Description says non smoking hotel, only place there was a sign was in the miniscule lift! None in rooms and searched for smoke detectors, without success. I am sure the very unpleasant and sarcastic manager will come up with a reply! Dogs everywhere, including the dining room, very off putting. I love pets but not in hotels and certainly not sitting on chairs, at the tables, in eating areas. The buffet breakfast was poor. The "Cafe con Letche" and small plain croissants (only there 3 times in two weeks) was it's only saving grace. We have had buffet breakfasts in all our previous hotels, including two in Roses (Univers and Prestige Coral Platja), but the have always included some hot options. Not sure about other nationalities, but we be its don't normally eat chocolate donuts and fairy cakes at 8.30 in the morning. Sorry I forgot to say the honey dew melon was lovely, but they only had to slice it up. The rooms were so basic that I wanted to cry when I started to find places to put my lovely new holiday clothes. Our toiletries were left in our bags on bathroom floor as not even one shelf in there . The showere was good and water hot. It's one saving grace was the lovely young woman that looked after our room every day. She kept it spotless with towels bedding etcetera, but not even a toilet brush in the bathrooms for guests to use and don't expect a lay in as the hotel (correction hostel) does not supply do not disturb signs. The noise overnight was horrendous and not all from outside, but the manager said we should expect that from an hotel! We did get moved to 5th floor when not prepared to let it drop. We had paid in advance and would have moved, but he was unwilling to refund any of our money. I always thought we were very careful when choosing our accommodation, just shows that even seasoned travellers can make mistakes!

The location of the hotel is perfect,we have stayed at the other end of Roses before, where all the hotels are, but most are closed in December, now it was very nice to be close to the town too.The staff were most friendly and helpful. The room was nice, clean and comfortable, and even from a room at the side of the hotel we had a beach view. One drinks machine at breakfast was not very warm, but when I tried the other machine, that was good and hot, so I was able to make a good cup of tea. On our last evening there was a problem with the warm water, but that was just unfortunate, things happen, it wasn't a drama. The receptionist, Josep, such a charming and helpful gentleman, was getting so many complaints the next morning as we were leaving, it was a great pity, it wasn't his fault, and he was most apologetic. For me it was a very good stay there, the only problem I could find was the internet connection, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.

Spotless clean, quiet, with all comfort I could wish for, very good service and treatment by all staff I came into contact with (about 7 people). Impressively good quality and variety of breakfast options. 50% discount coupons for practicing water sports. Very pleasant ambiance everywhere in the hotel, with all design or service details very well taken care of. Many TV channels, with very good signal. Placed ideally, veryclose to the beach, but in the second, quiet front, right at the start of the shopping and eating area of the town. I was sorry I could only spend 4 nights there, as the feeling was splendid.

Very basic, no restaurant when we were there. Plastic cups in room, no fridge or tea making facilities, but clean and adequate for a one night stay. Good view over the beachfront. Cafes close by for breakfast.

Modern Hotel with quirky bathroom setup, Very clean and comfortable with small Juliette balcony. The hotel has just recently undergone renovation and has an open feel cafe style dining room. The guy on reception was excellent and obliging with good English, good sense of humour and informative. The breakfast buffet was impressive, well presented and and wide range of selections. The girl serving and looking after the coffee/tea was very helpful.

As we were walking past this hotel we saw they were serving lunches on the terrace so decided it was time for our lunch too. The food was very good and with the drinks were reasonably priced, so we called again another day and the food and service was just as good. The staff were pleasant and friendly and as we used their toilet facilities, noticed that the interior of the hotel was very clean, bright and in good condition. If the bedrooms are as good as the downstairs areas, I would imagine it would be a good place to stay as it is in a fantastic location.

We booked the hotel initially for two night as a base for visiting the area and was upgraded to a better room. The breakfast was included but although little choice it was good with the exception of the coffee. We decided to stay an extra night as we liked the position and the good value. We also managed to get parking directly outside the hotel for free.

Well located just one short block from the beach. Large room and small terrace. Only downside was the very hard beds. Nice areas to sit downstairs and well kept gardens. Coffee and soft drinks always available from reception for a small charge. Room included a fridge so you could keep your owns drinks cool. Good, well stocked breakfast buffet including hot & cold choices which was included in the room rate. Free parking opposite the hotel in their own carpark and a public carpark next door to that if the hotel one is full. Dogs allowed free of charge. Ask for a room at the back as the front ones can be noisy due to a main road. No lift, so if you have mobility issues or cant carry luggage, ask for a ground floor room.

We stayed at the Montecarlo Hotel for 1 night during the month of October. We had booked a double bed with the expectation of a three star hotel at the beach with excellent service. Entrance - The entrance of the hotel does give the impression that it requires some maintenance. The paintings even have holes (?) in them. Check-in - Opens from 14h00. When we checked-in, the receptionist gave us our keys to our room and it turned out our room did not look anything like the pictures (80's interior) and had 2 separate beds. When we moved back to the reception to inform her about this, she told us they were unfortunately fully booked and could provide no other options. We understood her point, but as we were on holiday and anticipated a double bed and proper amenities for the amount of money paid, we decided to cancel our booking. She was friendly and pleased to help us with this request, but after realizing the effort it took to process (being alone at the reception) she proposed an upgrade with a double bed and sea view. Tired, we took the room. Room - Allthough the room had a nice view, was clean and updated we did not anticipate the loud music from the hotel lounge below us. The music started at 20h00 went on till 0h30 midnight. Closing the window did not help.. The bed was a bit short (my height is 1.86 cm), but comfortable to lay on. Spa - The spa is accessible from 9h00 till 21h00. It is disconnected from the main hotel (you have to walk through the restaurant and go outside where people are eating and drinking) The pool was clean, although a bit small. Both sauna's smelled like mold and therefor we were unable to enjoy it. The following morning we had breakfast (open between 8h00-10h00). Though there is plenty of choice, the quality is lacking (stale bread, canned fruit and powdered coffee). Besides all of the above, we managed to make the best out of our stay. Based upon the above, we unfortunately cannot recommend the hotel.

We stayed for two nights en route to Menorca. Our dog was welcome and our room was stunning. Natural stone walls , spa bath and really comfortable. Breakfast was a delight! The choice was amazing and there was a hot element to it as well - bacon and scrambled eggs. We had an evening meal on one of our nights and it was delicious. The staff were friendly and the environment was fantastic if you like rustic, which we do. There is an outdoor pool and sun beds and an indoor spa pool which I have to admit was disappointing. Mas Palou is easy driving distance to Roses and I’d love to go back sometime. Just lovely.

This hotel has a fantastic position right on the promenade with its own private garden on the beach complete with sun loungers and shady trees. Close to shops, restaurants and bars but just out of the main tourist area of Roses which means it has a nice quiet position. Outside there is a sunny terrace fronting on to the promenade and an outdoor pool (heated inn winter) which can be covered if necessary. Excellent Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. Two good-sized lifts. Drinks prices in the bar are very reasonable and we had wine and water on the table every evening. The whole hotel is very clean and well maintained and is of traditional Spanish style with lovely ceramic tiled floors. Good Bedroom, spacious, just enough shelves and hanging space. Large desk/dressing table top area, refrigerator, TV, aircon, tea & coffee facilities, safety deposit box (pay at Reception for the rental) and comfortable twin beds. Bathroom with hairdryer and a good supply of good quality towels. Balcony with table and chairs and side sea view and mountain view on the other side. The buffet breakfasts and evening meals had every kind of food imaginable, the largest display of food I have seen, but then it is a large hotel and has many guests to feed. Because of the large number of guests in the hotel we had set times for dining so as not to clash and the system worked quite well, getting around the servery was reasonably easy. The staff are always smiling and very helpful and for those not speaking English have a good way of communicating. The kitchen staff worked very hard keeping the servery well stocked and there was never a shortage of food. There was entertainment every evening and waiter service from the bar. Roses is a very nice town and only a few minutes walk away.

We have just returned from a 6 night holiday at this hotel, we were with a coach company and I have to say I cannot fault them, the hotel was very clean, staff friendly and polite, lovely pools, entertainment after dinner not to everyone's taste but OK, food was delicious and lots to choose from, a short walk from the seafront with bars and cafe's and a short walk into the Old Town.

We didn’t get off to the best start at check in as we considered we were not given the room we had booked and paid for. Be very careful you know exactly what this hotel considers to be a “garden view” before you book such a room. In our opinion the room looked over a garage entrance and utility area and had no view or privacy at all. We were “upgraded” to a seaview room the following morning (at no extra charge) but the negotiation & inconvenience had meant losing precious hours of our short 2 night stay. Not to mention the disappointment & stress caused. Our new room had what the hotel refers to as a “partially” open bathroom which actually meant no bathroom as such at all. The toilet (semi opaque two thirds glass door) and shower (totally transparent glass door) were both in the bedroom just 2 meters from the bed. Even after 30 years of marriage I still value a modicum of privacy, this arrangement did not work for us at all. What on earth was the large mirror on the ceiling over the bed all about?! Complete with spotlight. Not something we are used to. Had to ask for a shower cap, in a 5* hotel? The television in both rooms initially had only Spanish stations. It was only when I enquired to reception and mentioned that it was strange not to have even one English speaking station in a 5* hotel that a helpful staff member arrived to change the satellite settings. We then had CNN & BBC World News. Happy husband! Actually, that was only until the second TV stopped working. There is no outdoor pool which is fine as there is a nice beach. The only problem is the lack of appropriate handrails to help you down the steep stone steps to it. Once there, as other reviewers have mentioned, there were only 8 sunbeds and we had to sit on our beach towels (to be collected and returned to reception on penalty of a fine). On the plus side, the seaviews from the terraces are lovely, the food in the restaurants is good, we dined in Els Brancs, Gastromar and the beach bar and enjoyed them all. Every member of staff we came across was charming and helpful. But, on the whole, we didn’t find this 5* hotel to be ‘user-friendly’ and our short stay was blighted by too many frustrations, we will not return.
