A charming hotel with tradition and a personal character. Situated in the historic center of the university town, this hotel has been owned by the family Netke for 4 generations. It is next to Goettingen's pedestrian zone, 2 minutes from the station in a quiet area. The town-house from the 18th century, which served as a residence for visiting university professors once, offers tastefully renovated rooms. The breakfast-buffet in the historical breakfast-rooms with our very personal service combines tradition, class and modern living in a perfect way.

This hotel has a lot of style and is 7 minutes walk from the station. Our room was traditional and spacious (room 256) high ceilings and classical furnishing apart from the bathroom which was space age, The bed was very comfortable and touches like water supplied and fresh flowers thoughtful. Breakfast was just right and one sensed that the hotel avoided waste. In the mornings the staff open the doors to all the vacant rooms so they can be viewed, a sensible piece of marketing. We had some time before our train and sat and enjoyed a coffee on the veranda. This was one of the best hotels we stayed in during our time in Germany.

In my opinion, this hotel looks more elegantly designed on the website than in real life. I was disappointed when I arrived. It’s quite dark, and although the lounge off the bar and restaurant is cute, the rest of the hotel seemed underwhelming. The rooms are so minimalist there is no way to make coffee or tea and no desk to work at. It’s a “design hotel” so my thoughts on the design: The room itself looks nice and airy in the pics, but up close, I am found it lacking in personality. Big bare walls with no art or lighting. It blends mod wallpaper, mid-century modern molded plywood console, reclaimed wood bench, farmhouse style headboard and an upcylced refrigerator (freigeist namesake) for shelves... the elements don’t work together in a way that feels like a smart use of different textures and styles; they just seem disjointed. The room was kind of barren actually. I purchased a package online that led to unnecessary confusion. It had a late checkout, but housekeeping came to my room multiple times in the morning. It had two free drinks, but required a voucher which was in the room but not obvious, and then the bar had to get a new voucher. I had two cocktails and water, which counted for three drinks and raised more confusion - literally three people having a long conversation about how to handle this. Dinner was included in the package, but learned once I arrived that it was prix fixe and I couldn’t order off the menu. Etc. The lounge upstairs is basically bean bags in a cold empty room and one hammock you would put in an outdoor backyard. No music. Nothing on the walls. No plants. No ambiance. I think the patio is probably nice in summer, but during winter it’s totally not in use. I would not return. It just lacks basic stuff like being able to get water — you have to buy small bottles for 3€ from the bar. You can’t get a cup of coffee before official breakfast is open. Cocktail service took 15 mins and there was hardly anyone there. If you like minimalist and don’t mind services, ambiance or design being truly dialed in, it does have clean and quiet rooms and is walking distance from the train station.

60 € ... that's about 120 DM.. for a loud room with barely no privacy (door gaps big enough to put your fingers through it, you hear every noise that come out of the other rooms....). The picture frames hung crookedly on the wall, one of the seat pillows was really dirty (huge stains on it). One of the other guests or whoever left a wet and dirty bathroom. Sitting on the loo wasn't possible without getting totally wet feet. To me this location definitely looks like a purely commercialized room with barely no justification for the price. No reception. Sorry. But nope. It ain't a one star rating, because of the perfectly working internet and heater. I was supposed to fill out a form. No pen.

We stayed for four days and we enjoyed it very much: people have been very friendly, rooms are clean, internet connection is perfect, surrounding is quiet except there are sometimes noices from the opposit restaurant. But it doesn't matter because the Italien food there is excellent. It's so convenient to have a restaurant there. One doesn't need a car to drive to another place. So we just can warmly recomment this place to stay.

We stay here every time we pass through Goettingen. It is not a luxury hotel and the rooms are rather small. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean and the staff is friendly,. Buffet breakfast is included, as is wi-fi. The hotel is close to the autobahn to Kassel/Hannover, however the road it is located on is divided so when leaving the hotel one has to travel east to the traffic light and make a u-turn to get to the autobahn. Considering the price it is still a good choice for an overnight stay.

My husband and I stayed in Göttingen for work for a few months last year. The first month we rented one of the Hotel Beckmann's apartments and we stayed in a double room at the hotel for one night prior to moving into the apartment. We soon regretted this choice and were relieved when we could finally move out. The room: The room was poorly lit with old dark furniture - depressing, somehow. Right next to the hotel is the one road down to Göttingen city which is very busy during rush hour times. It was very noisy in the morning. Breakfast was strange. The waitress only asked if wanted boiled eggs and then disappeared, only to be back seconds later with their standard selection of bread, cheese and sausage. She wasn't pleased when we returned it immediately and asked for a vegetarian version. In addition to this "at the table service", which is really the same for each table, there's a buffet for cereals. It would be so much easier to just have a buffet for everything! This was the first of many oddities... The hotel is a family run business and it feels like not much has changed since three generations. They seem to do everything they way it's always been done and don't care about modern standards. There's also an old dog that seems to be living in the hotel lobby. From time to time it patrols the streets around the hotel. Nobody takes the dog for walks or talks to it or about it. It's just there. The apartment: We spent a month in the apartment that wasn't at all as advertised. First of all, it was tiny! How they measured 40sqm remains a mystery. It was more like 20. (yes, I measured, too.) There was a bed and some cheap old furniture that didn't match. And just enough space for one person to walk around the bed. The "desk" was a narrow board screwed to the wall, barely wide enough for a laptop. There was one low chair. We ended up taking our dinner sitting on the bed. The "fully equipped kitchen" was really just a sink and a small stove in the area right behind the front door which also served as an entrance hall. Needless to say, the equipment was limited to a bare minimum. We had to ask for a pot and a frying pan and they had difficulties finding one. Again, it was quite noisy, not so much because of the road this time but because of the loony neighbours. The walls are very thin and sometimes I could clearly understand each word when the neighbour next door was talking on the phone. Many of the inhabitants seem to be living there long term and many had annoying habits - be it crying and complaining all day or having a party every single night. The occasional bugs and ants in the apartment were a minor discomfort by comparison. I could go on, but you get the idea. Not only is it totally overpriced for what you get, but it's just an overall unpleasant place to stay. tldr: It's awful. Don't go.

This Hotel is located to the West of the A7 Autobahn on the South Side of Dransfelder Straße (B3.) It is therefore conveniently located close to the Motorway, but a long way from the Centre of Göttingen which is about 3 miles away, or best part of an hour’s walk. There is a regular Bus Service Service to the City Centre, or Taxis available. There is extensive Parking available, but at an additional Fee. It is difficult to justify this Parking Charge, as the Hotel is so far from the City Centre only Guests or Conference Attendees would wish to park here... This is a big Hotel with over 200 Rooms and popular for Conferences. There are over 40 Meeting Rooms available. The Bedrooms are clean and spacious, if a little spartan. The Restaurant is geared for Buffet Service, although some Tables are reserved for a more personal Service. The Tables are spread out into the Entrance Atrium and beyond the Buffet Area into the Breakfast Room: populated as required for the number of Guests residing. There is a lot of choice in the Buffet, but it is geared for more early Dining from 18:30 until about 20:00 in the Evenings. The salads are excellent: the Hot Dishes and Desserts less so. The staff seem to struggle a little with the quantity of Guests. Finding a prepared Breakfast Table can be a challenge at busy times and there can be a queue for Checking In and Out at Reception. Nevertheless the Service is Courteous and Professional.

It is easier to choose Kempinski Hotel in Germany, and the location and service are among the best in the local area. This Munich store is located in the center of the old town, on a street with luxury brands. It takes only a few minutes to walk to Marienplatz, the Royal Palace and the Hofbräuhaus. Freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast is particularly delicious, packed in clear glass bottles. Although there are not many types, the meat loaf and small sausages taste good, and they feel better than the restaurants outside. The standard room is nothing special, the bathroom is quite spacious and has a smart toilet lid, which is rare in Europe. The hotel’s swimming pool is not big. Ctrip’s website says the hotel is closed during the epidemic, but it’s especially open during the summer. Two people are restricted to travel together at a time.

Close to the train station, Germany is clean and tidy overall, and the station is slightly broken. On the road behind the main road, the beds were also small but clean. Living on the top floor, the roof is beveled and I am not familiar with it, so I was hit many times. The windows are relatively small to keep you warm. The scenery outside the window is very German. But there were no curtains, and I was worried about being seen by the building opposite when entering and leaving the toilet. 😂 Breakfast is average. This hotel is not expensive compared to domestic German, so breakfast is more average. The whole is ok, next time if you have the opportunity to go, it will be better.
