As others have said, first impressions when you arrive may disappoint you. When we pulled up I was a little disappointed to say the least. The road it is located on is quite sparse. However on going through the tunnel you will find a secure car park and the interior of the place is comfortable. However high vehicles may not be able to get in. The rooms are immaculate well equipped and modern. The usual French fare breakfast was of a very good standard and there was plenty of it. The town of Nevers is about a 5-10 minute walk (depending on your pace!) Found staff to be helpful.

We have stayed in hundreds of hotels over the last few years big and small. This hotel is very worn and in desperate need of an update. The positives: friendly and accommodating staff, good elevator, clean room and property, decent breakfast buffet, walking distance to restaurants, secure bicycle storage, good room lighting. The negatives: hotel is very worn looking in the lobby and in the rooms, room door sticks when you try to open it, air conditioning doesn’t work(lower limit set at 24 degrees centigrade) with almost no air flow in room, hotel says it is on the river but due to overgrown vegetation you won’t see it so don’t pay for a river view room. Bottom line: only stay here if you have no other options.

Had a booking for 57 pilgrims for half board. Some of us were very dissapointed as some of the rooms had dirty sheets on the beds and were filthy from previous occupants and when requested a change of room was given another disgusting room with dirty sheet that had blood on it. The whole process of fixing the room took longer than the time allocated by Ibis promise to fix what was wrong and the promise of free stay if the problem was not sorted in time. Another pilgrim too had dirty duvet and dirty sheets and the room was not changed and the staff grudgingly change the sheets and duvet cover. The staff was rude and when we kindly requested that two pilgrims who had pork allergies to have an omelette instead, the staff in charge made a huge fuss and told us that those who cannot have pork just had to have the potatoes and veg. We pointed out that the veg too had bacon in it too and to please at least give them an omelette, the staff in charge was not happy and said that even if the cook can do the omellettes it will take quite a while and it took over half an hour before those two pilgrims had their eggs and when the eggs came there were not omelettes but runny scrambled eggs ! We were also told that there is no butter to have with our bread and soup. And while waiting for the desserts to be served one of the pilgrims asked whether we can help ourselves to coffee from the coffee machine and a server said that it was all right but when the staff in charge of dining saw some of the pilgrims at the coffee machine she shouted at them for using the coffee machine and then requested payment for the coffee. When desert was brought in, the dessert spoons were actually chucked at us at the table rather than laid nicely. We were the only occupants in the dining room at the time. We asked to see the manager and was told that the manager will come and see us at breakfast at 8am the next day to hear our complaints but the manager never turned up, It was definitely the worst experience we pilgrims had and we had no apologies and would definetely never use that hotel again on our pilgrimage to Nevers.

We stayed only 1 night in the hotel on our way back to Brussels and booked 2 studios. Both were really big with a small kitchenette, a nice sitting area, a small dining table and a balcony. Automatic blinds outside the windows making it possible to keep windows open at night. The bathroom is big too but the shower is not practical at all as it is open so water goes everyday (save the toilet roll before having your shower 😉 ) – I believe the one we got was more for an handicapped person. Warm welcome when we arrived and we received all the information we needed. There is a free parking around the hotel but I would not recommend parking below the big trees – I found many sticky spots everywhere on the roof and also bird dejections, the car was really dirty and in a need to go to the carwash. The hotel itself is nice, extremely quiet with a nice park and secured as the front door closes at 20H but you may enter with your electronic key. There is a small Carrefour Market 2-3 minutes away by car where you can buy all you need. There are also permanent residents in the hotel and a retirement house next door. Before leaving (check-out is quite early), don't forget to clean any utensil you would have used from the kitchen otherwise there is a fee of 15 euro.

Stayed here for 3 nights whilst on business. After the 2.5 hour train journey from Paris the hotel is just a 5 min walk. The receptionist was very helpful and spoke far better English than I spoke French. Room was clean, spacious, traditional rather than modern. Includes coffee facility and safe. Unfortunately there’s no power points by the bed. The bathroom was large with a bath with overhead shower but strange that there was no shower curtain. Quality of food and service in the restaurant was very good but somewhat expensive. The continental breakfast was good with very nice bread. I did experience an issue with the internet but this had been resolved by the time I returned to the hotel in the evening.

I arrived late on Easter Sunday evening due to a longer train journey than I had anticipated but was given a warm welcome by the person on reception. This is a small hotel overlooking the park and within a short walk of both the city centre and next to the shrine of St Bernadette. It is an older hotel and the size of the rooms reflect this to permit en-suite. My room was clean with free wifi and TV. I had a nice welcome and good breakfast. This is a good value hotel and with car-parking if required.

Location is very strategic, in front of the train station Gare de Nevers. The bus station is also near from the hotel. The room is not big, but clean and comfortable. The toilet is small and clean. The elevator is very small, only enough for 2 people and 2 suitcases. Receptionist is friendly and can speak English. There is a good Kebab Restaurant near the hotel. Espace Bernadette is about 600 meters from the hotel, we can walk just a few minutes.

What an incredible experience. I had the pleasure to stay at this convent and I cannot even imagine where to start with my story - Room: Pretty basic, but it is a convent. I did not expect anything else, or to be more precise, if the room had not been like it was, I would have been disappointed. - Reception: Very nice, very efficient, very friendly - Food: Had no chance to get the pilgrims menu since I did not inform these guys in advance. Breakfast was good (and the only breakfast on my holiday where they served Nutella) - The convent itself: Surrounded by an incredible beautiful garden. Spent the sunset sitting there, having a nice wine and feeling myself slowing down. Everything is very quiet and silent - Bernadette: This is an incredible experience. I cannot say if I really believe in what they say about Bernadette, but I can say I really believe in the people I met there. There was no one unmoved by this experience. When you stay at the hotel you can also visit the grave of Bernadette at a later hour, when you are all on your own, and soak in this athmosphere. Incredible. If you want to stay at a hotel with a great TV set, evening entertainment and a well-stocked mini-bar, go somewhere else. I you want to experience spiritualism at its best and get in contact with yourself and have a chance to slow down, stay here

The hotel is easy to access and has secure parking. Reception is friendly and helpful. The bar is good and the restaurant is excellent - but the room is very basic, too small and not suited to a romantic get away. It is nevertheless good value for money if you just want a rest stop on the way to Tours and the South of France. The walk into the old town centre is about 15 minutes taking you over the Loire River on an old bridge straight into the old town. There are lots of cafes, restaurants, parks, gardens, old architectural sites and places to explore.
