It was located on top of a grocery store which is to me was pretty beneficial. The hotel also provided a free shuttle to the train station but if you wish to go straight to the airport, they cost about Rp175,000 per shuttle. Though they did say they have free wifi but the wifi isn't that strong, too slow to my liking. I reckon you buy your own data. Pretty far from the city.

This is the cheapest and worst Grand Mercure ever. The hotel has been around for over 10 years and has not been renovated. Except for the luxurious lobby, the bathrooms in the rooms have been worn out. The surrounding area is messy, there are no shops and it is very inconvenient. Next door is a mosque. At 5 o'clock in the morning, several loud speakers start to sing and pray. Five times a day, people who don't sleep well will vomit blood. The only praise is that the breakfast is ok, the hotel swimming pool is large, the gym facilities are relatively complete, although the equipment is also very old!

Luckily we stayed only 1 night. And the experience is already bad. We arrive at 9pm at night. There was no problem drg check in. The room is very small, no windows, and smells like smoking room even they said it is a non smoking room. We accepted the room since it was late already and we were tired. The drainage of the bathroom is really bad. The water comes out to the room floor then we have to dry it with towel before sleep. The breakfast is not good. Not many varieties and the taste is just ok, not good. The fee for extra breakfast is overpriced, 70k/pax with that limited and non tasty food. The night before, we stayed in other hotel in the city centre with a lower price and much better experience that is why I say this hotel is a rip off. The room in the other one is bigger, the location is better, the breakfast is nicer and more variety, also the extra breakfast costs only 30k/pax. To make everything worse, during the check out the give us an unpleasant experience. The receptionist said there is yellow dirt on the pillow cases. I didn't use any cream or anything that will stain the fabric. The housekeeper brought down the pillow cases and the bed sheet. They showed us the stains. It is actually the stains that seems there for a long time from an old fabric. It has nothing to do with us. We argue with the receptionist and they accepted that it was not our fault without even saying SORRY. Please don't stay here.

This hotel has only been open for a year or so. We watched it being built when we used to live in Medan. The room was very comfortable and spacious--enough room for our luggage. The bathroom had an extra shelf, so enough room for 2 people's toiletries. Typical of Indonesia, even luxurious hotels, the tap water is not drinkable. They do not offer bottled water, but do give you a pitcher and have water down the hall to fill up--I much prefer that system. The hot shower was accommodating to tall people. We loved the breakfast, a mixture of local and Western with an egg bar and Soto Medan, my favorite soup. They offered late checkout for a very reasonable fee, and overall the price was great.

I changed some dishes for breakfast every day and stayed intermittently for a few days without getting tired. The rooms are not very big but clean and the TV has several Chinese channels. The hotel is located in the Chinese area. It is very convenient to eat, exchange money, buy phone cards and travel. There is a convenience store at the entrance, which is expensive but convenient. There is a black car opposite the hotel to the airport of 150,000, and those who are worried about the black car may also let the hotel take a taxi for about 18.

Breakfast is plentiful, suitable for children, the hotel is well located and there is a free bus to and from the central shopping mall. This is probably the cheapest JW Marriott Hotel in the world. I booked an executive room with glass walls on both sides, and the view is superb, but it is too big, and at the end of the corridor, girls would be afraid to live alone. However, this room has the advantage that dinner can be settled in the executive lounge.

I chose to stay at Kanasha hotel for a weekend and am really happy I did! The room is nice and clean, there is a proper warm shower and a comfortable bed with fluffy pillows. The street is pretty quiet and there are supermarkets, ATM’s and sights to see within walking distance. The only advice I would give to the staff is to invest in WiFi (the connection would was not so good) and breakfast (it was only a cup of tea and 2 slices of toast). Other than that I am very happy with the help provided by the reception desk when it came to arranging transportation to Lake to Toba.

My mother and I stayed for 3 nights in a twin bed in Business Deluxe room 201. We both got bed bug bites while staying in the room. My bed bug bites are more serious. It was our first visit to the hotel. Quite surprised actually, I didn't expect to find such a nice place in the middle of the hectic metropolitan. Surrounded by trees and a nice pool with shallow and deep sides separated in one swimming pool, in the middle of the hotel. Staff were nice and quiet. Seems like an old building but well maintained. All equipments worked well. Cafes and entertainment facilities are easy to reach. Thank you so much Mrs. Huber for your warm welcome and a wonderful time I had with my daughter. Recommended.

A low cost luxurious cozy hotel in the middle of Medan. An escape from the hectic routine. Fine furniture, tidy and clean. First two days we booked a family suite room, then we decided a second round with suite double room for a day. Only me and my daughter. She enjoys so much the internet tv, free wifi and swimming pool. Family room was okay with a kitchen and privacy at the top floor, less noise. Suite double room also fine with a living room but wifi signal is very weak. Anyway, currently we're still in a suite double room at the first floor, near the swimming pool. Staff are friendly and helpful. So much courtesy and convenience at this hotel, thank you so much. Sure we'll be back again and this is recommended. *we move around the furniture in the living room to suits us on a picture attached.

We had planned to stay here one night after our trek in Bukit Lawang. The first room they showed us had insects everywhere (not bed bugs I might add). So we stayed in another. At some point during that day/night we both got terrible food poisoning so we had to extend our stay, and wanted to upgrade to a bedroom with a window (and bathroom!). Even though the new bedroom was unoccupied, they refused us to move in before midday because the system wouldn’t allow it. This is despite me standing there in front of them telling them how ill we are, trying not to soil my trousers and running off mid conversation to be sick. She then started negotiating the time we could move in so it clearly was possible before midday, she is just an awful human being. I eventually had to shout until she allowed us to, such was my desperation amidst an awful illness. We stayed in that new room for 1 night, but still didn’t feel very well in the morning so decided to extend again. Because we had been in that room the whole previous day and night, I asked for fresh sheets. It’s the little things when you’re so poorly, right? I helped strip the bed, and oh my goodness, that’s when I saw MILLIONS OF BED BUGS ALL OVER THE MATTRESS! Actual bed bugs, not just insects which some people confuse. We threw our stuff into our bag, demanded a refund for the new night we had just paid for, and got out of there within 5 minutes! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!!

We only stayed at this hotel because we were attending a wedding reception being held there. I have stayed in more than 150 hotels around the world and for the first time I was required to pay a refundable deposit for a remote control for the A/C. The bathroom is exceedingly tiny. My cat couldn't swing a cat in it. There was no hot water at 5:00pm after we had travelled 5 hours to get there and really needed to freshen up. On our way to dinner, I asked at reception about this and was told that due to "technical problems" we could only have hot water from 6 - 8AM and from 6 - 8PM. I explained that I did not know about this. The receptionist then showed me a document that I had not seen nor been shown when checking in that explained the situation. I suggested that guests should be informed about this when checking in. Miraculously, the 'technical problems' were resolved the following morning. The staff were not aware of what was happening at the property. We asked if there was live music. The receptionist directed us to two venues on the property, but each was closed. Only the disco was open. The food in the restaurant was mediocre at best. They try to do this barbeque thing at the table, but it fails to deliver. There were plenty of plates, cups, glasses and so on, but only one spoon. There's no light above the cabinet where you make tea or prepare snacks etc. The light above the makeup / grooming mirror was not working. They clearly don't check that everything is working when they clean the rooms. The furniture, carpets, cabinetry, wall coverings etc are very dated. However, the bed was comfortable and the wall covering behind the bed was relatively new. There's no safe in the room. I know that safes are expense and there are always technical problems, but pretty much every property that says it's 4-star has a room safe. The worst part from a safety perspective is that the elevator doors close within a very short time. I injured my arm as the door closed on me within 5 or so seconds and hit me quite hard. A petite granny could have been seriously injured. No-one seems to care. It's an obvious problem and should have been fixed. The restaurant did not stock beer or wine or any other alcoholic beverage. It's a property that management doesn't seem to care about. The staff are helpful, willing, courteous and respectful, but not properly trained. This is a sign that management or ownership doesn't give a toss.

It is at a very busy intersection. Quite noisy at times depending on where your room is located. The mosque is just next to it. So you will hear the prayers early in the morning. The staff are quite friendly and helpful even though most don't speak English. There are some supermarkets next to it and around as well. My main issue was the there was no bank around to exchange currency. The hotel accepts only some types of currency. The wifi was awful. Never experienced anything that bad in a hotel. So have a SIM card and data available especially if you are flying in from another country. Don't forget to take an adapter to fit into the Indonesian power outlets. I did forget and luckily the hotel was able to give me one. Oh, by the way I could not switch off the light at the entrance unless i took my card off the master switch unit. That meant there were no lights anywhere until I put my card back into the slot. On the positive side, the pastry shop is quite good. Breakfast pretty good with a wide variety of dishes. Overall, a descent place for the price you pay!
