A great stay at the hostel. Every morning a delicious breakfast with the help of the lovely people who work there. The rooms were cleaned (the bins were emptied) and water was put in the rooms. Quiet time was late enough so if you wanted to do something in the evening it was possible. Would come back for sure.

Lovely hotel. All staff from cleaners to reception to the bar staff on the beach were very kind and helpful. The gym and spa facilitates were better than what we have at home and the rooms were cleaned everyday and they made the beds as well daily! For the price this hotel is excellent value for money. For what we paid I wasn’t expecting the standard of service or product which we got.

We arrived here in the middle of the night and were greeted very friendly. We had a room on the top floor, out to the little inner patio. The room itself was furnished nicely, had enough space, a fridge and was very clean. We were happy to have the room out back, to avoid the street noise. Unfortunately it was still pretty noisy, as every noise made down in the patio (breakfast preparations, cleaning etc.) is heard very loudly on every floor above. The hotel itself, though it claimed soundproofing, also had paperthin walls. We could hear every word of the neighbouring room. Breakfast was sufficient, though honestly some things were a little weird: personnel kept standing in the kitchen door staring at you while you were eating. The music was very loud sometimes. You had to wear gloves for getting something from the buffet (even though it is common knowledge you won't get covid that way), but mask rules were not enforced. Also: why are there 4 types of cereal and no milk? The best part about the hotel was the location. It's just a short walk from the boardwalk, shops and restaurants, yet not in the middle of the noise and crowd. Perfect for exploring. Every staff member was very friendly and helpful, with getting us a taxi, storing our bags etc. While there were a few things I would change or improve, overall I would recommend a stay at Mr. Todd.

Hotel location is good, close to the coast 2 minutes walk from the bus station, many restaurants nearby Large supermarkets need 2 cars. Not far from the pier It is convenient to go out to sea or take a sightseeing car. Very authentic English breakfast. I like to see personal taste. Hotel and room facilities are average Domestic 3 star but clean. The front desk is very welcoming. In Sliema can be considered a very cost-effective hotel.

Newly renovated and new configuration, cooking utensils are readily available. Across the road is a bus station and a boat dock. You can go to other islands, which is very convenient. Turn left 300 meters and then left, there is a big supermarket.

The hotel is on the seafront at the edge of Sliema and St Julian's. The room was basic but very clean. Bathroom could do with an upgrade but again was spotless. We had a seaview room with a little balcony. The road is busy so if noise bothers you (it doesn't bother us) then ask not to be at the front. Hotel staff were very helpful. Tea and coffee is provided but even boiling the water doesn't make Maltese water taste any better. We didn't use the pool or have breakfast in the hotel. There are a few nice bars, restaurants and gelateria close to the hotel, including a little coffee shop next door that does coffee and croissants. It's a 15-20 minute walk to the bars of St Julians and around 25-30 mins walk to the ferries in Sliema. Promenade around the front is lovely. There is a really good bus service with buses going to Valetta, ferries in Sliema etc. Bus stop is outside the hotel. There's no parking at the hotel - you need to hunt the side streets. Driving is hectic in Malta and public transport is so good that I wouldn't recommend hiring a car. We certainly wouldn't do so again. I would recommend the hotel for a good budget option, with good service and location.

We stopped at the Plaza for 14 days, arriving back last week. We went very apprehensively after reading the poor reviews, although we knew that Malta was having a lot of renovating work being done, but from the start were pleasantly surprised by all of it. We arrived at 3am in the morning, no problems with the night watchman, very pleasant, booked a superior room 433, extremely pleased with. (So much for the negative comment from the woman that stopped there the week before, obviously expected a 5 star hotel !!) Large room, with kettle and decent sized fridge, tiny freezer, but I could get the ice packs and a small ice cream in it. Shower, unfortunately no shower cap but I did take one. Super view over the coastline... please remember that if you have a room with a seaview in Malta, or most seaside hotels, there is a road that runs between them. A lot quieter than Central Sliema, where the road is dual carriageway and noisy at night. Double glazed doors that closed and shut out noise for sleeping. The room was also SPOTLESS, and the chambermaid came in daily, lovely, lovely lady. Breakfast ran until 10am, everyone seem to go in late making it a busier time, fortunately we wanted to make the most of the days and got in early. You could have a full cooked meal, ( it varied as to how the eggs were cooked, sometimes fried, sometimes scrambled.) 6 different cereals, Different breads, toasts, salad, yogurt, fresh and tinned fruit. Tea (including mint, & green) & coffee machines, fruit juice. Carmen was a little gem, along with Miriam and a tall slim Indian lad, I did not get his name. Nice to have a drink on the terrace in the afternoon with Carmen again, very pleasant to talk to. Although the swimming pool was not operative the first few days as they were renovating it, it now is and looking fresh and clean. The indoor pool was also working. Costa Coffee is on the ground floor, who also do a snack if you want it. Lots of ice cream shops, supermarkets, restaurants and pubs within easy walking distance. The Tallnja Explore Card (Bus Pass) which cost 21 euros for any amount of trips for a week, was well worth the money, to jump on and off the buses, which run frequently in front of the hotel. Its a easy walk to St Julians, and also to Sliema ferries, if you cut through estate by Boots the Chemist. The only down side were the scooters going along the paths, unfortunately I don't think they are being policed correctly !!

This could possibly be the WORST hotel I’ve ever visited. I can’t see how any of the positive reviews are real and my feeling is they are sadly fake. Where to start? Check-in - we checked in late, as we had a late flight into to Malta, and when someone did eventually turn up to the front desk they weren’t exactly the most organised or helpful. It’s worth noting that you have to write down your credit card info for them in order to check in - we’ll look into this again….. The room… The pictures will speak for themselves but wow. We had reserved a double bedroom with a baby crib and sea views and what did we get??? We got a hostel. An L shape room with 4, yes 4 single beds and a crib with no linen. We booked the hotel based on the pictures. Most do right? Not one picture was accurate. No carpet (a listed feature and one we did take into consideration as we have a 15 month old)- just a badly maintained tiled floor which I’m guessing the original. A full size fridge- rusting and smelt pretty bad. A tv barley hanging on the wall with a couple of, fuzzy at best, channels. What appeared to be urine stains up the wall…. A beautiful coat rack…… And the bathroom- Broken, black mildew and just generally disgusting. Back to the front desk to change rooms. Of course we were told there are no different rooms available. After much discussion about the room and how they were unable to do anything until the manager was on shift the next day and a visit to our room to see what the problems could possibly be, we changed room…. The end of it? Nope! The second room. Still 4 beds but we had carpet this time, although it was dirty and peppered with crumbs- so close. The beds had a very thin sheet, a smelly throw and the pillows stank. And I mean stank- in fact the whole room did. The bathroom was like the previous one but this time we had a dirty glass with toothpaste in it. And finally, for this room, the curtains were full of holes so let the light in. The next day and time to speak with the manager. After being told all of our concerns would be passed onto the next shift, you would be surprised to learn this was not the case and they knew nothing of our trouble. Anyhow, after going over the whole saga again, we were shown an alternative room or given the choice to change hotel. The alternative room was a little better and more like the photos but unfortunately still quite bad- we changed to their sister hotel the Bayview (this has worse reviews on Tripadvisor but is honestly a far superior hotel and one with was recently renovated). There is more I could say such as the one lift not working properly, the control panel being held on with zipties, or the carpet in every corridor is ripped and a hazard or the breakfast was cold. However if you’ve read this far surely you can’t still be considering staying here? Don’t do it. Malta is lovely and the second hotel was better but I would not stay in this hotel or recommend anyone does
