Nice hotel if you stay and visit Leuven. If you come by car you can park your car under the hotel! The staff are very kind. Don't order the coffee because you pay too much. The beer is ok! In Leuven itself there are lots of places you can eat and drink!

I arrived around midnight checked in the room 304. Naturally I went to the 3rd floor to find the room, but there were only 301, 302 and 303 over there. So I came down and asked the front desk. It turned out that I had to go to the 2nd floor and then take a small staircase to go to a 3rd floor corridor under the attic to get to another attached section of the building which contained 304, 305 and other rooms. Odd, isn’t it? No elevator access to the room and I had to go through a claustrophobic hallway and pass a small service door to get to the room. I also noticed that there was no door to separate the shower or the bathroom from the room. So nothing to stop all the moisture and odor to get to the room. still not a deal breaker. Anyway, I went out for a quick bar hopping and came back at about 2 am super tired to crash in my bed. But the room was way too hot. around 30 C (85F). I tried to lower the temp on the AC controller on the wall but It didn’t work. So I thought to give the front desk a call. To my surprise there was NO PHONE in the room! So I had to go down through the narrow hallway and staircase and all that jazz to get to the front desk. The guy at the front desk told me that they intentionally disabled the room temperature control because some guest abused the system (what?!) and he had to set the temp for my room himself. So he did that. He also told me to use my cellphone or to use what’s app on my phone to call the front desk. I went back to the room, and unfortunately the room was still hot. No change whatsoever. I couldn’t successfully add them to what’s app either, so I just called them on my cell phone, which would cost me international roaming charges (from US to Europe). The guy said the AC seems to be broken. I requested to change room to one of the lower levels hoping those would be cool. Note that my trip was in September, the outside temperature was very chill (around 10 degree Celsius) but my room had no window to open and somehow it was oddly hot, perhaps because it was just under the attic or some other reason like that. The front desk told me that the other rooms are occupied and he offered to give me a fan instead. I accepted, but then a few minutes later he called me and said that they don’t have any fan, but he can put me in room 305. Fortunately room 305 had a window which I could open to keep the room cool, however I had to leave the curtains open all night. Long story short, it took me from 2 am to 3:30 am to get to bed and finally get some shut eye until the bright daylight woke me up at about 6:30 am and gave me a bad headache. This was my first night experience in this supposedly fancy hotel which costed me $160 a night off-season. I got only 3 hours of sleep and a bad headache. No working AC, No elevator access, No phone to call the front desk, No bathroom door. The room 305 also didn’t have any phone in it, but its bathroom did have a door. The next day I talked to some of the other guests at the

I'm a huge hero. Really. But spiders, not my forte. After a night flight, a day of meetings and a business dinner, I came back to the room exhausted. I laid down in bed, looked around a bit and suddenly I saw a huge black spot on the wall next to me ... After a quick inspection, I was horrified - it was indeed an abnormally large and hairy spider. I was immediately wide awake and sat up in bed. I looked at him motionless. And he at me. Our stare-off went on for hours. I'm afraid of monstrous spiders and especially if they are next to my bed. I did not dare to kill him, I was afraid to move. After a few hours (it must have been around 3 am) I had to go to the toilet and switched on the big light. And when I returned ... he was gone! What is worse than a monstrous spider on your wall? A monstrous spider somewhere in your room, perhaps in or next to bed. For me, a concept incompatible with sleep. Not only did I have this spider to keep me out of my sleep, there was also a collection of mosquitoes swarming around my head, 3 of which I helped to another world. Of course I could not go to the reception for help or to request another room, because there was no night reception. I didn't sleep at all. I did, however, pay the entire amount at check-out. I find that unacceptable. If there is a wolf spider (after investigation) and a swarm of mosquitoes in a hotel room, the experience is terrible and must be compensated. I had a super important business acquisition meeting the next morning, while having to overcome a total lack of sleep and energy. Your employee told me next morning that it wasn't your fault. Yes that can be true but that does not make it ok. If I order a cup of coffee in a cafe and a fly lands in it by accident, I'm also not expected to drink the cup of coffee and pay... I gave you the opportunity twice to react by email, and you didn't. I'm sorry to put it out here for the world to see but I think it is necessary for people to adjust expectations. Please see pictures for proof.

I read a few reviews about this place before staying here so I knew the rooms were small. I had a nice stay, the room was fine, comfortable bed, nice shower, double glazed and reasonably quiet. I was woken a couple of tume by outside noise but nothing major. Breakfast was also nice, continental. The location was good, 5 mins walk from station and town centre. I was visiting for football and this was perfect for just one night. Would stay here again.

We are a group of 5 experienced Mexican travelers. Twice have we stayed at the "Leuven City Hostel", in order to catch the Rock Werchter Festival. The first one, 2 years ago, went well. The second one, was the worst experience of our lives. The morning of June the 30th, we were woken up  by some loud bangs onto our room door: it was the Police. They were accusing one of our friends of having stolen an iPhone 6 from the restaurant in front called Sarah's where we had breakfast a day before. They claimed they had "irrefutable evidence" in the form of video footage proving the felony. They were demanding to give the phone up or they would search the room. We were so confused and intimidated but we had nothing to hide so we cooperated. By that moment we were scared and anxious about what was gonna happen next. Our friend was in shock repeatedly stating she had not stolen the phone. I want to provide a little background about ourselves: we are respectful, working people. We don't need to steal nor does it match our morals. So we were shook. How did this happened? We carry newer and more expensive phones than an iPhone 6, we brought Nikon cameras, tablets and Nintendo Switch devices with us. It's stupid to think we will risk everything by stealing in another country. And then be stupid enough to steal at the place where we are spending the night! It doesn't make sense. During the search, the Police were realizing that the whole accusation didn't make sense either based on our belongings, we do not fit a criminal profile. Also one of the officers spoke Spanish and was secretly listening to our conversation which proved further we had nothing to hide. By the time they were done with the search, they didn't find anything (obviously) they proceeded to take our friend to the police station to make a statement. We agreed to meet them there. Here's where it got messier: The Police had left when the owner/manager came to us and started yelling at us. He went out of his way calling us criminals, liars, claimed we were dangerous and kicked all of us out or he would call the police again. He said we had 5 minutes to pack and leave. Can you imagine? 5 minutes? After the police search, all of our belongings were mixed and on the floor. We might have left some stuff behind we don't know it yet. We understand the position of the owner to make us leave because of the "negative image" they were giving the other guests and neighbors by keeping us there, HOWEVER, he acted completely insane, rude and arrogant for an unresolved situation. It was truly scary. He was completely certain of our friend's fault and that was pretty strange. Now: we never doubted our friend, but we were taken aback by the fact that they had "evidence of the crime"; perhaps she took it by mistake, I thought, or maybe they confused her very own IPhone 6S with the stolen one... Anyway we cooperated and left the place.. By the time we arrived to the Police station, we were

We booked a couple of rooms for a weekend break - there was a summer festival on so Leuven was packed. The staff were really helpful from the start, and we were impressed with the way they managed to remain friendly and calm, even when they were busy. Our rooms were spotless, well laid out and had pretty much everything you could need (although the addition of a kettle would have been nice). We slept well on the comfortable beds, and made good used of the air con as it was pretty hot outside. The soundproofing was very effective and we didn't get disturbed although the hotel was full. The breakfast choices were great, particularly the waffle machine, and we also enjoyed a few beers in the reception area bar. We can fully recommend Ibis Beer, a specially brewed bottled beer created by Ibis staff members. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay - the hotel is in a good location, close to the city centre, and we thought it provided good value - it's much better than many of the budget hotels we've stayed in before, and also exceeded some of the more expensive hotels we've experienced in the past!

We stayed here for one night on our way from the Uk to Germany. As we stayed on a Sunday night we got a great rate and upgraded to a "Charming room" with a great spa bath in a massive bathroom. Room was nice although in some places furniture looked a bit worn around the edges. As the hotel was fairly empty we had a quiet and peaceful night sleep in a super comfy bed. Breakfast was included in the rate and good. We really enjoyed the central location with everything in walking distance and although the underground parking garage is not cheap at Euro 25 it was super convenient. Leuven is a lovely place and we would happily stay again in this hotel on our travels.

The hotel is in an excellent location for all travellers and particularly those without a car being directly opposite the train station, it is attached to a good brasserie and within a short walking distance from the town centre. As we had larger size luggage the staff assisted in carrying them up the stairs to our room. The rooms are spacious with pleasant clean décor the bed was very comfortable, the ensuite was clean and functional. Good Wi-Fi in the room. A great buffet breakfast with both cooked and continental available. All staff we friendly, polite and attentive. Would stay again if we return to area.

I've been to Leuven a couple of times now but this was my first stay at Hotel Malon and I'm torn about this review. The location is terrific, right across the street from the train station that made getting from and to Leuven from Brussels very easy. The square outside Hotel Malon is typically active and fun with a number of interesting restaurants and bars. I liked the people who work at Hotel Malon. I have a bit of an odd routine (e.g. early-morning breakfast in the cafe in my workout clothes while doing some work at the breakfast table) but they were very accommodating. But my room was awful. I had no windows. I had no TV. I had no air-conditioning, only a fan that didn't do much to cool my room during the relatively warm nights we had during my stay. (The ability to open a window most likely would have mitigated this issue.) They have no exercise room, but they also have no elevator so after my daily runs around Leuven I got even more exercise walking up 3 flights of stairs (which I don't mind). However walking up 3 flights with luggage is not fun. Normally, I would give them a terrible rating, but the location and staff prevent me from doing so. My advice: Call ahead and make sure you get a room with windows and a TV.

memorable re-discovery of a town where we studied - tiring but the hotel gave us the ideal opportunity to relax, with a good meal in a pleasant atmosphere - we had a nice chat with the English visitors at the table next to us. Bathroom ideal with separate toilet. We felt at home and that's the best criterium to give an evaluation. Very friendly and professional staff.
