My husband and I stayed here for the weekend and couldn’t recommended it high enough - it’s superb. I can’t believe that someone has given this place an average review stating they were disappointed. Anka on reception gave us lots of information upon arrival and while she’s not there the whole day, there’s always Google or TripAdvisor that equally work as efficient guides. If you need hand-holding as a tourist then a quiet, stylish boutique hotel might not be for you - perhaps a large, overcrowded chain hotel instead? Bova’s location is perfect and the views of the harbour as soon as you step out are stunning. We didn’t have time to use the pool although we had a quick look (very nice and clean) but the breakfast (which is about £9 per person) is very good. We would definitely come back to Bova again. We found it last-minute on here as we drove into Dubrovnik so we’re lucky that a room was available after a cancellation. Thanks to Sanja and Anka.

We first visited this hotel in 2001 . We were impressed with the friendliness of the staff and the location. Just a leisurely stroll from the wonderful fortified town of Dubrovnik. We have returned twice since then and each time have introduced friends to the emotional experience that Dubrovnik invokes in ones body and soul. I hope the fans of “Game of Thrones “ and the guided tours have not spoiled one of my favourite places.

Visited here in July with my husband and two teenagers. Arrived to apartment at top of hill taxi dropped us off thankfully at the top so had only a few meters of steps to go do.. Needed to phone to get details of how to get into our apartment. Had sent message via what's app but had not seen that. Located keys and were given a one bed apartment with two beds in living area (had booked 2 bedroom) and one air conditioning unit in apartment.. Next day changed to floor below two two bedroom apartment but again only one air conditioning unit not sufficient to cool apartment we given a noisy fan but could not use as could not sleep with noise and made no difference to air temperature. The kitchen was small with hob fridge microwave, kettle and coffe maker. One window up high that you could not see out, table and 4 chairs. No living area to with five station in main bedroom. Main bedroom had no main light when we asked were told could not be repaired until we left. We're supplied with two bed side lamps but only one socket at head of bed! Our biggest problem was ANTS they were everywhere in the apartment when we complained were told it was a problem!!! We were given a spray and a small ant box/trap was place in kitchen made no difference. Could only store food in fridge as they were in biscuits in the top press one morning, disguising. Wifi hardly ever worked again we complained as we had specifically requested wifi and air conditioning again no result if you stood in the hallway you may get if get it few minutes. bathroom had bath and hand held shower, curtain rail very flimsy kept falling down. Door handles fell off 3 doors again when reported this were told this happens, my husband actually fixed two of them only needed screw to tighten so these could have been fixed prior to our stay. Good points. The two ladies who cleaned did a great job everyday and were very pleasant but could not delete the ants for us. The pool was lovely and lovely view very quiet most of the time on our own out there. Location is good near supermarkets and restaurants old city a nice walk over and take a bus back to bottom of steps. Lots of steps around this area not suited for any family wit small children or buggies. These problems need to be rectified before I could recommend this apartment to anyone.

Of the 13 rooms at this beautiful hotel, only 5 were used during our 10 day stay. The hotel arranged pick up from the airport, and 25 minutes later we arrived at the hotel. On arrival, we had our temperatures checked and recorded by reception. All staff within the hotel had protective masks, and hand sanitiser readily available. We were fortunate to be given a room upgrade, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The room was immaculately clean as were the bathroom facilities.fine attention to detail, and cleaned daily. We arrived early evening and had a great welcome pack with wine. Breakfast was served in the courtyard , a la carte, with a wide range of hot, cold dishes and the choice was amazing, as my waistline would suggest. We pretty much had the pool to ourselves which is at the of the property, and even if the hotel was full there are enough sun loungers to go around, a pool bar , and sauna. There is a beautiful terrace on the upper level, overlooking the Marina and the super yachts. We tend to eat out in the evenings, and there is plenty of choice within walking distance as we didn’t want to use public transport.A 10 minute walk will generally offer something for everyone. The Old Town is a good 40 minute walk, but the pavements are sound and well lit, and always felt safe. Strangely, we benefitted from the lack of cruise ships and mass tourism . A huge shame for the local tourist industry and I truly hope it bounces for them next year. We would like to thank all at the Kazbek , especially Jenny & Anton for a great relaxing, safe break. We thoroughly would recommend this hotel if your next holiday of choice is Croatia. Thank you. Malcolm & Lynn

Very nice hotel, close to Sunset beach. Staff very helpful, pleasant learning was that they have a gluten free bread available for breakfast. It is easy to walk to the sunset beach through a little korzo full of restaurants and bars. Also not too far to the old town.

Exceptionally good served by the most polite and welcoming Croatian waitress we have had during the visit, The food was exceptional and so full of taste using local produce. I can not recommend enough, very often food looks good but is missing taste, this food was well seasoned and very very well put together, if you come to Dubrovnik this is one not to be missed.

I booked this hotel for my honeymoon after staying here 4 years ago with family. I decided to return to this hotel for various reasons, but mostly because of the homely, friendly welcome you receive when you arrive. This family run hotel is perfect for those who want to see the sights but don’t want to stay in the hustle and bustle of Dubrovnik old town. It is located near Gruz harbour, 30-minute walk from the town or 10 minute bus ride with bus stops very close to the hotel. The restaurants in this area are so much nicer and so much more reasonably priced than in the old town. The hotel itself is lovely. The best thing about it is the staff, who remembered me from my previous visit! They were always there to give advice and help book trips. Marianna, who was always there at breakfast to chat and give us hints and tips for the day, was very welcoming and friendly – a great way to start each day! When we arrived at the hotel we were upgraded to a room with an amazing view (even better than the already great views from other rooms). The rooms are spacious, very clean and well equipped. We were also given gifts because it was our honeymoon! We made use of the hotel spa and the pool is a nice area to relax after a long day of exploring. The pool also has an honesty bar! During our visit the hotel put on happy hours most days, with free nibbles to have and a good drinks menu. When we visit Dubrovnik again, we have already decided that we will be staying at this hotel, it was absolutely perfect and very well situated for our needs. We highly recommend it!

The apartment has 51 steep steps, from street level up to the rooms. Which is ok if you are relatively fit, not if you need lift access, as there isn't one. The owners live underneath, and are there to welcome you; we had a warm welcome, and given local information by their daughter. There are 2 bedrooms, both with comfortable, clean beds, bedding provided. The lounge has air conditioning, which works well to cool down the apartment after a hot day sightseeing/beach. If you keep bedroom doors open, the A/C keeps you comfortably cool. The bathroom has a washing machine in it, but dials are in Croatian, so a translation note on top of machine might be useful. Towels provided. A simple but useful kitchen, which is equipped with basics, and there were a few extra provisions in the cupboards, thank you. It was my husband's birthday during our stay; and we got a knock on the door from the owner with a basket of wine and muffins. A very thoughtful gesture, thank you. The apartment is situated at the top of the promenade, which leads down to the beach, with restaurants on the way. And just off of the promenade, next to tennis courts, is a Hypermarket. Close by to apartment, is bus stop, where you can get number 6 bus, which will take you in to the Old Town, which takes about 15 minutes. You buy the tickets, NOT on the bus, but from a kiosk at bus stop or there is a kiosk opposite bus stop. Buses do get very busy... they cram you in! Opposite the apartment there is a nice bakers shop, friendly lady owner, which is open all day, serving breads and pastries etc. There are plenty sunbeds on the pebble beach; it looks newly renovated and very nice & clean. However the cost is high: 120 kuna (£14.50) per bed in standard place; 150 (£18) for the more exclusive area. This price includes an umbrella. We found it too expensive to use.

I cannot recommend these these apartments highly enough! Marija and her family are beautiful people that want to make sure your stay is as memorable as possible. The apartments are lovely and modern and extremely comfortable. The feel very safe and secure from the main road. Marija has thought of everything possible to equip the apartments with everything needed. Even down to washing up liquid, washing up sponge, dishwasher tablets, toilet rolls and shampoo and shower gel. I am sure many travellers know that this is very rare when staying self catering. The apartments are spotless and the pool area is beautiful, a massive hit with the kids for rest days from travelling about! Definitely the best apartment we have stayed in while travelling! It extremely well located for Dubrovnik old town and Lapad. With some great local bakeries and shops for local food. As well as some amazing restaurants. Thank you Marija and your family for such an amazing stay! ❤️❤️❤️

We loved our stay at Valamar President. The views are absolutely incredible, and well worth staying for alone. We booked a superior room, which came with a seating area and a huge balcony, which was well worth it. V Level was not really worth it for our stay as it was so quiet, but guests with V Level do get a special area at the pool, on the beach and inside as a lounge. During our stay it was very quiet due to the coronavirus pandemic, but we felt very safe throughout and suitable measures had been taken across the hotel. I would particularly recommend having a massage or other treatment in the spa - so relaxing, and good value. The hotel is really well located with a bus stop directly opposite (buy your tickets in the hotel shop), but we also accessed a couple of places via Uber, which was super quick. We walked into Lapad most days (20 minute walk, but the path can get very hot!), which had some good places to eat lunch. The hotel was very quiet during our stay, but we would thoroughly recommend it. Reception staff were excellent (thank you Dragan in particular!) and organised a late check out for us due to a late flight. This was hugely appreciated, and really went above and beyond. The food was really nice and served buffet style during coronavirus, with staff serving. All quick and nicely done. Great service from Bozena in the piano bar! We were sad to not be able to visit Montenegro or Mostar during our stay as we enjoy day trips. However, we did go to the Elaphiti Islands. Personally for us, this trip was a little long (8.5 hours) as so many souvenir shops, etc were closed on the islands due to coronavirus. However, it’s a good trip if you like snorkelling and swimming. Thank you for a brilliant stay!

We stayed in hotel for 3 days, 2 nights. Hotel was very clean, and nicely designed. Hotel appears like bussines type of hotel, but nevertheless, we felt there very comfortable and welcome, no matter that we were there with two young children. Staff was extremely decent, polite and helpful. Special regards to restaurant manager, Mr. Jozo, who was a top class! There was also a really nice heated indoor pool, as well as a decent sauna and spa offer. In hotel surrounding there were few nice parks, children playgrounds and long walking area along the coast and beaches. We sincerely hope that hotel will find a good way to cope with the corona crisis and also to find a way to keep the jobs for their outstanding staff. Best regards from happy guests!

We stayed here for the last part of our honeymoon and we were blown away. We had booked a suite but we got upgraded to a deluxe suite, based on the corner of the hotel with our own hot tub on the balcony. The room was huge, spacious and clean. Love the feel of the rooms and decor fits in very well with Dubrovnik. Staff were absolutely amazing, so attentive particularly the guy working at the pastry and cocktail bar. So friendly, gave us advice on the area and anything else we needed. Breakfast was fantastic- not buffet due to Covid but the staff give you a selection of everything and then you can order any hot items. The hotel is in a beautiful location, lots of nice restaurants within walking distance as well as swimming spots. The cave bar and sea area at the hotel is great, and sectioned off away from the promenade. The hotel has a confusing lift system which takes a couple of turns to get used to. Pool was small but nice but you cannot complain as you are right by the sea and the hotel also has a second pool in the other building. We took a private sunset boat trip run by the hotel which was incredible and worth every penny! Everything was just perfect, thank you so much we loved everything about our stay! Would highly recommend.

Took a while to decide whether to give hotel 3 or 4 stars.. went with 4 because it did have essentially everything. Location: perfect in terms of wanting to go to old/new town. Visited middle of October so I suppose the small paths were not packed walking to the old town. I couldn't imagine the walk in peak season. It was about 15 minutes and the walk was a little tougher coming back but not hard if you are even basic fitness levels. Dubrovnik city is beautiful in both day and night. Eat before you go there because a complete rip off for food, slice of pizza 8.50euro. Main road walks down to new town but it is beautiful. Such a difference but the beach is amazing and definitely reccomend going to the Cave bar to chill and look at views along with sunset. If you don't mind a little walk perfect location Hotel: it's a nice hotel, clean and spotless I think everywhere. Main ladies toilets did smell terrible every day,be fine if it was just one day. Our room over looked the sea which was AMAZING.. absolutely made the most of this. Pool is absolutely useless, honestly no point of it being there. No sun what so ever gets there and pool is freezing at all times of the day. This was a huge negative for the hotel for me. I don't like swimming at the beach so did not get to swim at all. I asked the reception at any time does the sun shine there to which I was told 9 to 4..clearly not the case as the sun does not shine on the pool at any stage of the day. Genius who ever build the hotel completely around the pool. The restaurant was nice and food also was grand, nothing special, lacked flavour and sauces were bland. Deserts were terrible. They were basically all different mouse cream textured desserts with a different flavour on each and a different biscuit or cereal topping it off. Wine was also shocking, glass of house wine tastes like whiskey..literally!! Bar area was nice and modern and outside area nice also. Staff: reception were nice, they at least tried to half smile or acknowledge you. Nothing friendly or welcoming about any of the staff. No hello when passing or any form.of conversation. Bar staff would not even say hello when taking the order, did not use any words. Drop drinks, bill and go. I don't know if it's an English barrier or there just sick of tourists but big turn off for me. A little effort or conversation goes a long way. A simple hello would suffice. Bedroom: bedrooms are nice. Very small so glad I'm not claustrophobic. Beds were very comfortable and bedding and pillows lovely also. Bathroom was also nice but hated the glass sliding doors. There terrible.. no privacy really as you can see in the side of the doors. Bathroom was clean and plenty of towels etc. Room itself had all basics..telly, kettle, desk area.there is a mini bar also in the room. Now it may be a Irish thing but I dont think I've ever stayed in a hotel with a mini bar and did not want it there because obviously all over priced for what your getting. Asked

Beautiful location, just on the edge of the old town, with an unbeatable view of the city, but only a short walk to the centre. Our luggage was spray cleaned and our temperatures checked on arrival, with staff wearing masks. Our sea view room was probably what I’d describe as a bit more of a side sea view, but it was a good size and we could see the island of Lokrum and received a complimentary bottle of fizz to help celebrate our anniversary. Breakfast was included, and served a la carte but had all the choice you would expect from a buffet style offering. The Abakus piano bar (whilst we never saw the piano actually played) has a beautiful terrace, happy hour deals and staff were very friendly and helpful. Both venues have the same beautiful view across to the old town. We had thought to visit the restaurant Prora, however as they were not serving dinner and only lunch, we instead enjoyed some bar food at Abakus. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone planning to visit Dubrovnik.
