1.76km from Pizzo Di CalabriaThe photos of the hotel looked very nice so our expectations of the hotel were quite high. The staff was friendly, the lobby was pretty and the free parking was really convenient. However, there were a lot more negative aspects. I have never written a review on a hotel before and I do not consider myself a particularly difficult person but I feel it is my duty to prevent people from thinking this is a four star-hotel and to overpay significantly. -First, we have been told by the staff that there was a metro station at 5 minutes walk when we called beforehand (one of the main reasons we booked this hotel). However, upon arrival they told us that it was much further and that we had to take a bus. As this was already quite annoying since we only planned on visiting Rome one day, we realized soon that the closest metro station was around 20 minutes away by car. - Since the A-C did not work in the first room, we asked to move to a different room. However, in the second room the A-C was the equivalent of someone blowing air in the corner of the room. As it can be very warm in Italy, it is not too convenient to sleep in a warm room. - The WiFi did not work in both rooms. The second room was actually in a different building which means that the probability of the WiFi working anywhere is relatively low (Only in the lobby it worked properly). -The only welcoming present in the room was a spider in the shower. The shower was not only covered in mold but was spraying water in more directions than the Trevi Fountain. - The breakfast looked delicious on the photos but was in reality very mediocre. The coffee even came from a Nescafé machine, which is punishable by death in Italy. -As a compensation for the non-working WiFi, the A-C and the misinformation about the metro, the front desk staff offered (very clearly against the will of the manager standing next to the receptionist)... a bottle of water. The objective of this review is not to insult the hotel nor the staff. I am a firm believer that TripAdvisor has an important function in decreasing the information asymmetry of Hotels. Therefore people need to know that the Appiah Park Hotel is absolutely not a four star-hotel in any regard and thus significantly too expensive. There are way nicer and more affordable hotels around and in Rome!
