Stayed here this weekend and from the point of booking to my stay everything was fantastic. We were a little unsure as we booked before the change in regulations because of covid and destiny Scotland kept us up-to speed with everything and reassured us we would receive a date change if our trip had to be cancelled. “ cant really say fairer than that in the current climate” The apartment its self was kitted out with everything you could possibly need including a fully sticked kitchen. Stunning decor and amazing huge floor to ceiling windows. We opted to pay to park on site for an additional £15 and this was a wise choice, i advise anyone booking to do the same. The location was about a ten minute walk from the royal mile and had everything on its doorstep. There is a fantastic little traditional pub directly across the road you should also give a whirl. We will be back to enjoy the city when the covid restrictions are lifted and i would 100% book here as my first choice if i came back. Thank you for a great stay. Apartment 4!

This is an absolutely fabulous hotel in a great location. Close to shops, bars and The Edinburgh Playhouse theatre. On arrival we were warmly greeted by Raul. Room was a stunning suite. It had its own bath and shower, toiletries and luxury towels. The restaurant had a lovely feel. Our waiter Aris couldn’t do enough. Great service. We opted for a haggis starter and beef stroganoff main. Both were delicious. Breakfast selection was good and was a great start to the day. The bar is modern and the drinks were reasonably priced. Very nice selection of beers and gin. The hotel does not have parking but it did provide us with a 20% discount at the Omni Q Park. A full day’s parking came to £22, but with the discount it was reduced to £17.60. The car park is only 5 minutes from the hotel. All in all we had a fabulous stay and we would definitely return. We wouldn’t hesitate in recommending to friend and family.

The location is more convenient, close to the city center, and there are supermarkets and restaurants opposite. The hotel is clean and dry, and the rooms are slightly smaller. There is a parking lot, and the charge is reasonable for a few pounds a day. Breakfast is a traditional English breakfast, sausage scrambled eggs bacon tomato sauce bean bread cakes and so on.

Upon arrival the front desk staff were professional and kind to us. The young lady showed us to our rooms we had 2 one for our adult sons and and one for my husband and I. The boys room was very spacious since they had 2 beds in their rooms and our room was a bit tight and warm. We were there June 1, 2019 and the boys rooms they could open a window but our room the door pops open but we could not get it to pop open. My husband uses a C Pap machine and finding an outlet near the bed was difficult since the lamps connections are designed for their lamps not any kind of European outlet. House keeping came and gave us an extension cord that ran over furniture to another outlet that we could use. They were very kind to do this for us. Our breakfast for the days we were there was wonderful. Staff was impeccable . remember we were the in June 2019

The building was formerly the National Bank of Scotland. The front desk is very welcoming. The boys helped me print the tickets for the next day. The girls helped us to store the luggage and the suite with the top floor. This time I booked a room of more than 1800/night. Although it was a duplex of two beds, it still felt a little smaller. The room has a kitchen but it has not been used. Edinburgh is a city with a lot of history. The ups and downs of the terrain and the architectural style of each era have indeed formed a unique beauty. The full moon night is bright and has a mysterious atmosphere. JK Rowling can write Harry Potter here and it is very understandable. Edinburgh's unique black and white tones are unforgettable.

About 7 minutes walk from the train station It looks very safe nearby. Opposite is a small park. There are supermarkets and department stores next to it. The room is full and can open two large suitcases with a small suitcase. The bed is comfortable, the sound is very good. The best part is that you can leave your luggage for free. We have been here for four days to participate in highland tourism. Asked a lot of other hotels in Edinburgh will not work It’s great to go to the highlands to live and live!

This hotel is perfectly located for the New Town, Leith and Calton Hill. I loved the fact that it is in Robert Stevenson's house and had something of a lantern theme in the interior decor. The front desk staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful and we soon walked through the all glass connecting bridge to the new extension to the hotel, looking forward to the view from our third floor window. Therefore it was quite a surprise to find that our room was actually in the lower basement under the original building, with a window looking out to the bottom of a dingy light well. it's all a consequence of Edinburgh's dramatic topography, though, so we smiled and accepted that it could have been worse - we could have been on the second or first floor. I was reminded of a disclaimer on our original booking form which said that the room might not have a window. I had phoned to check this as soon as I saw it and was reassured with the words "All our rooms have windows". Only just. Nevertheless, our room was comfortable and clean. The coffee and tea making facilities were made somewhat underwhelming by the ingredients being a random few handfuls of sachets in a polythene bag. Even putting them in a few paper cups would have been better presentation but everything was there. The hotel itself was a perfect base for our long weekend visiting our daughter in Leith. When we left, we had got quite attached to our basement hidey-hole.

Solid, traditional building on Newtown. Great location for enjoying the Fringe and just far enough from the centre to offer peace and quiet. It is still only minutes from venues on George street and a nice walk to main venues on the other side of town. The room we were in had a large, modern bathroom with a big shower as well as a bath. Bedroom a bit on the small side but clean and acceptable for a few nights. Not sure how it would have been when the weather was warm as there was no a/c. Breakfast was a bit of a let down as eggs seemed to lack any flavour at all when either poached or scrambled, mushrooms were so salty there were almost inedible. Staff all very good as was the service they provided.

Apartment 4. 3 Bedroom top floor apartment with great views. Pros Great location and surprisingly quiet. Cleanliness of good standard alongside amenities. Great sized rooms. Great view from open plan kitchen/diner lounge. Good Value for money. Reasonably well equipped. Easy check in process despite my non receipt of confirmation email which I still haven't got. Cons In desperate need of a paint especially on entrance level and in apartment on lower level where bedrooms are. Main ensuite bedroom blind is transparent which doesn't make for a long lie nor does it come fully down, I.e: it's too small. Numerous light bulbs were out. European plugs on lamps. No coffee machine as per other Destiny apartments. Sliding doors in main living area: You have to ensure right side door is fully up to stopper, I. E in centre as left side has no stopper and they could be closed but have a gap on left handside. I would recommend and use Destiny Scotland, they just need a little more attention to detail in this particular apartment.

Used to stay here regularly but not been back for 25 years. Was interesting to see how the hotel has changed in that time. Considering the Coronavirus situation we were pleasantly surprised. The welcome was excellent and helpful. The rooms clean tidy and roomy. Breakfast was a treat and the waiting staff excellent. In fact all of the staff we encountered were very helpful. The location is very good. A stiff climb uphill to the main shopping area but works the other way as quiet and clean nearby. The Scottish parliament is close by and so always a healthy number of police officers nearby which does give a safe feeling. The dinner menu was a little sp**** but considering the situation everyone finds itself in should be expected. Well done Macdonald Holyrood

Very friendly staff! The front staff who welcomed us on the day we checked in was extremely friendly and helpful, as was another staff who helped us in the evening to change to another room (the original room had a connecting door to the room next door where some people were having a rather lively party). At present, breakfast is brought to the room (see picture) and guests can select what they would like to have the day before. What we didn't enjoy too much while staying was that the hotel itself felt more like an office building and the room, although clean (apart from the cutlery in the kitchen), was not very cozy and quite cold. We would also like to suggest to allow guests to use the fire stairs as there is only one elevator. We had to wait quite a bit each time we needed to take the elevator (especially during covid times when only one household a time can use it). There's a rather big construction site next door so people who hope to sleep till late might want to ask for a room thats facing the other side.

I'd like to start by getting all the negativity out the way first because I'd like to finish on a positive note. The main issue with this place is the windows. They're extremely old and could do with updating as they barely block out any of the noise from outside and unless you've had a decent drink you're probs not going to get the most brilliant of nights sleep because Hanover st is really busy. The next thing is the staircase, we opted to stay in the room with the "spa bath" so our room was on the 3rd floor. Believe me when I say it was a task getting up those stairs 2 or 3 times a day and were both young and fit. The only other slightly annoying thing is the distance the car park they suggest you use is from the gaff. Its a canny walk through the park but it's a good 15/20 mins away. Apart from all this the place is gorgeous, I couldn't fault our room apart from the windows and the location is superb. Satellite TV came in handy as our stay straddled the time Scotlands pubs and restaurants shut so we had to have one night in. Dont be fooled by the bath however its definetely not much bigger than a normal bath incase you were thinking of sharing it :'-D all in all Id recommend it if you get the right price.

When we arrived the staff were polite and check in was good. The room (21) was a massive room and very nice. The staff were all polite. Unfortunately they had a big refurbishment being done, and we didn't know this before we arrived. They were right outside the window next to the bed, and started work (&swearing) about 8am in the morning. We had to keep the curtains closed on that window to stop them looking in. Also one member of staff came into the room one morning without knocking just seconds after my partner had got dressed, so it could have been much worse. He was very apologetic but it shouldn't have happened. We were also told each day that we could get evening meals, but each evening we were told no. We would complain again the next morning, and was assured we would be able to get a meal, only to be told no again by the evening staff. One big problem was the price of the drinks at the bar. The bar was opened to the public on Six Nations day, which was fine, but they increased the price of a pint from £3.95 to £4.50 and we had to pay that increase also, even tho we were staying there. I think that was unacceptable. Overall tho, many thanks to Adam and Maggie for all their help whilst we were there, but we will check reviews for improvements before we consider booking again.

Buffet breakfast is 10 pounds per person, ordering 15 pounds per person, the meal is relatively rich, the buffet is also very good, ham and cheese cream with bread, plus cereal milk and orange juice, as well as fresh fruit with local characteristics Yogurt. not bad. The room was quiet and the soundproofing was good. There is a sightseeing bus stop at the doorstep, which is a bit far from the most famous attractions but it is worth the price! The hotel is more expensive. No extra beds, no parking. The hotel lobby manager is super good, and the gentle lady is also quite a Nice! Welcome to the kind of harassment at any time. The location is very good, it is convenient for trains, airplanes, buses and nights without worrying about going back late or going out at any time. The only thing to pay attention to is to ask for several floors, usually the fourth floor is the first floor of the old town street. It is three floors that are close to the train station, and are ordered four floors or more. Recently, the bridge is under construction. I felt that the room was covered with things like blankets and gray. The decoration style is awesome, and it was changed from the previous Scottish newspaper industry. Like the bar downstairs, a cup of coffee is not too expensive every night, 6-7.5 fat. There is also the indifferent face in the front desk of the store. We are unhappy about changing sheets and checking out one hour late. One is insisting that if you stay for two nights, you will not change sheets. I knocked on the table and said that we want Stayed for three nights, the second is that the small blood stains that are not cleaned are not mine. The third is to change the sheets and the difference is important? The man who was stunned immediately closed his mouth. Check-out is generally 11 o'clock, most people are not mentally prepared at this time.

We stayed three nights on a great deal in a club room. Covid regulations were well explained and we didn't experience any issues at all. Bathroom supplies were still provided and the hotel is clean enough that the daily cleaning service wasn't missed. The room was cosy with a king bed, we experienced no issues whatsoever. The temperature was fine, plenty tea and coffee and enough storage for what you'd expect. Reception staff were extremely helpful and know the area and bus routes well, it was a massive relief for us to know which buses are best into Edinburgh. Breakfast was a bit slow as others have mentioned, but considering they've gone from self-service to full table service, the staff have done extremely well to keep things moving. I would suggest to book breakfast a little earlier than normal, we were never in a hurry and so it didn't bother us. The carpark was clearly signed to the rear of the hotel which was great as it was free and so the car was able to be left for the four days total and I returned to it safely untouched. I would stay here again and recommend fully to anyone wanting somewhere for breakfast and sleep with a little more of a luxurious feel than a basic B&B.

I have to praise this Youth Hostel, the location is very good, to save time on the road to the attractions, stayed for two nights feels good, clean and safe. Young passengers who come to live in the house are still quite regular. Although young people release their enthusiasm in the downstairs bar, they are more polite and disciplined in the room and public areas. The front desk of the hotel is very beautiful, the room is simple and generous, the bathroom facilities are good, the hot water is very good, the room has a wardrobe, and it can be put into a 24-inch suitcase. I haven't washed my clothes, I don't know if I have this service. The luggage storage room is free to use, and the charge storage room has a code lock to store important items.

The location is so great, it is on Prince Street, so we saved the time to visit Prince Street. And the opposite is the train station, for the friends who travel by train, they have to avoid the twists and turns of pulling a lot of luggage. The room is still small, the faucet design of the bathroom is unreasonable, and every time you wash your hands, it will splash out. Hotel service is not bad. But the service at the breakfast restaurant was a bit worse. In order to sit on the window and enjoy the view of the city, we chose to dine at the hotel, but the foreman of the restaurant was not enthusiastic, the breakfast was not rich, the waiters were few, the reception was slow, I didn’t feel it. it is good.

The Hilton brand is going downhill, and has lived in countless Hiltons from home and abroad. Every time you come to the United Kingdom, there is always a city that will arrange to stay in Hilton. Each time it ends in disappointment. 1, location, directly opposite the Scotsman Hotel, the spiral staircase next to the Scotsman Hotel can lead to the train station. If there is a large luggage, it is recommended to go out at Plantform Exit 1, there are lifts and escalators, and exit to the right Walk and turn right again for two hundred meters. A 10-minute walk from Royal mile, Edinburgh Castle, and Whisky Experience Center, these three are together! About 12 minutes walk from Calton Hill, which is different from the three attractions above 2. The housekeeping was just rubbish. On the first day of arrival, there was no mineral water in our two rooms, and the two rooms were not the same size. The one we lived in was very small. Shower gels and shampoos have obviously been used, but they have not been replaced! !! !! 3. The hotel design has serious problems. Please arrange a room for -3. We must first take the stairs to the second floor, then cross the other two third-level stairs, and then take the elevator down to -3. Rao's head is dizzy and the box Not easy to mention ~

A total of two rooms and four rooms were booked, and the overall performance in all aspects was very good. The layout of the rooms is reasonable, even the smallest classic room does not feel cramped. In particular, the bathroom has a separate dressing table and a large mirror, which is well received. The location is very good, Edinburgh's main attractions are within 15 minutes of walking (of course, Edinburgh attractions are already very concentrated). The public space is beautiful and elegant, and the service is warm and in place. The only minor problem was that when I checked out on the first trip, I was given a £103.5 bill, a £3.5 mini bar and a £100 reservation for the restaurant (we didn’t open the mini at all, nor booked it. Restaurant), after arguing for some reason, the front desk said that it might be wrong. Although the bill was cancelled, it was inevitable that it was unpleasant and destroyed the perfect experience of the whole stay.

The room layout is quite like, very local style; the location is very good, just next to the waverley station, it is very convenient to travel and take the airlink100 to the airport. If you have any questions, most of the comments are mentioned. It is quite pertinent: there is no elevator in the door, you need to carry the luggage upstairs to the reception, the baggage is very inconvenient; the room plug is unreasonable; there is a risk that someone in the room window can come in directly ( The window is an old-fashioned type of drop-down window, wood has a lock) and so on. Health is OK, the hotel staff who are in contact with it is also very good, the room has a warm film, the cold weather is not bad, the price can be actually.

Needs some work to improve the experience here. Some storage would help, and unsticking the windows would be very easy and would have made it more bearable. Very, very small room. Very challenging conditions for a 4 night stay.  We arrived on the hottest day of  the year to find the windows were all painted shut, and so it was impossible to get any ventilation into the room. The painting had obviously been completed recently, so not only could we not open the windows, the heat and the fresh paint had produced very strong paint fumes which set off my allergies, so I had puffy eyes each morning.  There was a standard type electric fan in the room, however this was unusable as it made a loud noise like a pneumatic drill so you certainly couldn't have it on for more than a few seconds at a time. To be fair, on the last night we noticed that some sort of cooling had been engaged in the hallway outside so we were able to get some relief by wedging the door open, obviously had to close it overnight though. There is no storage and there are no flat surfaces in the room, so anything you lay down ends up on the floor.  There is one "antler type", hanger on the wall for jackets, and that's all, so we just lived out of a suitcase for 4 nights.  There was no remote control for the TV, which wasn't working anyway and couldn't be used even manually. The shower room is tiny, camper van style, so your feet are in the shower when on the toilet, which is diagonal to the door leaving little room to dry yourself when stepping out of the shower. There is however, hot water for showering if you wait 5 minutes for it to run hot.  The hotel is very basic with no restaurant however only a short walk to McDonald's down the road for break fast.   We had what was described as the best room in the hotel. I imagine this is due to the view which is good. There was a good view out over Princes Street and the castle which was the one redeeming feature. We booked 4 nights here 9 months ago in anticipation of the tatoo which of course was cancelled. I would have felt better about it i think had we not been held to paying twice as much as the room is worth,  (obviously during the tatoo people accept more privations due to the numbers of people staying, but we weren't allowed any leeway ( such as a voucher for the extra cost to use on another occasion, or to change the booking to 2021. The reception staff were pleasant enough and I don't blame them, they didn't design the hotel after all. We have stayed in lots of budget hotels so our expectations are managed, however this place is a design nightmare. Not designed for customer experience so much as number of rooms they can cram into limited space with minimum square feet per unit.  If only we could have got some ventilation into the room we would have felt much better.

The food was very nice though we had to queue for 25 minutes. The staff were pleasant, friendly and did their best. I would recommend this hotel if you’re on a budget and want to see Edinburgh. Visited twice - once with a group of friends and once solo. The hostel has 2 buildings - one next to Belushi’s bar which is new and one where reception is which is older. There is a water fountain in reception which was appreciated. The staff were excellent at check-in, providing us with a list of activities at the hostel and information about breakfast. There is also a kitchen available for use - which I did not use. The room in the older side of the hostel was worn and small but ok - with triple bunk beds. The new room was great though - although bring earplugs if you want to get a good sleep (this is due to the music in Belushi’s and the trains leaving Waverley station). The beds are bunk beds with 2 levels in the new building. I stayed in a 10 bed dorm but it felt like two rooms due to the room being essentially split into 2. Also the bathroom was en-suite in the older room, whereas there was a shared bathroom in the new rooms. I would stay here again if in Edinburgh.

I thought that the return trip was also a pity that there was no room available. Suitable for self-driving, parking is free. Not enough from the city center, but there is a bus to the city center. It has little impact on us because this is our transitional stay to Fort William.

The landlord seems to be a Middle Eastern person. I just went to scare me. The perfume smell is too strong. The place is wet and clean in 356 nights. It is in the basement. I feel a little scary. The space is small and the sound insulation is not good. It is recommended that girls do not decide on their own. Even if it is more expensive, safety is first, and it is not comfortable to go out if you are out!

We arrived in the evening after 4pm and it was already dark and very cold. We had to stand outside ringing the bell and wait for 5 mins before anyone let us in. The gentleman who let us in (presumably the owner, Matthew) walks with a cane, and never introduced himself or gave an overview of the facilities or whom to contact for help or enquiries. He asked us to "wait there" outside the office door while he checked the booking. Then we were shocked to learn there was no elevator and our room was on the 2nd floor. We had 20 kg + suitcases with us, and when we told him our difficulty he seemed unconcerned. We then proceeded to drag our suitcases up a very steep flight of stairs one step at a time, and when we said it will be difficult bringing them down again, his response was to "sit on them"! It was a herculean effort dragging the suitcases up, and we neither heard nor saw a single soul in the hotel the 2 nights we stayed there. It seemed like we were the only guests in a haunted mansion! When we came down later to enquire about breakfast, there was no way to contact the owner (he was somewhere inside his quarters), and later quite by chance we spied an intercom button for "enquiries". We were not shown the lounge or how to go out into the back garden (which is highly advertised in the pictures here). no tags to leave outside the room door if you don't want them coming in and cleaning the room. I think the owners need to have a good hotel manager on the premises at all times to help the guests, as they do not seem to be able to do it themselves anymore. We never saw any sign of Patricia. The good points - 1) We had to go on a day tour early the next morning, and Matthew (assuming it was him) ensured our breakfast was neatly packed and ready for us to pick up the previous night 2) The following morning, we had breakfast down in the restaurant, and the 2 ladies there served up a scrumptious spread. 3) when we told them our problem with bringing down the heavy suitcases, Jenna (i think was her name) was very helpful and very strong, because she brought them down all by herself. 4) we did appreciate the cleanliness of the rooms and the unlimited supply of tea/coffee sachets in the room

No breakfast, I couldn't see the front desk after I went in. No one asked. When I left, I put the key in the basin. The room was small and the air was not good. It should be broken.

We really enjoyed our stay here even in the midst of COVID. All the staff we encountered were super friendly and helpful and we felt that everyone took the pandemic seriously without being over the top. We were very happy that our room was upgraded free of charge and can't thank the owners enough for this. We ended up staying in a beautiful suite which was ample in size, beautifully decorated and complete with his and her shower! The food was excellent - especially the venison! and we were happy with the amount of choice we had at breakfast. All in all a very memorable and comfortable stay :)

Was moved from the other company site in the West End which had several problems. I highly recommend the Wilde. Part if it is a lively conversion and the apartments on the courtyard ground floor are superb. Like staying in a brand new upscale apartment. State of the art minimalist decor, walk-in shower, absolutely spotless. Will definitely use it again. Downside is only the car parking. A reduced fee stay is available in the NCP Castle Terrace next door. But as a place to stay it would be very hard to beat. Maybe a little more expensive than the west end site, but absolutely worth it. This site is extremely well managed.
