8.22km from Parque PinosolI booked a table here for Christmas Day in the evening in the hotels “acclaimed” restaurant and was expecting a lovely dinner, I could not have been more disappointed. When we were shown to our table it was not in the main restaurant as this was closed, but in a conservatory like room next to it. No decorations, view, music or ambience what so ever. We chose from a set menu, but to start were all given a salad with cold sliced duck breast. It was a strange mixture of flavours which were not pleasing on the palate, bitter radicio lettuce, fresh pineapple, sweet corn, indescribable dressing all overpowered the minute slivers of duck which had a thick layer of fat which was gastly. A soup course was next, lobster bisque with a ravioli. It looked most unappetising as it was a dirty brown colour and tasted as bad as it looked, with one very overcooked ravioli floating on the top, which was terrible. My sons ordered the steak for two people which was the “biggest,” literally disaster of the evening. After being asked how they would like their steak cooked, they were presented with a huge, T Bone steak on a WARM cooking iron. This chunk of meat which I can only describe as looking like “a dogs dinner” was served blu and I presume the idea was that you cooked it to your liking. This was not possible as the cooking iron was not hot but barely warm as we felt it with our hands. I had to tell the waiter it wasn’t hot and without apology he removed it, but left the accompanying vegetable. It was returned finally sizzling and cooked by ourselves on the table, sadly it was tasteless with lots of fat, gristle and bone and I had to ask for fresh hot vegetables, which arrived almost when the meal was finished. The waiter was not attentive and when we complained about the food he very rudely laughed and walked off. I had monkfish which was also mostly inedible as insufficiency cooked. The plates were all stone cold and the food barely, much warmer. Overall it was without a shadow of doubt “the worst ever meal” I’ve had in a 4* hotel anywhere in the world let alone Dénia. I would not return here even if offered a week of free meals. It was my first Christmas in Spain and I can honestly say it was a gastronomic catastrophe of epic proportions.
