We came here for dinner after a very long walk and were looking for a place to have cheese fondue! Although only served in the „Regis Stüble“( looked freshly renovated) it offers cosy atmosphere. Service was good and still we felt there was lots of traffic as there is a permanently open door from the restaurant into the kitchen. So, if you want it quiet, this is not for you. Still, it didn’t bother us and we felt they should put a sliding door in, that opens and closes by a motion sensor. Although the Stüble has an amazing fireplace, it wasn’t on, which was a pity as it could have made the atmosphere perfect. We had to change original place, as lights were shining in your face. We offered the Rösti as shared starter and it was delicious. We even got an amazing „greeting from the kitchen“, which was another dish in itself. As a main we had a great cheese fondue which was plentiful and even more so very tasty. We loved the choices of different breads, much appreciated. The rose wine was great, the red one was served too cold. Overall, a nice evening with good food in a nice atmosphere!. We will come back for hopefully another nice evening, next time on the terrace overlooking the lake!

Firstly on Weggis- 100% stay here rather than Lucerne. There’s not tons to do in Weggis save for cable car, boat trip and walks but the views are amazing and it’s the far better place to stay than some of the bigger towns. There’s a small supermarket and restaurants etc so certainly enough to be going on with. We visited Lucerne via boat and were so pleased we stayed in the quieter Weggis. The boat trip was fab. You really get the feel of being in the swiss lakes here which we didn’t get in Lucerne. Onto the hotel- It is partnered with hotel central so it is at that hotel where you check in, have breakfast etc. This was not a problem for us as it’s just a skip across a small car park to get there- if you think of it as basically a separate out building/wing of the main hotel that’s probably about right. Breakfast options were ok but nothing amazing. We stayed in the riviera loft which was their most expensive room. This room was on the ground floor and has its own private patio terrace with patio furniture, parisol etc. It is on the lake so you could step off the patio into the lake (stairs like in a swimming pool to it) and the views are uninterrupted. Room itself was gorgeous, lovely jacuzzi bath, comfy bed, great shower. So far so good. The room is advertised as having a kitchen/kitchenette which is why we booked the room given that we wanted to cook our own food. When we arrived we found that the kitchen was no more than a show kitchen. There was not a single spoon, knife, fork, plate or bowl in there. No saucepan, cleaning or cooking utensils or kettle. Save for a coffee machine with two tiny cups, it was empty. We raised it with one of the chaps from the hotel who appeared fairly junior. He was very kind but said that these items were not included and was not meant to be a fully equipped kitchen. We asked to speak to the manager as it seemed ridiculous to us that the place advertises a kitchen on booking.com when in reality the kitchen could not be used. We were also a bit disappointed by this particularly when we had paid nearly £650 for two nights. We spoke to the manager and long story short he was not very helpful and appeared to us to be very petty with customer service near to the bottom of his list. The fact that we had pre paid likely served as no incentive for him to care two hoots as to whether we were enjoying our stay or not. He seemed to think we were barmy for questioning why there was nothing to use to even make a cup of tea. We found him insincere. He kept only repeating that on booking.com whilst it said that it had a kitchen, it does not say it is equipped and we were not paying for an apartment but a hotel room. He said the kitchen would not be intended to be used unless if someone booked to stay for a month or more?! There is no option on booking.com to select kitchen and then to select equipped kitchen so his stance on this still makes no sense but there we are. Eventually we agreed with him that the bas

Lovely, friendly, reception staff with good language skills. Really loved this hotel. Booked lakeside rooms and the views just blew us away. Comfy beds, good showers, clean. Reasonable breakfast. Just wish we hadn’t eaten here!!The food was ok, the service was polite and friendly BUT - we knew as everyone does Switzerland is expensive, but hells bells!! Very different experience, no menu as such, just “fish” “ meat” or “ vegetarian”, they call it “ farm to table”. I can cope with that, local stuff and all that, I can cope with being adventurous, not really 100% knowing what I’m eating. It was flavoursome , not enough of it really, the dessert, again no real choice was dry and quite bland, and the local wine ( produced up the road apparently) was lovely but at 66 CHF a bottle, stupidly expensive, unfortunately and stupidly we didn’t ask the price, just asked for house wine. So my advice, stay here, lakeside room, you will not be disappointed but avoid the restaurant unless you don’t mind the above !!

We booked the birthday package and had two very enjoyable days at this lovely place. Already when we rang for information about this package we were treated so friendly and welcoming that we booked right away. It was a good decision. The double room superior in the fourth floor offers a beautiful view over the lake and the mountains, the food is very good, the staff extremely friendly, helpful, and motivated. Everything is spotless clean, and the little details like the water bottle with the Zirben (stone pine) wood cover add to the good atmosphere. We were there during the week and had the beautiful spa area almost to ourselves all day long. I enjoyed one of the best massages ever so I booked another one for the next day. The highlight in the spa was the floating!

We stayed here for three nights in August when we arrived after a long flight. Our room was very small, we chose poorly, but the staff was fine and the location very convenient. The boat is right outside and the cable car close by. Breakfast was very respectable with a good variety of breads, cereals, fruits, cheeses etc and boiled eggs. There are the usual expensive Swiss restaurants near by. Overall a good place and we would stay there again but in a larger room.

Stayed at this hotel for two nights on a weekend getaway. This is our second visit and purely by coincidence we had room 203, both times. Lovely large balcony with this room and a fabulous lakeside view. All of the hotel staff were welcoming and pleasant. Breakfast offers a great selection of warm and cold options and of course the wonder lakeside view from the terrace or the elegant dining room. The pool and spa area are lovely, the warm relaxing indoor pool is quite a treat. The view from this hotel is simply a feast for the eyes. The only improvement I would suggest is better pillows- these were very flat. The coffee machine in the room is a nice feature, it is truly a luxurious feeling to get up in the morning make a cup of coffee and enjoy the view from the privacy of your own balcony.

Our family of three had a three-night stay at Hotel Friedheim in June 2019 and our experience was thoroughly enjoyable. First off, this hotel sits on top of a small hill overlooking Lake Lucerne and the new is just gorgeous, especially when you have having breakfast in the morning outside the new building and you are looking at the lake and its surrounding hills and the mist, you can't beat that view. The location of the hotel is great too. It is about 5 minutes away on foot from the shore of Lake Lucerne and where the small shops and restaurants are, about 10 minutes away from the Weggis boat dock where you can take a boat to various places including Lucerne. Parking is free at the hotel, which is great. What's even better is the service. At check-in, we were greeted warmly and were given plenty of helpful advice as to how to get to some sights such as Mt. Rigi and Lucern, where to find parking etc. I had a package sent to Hotel Friedheim from Germany, expecting it to get there before we arrive in Switzerland; however due to custom and postal service delays the package did not arrive until we left Switzerland. Not only Hotel Friedheim accepted the package for me, they even offered to send me the package to my house in the US. They went above and beyond really and I feel greatly appreciated and thankful. Overall we were very happy with Hotel Friedheim and we'd love to return one day. Switzerland is a wonderful country with some of the nicest people in the world, including those at Hotel Friedheim.

We stayed in the hotel for 4 nights in a family suite, combining two rooms, which were great for the 4 of us. The bigger room had a great balcony, directly facing the lake. The other one faced back, but was great as well. Pity that we could separate the double bed only in the first room, so our kids were to enjoy it. Very clean, adequately maintained. A tea and coffee station on each floor, in addition to a very good breakfast. Hot and cold, including omelets cooked for you. The weather was nice, so we ate outdoors. There is a spa with indoor and outdoor pools, highly appreciated by our children. The whole town is a bit off the road. It's not a real issue, but the highway exit might be jammed and easy to miss during rush hours. The hotel parking is limited and might easily become an issue when there is an event in the hotel restaurant. The alternatives are down a steep hill, not really convenient. The place is not cheap, like everything in Switzerland, but provides a great value for money.

The hotel is under new ownership. It retains all of its basic elements, and fantastic views - but some of the genuine historic swiss country charm Gemütlichkeit, has been lost. There is no hotel owner here to greet you when you arrive. Just a machine for checkin -very strange and cold. Numerous antiques are gone, paintings of the family’s of the original owners and there ancestors, and paintings of swiss scenes and flowers - done in the style of Grandma Moses - are gone. The little basket of greetings in the room, the small plate of fruit, a pile of newspapers in the breakfast room, and an abundance of books and travel magazines in the upstairs hallways are gone. The restaurant staff are entirely separate from the hotel and as warm and friendly as the hotel is operators are totally absent. The complete separation of the restaurant from the hotel -each under different management and accounting - is awkward but after awhile the guests get accustomed to it. It is essentially like staying in a hotel without any restaurant at all, and walking across the path to an independent restaurant - except that the independent restaurant is right inside they hotel and you walk through it to get to your room. Frühstück itself is a bare skeleton of the bountiful buffet feast that former chef & co-owner Dorley presented. Now - Just coffee , oj, and a croissant. No table full of a dozen different swiss farm brots, a dozen jams and jellies, a dozen fresh fruits, a few dozen cheeses. I pass it up for a simple , but quite delicious, cappuccino. Perhaps the simple Frühstück now is due to this being early in the season - when high season arrives and the hotel is full, I’d hope they would present a full buffet for breakfast. Dinner is discussed in my separate review of the new ristorante. It is good Sicilian food- pasta and pizza with a good variety of italian and swiss wines , but this review now focuses on the hotel . The hotel rooms have been spruced up , a bit. Nicer soaps , BERGSONNE embroidered towels - defintely a step up. No one would confuse this with a Relais & Chateau, but it is a notch up from the past, and I sense that more improvements are planned. That said, the absence of a plate of fresh fruit in the room to greet a guest upon arrival, and the absence of the little basket filled with brochures about mountain activities was disappointing. When the hotel receptionist is absent, entry is by an ATM-look alike machine. those quaint little cowbell keys of the past have been replaced by the type of push-button keys found on the toilet doors in Tibits. Cold, But  more secure. The classic display of numerous Swiss antiques is missing. Many have been replaced in the dining room by B&W photos of famous Sicilians. They look good, but that vibe belongs in a city cafe, not a rural mountain top retreat. In 2019 we were at the Palace Hotel Bürgenstock twice, once in March and once in august. The location and the spa incl. outdoor pool is always a highlight. In March we had a deluxe alpine view room with balcony. Tip: ask for a corner room (e.g. no. 420), the corner rooms have a side view of the lake. In august we had an executive room Lake View with terrace (no. 112). Both rooms were the same size, same furnishings and differed only in the location and size of the balcony and the balcony furniture. The terrace in no. 112 was huge, but unfortunately no deck chairs and uncomfortable lounge furniture. No. 420 had no balcony furniture. The price difference is enormous. My tip: book a room with alpine view, the view to the mountains is also very nice and enjoy the lake view in the spa and on the terrace/bar. The service was not satisfying during both stays, especially during breakfast. Breakfast for all guests of the Palace AND the Bürgenstock Hotel was served at the Spices Restaurant. Spices was too small for the many guests. There were long waiting times for a table, there was far too little service staff, which was hopelessly overstrained (orders were forgotten, 20 minutes waiting time for an order...) and the staff did not come to the buffet with refilling. On the last morning, breakfast took place in a reception hall of the Palace. The buffet was a mini buffet and not comparable to the one in Spices. On the positive side, the breakfast tables were on the beautiful terrace with less crowd. We liked the outdoor pool, where there was hardly ever a crowd and a relaxed atmosphere (except for sometimes screeching children in the baby pool). The Bürgenstock hotels are overrun by day tourists. This has the consequence that the hotel appears less exclusive and there is a crowd at many places. Altogether a beautiful place, the balancing act between day guests and the exclusivity for hotel guests is a problem. The service has to be improved to make the hotel a real 5 star hotel. Here, the Park Hotel Vitznau is miles ahead.

Loved the location and the friendly staff. Breakfasts were a winner and it was great to see the owner in the mornings giving everyone a friendly Guten Morgen! Room was perfect for my needs and I will definitely return when I am next in Lucerne on business. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. My only regret was that I did not have time to try the restaurant next door.

Really disappointing experience as they expect us to live with the mess others created. When we arrived to our room, we were surprised that it’s rather tiny and a single big bed while we wanted a twin bed. Also, the carpet was wet. So we went down back to the receptionist to ask to change rooms. The receptionist was entertaining someone else (a couple) and we could hear their entire conversation: Receptionist: you were in room xxx and you made the whole floor wet. How did you flood the bathroom will the carpet in the room got wet? The girlfriend or Wife : I think he (pointing to her partner) didn’t close the shower curtains Receptionist: Don’t make your new room wet. Then they went off. Now the room number she quoted was our current room number. Shockingly, she let the couple move but when we approached her, she said your carpet is dry. I’ve checked blah blah. Too bad gift her that I took pictures and showed her proof on the spot that it’s still wet. I said how did you let the couple change rooms ? She said “no, I didn’t”. Then said paused and said “oh you heard that”. Guess what, she still refused to let us change rooms. Just said she will give us more towels to put on the carpet and spritz some air freshener which didn’t even help. Don’t bother staying in such a poor serviced hotel pls. No effort at all. Btw, she refused to spray more freshener got the room which had a wet stale smell and with the towel, we can’t even close the bathroom door! Doesn’t help us :( Pro: Ok to get to Bus stops nearby A small lift which is better than nothing if you have luggages Cons: Not in the main city centre Basic breakfast Staff gone by 9/10 pm but you can go across the road to the main hotel for any help
