|3.46km from city centerThe old 5 star hotel that stayed when I first came to CARTAGENA 10 years ago, was very impressed, especially for the courtyard layout, the swimming pool and the restaurant on the side. It arrived at around 10:00 am. It has been 28 hours flight and transfer from Beijing. It is really tired and I don’t want to wait until 3 pm (on the Intercontinental, I’ve received $50 for early check-in). The plan to stay; the front desk said that the room was ready to live, and agreed to advance the breakfast on the last day to the day, it is very rare, thank you! The front desk, restaurant and various services are very thoughtful, although the room looks old, still feel things Great value!

However, the atmosphere of the place and the kindness of the staff was so wonderful that we decided to stay for dinner. Only a few minutes in the placed and we were surprised by a phenomenal concert of Classic Guitar by Maestro Roberto Angulo. It truly was a delight. I also would like to express my gratitude to Mr. Orlando who took care of us and made the night the highlight of our trip to Cartagena. We were so glad that he took such a good care of us. His attention and service in my opinion 6 stars. The food and everything was wonderful. This place is a must see by anyone looking for a tropical and elegant night in Cartagena.

|1.77km from city centerI had stayed at the Allure Chocolat in the past and loved it. I loved the room, rooftop pool and pool bar, great staff and good breakfast. Location is excellent, close to the walled city. I booked this return trip to stay at the Chocolat only to arrive and after checking in the front desk man said by the way our pool is closed during your stay for a private group. Note their their rooftop pool and pool bar is a key reason for staying here for me. I then asked why they was not stated at the time of booking the room and he couldn't answer that but said don't worry, we will send you in a taxi or shuttle to another hotel to use their pool. Unacceptable. I was upset and asked to speak to the manager. His option was to transfer us to their other hotel Allure Canela which has a pool. He said it's close and easy walking distance to the walled city and it would cover my need to have the pool on site without the hassle of taking taxis or shuttles to get to the pool. So I agreed and regretted it. Allure Canela is a nice hotel, but smaller, noisy location and the pool is the size of a large bathtub and seeing all guests was going there from all 3 Allure hotels in town, it was quite busy with no deck chairs to use most of the time. So the point of this feedback is based on the poor management decision of the Allure Chocolat to block the pool for a private group and not warn guests booking rooms on those dates. I feel this was deceptive and ended up paying too much for a room in a hotel in not so great location. I did get free meals for 2 nights, but this didn't make up for the inconvenience and excitement of staying at the Chocolat.
I will highlight the front desk man Felix. He was very nice and tried to help at Chocolat when he had to tell me about the lack of pool facilities. Very nice man.

|13.04km from city centerThe complimentary shuttle to town is not allowed to be used by people checking out. I was not informed of this until trying to board the shuttle when I was blocked and made to pay for a hotel taxi which only goes to the airport. Keep this in mind when planning to leave the resort. The all-inclusive does not include snacks at many of the cafés and also does not include café drinks like cappuccinos. Those all cost extra. Much of the staff speaks little or no English so it was hard to understand what the staff were saying. Pools and beach close way too early, beach closes before sunset and pools close before dinner has even started. Don't expect to take any moonlight walks on the beach either, as they post security to keep everyone out. The beach has a VIP area, but it is very similar to the normal area. Both the beach and pool have beds for all guests. Restaurants do not serve appetizers or desserts, those are both buffet style from a buffet split across all three dinner restaurants. Additionally the native food restaurant is not open to eat inside, instead it uses the same venue as the breakfast buffet. I was informed that the tennis courts are closed, the gym is still open though. The beach bar and poolside bar are really just one bar which is located away from the beach and outside the pool area. TVs in the room do not accept USB or wireless input so remember to bring your HDMI cords. Slow service at the breakfast buffet and dinner, though the food was good. The rooms were very nice and spacious, I had the Junior Suite. AC worked perfectly. Laundry service is extremely costly, over 80 USD for one load of laundry. The spa has many services and is priced pretty similarly to other spas in Cartagena. Option to book a room with a private hot tub is only available on their website, from what I can find. (The company website, not the specific hotel's website) I would only recommend this resort at the 55% discount I got when booking it.

They have a restaurant that stays open 24 hours a day the food is pretty good. The room was clean and the staff were nice. The breakfast is okay but it's free. The Wi-Fi was also great and it was also free. They have a free shuttle that takes you to The Old City which was very helpful

|2.02km from city centerThe good: excellent location in the Plaza de las Coches and an easy walk to everything you could possibly want to see or do in Cartagena. I was there for 5 days and did not take an Uber or taxi a single time - location is just minutes away from dozens of highly rated restaurants and shops, and an eight minute walk from the up and coming Getsemani neighborhood, which was one of my favorite spots for the local art scene. Something to consider: while the location is central to everything, the plaza immediately in front of the hotel is ”THE” spot for everything. It's a gathering place for party-goers and a natural outflow for people exiting the local clubs and restaurants who still want to socialize. This means that it can be VERY loud at night and well into the early morning. These parties last until almost 5:00 AM. The front desk staff does have earplugs available for those who are bothered by the noise. I wasn't - my room had a balcony that looked over the square and it was fantastic people-watching - this was even better than being on a balcony on Bourbon Street. But the noise level may not be for everyone - if you are traveling with older folks or small children you may want to look for something a little bit further from the center of all the action in Cartagena. The best: the staff at NH were SUPERB and went all out to cater to the needs of their guests - I got to know the staff well, and the manager is a young lady named Geraldine who is very engaged and attentive - she wrote down several restaurant and museum recommendations for me when I asked her about things to do - trust me, the staff will treat you like family here.

First, the pool is far too small for the size of the hotel. The available chairs are often full and there is no shade. Second, the breakfast experience is miserable. Once again, the room is far too small for the size of the hotel. Everything is cramped. Some days it was hard to find a table. Some days we noticed staff were not replacing the paper placements between guests. Third, service leaves quite a bit to be desired. When we checked in, we confirmed with the clerk that we were being charged in Colombian pesos. However, when we checked our bank account, we realized we were charged in dollars -- which cost more due to their awful exchange rate and service fees. When we spoke to the front desk, we were first told they couldn't do anything about it. Then, we were told their credit card machines don't even allow them to charge in US dollars. Then, we were told that the clerk would speak to management and get back to us -- we never heard back. This is a terribly run IHG property and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

|1.62km from city centerPositives- Comfortable sized pool with towels included. Nice space to relax and enjoy the sunshine. It was often empty so we had it to ourselves. Small bathroom but the shower was powerful and hot. Location was okay and nearby to shops and restaurants. Negatives - The room was very small and very basic in comparison to other rooms on offer at the hotel which we saw. The floor was littered with ants. The WiFi didn’t connect for two days and when it finally did, it didn’t connect properly. From the moment we arrived the reception staff were disinterested in us and not very welcoming at all which was very disappointing as we stayed there over the Christmas period and arrived on Christmas Day. However, the ladies who ran breakfast and cleaned the rooms were brilliant. We selected the pre-payment option but despite contacting the hotel 3 times prior to our arrival they still did not charge us. When we checked out, the woman was incredibly unhelpful, rude and laughed at us. They wouldn’t charge the card we gave when we booked the hotel and so we had to use a different card on check out. The lady who checked us out was very rude and didn’t bother to even ask if we needed a taxi, how our stay was or say goodbye.

There is a small restaurant in the hotel as well..that's what is keeping me from giving 5 stars. The food is fine, but the service was not great. Waited for almost 20 minutes for someone to take our breakfast order. I think they are just understaffed. But overall, I would recommend the hotel. Close to the airport and the beach. Be warned - if you are not familiar with how things work in Cartagena - when you go to the beach, you will be approached by several locals offering all kinds of services - be prepared to pay quite a bit if you accept. If you don't want their services, be insistent or they will not leave you alone!

|0.52km from city centerThree things lowered the grade for this hotel: location, dining, and poor wifi. Be warned, this Holiday Inn on Manga is not near the main spots. Getsemani is about a 30-minute walk and Bocagrande is a car ride away. The hotel is located in a business district within sight of the port and the cruise ship terminal. While it is quiet and very safe, you'll be walking or taking taxis to go anywhere interesting. The hotel's restaurant only serves breakfast. You are on your own for lunch and dinner. There are a few restaurants about 10 to 20 minutes' walk away. They do have a small store where you can buy snacks and drinks, but nothing substantial. I'm not sure if this is the result of Covid, but it can be a problem unless you eat while you are out. I found the wifi was hit and miss especially on the floors below reception. This hotel's reception is on the 10th floor and the rooms are on floors below. I understand the internet in Colombia is barely 10 mb/s, but it would seem more nests might be the solution to help boost the signal. The Good The staff are very friendly. They are very nice and welcoming. The general manager takes time to chat with guests and introduce himself which is a practice I have rarely seen in hotels. There is a small swimming pool on the 10th floor with views of the city and the flight path to the airport which is on the other side of La Popa. It would not take much for this hotel to be a great hotel. An express lunch or dinner on offer would make things better. It is clear that this hotel caters to a business demographic, but it will do in a pinch for tourists, especially if you won't want to stay in the party zones.

They buzz you in and out of the hotel which I liked for security reasons. The area around the hotel is very good and safe. Lots of shops, resturants, and even a grocery store. ( ATM's in grocery store, 2nd flr). Its centrally located and easy to walk to all the historical sites. The front desk attendant Cindy was a dream. She was always so helpful, polite and courteous. She booked a massage for me and they even picked me up from the hotel. Cindy also helped me with getting a covid test for my return to the US at the hotel. Area around the hotel was safe especially with me being a solo female traveler. Would definitely stay here again.

On our last day we checked out in the morning and stored our luggage for the day. I explained to the clerk at the front desk we were going to Playa Blanca for the day and asked if we could get some beach towels and she said no problem. She also suggested that when we return later that afternoon to get our luggage we could use the showers and change room beside the pool to change out of our beachwear. I thought this was great service considering that we were technically no longer guests. That kind of service will keep us returning to Hotel Dann.

The place is beautiful, the rooms are very comfortable, the breakfast very good, and above all the staff is very friendly and helpful. Patio de Getsemani is located inside the old city's wall, in the area of Getsemani which is very enjoyable (several cool bars and restaurants, beautiful streetart, nice streetlife...) and safe, close the historical center by walk (a safe walk). Extremely comfortable room, big, bright, with nice balcony, extremely comfortable beds and pillows, nice bathroom, really boutique style, because the hotel has only few rooms and guests are treated like very special persons. Breakfast served personally. The hotel staff is increadibly kind and helpful and friendly. Good wifi, perfect fan and air con. Special thanks to Mr John and Jeimy for kindest and professional service and Mrs Luisa for mouthwatering breakfast. Personal advise: if you need any kind of transfer use Uber which works very well in Cartagena. Do not use a taxi from the street. My experience with the taxi no FXT 827 was like this: discussed the price before a trip, but on the way a driver increased the price twice and did not let to go until I payed.
