The hotel is a three-star basic hotel so don't expect luxury or modern facilities but it is in the historic central part of the city, with very friendly and helpful staff, modern bathrooms, wholesome breakfast, excellent sleep thanks to good beds and quiet location.

As others have commented, these apartments (it's not a hotel, so don't expect hotel service!) are really well located, just perfect for wandering around and for access to supermarkets, shops, restaurants, historic centre, etc. They are and well-equipped, with everything you need for a few days' stay. One other reviewer is simply wrong - there is a lift, so you don't have to carry suitcases up stairs. And the staff are just fine. It's a bit hard to find, by the way, as it occupies a couple of floors of a building with other occupants, so the signage is minimal. And it's good if you have a car, as there's free parking within couple of hundred metres. So, overall, for what you pay, it's excellent value. And Piombino is a great place to visit - many interesting historical features, and make sure you visit the small archaeological museum.

This was an experience beyond expectations taken into consideration that we checked in to a 3 star hotel. Well, the hotel is old and without elevator, but it appeared well kept and the room was clean and recently renovated. The hotel is run as a family business of the most friendly and services minded family one can imagine. They fixed everything from carrying luggage to finding parking lots to advice where to find good restaurants in the town. All this more or less without speaking English and we not knowing a word Italian. Splendid holiday experience - I would love to return some day!

Well kept premises, very clean, sun beds quite new and clean. Staff mostly friendly - take away the one snotty young boy-employee who has the attitude ”you-should-be-exhilarated-that-I’m talking to you” and is too lazy to get up and open your sun-lounger and parasol. The pool is 25 meters and they have a lane for lap swimming. Bathing cap mandatory. You can buy one for 3 Euro. The sun loungers and parasol are of cheap quality. You can’t put the sun lounger all the way down. With a little wind the parasol is unstable. One employee came and took it away - whilst me still laying there. There is a restaurant but I did not eat there. They were not very Covid 19 aware. Employee wore mask but the sun lounger were way to close. Sun longer and Parasol 18 Euros for a whole day.

We chose this place of several reasons. We are a family of 6, and wanted space, training facilities for a swimmer, and access to a nice restaurant. Two apartment adjoint gave us what we needed space vice. The balcony, although private, as we wished for, was a bit to warm from mid day until afternoon. There should have been an umbrella. The balcony was dirty at arrival. We ask for cleaning, and they came only with a broom an swept it. We still had to wear shoes there. Except of the balcony, the place was clean. Do note that it is not cleaned within a 2 weeks stay, only change of linen and towels once a week. You need a car to stay here, but the beach can be reached by foot (15 min walking) The Baratti beach is nice. The restaurants in the area does not live up to what they promise. You must drive to Piombino (20minutes) to find Nice restaurants. The pool area is clean and safe! Even in high season there are always beds available. The restaurant has nice food, but has limitation in opening-hours and at the time we stayed bad capacity problems. A family of 6 is obviously a big group for them so We had to book the day before or early the same day. Often we got a table late in the evening. In high season and with only one restaurant available in walking distance, this should not close from 15-19. Although the restaurant was never fully seated, the staffing or maybe the kitchen capacity gave us difficulties with getting a table at a time we wanted. Even the rigidness that you have to decide in the morning when you want to have dinner, is not very flexible or relaxing. Some of the staff had limited English, and this caused them to get orders wrong. When serving 6 people at the same table, it should be obvious that this group wants to eat together. That never happened. We ate at the restaurant 5-6 nights of 14, and every-time one or more of us had the food much later than the others. Normal curtesy is also to come back to the table after the customer have tasted the food, to hear if anything is missing and that everything is fine. That never happened at this restaurant. I can’t tell if the place is short staffed or just poorly managed. Most nights we ended up getting takeout. They deliver pizza within 5-10 minutes. The pizzas are big and tasty. This is a place We would not have return to 5-6 times, if there was any other options. Even though the food is nice, the service is not impressive. The solution with a big roof over the terrace also made it noisy and unwelcoming, like a big eating hall. Game boards right outside the restaurant also made it a noisy experience when seated on that side the football tables where placed, Look to Geovillage, Olbia (Sardinia). Their solutions for restaurants are great. On trip advisor and Google maps it also looks like the place has to restaurants. This is not the case. There is an indoor restaurant in wintertime and the La terazza is the only option in summer time! It might be different for full board customers. We h

We stayed in a self catering apartment, it was clean and spacious. Rather disappointed it didn’t have a dishwasher, it is a must nowadays. I think they want to encourage you to eat in their restaurant. We tried it one evening I thought the menu was fairly limited and quite pricey. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The pool was superb, clean, lots of sun beds and not too busy, ideal for children. The overall experience was positive and we would go again

Great place with excellent service. Ana made our days with “perfecto” breakfast and top service, it was was in range of 5* hotels and Tiziana was a perfect host to all of us. Everything was at top level; cant wait to be back again.

We loved our stay at the Calidario resort. Our room was 111 and really lovely (nice little balcony, too!). Everything was beautiful. We spent the whole day swimming and relaxing, and then had a great dinner at the restaurant. We didn’t hear anyone else speaking English – looks like all of the other people were from Italy and Eastern Europe. It was great to find this local gem! Special thanks to Stefania and Benedetta at front desk, Valeria at the sauna and Rochy at the restaurant!
