This was my fifth stay at the Grosvenor and my second since the new owners took over. We booked for three nights for the two-day Clacton air show. We were welcomed by the owner on arrival (I can always remember Julie’s name but never his – sorry) and we were given room 3 on the first floor which I’ve had before. It was clear from our last stay that the rooms have had a bit of a makeover with new bathroom/shower rooms fitted and a change of furniture. The bed was very comfortable with a memory foam mattress, tea and coffee making facilities plus water was supplied. The room also came with a flat screen TV and hairdryer. The room also had a fridge which was a nice touch and was very handy for keeping our wine and beers cold. The rooms don’t come with air-con but a pedestal fan was supplied which was most welcome has it was quite hot during our stay. The bathroom came with the usual fresh clean towels plus shower shampoo/gel was supplied. The only real comment I will make about the room is that despite it having a makeover, there were areas where a lick of paint wouldn’t go amiss such as the skirting board. The ceiling lampshade was also old and tatty but this is only a minor criticism. Breakfast was excellent, you could have the “full English” or create your own from the choice on the menu. There was also a choice of cereals and fruit juices plus tea and coffee and toast was on hand. On my last visit the dining room was having a new bar fitted, this was now completed. The dining room also has a large widescreen TV on the wall. The hotel has free Wi-Fi throughout and was pretty good. We found all the staff helpful and friendly especially Marie, she worked her socks off from serving breakfasts in the morning to cleaning and getting all the bedrooms ready. The best attribute of the hotel is that it has free parking which is a Godsend in Clacton. The hotel is also just a very short walk from Clacton station which is about a five-minute walk up the road. The hotel is also just a short walk away from the town centre and sea front with its pier and attractions. Once again, we had a very pleasant and comfortable stay and would certainly stay here again when next in Clacton.

Located close to the seafront, station, shops and other attractions, this hotel is a good base for a short stay in the town. There is no restaurant nor parking on site though this did not prove to be a problem as parking was arranged quickly by reception in the NCP car park opposite. Rooms are very clean and a peaceful night's sleep was enjoyed. The staff here are outstandingly helpful and welcoming.

Visited here on the weekend that the world went crazy , and everything closed , it did not however affect our stay , everything was perfect , the hotel is beautiful with amazing views , the staff are really professional and considering the circumstances they were really conscientious and fun , especially Hollie and Rebecca , who made our stay a real joy , they worked with real enthusiasm and zest , they stayed focused and they worked really hard and created a takeaway service which was such a nice touch , and a big hit . Our room was Luxurious With a really comfy bed and double shower , with everything you needed in the room , we went for a walk down by the sea then had a super breakfast which was yummy with ample portions , we played board games and just relaxed all weekend , we had a Sunday roast before we left and that too was delicious. Big shout to the chef think his name was Simon Thanku kings cliff we will definitely be returning . This hotel is a definite five star

Hotel is very well placed to reach everywhere even walking, reception was friendly & helpful. Our room was small but very clean and comfortable with a spotless bathroom although bathroom was tiny (room 10). Floorboards were squeaky! But room locked with a good old fashioned key and sturdy lock so felt very safe. No quibbles or problems with this hotel it is after all a budget hotel. Good car parking straight outside too. Didn't visit the Bar/Lounge so can't comment - free Wifi throughout - overall if you're looking for somewhere on a budget - this hotel will fit the bill.

I stayed at the Chudleigh for a Weekend away with my grown up children and partners. Absoultely beautiful hotel in a fantastic location, cannot fault it on one thing. Breakfast was outstanding cooked by Peter with a lovely little touch of a freshly baked Muffin for everyone to take away as a snack for the journey home. Rooms were of exceptional quality , comfy beds, great decor and bathrooms sparkly clean with whiter than white towels. We asked for a late checkout and that wasnt a problem at all in fact we were told " no rush " whenever we were ready. This meant we could go off and enjoy the weekend for longer before heading home. Carroll and Peter were brilliant hosts. Very friendly and couldnt do enough to make our stay any more pleasant. This is clearly why they have succesfully ran The Chudleigh since 1963! I will definitely be going back to The Chudleigh !

At our Clacton-On-Sea hotel, Clacton Pier's rides and amusements are only a short stroll away, as is the lovely sandy beach. And if you like theatre then you're in for a treat because the West Cliff Theatre is nearby, too. There's nothing like sea air to put the wind beneath your wings, and there's nothing like relaxing in style in one of our new generation bedrooms, featuring an impressive 40 flat screen TV, bright, modern bathroom with a large shower head, and brand new, slumber-inducing, king-size Hypnos bed. So pack a bag and come stay with us at Clacton-On-Sea (Seafront) Premier Inn
