The most frightening of all the hotels I stayed in was that there were a lot of hotel rooms, the room was open to the outdoors, there were homeless people outside, and there were two people upstairs staring at me when I checked in to get things. The bed is too soft and uncomfortable.

The food was grab and go and being allergic to cinnamon and berries breakfast was, an un satisfying piece of fruit and coffee. Not sure why they haven’t changed the breakfast back to the waffles. The front desk staff was nice and friendly and the towels were extremely soft, fluffy and was almost completely un-scented. The pool area was poorly lit and it looked like a good setup for a murder scene. The hot tub only had one jet working but at least the water was hot. I was shocked they had a sauna that actually worked well. The bed frame had blood on it and the mattress cover was dirty, But because the floor didn’t have carpet, the floor was well cleaned.

Absolutely horrendous stay here. 1 star hotel in every sense of the word. I have stayed in many Hampton Inns while traveling and this was by far the worst one. Since the manager replies to everyone with the same disingenuous comment instead of addressing legitimate concerns, I plan on writing to Hilton management directly in regards to this particular location. For one, the rooms are very dated and could use a deep clean. The room was freezing and our wall thermostat had an error message the moment we walked in the room. Bathroom was very slow to drain and the floor of the bathtub creaked with every step. My husband showered for 10 minutes and there was a pond of water waiting for me. The beds were horrendous. The mattress was so old and cheap I could feel what I thought were the bed springs? My husband and I were exhausted after driving 8 hours, and yet we tossed and turned all night. When we finally fell asleep probably at 4 or 5am, we were awoken just past 9AM by housekeeping. I was bewildered by why they were knocking on doors at that hour - they don't have a list of rooms that have checked out early? They just haphazardly knock on all the doors and wake everyone up? Told the lady we were checking out in a couple hours and she said she’d come back later. I just started dozing off again and 15 minutes later either she or another person knocked AGAIN! Avoid this place!

The staff at the counter had a good attitude. There was no shower curtain in the bathroom when I checked in. The equipment was replaced after notification. The equipment was a bit old. There were vagrant activities near the hotel. I was worried about the house, but it was still safe.

Well the lady at the front desk was extremely rude . When I tried to explain bmy situation she just wasn't hearing it . I made a reservation online and y'all should out that you DO NOT rent to residents here in Albuquerque . Which probably would of made it a lot easier because even if y'all did rent to residents I will NEVER EVER STAY HERE AGAIN . I WAS PROFILED AT THE DOOR. SHE TREATED ME AS IF I WAS A CHILD . We booked the spot because it seemed affordable and the pictures made it seem like a modest, but comfortable, stay. I don't know where they got the pictures we saw online but they didn't match the room at all. The first sign that things were a little off should have been the graffiti on all the lamp posts in the parking lot. I was apprehensive but we went ahead and paid for the room, when we got to the room it was way worse than I could have expected. There were no towels, a tiny bit of toilet paper was left on the roll with no new toilet paper. There was clearly water damage in the bathroom and the room smelled like a disgusting mix of ********/tobacco. We've staying in filthy places before but the deal breaker was the state of the bed, particularly the handprint still on the sheet. Along with the handprint that prompted a is that a blood stain or fresh makeup argument, there were holes and stains both old and new on the bedspread. There was no chance that we were going to stay there a second more than the 25 minutes we were actually in the room. The woman at the desk did offer to put us in another room, i guess that's the only good part, but no thank you. They didn't refund any of the money, I mean the odds where as close to zero as it gets, so you've been warned.

San Mateo Inn

I've stayed at numerous motels and hotels in the Albuquerque area but the San Mateo Inn is a hidden jewel. I've been to Sandia (dirty room) and Nativo (old musty smell), to name a couple off the top of my head, but this time chose the San Mateo Inn on 2/28/2023. It was a wonderful experience. I pulled in around 8PM and found a friendly lady at the check-in counter. She told me exactly how to get around the building to my room with a stop at the ice machine. I asked if she had a container I could use for ice so I didn't have to make an additional trip out of my room; it was after dark. She accommodated me kindly. The room was spotlessly clean and I asked for a quiet room, which is what I got. The bed was comfortable and had a variety of pillow types. I was quite comfortable and slept well. Large spotlessly clean bathroom. I was also advised that the Denny's, which was next door and very close, gave a 10% off discount to San Mateo patrons. Definite recommend. Great price for a great stay!

I usually stay at La Quinta hotels because they all seem to be pretty good. This one had a very poor free breakfast. Most of the things were single serve items and looked like it was from Costco. Good thing there were plenty of restaurants around that served food, even a grocery store and a Seven Eleven. The pool was really cold even though it was still early September. The staff was really nice and the grouds were fairly clean (too many people with dogs pooping in the grass and not cleaning it up). I would stay here only if I had too. There are too many places in the same price range that have cleaner grounds and a better free breakfast.

My company hosted a four day event from Tuesday, September 20, 2022 to Friday, September 23, 2022. Erika in catering went above and beyond to make our event run as smoothly as possible, doing the job of multiple people. After the AC not working in one of the conference rooms for two days, Erika took the initative to switch our event to a different room with working AC. During the lunch rush in the hotel restaurant, Erika was taking orders, serving drinks, bringing out orders, and busing tables for 30 to 40 people, at times by herself, with no complaints, only apologies for being understaffed. Erika is truly an asset to this hotel, a joy to work with, and always has a smile on her face. On another note, the hotel is shabby. AC didn't work in the Lounge on the club level and at times in my room.

As this is an airport, I only had very modest expectations, but those expectations were certainly exceeded. The front desk staff was very friendly and courteous at both check in and out. There is a small fridge stocked with complimentary bottle water at the lobby. Complimentary cookies are also available. The shuttle driver was also friendly, and the shuttle arrived for airport pickup shortly after I called the hotel. The room was spacious, clean and functional (the only thing slightly odd was the spot-light style lighting around the work desk- but it's just a very minor thing). There is a small fitness center right by the lobby - the machines are in good condition. Like all other Townplace properties, it offers complimentary breakfast; and I thought the quality of the breakfast was above-average. The lobby area feels bright and clean. Overall, this property offers excellent value and convenience.

I honestly do not have any complaints about my stay. In fact, quite the opposite. From making the reservation, to the check-in/out process and everything in between, it was a great experience. The room was very clean, the price was extremely affordable and the staff was beyond professional, kind, courteous and willing to go above and beyond, especially a manager named Tony. Tony made us feel welcome and as if we were a part of the Hilton family. I have no doubts that is will be our go-to hotel EVERY time we visit Albuquerque.

One of the best hotels in Albuquerque Rosie took care of us. I had asked her if she could have fresh coffee for us at 4 a.m., and she did; she even requested a cab for us. #1- The hallway carpet is filthy and disgusting. #2- when you’re walking to your room, you can hear every conversation that all the other people are having in their rooms and it is pretty loud as we could hear a baby crying from the front desk while checking in. I heard some lady loudly moaning (ahem.. if you know what I mean), while I was walking down the hall to take these pics. #3- They charge you a mandatory $150 cash deposit on check in and will walk through your room the next day to make sure nothing is damaged then return the $ next day. However I have never been anywhere that did that. #4- there is a crack hotel across the street, with raggedy looking people hanging around outside, which makes it dangerous to leave your belongings in your vehicle. Positive- the room was actually clean- which was extremely surprising after walking through the filthy hallway to get to it. I was prepared to walk out and lose my $ at this point if the room was not at least clean. The flooring and bedroom furniture are new which was also very surprising. We stayed to see the room #1- because it was non refundable and was $97 for the night so reasonable for a hotel price. But I would not stay here again.

A knock on our door at 8pm my wife opened the door to be met by the front desk lady aggressively telling her “multiple complaints about excessive noise and shouting from our room, she had listened at our door and heard screaming and if she got one more complaint we would have to leave the hotel”. I called back down stairs as I was in shock - i thought she must have the wrong room - the only noise was from our perhaps boisterous 6 year old who was watching a kids show on YouTube kids. But she again reiterated “screaming” and that we would be forced to leave. In my opinion I don’t think you could find a quieter family. Certainly the TV would have made more noise. Shocking unbelievably bad customer service - simply asking us to keep the noise down as someone had complained would have been sufficient - but the instant escalation to leave the hotel…..left us feeling very upset. If we disturbed someone at 8pm in the evening, we are truly sorry. The noise insulation seemed good in the hotel - we only heard occasional doors closing and the freeway traffic outside. We had got in from dinner around 7:15pm after a 9 hour drive. After the complaint at 8pm we spent the next 45 mins whispering and stressing that somehow we were going to be put out in the street in a Saturday night in Albuquerque, before going to sleep. Needless to say it was a restless night sleep. As for the hotel, we stayed at a Holiday Inn Express hotel the night before in Fort Worth. So we had a direct compare and contrast. In Albuquerque the shower did not work and there was a problem with the functionality of the blackout shades. The breakfast was a little disappointing as there was only half of the items offered actually available (the sausage and biscuits were great). No yogurts, cinnamon roles, bread for toast. And there was a distinct absence of any staff replenishing food, or cleaning tables etc. Check in was also odd - we had booked a prepaid non cancellation 2 x queen bed room (for our family of 4). Arrived around 5pm. At check in “sorry I don’t have that room, but I do have a king suite with a sofa bed; the hotel is fully booked”. I explained that didn’t work for us, we needed two beds. After some time on the computer the lady said ok, I have a room for you “someone else is going to be disappointed when they check in tonight”. I have no idea what the criteria used to select disappointing a guest were. Overall something just not right with the way this property was running.

This was my 2nd stay within a month at a Drury hotel(Albuquerque and Las Cruces NM), and is the best I've experienced with a supportive but soft bed(what I would call Medium Firm) and soft, airy pillows, which is #1 for me when I travel. The rooms are always clean and no smoke smells anywhere. The only thing I would like to see change is replace those 50-year old design noisy in-room air conditioners with a modern mini split unit with real air filtration. In a post-covid world, the future is hotels that are clean and bio-safe.

We have stayed at Holiday Inns all over and have never had an experience like this. The first elevator had a water leak and the other elevator was a tiny closet with LED lights that were flickering on and off. The room smelled like mildew, the lights in the bathroom didn’t match each other(cool and warm) and one light was out. The shower had a big moldy spot on the ceiling and some of the floor tiles in the bathroom were cracked. Others felt like they would crack any second as they rocked. The bed was THE MOST UNCOMFORTABLE BED I HAVE SLEPT IN! Or not slept in. It felt like we were sleeping on a box spring instead of a mattress, though I confirmed it was indeed a (terrible) mattress. There were no hotel rooms to move to at this hotel or any other because the balloon festival was going on all week. We shortened our stay and left. For the huge amount of money we spent to stay there we should have been sleeping in luxury and cleanliness. Would not recommend this property!

Just got back from a trip to New Mexico that took us to Albuquerque for one night. So glad I booked this hotel and would highly recommend it! Traveling with my Dad, the suite at this hotel was a great (and more affordable) alternative to booking two rooms. There was a door between the main bedroom and a ”living” area with a pullout sofa, so we each had our own space with our own TVs and separate bathrooms. I took the bedroom which I found to be clean and comfortable. Interaction with the front desk staff was especially pleasant. They were genuinely friendly and helpful. Did not try the breakfast because one of my favorite breakfast restaurants, Village Inn, was right next door. Overall, a really enjoyable stay at an exceptional value!

First the good: everyone was super helpful and accommodating, especially the ladies at breakfast. The made to order omelettes and pancakes were really good and the lady making them was so friendly and eager to please. The happy hour was also nice and the bar tender seemed to be a really good guy and was very efficient. The main desk staff were pleasant as well, no problems there. Here’s why I am giving 3 stars: The shower and shower curtain were not clean looking. The toilet bowl was the same way. I think it maybe just needs updated but it still left me with a gungy feel. Actually the whole Bathroom in general felt gross. Same with carpet. But here is the main reason why I would never come back: the water in the pool was so disgusting that I can’t even. There was no smell of chlorine or chemicals and the water was green and cloudy. Like real cloudy. So I thought it must be a saltwater pool so I swam but was still grossed out. The next day I asked the front desk if it was a saltwater pool which would explain the cloudiness and she said no it was chlorine. Girl, that pool hadn’t seen chlorine since like 1985. Ughhhhhhhh. So grossed out to be swimming in essentially dirty bath water. It was a busy pool. really hope the front desk clerk was wrong and if I find out it was a saltwater pool I will amend my review. But if this is correct, people clean up your pool!!!! So if you stay here, expect a great breakfast but stay out of the pool and don’t expect it to be a shiny and updated room because it is not. Or at least our room wasn’t. Yuck.

I really enjoyed my stay at this property, and was pleasantly surprised by the comfortable accommodations and amenities. It was convenient to check in via the Hilton Honors app and use the digital key system to access the hotel and room. The King suite was surprisingly spacious, with the bedroom separated from the living room/kitchenette. Everything was clean and well-maintained. The kitchenette was stocked with coffee maker, microwave, fridge/freezer, a few place settings, some utensils, and two cooking pots. The living room sofa was comfortable. Bed and pillows were also comfy. HVAC system worked well. There were enough outlets and some USB charging plugs. My only room complaint was low water pressure in the shower (possibly a water-saving feature). The hotel was fairly quiet. My room was on the side of the property facing Cutler Ave, and there was no traffic noise. Just occasional noise from other guests. The lobby and breakfast area were inviting. Coffee was always available in the lobby, which was a nice touch. The complimentary breakfast had a wide array of items, and even some local favorites like green chile stew and tamales. The hotel is in a fairly quiet area that felt safer than other parts of town. There were warnings about not leaving valuables in cars, but no overt problems. The hotel is conveniently located near a large shopping center and many restaurants. There is a Trader Joe’s within close walking distance. There is even a cat café close by. Most Albuquerque attractions and the airport were a 10-15 minute drive. Sandia Park is about 30 minutes.

Stayed for one night during a cross-country trip with my dog. I arrived late afternoon and after a couple of hours realized the noise from highway traffic just across from the hotel was going to be a problem. I asked at the front desk to see about any options to move rooms and the attendant immediately dismissed any options - despite the fact that it was still early - many rooms still open and I'm a Diamond member. Just no effort to look at another room for me. So, then, needing to find a grass area for my dog to do her business... none exists - just a rocky area across the parking lot - with 110 degree heat on her paws crossing the lot to a bunch of rocks. A homeless man with his dog were huddled nearby scaring the you-know-what out of us. (They also charge $75 per day extra for having a dog). The neighborhood is not good at all to put it mildly. The cost was above average for a Hampton Inn that has not been updated in decades. Overall, just a complete and utter FAIL.

This place saved us when our original hotel dropped the ball at 1 in the morning. Very helpful and friendly front desk staff. Rooms were impeccably clean and the beds are super comfortable. Breakfast is a step above your normal hotel breakfast. Biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, ham and potatoes are just a few of the options. Not to mention that had the coolest automatic pancake conveyer belt machine. I had never seen anything like it and it made 2 hot fresh pancakes in a matter of minutes. Made me want one for home. Great experience overall.

Worst hotel experience ever. The first thing I noticed upon entering was a strange chemical smell, not very pleasant. We checked in and went to our room. Our first room wasn’t clean and even though we paid extra for a mountain view it didn’t have one. We were moved to the fourth floor, still not much of a view of anything but the front door, and parking lot, don’t waste your money on the “mountain view “. Whatever. We went out and checked out our surroundings. When we came back the smell was even stronger and we could smell it throughout the hallways, thank God it didn’t stink in our room. The bed was awful. Neither of us slept very good. The shower was like a sand blaster, and there was no way to adjust the pressure. Everything about this room was awful. I booked through IHG and contacted them about canceling the rest of our stay at this hotel and was sent a copy of their cancellation policy, ugh. So we decide to try to make the best of it for the next two nights. We didn’t get much sleep the second night either. I went downstairs around 5 am to get coffee and got locked out of my room. The nice front desk guy couldn’t get me in either, I had to wait in the stinky hall for my husband to finish his shower and hear me knocking and let me back in. They said they’d fix it that morning, but that was the final straw. We checked out and went to a much better hotel for the remainder of our stay. The front desk person didn’t ask why we were leaving early, and nobody from Holiday Inn has said a word even after leaving a similar review on their app.

The door in the restroom fell out of its hinges from the bottom and fell on my babies as we were opening the door cuz it was stuck . It was an alright stay. I wouldn't say I wouldn't stay there again. As for trip.com u suck and didn't say what u said you would do so I had to pay for 2 days when u were supposed to get it refunded so we can go home I messaged someone the night I got there for a refund and the next day u went to leave and i had no choice but to stay because it was already 24hours. It was all so confusing!

First the good parts: easy access to I-40, right across from a travel center / gas station, pet friendly. Front desk staff when we arrived was helpful and pleasant. Now the bad: The surrounding area is sketchy, if I was by myself I wouldn't feel very safe here especially at night, although the rooms are on an inside corridor so that's a plus. Pet friendly BUT requires $30 deposit per pet. Dog area is behind the motel, if I had to take my dog out at night I wouldn't feel safe out there alone. Rooms are not upgraded, and ours (while visually clean) smelled bad. Towels were small & threadbare; only toiletries in the room were one small bar of soap and one small container of shampoo. Bed was reasonably comfortable but pillows were lumpy. Breakfast was just ok, at least they had a waffle maker. No coffee maker in the room, had to go to breakfast area for coffee. Just overall this motel seems run down and in need of major updates, especially for the price we paid. $130 with all the taxes and pet fee seems very high for this place. I would not stay here again with all the other options in the area.

The hotel is large and the rooms are large. The facilities are also complete. Our room is also relatively spacious. The hotel is not very convenient, there is no elevator, the residents on the second floor need to carry their own luggage. The breakfast was great and the dining environment was good. Although it was always provided by the old beauty, it tasted good and there were many types.

The room was clean and tidy, and the facilities were a bit old and basically the standard of an old American hotel. Mainly close to the hot air balloon, it is more convenient to catch the hot air balloon early the next morning.

We have stayed here numerous times. Usually before or after flight travel. The staff is so nice. Andrea and Annette have always been polite. They are in the process of updating the rooms, and have a new breakfast area that we can't wait to use. Go away COVID!
