This was our last stop in Costa Rica and we found it easily about 5 minutes away from the main Pacific highway. We were met by Lettika who welcomed us warmly and immediately introduced us to a mother 2 toed sloth and her baby living right outside the property in a palm tree! Wow! We had treated ourselves to the suite and it was stunning. It's really large and luxurious with a fantastic terrace and great furniture. The bed is a king, great shower and effective aircon. Just perfect. The pool area is lovely with fantastic plantings attracting a myriad of butterflies and even hummingbirds, it's also really clean and big enough to swim in! It also has swim up bar where they prepare fresh cocktails for you! There is tea and coffee always freely available which was a welcome touch. Breakfast was varied and freshly prepared to order. For me, the best thing is the location. The property lies just few minutes walk to the longest beach which has an abundance of bird life and very few people! It is also fringed by the jungle which is positively brimming with sloths! I met a guy called Alex who runs tours from Rafiki beach camp and he showed me where to look and what trees they liked...it was amazing! I went on a fascinating kayak tour with him which was also fab and went horse riding with Claudia where we not only galloped down the beach but saw avery active 2 toed sloth which is a real rarity. We stayed 6 nights at Jardin de los Monos and loved every moment... especially the noisy monkies, shy kinkajo, black squirrels, occasional toucans and assorted parrots. It has a real charm and we definitely will be returning. Thankyou!

The Copacabana Hotel and Suites is located right on the beach. For those who want to be on the beach while still have the option of hanging by a pool this hotel has multiple pools ( unlike most of the other hotels in the area ). Their main pool has a swim up bar. There is a restaurant on premise but the hotel is located i short block off the main strip where there are dozens of excellent restaurants to choose from. The staff was absolute fantastic. They were extremely friendly, helpful, and bent over backwards to make our vacation the best it could be. The only negative is that the hotel could use an update. On that note so could all the rest of the hotels in the area except for the newest one built. My wife and I will be heading back to Costa Rica and when we do we will absolutely make the Copacabana our destination

We stayed in one of the suites with multiple balconies, kitchen, plunge pool and couple bedrooms. Was more than enough room for us. The in unit washer and dryer was great to have. Would have liked to see another couch or other seating options as there was only a love seat and regular couch in the main room. I liked that the hotel was a little off the main street/beach area in Jaco. Short walk to the beach or less than 1000 colonies taxi. Even at night, the walk back from dinner was no problem. We never felt like we were in danger. Just be aware of your surroundings like any other place. Pool area was nice. Right outside the restaurant so there was drinks and food available. The morning breakfast which was included was nice to have. It was pretty much the same each day, so we ventured out a few times to change it up Overall was a great place to stay

I came to this resort for a solo birthday trip. I was turning the big 30 and had no one to travel with me so after doing extensive research, I decided on this resort for my first solo trip. It was the BEST decision I could’ve made. From the moment I stepped off the plane I was amazed by the customer service with my flight transport. It did take a little while to get to the resort but I didn’t mind as I was taking numerous photos and enjoying the scenery. Check in was a little of a hassle, but not due to the resort. My flight got cancelled numerous times (go figure Spirit) and I booked my stay through a third party and the third party was still trying to charge me for the additional day I wasn’t there. Luckily the manager at the front desk took care of everything for me! My room was amazing!! I had never seen a hotel room like it before (I will attach photos). It was spacious, clean, and I had a phenomenal view. This is an all inclusive resort so each night I would switch up which restaurant I would eat at (The breakfast selection was always my favorite part of the day). On my last night, I ate at the Italian restaurant. The staff sung Happy Birthday and completely went out of their way to make my night special. During the duration of my stay, I booked a few excursions. The concierge manager Mr Kelvin Flores was patient with me and gave great recommendations for last minute excursions. Finally, I booked horseback riding in the rainforest (Where the final destination was a waterfall that we were able to jump in) and ATV riding. This was the most beautiful experience I’ve ever encountered. I also met some of the most amazing people during my trip. My birthday trip was a success and it was all because of every single member at Croc’s Resort. I was very hesitant and nervous traveling in a new country by myself but I felt relieved after my stay here. I definitely recommend this hotel/resort 100% and whenever the COVID restrictions lift as far as traveling, I will definitely be going back to Costa Rica and staying at Croc’s! Thank you to everyone there for making my birthday a memorable event for me! (Update: unfortunately I can’t post videos but those were where my waterfall and rainforest recordings were) -Latesha K 💞

Travelled with my son from March 12-19 via Transat Holidays. First impression was not great, we arrived approximately 2 hours before 'official' check in time and were told we could not check in unless we paid $25USD per person. I have never experienced this in any all inclusive hotel anywhere south. I agreed to pay, what were we supposed to do, go into town with our luggage after travelling since 3am that day? So then I pay, and he says 'sorry your room won't be ready until 3pm, come back. So essentially I just paid $50 for them to keep my luggage and get our bracelet so we could eat something? Not impressed at all. Beyond that, things were quite good. Some quick points: The food was really tasty and flavourful, enough variety with the fish and meats at dinner to not get bored. Lots of fruits and veggies. The beach snack bar didn't have much variety, but worked well for my teen at lunch. The staff overall were very friendly and lovely. This is a much smaller all inclusive than I have ever been to, so not having any a la cartes or nightly entertainment was different for me, but for a clean and comfortable stay it was wonderful. Very grateful for the pool table! The view from our room on the 5th floor was stunning. The beds are very hard for my taste, but the pillows are great. Water pressure was pretty weak in the shower, but we always had hot water. There are no chairs right at the beach unless someone has pulled one down and left, you can drag your own down from the hotel grass area. The beach chairs are also plastic and quite uncomfortable. It would be nice to have some better chairs and not have to get them to the beach yourself. There is also no shade at the beach, just be warned. We had a lot of fun in the waves, body surfing and surfing are great there with a couple rental places right beside the hotel. There are a lot of rocks at the shoreline, so bring water shoes if you have sensitive feet. Once you are out in the water it is sandy. It is a short walk to downtown if you want to do some shopping or try some local restaurants. I would definitely return to this hotel.

As a frequent traveller and also being in hospitality I think this place was awesome overall in terms of experience, considering the times we are in. The team here are on point with making sure you are felt welcomed. Front desk always smiling and always helpful in recommendations, cleaning team top notch and asking if you would like fresh towels, room cleaned whenever they see you and F&B doing there upmost to make sure guests are happy. Small downside which is nothing to do with team on site is that the F&B offering could be a little better but sure this is work in progress. Overall great and I’ll be back before I venture back to London! Thanks team 🏄‍♂️

The best family hotel we have been to with our twins. From day one we were entertained by more than 20 iguanas in multiple fantastic colours and patterns enjoying papaya for lunch, just right next to the pools. The staff was always great , ranging from serving great breakfast every day to fixing my PC cable. The owner even drove me to the doctor when needed. The family focus of the hotel combined with the quiet location in Jaco and right distance to the beach, made it the perfect holiday spot for all four for four weeks. The twins even learn to swim independently. We then used it at a base and visited national parks with a professional driver, because trafic is the only really dangerours thing in Costa Rica. When we go back to Costa Rica, we’re staying at Mar del Luz.

Jaco Lodge is a little oasis in Jaco Beach. The tropical, green setting is very peaceful, and the staff was very helpful and supportive: Martin and Leonard are great. The breakfast is perfect and light, and the property is very clean and well maintained. The center of Jaco town has a lot of activity, but Jaco Lodge is conveniently situated about a ten minute walk away from the main attractions. I hope to return in the near future, and highly recommend staying here. Thank you for everything.

In 2019 I traveled the coast of Costa Rica for 30 days searching for the best city to spend another 30 days in 2020. I rolled the dice, and after much research I chose the "Balcon Del Mar" for my long stay. I hit the "Jack Pot"! It is right on the beach, and downtown is a 5 minute walk away to restaurants, shops and activities. But what really stands out the most was the staff, very friendly and professional. The hotel, the onsite restaurant and the pool were meticulously clean, which demonstrates that the staff takes great pride in serving you, great feeling! I'm leaving in 5 days....but trust me, before leave I will be booking another 30 days for 2021, that's how much I enjoyed my stay from mid January to mid February, Check it out! Purta Vida...... Breakfast was perfect. Bar , sunset and restaurant was great many local Tico's ate and had drinks there as well as it is a wonderful place for the sunset. Location, Location was just what you want in Jaco away from thew main strip but perfectly close enough top walk there anytime. Restaurants were plentiful and awesome excursions are adventurous and surfing is some of the best in CR . The beaches around Jaco are also great to visit. Thanks Tangeri,

I needed a last minute hotel and found this one on Orbitz. The strange part was though the reservation was made with Orbitz, I had to pay the hotel in cash. Beware of that. The room had a big bed, I think a king, but the room was barely bigger than that. The entrance was through the sliding glass door, kind of looking at the beach. There was a large bathroom and shower without a shower door or curtain. The pool was very odd, it was essentially for the abandoned looking property next door with the access was through a breached brick/rock wall. That being said the pool wasn't bad. The room was clean, bed comfortable and it felt safe enough. There was someone watching the front gate and at some point in the night the gate was closed. If you had a vehicle it could go behind the wall. For someplace to stay the night this property fit the bill, I was out with friends until late at night. But you wouldn't want to spend much time in the room.

We've recently spend 6 nights relaxing in the lovely Los Ranchos Hotel. The administrator Erick Sanchez and the staff were lovely and helpful, speaking good English. The hotel has a nice pool and is a series of 2 storey building surrounding this. Each is split into an upper and lower room. We were in the first building to the left, upstairs in a room for 4 people, 2 singles and a double. The large room had plenty of space for us all to sleep and good a/c. As with most of CR Hotels appear a little dated. A few easy improvements would add a lot, a little more furniture in the room for clothing, perhaps a set of shelves by the bathroom and an extra bedside table - simple steps. Also get the cobwebs out the bathroom - empty of creatures but leaves the feeling of needing a proper clean. Location was also very good. 50m from the beach and 25m to the main road through town lined with endless eating options. The hotel offers no restaurant or eating options but there are many close by. A lovely hotel we would certainly visit again. A couple of easy steps to earn a 5* rating could be added simply.

This place is a cosy one, with a parking spot secured by a gate with code acces provided at check in. Located in Jack in a residential area it gives the place the quietness of the neighbourhoud rather than the noisy streets near the beach. That is a big plus especially you can enjoy hummingbirds in the garden. You can walk to the beach, around max 10 min walking. Towels are provided for pool and different ones for the beach. Swimming pool has a little jacuzzi and you can enjoy swimming whenever you want. The hotel provides books, tours, bikes and you only need to ask for. The breakfast is a tiplical one: gallo pinto with eggs, fruits, milk, toast, butter and jam, coffee and juice. Breakfast is served in the open air restaurant. Not far away you will find ( in your way to the beach on the left) a place who sells fresh fruits and incredible smoothies ( 1000 colons a big glass of fresh smoothie water based). Also on the way to the beach, on the street that ends in the main street you will find many places which sell food, topical or international. One that I highly recommend is located at the end of the street on the right and has a salad bar included when you buy a meal. Salad bar meaning side dishes as well. Rooms of the Vila Creole are spaciois enough, some of them, located on the right as you go from the parking spot to the rooms, with kitchenette. You also have a little patio with a fan so everything is just perfect. You have a mini fridge, coffee maker and toiletries in the bathroom. I defitnetelly recommend this place.

This was our fourth time at the Flamboyant. The perfect beach hotel just a short walk from the action and all ammenities. Wonderful staff , two pools , bbq rancho .Beachfront with stunning sunsets. The recent addition of Koko Gastro bar is fantastic, you are able to dine right on the beach or at the lovely shaded tables just inside the fence. The menu is super and reasonably priced. Their beach burger is homemade and delicious. You are able to include breakfast in your room rate ,for shorter stays. They have several room options, many with kitchenettes if you like to cook for yourself. Our go to hotel in Jaco .

I’ve stayed at Beach Break Resort from February 20th till March 2nd 2020, this was my second experience there, first experience was at the same period last year. I liked it at my first experience, I liked it even more this year! Beach Break is a human size hotel, which is why I like it so much! You don’t step on each others, rarely a line up somewhere and you get to know most of the staff. For sure it’s not as luxurious as many other, but the place is cozy, clean and well maintained. Also, what I like about it is that it’s in a quiet area of Jaco, but still, less than a 5min walk of the town, which make it easy to visit the nice restaurants and bars of Jaco, without have to take a cab or a bus. Also, the staff is amazing, smiley, dedicated and professional, even when it get harder for them when it’s getting busy (especially on w-e), for sure they would appreciate to get some help and be better staffed for those period, but I have to say once again, that even when they felt overwhelmed and exhausted (I could feel it I work with public in tourism), they still act extremely professional! Kitchen side, food taste great, good quality ingredients and fresh, for sure, when you stay for a long period, it become redundant, but, not such a big issue for me. I want to make some shoot outs here to some individuals. First of all, Emilio : This guy is a gem for this resort! I spent 11 days at his bar and observed him working, with client he’s amazing, but also, as a bar tender : he date every bottles of juice/mix he use, keep his bar clean A.F., washing everything each time he use the counter, cutting board, knives, Mixer, etc. Putting every bottle, tools fruits back into place after each use. Never seen someone having such an amazing work ethic south of Florida. Please, management team, do all you can to keep Emilio, he’s a great asset for your resort, and an example for the rest of the staff!! I want to recognize also on bar side, Mahdi, which is a great worker also, a bit serious at first, but when she get to make jokes with you and start smiling, she make you feel special! Dinning side now, I want to shoot out some staff also, first Jody, this guy is simply incredible! Always smiling, joking around, fast, efficient and professional, he takes care of you in an amazing way, he have the perfect personality for that job! Also, as efficient and professional, but with a little bit more discreet personality, I have to thank Franconia and Joseph. The rest of the staff was also great, but these individuals are mainly the staff that made my vacations amazing and engraved in my memory for ever, they made the difference in my life, I told them personally before leaving, but black on white it’s even better: THEY MADE THE DIFFERENCE! I also want to thank Roxana for her help. I love the Beach Break, this place has HUGE potential to be ever better with some will and investments, I will definetly go back!!

We booked our stay bc of the location on the south end of the beach, which is our preference as the beach sand is smooth, less rocky than the North end. This was our first trip to CR at the end of December and had we known that the rest of the country was also vacationing in Jaco, we would have likely selected another date to arrive. The management spoke English so that was a plus as well. The included breakfast was excellent and consisted of fresh eggs, made to order, hand cut potatoes, sausage, my favorite plantains and Costa Rican typical rice and black beans, toast and pancakes for the kids and made fresh daily local juices and coffee. Another reason we chose this hotel was that the room had a small fridge so we could store groceries. A huge plus is that this was a dog friendly hotel! Here’s some things for travelers to consider and the primary reason for the hotel rating: When we arrived, it would have been nice to have the room cooled down before our arrival, but the AC worked great after it was cooled. All the guests rooms over look the very busy pool area and bar. So there is no quiet/privacy, from the guest balcony or pool area. The room was loud from the bar music and kids and could have used more storage. There are only a couple of rooms with a full view of the ocean, they are suites. The bar area is close to the beach and is very busy. The hotel could have done more bar/food business if they had kept relevant tv/music and more than one bar tender working. He was constantly placing food orders and having to run from the bar to the kitchen leaving the bar customers longing for another cool beverage.

We planned a trip to Costa Rica with our friends to escape the winter blues. Four of us stayed in the Penthouse Suite. It was very spacious and clean. The view of the property and ocean from our verandah were breathtaking. It was so relaxing sitting on the verandah at sunset with the warm breeze and the sound of the water and birds. The penthouse has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fully furnished kitchen (including a blender, coffee maker, and microwave). There's a washer/dryer in the unit. If you don't feel like going out to eat but don't want to cook, you can simply order room service. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. They arranged a wonderful morning tour for us where we saw amazing birds. We loved the hotel so much, we booked our next stay before we departed. It was truly a relaxing escape from reality. It's only 1.5-2 hour drive from SJO.

This property is definitely not worth the money. We had booked the sky penthouse suite. This building is about a 15 minute walk to the beach. The suite was quite large and very contemporary which is definitely a plus but apart from that it lacked in hospitality and we had to call housekeeping for basic amenities. When we checked in there was only one pack of coffee with two packs of sugar. They did not replenish the next day either until we called them. The check in lobby is pretty small. Breakfast was very basic and it was included only for 2 people and we had to buy for two more people even though we had booked a 3 bedroom penthouse suite. There were roaches in the room and geckos. I had booked a spa massage and it turned out that the lady who owned the spa came in for appointments only and though it says green tea etc. included, there was no green tea or anything of that sort. Spa is a small room on one side of the building. I would have expected much better service at the hotel. Will definitely not recommend.

We were a group of 9 friends visiting Jaco Costa Rica for the first time. We were not sure of this hotel when booking but we were surprised and happy that we stayed at this hotel. It’s basically for surfers as its next to the beach. Hotel rooms were good, good breakfast, staff were very helpful and their food was excellent. Front desk staff were very helpful during checkin and hardly took any time to get us settled. Rooms were good with AC. We had one issue with a room AC not working & staff relocated to another room within no time. Very family friendly place to stay. Some were complaining about bugs... well its Costa Rica so you have to get used to it. We never had any issues. If you want to experience your stay near to nature and not confined to branded hotel rooms then this is the place to stay. Fridays & Saturdays tend to get busier so book in advance as everyone wants to head to Jaco for fun weekend 😀.

Run down huts with need major update. Far too expensive but a nice little pool to hang out with kids who are able to swim. The WiFi in all buildings even works during the frequent power cuts, the water cut did not affect the WiFi either 😉 50m from beach, 50m from the loud main street where you find extreme cheap stuff as cheap as the whole area... Friendly personnel but avoid until they have done major updates.

This is a small quiet relaxing hotel away from the hustle and bustle of Jaco. It has a lovely pool area where small lizards watch you from the adjacent rocks and there are shady trees to escape the sun. A highlight was a group of scarlet macaws spending a few minutes in the trees by the pool on dusk one night. The bed was comfy and the staff were accommodating in arranging breakfast for us the night before when we had to get up early for bird watching trips. The one day we did have breakfast in the dining area it was very good. The only negatives were that the room was very dark -maybe the upstaris ones are lighter? and the shower is a poor design that tends to flood the bathroom. Also the grounds are very small so you need to drive elsewhere if you want a walk, but they are very secure..
