0.05km from La GondolaThis was a packaged holiday through Jet2, my mum and dad's Christmas present. I had booked a one-bedroom apartment with a walk-in shower. There are steps going down into the apartments, however, there is a lift which takes you down to ground level ( see pic ), this was ideal as my mum struggles with stairs. Be aware that if you have mobility issues request a ground floor apartment, as there are no lifts to the upper levels. At the reception, we had a friendly greeting and an upgrade to a two-bed apartment which was a lovely surprise, this was on the ground level but had a few steps up to it which was manageable. The apartment was huge, spotlessly clean, kitchen area with microwave, hob, kettle, toaster, pots and pans, washing machine, iron, etc, it was very well equipped. There were a twin room and a double room with a tv. The beds were super comfy and we all slept really well. The walk-in shower was a blessing and easy for mum and dad. Clean towels every day and the apartment cleaned. The maids were out around the pool area everyday mopping and keeping it spotless. The apartments are one road back from the promenade, go right to Benalmadena marina about 10 mins walk, turn left for Torremolinos a bit further about 20 mins, this is able-bodied walking time. There are plenty of places to eat locally, we went to Kellys on three occasions ( see my review). We also hired a car locally which was good value for money. Lidl is just up the road. The one thing that could of spoilt this holiday happened on our first day, be aware of local gypsies, who try and give you flowers and ask for a penny! So glad I was there to protect my elderly parents who almost had their wallet and purse taken by these callous thieves. Apart from that incident, we had a perfect week, weather was great for January, and thank you Ecuador for the upgrade it was very much appreciated, we wouldn't hesitate to return.

0.06km from La GondolaArrived at hotel and check in was quick and courteous.Perfect location right at the paseo and beach Given a room on the first floor above reception with a street view and never got any sun on balcony at any time and was awoken each morning by the bin lorry emptying the bins right below our room ( I would recommend asking for a pool view room.Room was clean but furniture showing signs of age .Free toiletries in bathroom with the most powerful over bath shower in the world. Bed was comfortable however the headboard was free standing and we had to move the bed-frame away from the wall because every time you turned over in bed the unique headboard would bang against the wall and wake you up and probably awaken next door too.Plenty of wardrobe space but no drawers to put clothing away. The bar and pool areas were clean and drink prices were reasonable. Moving on to the food--Where do I start???. The good point was the breakfasts are ok with chef making omelettes to order if desired. I have been fortunate enough to stay in a number of hotels in Torremolinos over the last 7 years the food at La Barracuda is by far and away the worst choice and quality of food it has ever been my misfortune to be served. If you like fish (which had more bones than flesh) pork and veal then you were not going to be disappointed as there was always plenty of it served in some sort of sauce / gravy and did not look too good. The Pizza was served in squares and was dried out and appeared to be a lot short on cheese or any other topping for that matter .Chilli con carne was available 2 nights of the 7 we were there and was stone cold and was basically a huge bowl of greyish coloured lumps of mince with not a lot else in it. Chicken risotto was one choice one night and there was that few pieces of chicken in it that the person in front of me in the buffet queue picked all the chicken from the dish and left everyone else the rice. The salad bar was an absolute disgrace with no cheeses or cold meats etc. available at any time however they upped the ante one night and sprinkled tuna flakes on top of salad leaves. I thought I had seen everything until one evening someone decided it would be a good idea to serve chicken wings in gravy as a main course. Really ?? Chicken wings which have hardly any meat on anyway. I worked in the mass catering industry for over 20 years and realise the budgetary constraints applied but come on someone needs a kick up the backside for serving up this muck. The desserts were poor too. Choice of a different flavour each night of some sort of Angel delight with stale chocolate cake sprinkled over the top, profiteroles (which were frozen in the middle), small pieces of cake, ice cream or fresh fruit. The waiting staff were very pleasant and worked extremely hard as did the cleaning staff. Overall we enjoyed the majority of aspects of the hotel but if you are thinking of booking then please do yourself a HUGE favour and think about bed and breakf

0.14km from La GondolaWhere to start, we were given a very warm and friendly welcome by the staff on reception, a very welcome glass of cava was a lovely touch. Our room was of a very good size , super bathroom and a fantastic view of the sea. All this was very well prepared and super clean, the standard was maintained throughout our stay. We enjoyed a fantastic variety of food both at dinner and breakfast, the friendly and helpful staff completed a very pleasurable dining experience. This is a quality hotel - you really do get what you pay for, we could not fault anything. Situated overlooking the sea on a lovely promenade, lots of easy walking amidst shops, bars and restaurants. Bus stop a 10 minute walk. Can't wait to go back.

0.26km from La GondolaLoved this hotel! Our room had just been renovated so was nice and fresh. Other rooms round about us were in the process of being renovated and whilst there was alot of work going on it did not bother us at all. We picked the hotel for its location as we'd seen it on our last trip to Benalmadena. It is perfectly situated for walking to the marina, Benalmadena, La Carihuela and Toremolinos. The views from the rooms are stunning as can be seen in my photos. We booked for breakfast and there was a great choice of food on offer. The dining room is small, welcoming and so much nicer (and quieter) than some of the bigger hotels we've stayed in. The shop inside the hotel is well stocked and reasonably priced. All the staff we came into contact with were very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely return to this hotel in the future.

0.33km from La GondolaMyself and my family have just returned from a week at pez espada. We stayed in one of the suite rooms (2301) .Room and hotel both very clean both with a nice mix..hotel old school charm ,we felt it had a 60's Las vegas feel! The room was ultra modern, very contemporary with nice fixtures and fittings, with easily enough room for 3 adults to tick along with getting under each others feet.Staying in the suites gives you access to a private lounge which was nice and a private garden which gave the suites a premium feel.We stayed on a half board basis and found the food to be of a good standard and frequently replenished, although we did get bored with the routine of it all and ate out 3 out of the 7 nights. The food at times just felt the same as the previous night at times with just different variants of the same thing it became a source of amusement to us as how many different ways & how many different sauces you could cook hake (fish) in! Would definitely stay again if we ever revisit, location especially is fantastic .We've all become travel experts and tend to be highly critical of everything these days but this hotel for us anyway deserves a well done! Enjoyed our stay .

0.36km from La GondolaStayed at this hotel back in 2018 and just booked again for 2021 and cannot wait , stayed in top floor suite which is incredible with both front and side panoramic views from huge balcony . The in room entertainment was also spot on with blue tooth speaker system to play your own media over . Brilliant room space and kept t immaculate daily be cleaning staff. Lovely roof top terrace and swimming pool with exclusive access to soft drinks and snacks daily , quiet and peaceful away from the buzz around the main pool areas - available with suites and level rooms. Breakfast was great each day with plenty choices and fresh hot food as well as the traditional continental choices fully available. 0.48km from La GondolaA wonderful stay, beautiful views, super clean bathroom and a very friendly reception
0.52km from La GondolaStayed here on a two-day break recently. Five minutes walk from the beach but as it is off the sea-front it is nice and quiet. We had a superior room with a large double bed, sofa, nice bathroom and balcony. It is a Japanese themed hotel but has been taken over fairly recently so no longer does Japanese evening meals. Breakfast is very good and it has a small pool (we didn't use it) and a sauna and hot-tub (which we did). The staff are very helpful. All in all, very good value and would definitely use again.

0.56km from La GondolaArrived at this hotel on 30th December, we were upgraded to a suite, which was spacious, with a fantastic panoramic sea view. Large balcony from the lounge and also the bedroom. Bathroom contained excellent facilities, bed extremely comfortable, top quality linen. The atmosphere around the hotel was warm with friendly obliging staff, gorgeous Christmas tree and decorations. New Year's Eve Gala Dinner was a superb event, although I must add compared to last year's which we spent in the Don Pablo Hotel, not quite as good. The staff worked exceptionally hard all the evening, our main disappointment being no recognition of the British guests for their New Year celebration which would be one hour later, this was very much appreciated last year, when we even had Big Ben chimes and Auld Lang Syne, The main bar provided entertainment from a pianist, and on one evening an enjoyable flamenco, the drinks were a reasonable price, and I savoured a couple of fabulous cocktails! The hotel location is wonderful, long walks along the splendid promenade for miles in either direction. Our one negative which for us loses the one star, is the evening main course at dinner. Disappointing lack of choice, and unfortunately, the buffet does not keep the food hot enough. Breakfast is passable as the omelettes and freshly cooked eggs are fantastic. Would love to visit this hotel again, but as a bed and breakfast guest only, unless the food could be improved significantly.

A great, peaceful hotel, easily located within walking distance to the town centre and the beach. The staff were more than friendly and very helpful. Carlos, who owns the hotel is a very nice gentleman. My room was more like an apartment with flat screen TV, fridge freezer, microwave, double bed, sofa, large separate bathroom and balcony. Easily accessible WiFi throughout. Excellent value for money. Would highly recommend to all my freinds and definitely stay here again. Thanks Carlos for everything :) 😎
the hotel is ideally located just 1 minute away from the train station and close to all amenities and just a 10 minute walk to the beachfront. When you make the booking the hotel sends you a code number to enter the property as the reception is not always manned, my keys were waiting at the desk and one of the staff explained me the procedures. Eventhough the room is very simply furnished (all items bought in IKEA...)and hardly any amenities it had everything I needed with modern and new furniture and the bed was very comfortable. I liked the fact of not having anybody there which made me feel independent (there is a number you can dial if there is anything you ned from them). On the down side, the property is on the first floor of a busy street so if you are travelling on high season you might experience some kind of noise in the room.
This really good two star hotel is situated about 5 minutes walk from Torremolinos train station and 80 metres from the Calle San Miguel. Very central in Torremolinos. They appear to have about 5 friendly guys who work on the 24 hour reception. My room number 306 was of a good size, a functional bathroom, large balcony, TV, free wifi and the twin beds were comfortable. daily room service and if one requires a small refrigerator it costs around 3- 4 euros a day payable at the reception. I highly recommend this hotel and I understand they will be staying open during this Covid virus.
On arriving at Malaga airport we took the train from the Airport which was very straight forward, you can walk to the station within a few minutes and purchase tickets from the ticket machine quite easily at a cost 2.50 euros each. Torremolinos is only a few stations stops away so it's only about a 10 minute journey, with the station being under the main square with stairs leading up onto the square then it’s about a 10 minute walk to Aguamarina which is all downhill. On arrival it was late evening the lobby was light and airy and the gentleman at reception was very friendly and checked us in quickly. Our allocated Room was 321, there are 2 lifts servicing all levels although these are quite small and only hold about 4 or 5 people so you could have a bit of a wait in the busy months. On entering our room we were immediately impressed by the modern styling and high standard of fittings, the room had a small balcony with 2 chair and a small table that overlooked the pool area and the beach, as the hotel is set back one street from the promenade. There was a large super king size bed that was comfortable, a sofa, coffee table, also a large TV but only a few English channels and mostly the news. A kettle was also supplied and a small fridge (would hold 2 x 2lts bottles or 10 cans. The air condition was very good and although we didn't need it does also provide heat to the suite if required. The bathroom was modern and had a shower over the bath with plenty hot water, large sink / vanity table with complimentary shower gel and shampoo there was also a hair drier (but only 1200w, which according to my wife is not powerful enough if you have long hair!) The room was serviced every day and new towels etc provided as required and kept very clean The main pool area was well kept with sun loungers and parasols and never had any issue getting one, probably due to it being very late in the season but might be in the high season. The pool bar open at about 11ish. The main pool was large with gradual steps into it and there was also a kids pool, but the water was freezing so never ventured in! We spent most of our time on the roof terrace which was great especially as it was late season, so with the sun being lower in the sky the main pool area lost all the sun at about 3pm, but the roof top had sun until about 5pm. There is a Jacuzzi pool on the roof terrace which is also cold but I did go in and it's not that bad after the initial shock and was refreshing to cool down as temperatures did reach mid 20's on some days, the only downfall being up high is that if it is breezy it can get cold as there is no shelter, but maybe ok in the Summer month when its really hot and be glad of a breeze. We were on bed and breakfast only but can say that the choice was good, Bacon, sausage, eggs etc., made to order omelettes, fresh crepes, bakery selection and continental meat, cheese, yogurt etc, so will more or less will cater for almost all tastes including Gluten fre
This small hotel was close to the sea, so very convenient to all of Torremolinos. The room was small but had all we needed, until 3 days into our holiday when the hot water went off. We managed with cold water, but really missed a hot shower. Carlos was very helpful and kept us up to date with the situation. Apart from this great inconvenience we managed to keep clean with cold water. The hotel is very clean and the staff and management were very friendly and helpful, especially Carlos who kept us informed about the lack of hot water, on a daily basis. The breakfast was very substantial, serving hot and cold food (eggs were cooked as and when required). The hotel was well situated for everything in Torremolinos. Despite the problem with the hot water we would return. The chef in the dining room was very obliging and cooked eggs (any style) to order.
