|2.84km from city centerGOOD points- Welcomed and checked in by a friendly, informative and pleasant lady, who had a sunny disposition and was juggling numerous roles including serving in bar, cheking in/out (Reception) and cooking/serving to name a few, this lady was approachable, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. BAD points- where to start .. 1. Rooms where outdated (which would have been fine if clean), extremely poorly maintained and certainly not cleaned daily (if at all). Behind bathroom door was a collection of dirt, dust amd bit of rubbish, cleaner cleary has not closed this door or cleaned behind it for a while! Skirting boards where thick with dirt, sheets had holes amd walls had some kind of fluid ”sprayed” all over them (i dread to think what but can't discount it may be human material) im saddened to write this but feel its necessary to inform and alert others. A lick of paint, bottle of bleach and a hoover would have made such a difference at very little cost to hotel. 2. To access rooms you need to venture through an unused dining room (well not used to dine in) its used as a storage facility and is unsightly, after this you make your way along what i can only describe as the ”staff corridor” past the greasy kitchen (door was wide open) and other areas that i would imagine elsewhere would be out of public view to a steepish staircase which lead to the rooms. 3 Corridor leading to rooms was dark and dingy in day light but worse at night as none of the lights apart from the illuminated ”Fire Exit” sign so we relied on torches from our phones to navigate safely. I did not expect the Ritz for the prive we paid for a family of 3 but i do expect the basics to be right which is cleanliness, cleanliness and cleanliness!! Surely has no-one learned from Covid-19?!? Cleanliness should always be a priority even even more so during a pandemic.

|0.79km from city centerBooked this for 2 nights as it was in walking distance of a wedding we were attending. Bit concerned about previous reviews. Yes it’s a little run down from the outside. It appeared to be have been painted recently inside. Check in was easy. Was shown were the dining room was for breakfast. Room was clean and tidy. We opted for en-suite. Shower was ok once you got the setting right. Breakfast was good, full English cooked fresh while you helped yourself to tea/coffee juice etc. didn’t need anything to eat again until well into the afternoon. For the price we paid we thought it was well worth it. It’s not the Hilton or their price. Would we stay again, definitely if in the area .

|1.75km from city centerNice hotel with parking (extra at £5 per day)
Rooms were cold so had to put heater on all night which wasn't a problem. Staff very friendly. We stayed on floor 6 top floor room 602 and would definitely consider staying again.

|1.53km from city centerOur third stay in 12 months. We enjoy the location of this hotel, so handy for bars and restaurants; no taxis required! The breakfast is also amazing, loads of choice, food is hot and fresh, tables always clean and staff are well organised and friendly. The beds are really comfortable, and shower has always been good, and rooms/linen always clean. We like the ice bucket provided and machine in the hall, the complimentary water and having robes and slippers in the room. Two small points that weren't great were as follows. We've never yet had a working fridge in our room. Not sure whether this is a service no longer offered for some reason, if there's a way to switch it on/request it to be on or if we're just unlucky and always get one that doesn't work! Not a major problem, just would be nice to have, or take it away so we don't think it should be working. The other point is just the general decor, as in marked/damaged paintwork, tired fittings, and in this bathroom, damp affecting the grout and shower cubicle fittings plus a big crack in the sink. More wear and tear than cleanliness, and hopefully general freshen up/ refurb is on the cards soon. Still a great hotel in a great location, we'll be back!

|5.65km from city centerThis is the first stay at this Travelodge (Whitemare Pool). The hotel and rooms are clean, although the decor and carpets are a little tired and in need of refreshing. Also, as can be expected with an older Travelodge, the pipework, and other such services would benefit from being replaced/upgraded. The staff have a warm welcome and make a point of checking everything is OK during your stay. I was greeted by Leona a member of staff who was pleasant and directed me to my room. I was put in Room 31 on the 1st Floor, as I mentioned I was a light sleeper and did not like road noise. Unfortunately, there was a buzzing/humming in the room, which was discovered to be the Linen/Store/Wifi area pipes/cleaning equipment, which was directly below my room on the ground floor. The Night Man (Mark) and Security could not move me or find the noise cause/location and I never slept all night. Thankfully, Denise the Manager moved me the following morning to Room 13 on the ground floor. She apologised for the inconvenience and agreed to provide an e-voucher for my lost nights sleep. There is a Greggs, Burger King and Subway Outlet near the reception entrance, which is useful, if you need a meal/sandwich etc, and a garage is about 100 metres away. This may put some guests off, as people other than hotel guests use the facilities and can gather on the footpath and discard packaging without using the bins provided. This Travelodge would benefit from a refurbishment as the decor, fabric and services are dated/old, but the staff/cleaners keep it hygienically clean. Therefore, if you are looking for a clean reasonably priced hotel, this is worth considering for the budget traveller, as the staff value customers The Staff are trying very hard and it is such a pity that Travelodge Management are not supporting their efforts by updating/refurbishing this well located hotel. Thank you to the staff for their efforts during my staff - Well Done

|0.38km from city centerTravelled as a group of friends for one night stay. Limited free parking but managed to get the last space. Hotel had no lifts and there were a lot of steps to the reception and then rooms were on 2nd floor. Staff did allow us to use a service lift which was helpful. Generally the hotel isn’t great for accessibility if you have mobility issues. Overall the cleanliness of the hotel was excellent and staff very welcoming and friendly. En-suite bathrooms modern but other elements in the room were very dated. Mattresses not very comfortable and felt they needed a significant upgrade. For what we paid though and for 1 night it was good value for money. £15 in a taxi to Quayside in the city centre.

|1.94km from city centerThe second time at the Hotel, staff friendly, this time room wasn't ready on time. Also, fresh plastered walls in the bathroom. Coffee stains all up the bedroom. Cleaners weren't the quietest banging doors, and it wasn't early. This was noon when we had been out for.lovely walk around Newcastle.

|4.77km from city centerWe stayed for 6 nights and whilst not cheap was excellent value for money. The rooms are large with a massive bed and sofa. Clean ensuite with an excellent shower. Front of house staff were friendly but Steph and Megan were exceptional. As were Ferida and Jimmy in the restaurant for breakfast. The breakfast was plentiful with lots of hot and cold choice. My only observation is that as the hot food is cooked then kept warm at the self-service station, items such as the fried eggs and tomatoes can dry out. However you can request fresh omelette (excellent) or poached eggs (excellent) or fresh mushrooms (excellent) or black pudding (more than excellent!!). We only ate one of our six evening meals in the restaurant as after a four hour drive, it was easier. The food was fine but the service from Josh was fabulous ... a credit to the hotel. My only criticism was when I read my bill having got home, there was an automatic 12.5% service charge for the meal. If you like Indian food I can certainly recommend Jashn restaurant which is only four minutes drive and was one of the best Indian meals I have ever had (I could also recommend Michelangelo for high quality Italian and only 8 minutes from the hotel). We had a fabulous break seeing family and friends and will certainly be back next year and would stay at the Delta again

|1.9km from city centerWe spent the night here in the ”Apartment”, what a great room this is, 2 bedrooms, living area and kitchen, absolutely perfect little retreat for a group or family. Hotel is really nice and everybody who worked there was so friendly, special shout outs goes to the night porter and the breakfast staff, lovely. Breakfast was excellent, I would say that 1/2 a mushroom is a little bit tight and would of be nice to get a little more, but the quality of the breakfast was outstanding. I will definitely stay here again when I am in the area and recommend the hotel

|1.64km from city centerStayed here many times with work. Excellent location, super friendly staff and amazingly clean. Great value for money. Restaurant inside and bar which is a little expensive for what it is but there is a pub and carvery across the road (2mins walk).
Parking is free and there is always loads of it. The hotel itself is on a bit of a retail park which can get busy at times but I’ve never struggled to park and I’ve stayed here at least 40 nights since April.
I don’t write reviews to be fair. But credit where it is due.

|0.6km from city centerI use a wheelchair & my daughter is my carer. So had an accessible room on the ground floor. We also had our dog with us. I have to say that all the staff across the board from top to bottom are so amazing. They are kind, caring, helpful and make time to listen if you need them. The breakfast is always fresh, hot & tasty. The room is always spotlessly clean & the bed is so comfortable. I would recommend this particular hotel to anyone. You are made to feel welcome & respected by every member of staff. Will return in the future, no question about it. A huge thank you to each & every member of the team. You are all amazing. Thank you for make our stay so memorable & wonderful.
