This is a fantastic hotel with helpful and friendly staff, nice, spacious rooms and is very clean. Hotel Senator is great value and would have been ideal for our overnight stop on a long road trip, but for it’s location in a rather edgy neighbourhood, hence the low rating. The car park was full so tried parking on the street beside the hotel, but we’re informed by three gentlemen hanging about on the pavement that it was reserved for the adjacent shisha bar. We did find a space nearby, but broken windows and graffiti in the neighbourhood meant that we did worry a little about personal safety and security of the car. The hotel is great if you are looking for great value and a clean and friendly place to stay as long as you have a bit of a sense of adventure.

We went to the football, we had a great location and for the pennies we paid you could not expect anything better. It had everything you need to lay your head if you like to be out and about. Would not recommend if you want a luxury hotel, more for people who only use a room to sleep and get ready

The Home Hotel is a good hotel in Dortmund, offering rooms with reasonable prices. The hotel is located within 20-30 min car drive from the airport (depending on the traffic). I and my wife stayed for one night only due to very early morning flight back to Poland. If you have a car rented, is preferable to park your car on the street near the hotel or across the street near the Croatian restaurant (BTW offering excellent food at a reasonable price). The room and the bathroom was small and not equipped with any toiletries, but very clean. The hotel's reception does not work at night, but you are provided with the key and informed how to enter the hotel and then your room. There is nobody in the reception from 2200 until 0600 hrs but you are provided with an emergency number. We did not try the breakfast since our flight was early morning, so we left the hotel before reception / kitchen was opened. We just left the key in the key box and left the hotel. The price for the room we paid was approx. 70 Euro per night (+ breakfast 6.90 E pp). I can highly recommend this hotel for short stay and it will take you approx. 30 min to reach the airport.

This was our second stay at N H Dortmund and it didn't disappoint. We drove this time from the UK and a public car park is located underneath the hotel. You can pay for the parking at the hotel but not reserve in advance. The lift then goes straight up to Reception and rooms. The hotel itself is located very central and we were there for the Christmas Market. We only had to cross the road and you are at the market and centre of the city. The hotel rooms are very spacious. Our room was a suite, comprising of a double bed, separated by a short wall in which the TV was set. The tv could be turned either towards the bed or towards the settee and seating area. There was also a desk. A light up wardrobe, safe and plenty of electrical sockets completed the room. The bathroom had a shower, bath, WC and sink along with a dressing area. The wi fi worked perfectly. The room was very comfortable and also warm. Breakfast had plenty of choice. Food was very fresh and replenished often. The scrambled eggs were delicious, the hot food was very hot, always welcome and the choice was endless. Yes the breakfast was not cheap but we did as advised and booked when we made our booking as this is the cheaper option. It was worth it. We found all staff were friendly. There is also a hotel bar which was comfortable and great to end the night with a nightcap. The hotel itself is very quiet inside but Dortmund never sleeps and as it is situated on the main road and beside the main train station and taxi rank you do get noise all night. We knew this but others may find it a little noisy. We will definitely be back. We enjoyed our stay and had a great weekend.

City centre hotel within walking distance of anything interesting in Dortmund centre (trains and buses close by for trips further afield). Reception area has small bar, table football, pool table and TV plus plenty of seats. Rooms are tidy, maintained yet minimalistic - everything you need for a base to see/do other things in the town and local area. Continental breakfast is served downstairs. Majority of staff speak English and were helpful/friendly when asked. Perfectly adequate venue for budget conscious travellers.

The location of the hotel is excellent. You can reach the city center on foot in a couple of minutes. Excellent shopping possibilities nearby the hotel. My room had been recently renovated. It was very tidy and clean. The interiors of the room reminded in a very nice way of the mining history of Dortmund. Very tasty breakfast. Very kind and helpful staff. And excellent sauna bath available. This hotel can honestly be recommended.

Stayed here December 2019 to see the Christmas market. The hotel is clean, beds were comfortable. Traditional German breakfast, in a nicely decorated breakfast room. We travelled in a group and had 6 rooms, so got to compare. No two rooms were identical, each had its pros and cons. Decor in most rooms was dated and basic. Rooms facing the street were a bit noisy, rooms facing the courtyard were very quiet, but no view. Some of the bathrooms needed updating. Some had only a bathtub, no shower. We all had double rooms, but saw some single rooms that did not have an en-suite, but a shared bathroom down the hall. Wi-Fi only worked in the lobby. Helpful and friendly staff. The bar across the street is great! Lots of locals, not touristy at all. All in all I would recommend this hotel if you just need a reasonably priced place to sleep in the city centre. Just be sure to ask for a room with an en-suite if you don’t like a shared bathroom.

Right in the centre, the hotel is the top few floors of an office block. Access by lift from the street, though the lock at the door to the entrance had been ripped off which made it feel slightly tacky. Room was fine, like some of the other smaller Mercure's in Germany it felt slightly austere (walls echoey) and not very homely. There is a small bar, but no evening meals (other than things from the freezer). Everything was clean and the breakfast was fine. Good point to note: I noted that some DB staff stay there on lodging turns, so sign that its reasonably consistent quality. The other Mercure in Dortmund centre has better facilities... but higher rates.

Need an average hotel? This is your place. We spent two nights here to take in the Christmas market in Dortmund and the surrounding areas. Husband loves Coffee Fellows, so I thought, why not stay here? We arrived via train and were able to walk to the hotel with no problem. Checking-in was a different story. The reception desk is in the back of the store. Did it have a sign saying "Check-in here!"--I have no idea and if they did, it wasn't memorable. We stood around this random desk as no one was manning it. About 5 minutes later, a lady appeared to help us. She wasn't welcoming. Told us that we couldn't check-in since our room wasn't ready--which was fine since we were okay with dropping our luggage and exploring the city. She left the luggage behind the desk....which, I wouldn't really say was in a safe area since the desk was literally just that--a desk in the store. Anyway, we left to explore the city. Came back hours later and were given our room key. Room was HUGE, which was nice. Windows opened to allow fresh air in which was great. Bed was comfortable with nice linens and pillows. Bathroom was clean with fresh towels. However, the bathroom fan literally runs for 20 minutes after you shut off the light in the bathroom and is ridiculously loud. It sounds like you are in an airplane hell for 20 minutes after the light goes out. We took showers and flooded the bathroom. Now, we've lived in Europe now for awhile and stayed at many hotels and know that the glass divider in the shower doesn't block all the water, but this was a literal flood of the bathroom. We told the front desk who said they'd look at it. Did they? Nope. We ended up taking a shower with reduced pressure so as to not walk around in a flooded bathroom. We had coffees in the evening here and they were good. Check-out was easy. Hard to find a person in the morning at the "reception desk" to take the key and give us a receipt. Seriously??? Would we stay here again? Nope. Improve your customer service, be welcoming and friendly to your guests. This left a bad taste in our mouth.

Breakfast is very good. The chef orders it now: omelet, shredded cheese, vegetables, mushrooms, etc. It's great. Other kinds of bread, fresh juice coffee tea. Meat has sausages, bacon. Peach apple, cantaloupe, pineapple and other fruits, a kind of Danone fruit yoghurt. All in all, including early value

Well, we stayed there to have a place on walking distance to the Signal Iduna Park. And yes, the location is simply perfect when you want to watch a BVB game. Another positive: the staff at the reception desk was truly friendly and very helpful indeed. The rooms however would require a renewal, a modern touch. Beds are comfortable, but the design, furniture and colours are simply not up-to-date anymore, and the bathroom is very tiny. Price is too high for what you get, probably especially on Bundesliga weekends and considering that (at the moment) you share a view to a construction site (at least windows are good, you don't hear anything). It feels a bit like staying at a "cash cow" of a hotel chain.

This hotel names itself boutique hotel. So I started really thinking about what is again meant when a hotel is a boutique hotel. For me it is a hearty atmosphere, being central and being built in a stunning design. Staff is very friendly, and it’s extremely central. Just I expect more from a boutique hotel in terms of design, well being, coziness. The access is not easy. You cannot Park there directly in front of the hotel not even stop there and the hotel starts in the upper level. The design is average but modern. The colors of yellow and black are dominant. The smell of cleaning remedy not very welcoming. The lobby is a way thru to the rooms. The breakfast area in the morning smells from the cooking. It is just misleading. Not boutique style.
