Awful location right in centre of Reading where there is absolutely NO PARKING anywhere near the hotel. You cannot even stop just outside to set passengers down or drop luggage as it is entirely surrounded by double RED lines - no stopping at any time. You have to park in a long stay car park at the Railway Station, which is a good 7 or 8 minutes walk away, and carry your luggage to the hotel yourself. Lad who checked us in was so helpful. He not only found me some additional pillows and brought them to the room very quickly, but he also booked a cab for us to our restaurant at the Oracle. On the other hand, the girl on duty this morning obviously could not give a toss when I reported that our air conditioning did not work and our toilet did not flush. As it was the hottest day on record yesterday, we had to try to sleep with a tiny window open to get any air, which of course (in a city centre) was noisy. As for the toilet, the very least I demand of any hotel room is that I get a functioning toilet. I had to take the plastic inner from the waste bin in the bathroom and fill it with water in the sink and then tip it into the toilet to get rid of our waste. Not pleasant. And this was in the £340 a night Rocket suite! Girl on duty's response - ”I will tell maintenance”. Not even a ”sorry to hear that” let alone any offer of compensation by reducing the bill. Awful. Will never stay here again.

Nice room. There is a pool and gym. If you are driving, you can email hotel with car plate to reserve a car park. 4 EV charging parking space is available. Tricky to find the car park though, so entrance on Station Rd. Shopping area across the street. Find the Picnic cafe, they bakery and coffee is great.

The good part: Staff are very friendly although check-in seems to take a little longer than Premier Inn, the reception area and seating to relax looks fantastic and the pizzas that the staff make 24/7 are absolutely delicious. The drink & pizza prices are reasonable. Location wise is spot on, just a two minute walk from the train station and central to everything. They provide more variety of tea & coffee in rooms, such as fruit & herbal teas, and decaff coffee, this totally beats any other budget hotel. Bad points: This is a cashless hotel & this is something i'm firmly against for a variety of reasons they lost £200 in sales due to this from myself & friends. The pillows are rock hard and kept waking up with a sore neck, the beds are also uncomfortable and feels like your sleeping on the floor. The noise from housekeeping is absolutely atrocious all you hear from several floors above and below, are the staff dragging large heavy trollies around and this goes on from 11am to 4pm if you need to sleep during the day forget it. The toilets smell of sewage & urine so sometimes you return back to your room and it stinks. There is also construction work ongoing Monday-Friday until Nov 2022 yet the prices are still very high. The cooling systems seem to work fine for an hour or so but then quickly the room becomes stuffy and warm, due to the location having the window open is very noisy especially at weekends.

Just come back today from staying in the studio flat. I would easily stay here again. It was an easy check in. You get emailed with a request of ID requirements they need and once you’ve confirmed this they then send you a link to pay for the stay at the apartment and a deposit which is refundable depending on any damages etc. Clean linen supplied, with also cutlery, plates, mugs, pans and pots etc. Was a lovely spacious clean place to stay. It honestly felt like a home from home. For a couple who just wanted some ‘us’ time without work etc constantly getting in the way. It was relaxing and for a women I felt safe and secure in and around the building when I wasn’t with my partner. Michela from guest services was polite and friendly with a ‘can do attitude’ and helped with queries I had and made me feel at ease. Thank you Michela. Your central to everything and everything was in a nice walking distance. I can’t wait to book again and this time dependent on work I hope it’s longer than two nights! See you soon!!

This is a beautiful quaint pub run by the fullers brewer.Quintessentially English it was a posting in many years ago on the route from London to Bath and beyond. The stables are now the kitchen and it is the kitchen I would like to highlight.Firstly is has a chef not a cook and the food is beautiful….however…and there is always a however, the portions are very small…..for example the octopus starter is one 6 inch tentacle……I saw it delivered to the table and the man’s face was absolute shock…..”£10 for that.I could buy a giant 🐙 octopus for the same price” he exclaimed.Woofed it down in 30secomds😂😂It’s a shame because the food is vey good. Open fire, good selection of ales and largest, fantastic staff, especially Ray behind the bar. Please Git this place it’s lovely……but don’t come here if your hungry😂😂

We used this hotel as a base to go horse racing in Newbury. Our initial room did'nt have a bath, but the very helpful young man on reception moved us without fuss in no time. When settled we went for a drink in the bar.We had booked dinner for both days and were very happy with both the food and the service( Ramana and Steffan were excellent). Breakfast was also good with plenty of variety and re-stocked regularly. Well done to all concerned,we will return. As a side note, a taxi to the racecourse is between £12 and £15 each way and takes about 15 mins.

the second i checked in got a very warm welcome from Safia and Prachi which made me feel very happy and is clear that the staff care about their jobs, even though the staff where polite the food was undercooked on multiple occasions during my stay which had also made vomit, i personally think the managers should be more on top of food quality.

Really helpful staff. Let us securely leave travel case before check-in time. Contacted us early (1PM) to let us have our apartment before the 3PM check-in. Apartment really is home from home! Fully kitted out kitchen. Modern furnishing, decoration and really clean. The apartments really our sound proofed and internally very quiet. Quiet complex and lift or stairs to aid access to apartments. Nice, warm and secure. Reception is hosted and even late at night you have an access code. The lovely lady on reception even said can call her if we could not gain entry! Perfect location - 2 minute walk to Oracle (shops) bars and restaurants. Even Sainsbury's is close so you can cook a meal in the kitchen. We guess the only thing to be aware is the complex is in a vibrant area and externally until 0200/0300 it is noisy so an earlyish night is not easy but this aside, well worth a stay.

Didn’t expect much from this hotel for the price but we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms are very basic but were clean enough and had everything there we needed for a short stay. Everything is on your doorstep and the pub in the hotel is a great place to start your night off. The staff were all really friendly and very helpful and there was a good atmosphere, we seen a few meals being served and they all loooked nice. The breakfast was outstanding, we had the full English and didn’t have one complaint, there was plenty on the plate and the bacon especially was fantastic. I honestly feel we got more value for our money, If you want to live in luxury then this isn’t the place for you but if you want somewhere cheap and cheerful then we would 100% recommend.

I stayed at the Market House for one night to recover after a long flight. My room (room 1 on the first floor) delighted me. I loved the bright, quirky decoration, excellent, spotless bathroom, comfortable mattress and the superior tea/coffee selection. So much thought had gone into decorating and equipping the room. The heating (on a cold, cold day) was brilliant. I slept so well (note it was midweek and there was no noise from the bar below or on the street outside). Checking-in, however, could have been better -- I needed to make a phone call from the street outside -- and the staff member with whom I dealt appeared disappointingly subdued about Reading and about the hotel itself.

UK team meeting hosted at the hotel for 3 days. Excellent service, and a terrific location. Our visitors from abroad loved the views of the river. Facilities were top notch, and particularly noted that we had none of the usual connectivity issues when speaking to team members worldwide. A number of the team stayed at the hotel and I’ve had very favour feedback.Special thanks to Isabel, Federica and general manager Anne for looking after us for the week.

Incredibly disappointed with my stay. Room was hot and smelt very strongly of Indian takeaway on arrival. Bedding had blood on it. Bedhead in poor repair. Bathroom door did not close. Outer window was impossible to close due to the position of the television set and the inner window frame. Shower clearly cleaned but smelt very musty. Room 205 is next door to the linen room. Staff used this room loudly after midnight at 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. talking, banging the door repeatedly, and shaking sheets out. This woke me up multiple times, and I did not sleep well. There were no hairdryers available, I had to go out and buy one. The lift did not work. My card to enter the building stopped working during my stay and needed changing, which was another inconvenience. None of this is the fault of the staff who were very pleasant. Perfect location with cafes and shops nearby, just a shame that the place isn't well maintained. There's bog standard and then there's this.

Perfect for me as it’s right across from the office but probably not so great if you wanted to be in the city centre although it’s only an £8 taxi ride or £2 bus ride. Opposite a Beefeater which was handy but I would prefer an on-site bar and restaurant. Felt a bit uncomfortable on check-in to be asked if I was a smoker (I’m not) and if anyone would be joining me later 😳. Didn’t like the bed being made up with sheets, blanket and counter pane as it’s quite uncomfortable particularly on one of the hottest days of the year although the mobile air conditioning unit helped (first time I’ve had sheets and blankets for over 30 years since the day I got married despite extensive business (weekly) and leisure travel (4-6 times a year)). Hotel was very clean and the bathroom was well equipped. A bottle of water would have been a welcome addition to the room particularly in such hot weather. Not sure who to recommend the hotel to as it’s neither a corporate hotel with all the amenities or a home from home. Breakfast was on offer for an additional £15 and I decided to wait until I checked in to see. As I wanted to be in the office for 8am and there was no menu available, times of service or visibility of a dining room, other facilities or even other guests, I decided it may be too intimate and opted for a cold sandwich I had stored in the office fridge ‘just in case’. Was similarly priced to the executive room I had in the Novotel last week which had a full buffet breakfast included.

Very good British basic three-star rooms below have no slippers. This is a four-star location, but there is no toothbrush and toothpaste. You need to bring your own. There is a computer in the lobby. Breakfast can be printed for free. If you want to eat Chinese food and breakfast, you need to charge another five. You can cross the road to the subway station, but the British subway law and order is very poor. There are a lot of subway thieves. Please don't bring too much cash. You can use the visa card to swipe the card anywhere. Don't worry about carrying a 100 pounds. enough

Overall this is a really nice hotel, but what would make it really great is a little more staff training. The staff are all really lovely, but they lack a bit of common sense and management. The hotel appears to be aiming for a high end of the market, so we were surprised by the poor training of some of the staff. The chap behind the bar on the two evenings we were there was really nice, but oh my goodness he was so slow. Each time we ordered a drink we had to tell him two or three times what we wanted. They didn't have the wine I wanted, but instead of handing me a list of their wines or telling me what wines they have, he just looked blankly at me and waited for me to ask if he had a certain wine. When he had poured the drinks he never told us how much they were, he just got the card machine out (they don't take cash) and we paid. We had to ask for the card machine receipt, but never gave us a till receipt so we still have no idea how much each individual drink cost. By the way the drinks are really expensive. The first night we had a pint of larger and a large white wine which came to £15.30p and the next night two large glasses of wine (one red, one white) which came to £23.50p. At no time during our stay were we offered a till receipt. We were shocked by the half pint and pint glasses given to customers (even ladies) which were the old fashioned ones with handles, which we hadn't seen for many years. Some ladies were struggling to drink from them. I really think the hotel should reconsider this and at least offer ladies a tall glass. The same chap was on his own behind the bar for both nights, but at no point did any other member of staff come to help him, especially when quite a bit queue had formed (because he was so slow), even though there were plenty of staff in the area. The waiting staff were friendly and polite, but again lacked a bit of guidance and training. One of the young waiters was wiping a table while the plates etc were still on the table. We wanted a table that people had just left and he kindly said he would clear the table for us and re-set it. He did re-set it, but didn't wipe it over and left the jug of water from the previous people. It is a large hotel and there were two coach trips booked in as well as quite a few other guests, so it was quite busy on both evenings. Having said this the hotel rooms were lovely and we enjoyed our stay. Our room was on the first floor which was nice and quiet. Rooms were extremely clean and tidy and well maintained. We were on a coach trip, so not in the hotel much of the time during the day. A few tweaks and this could be a really top notch hotel. Top tip: if the bar prices put you off, pop round to the local shop (turn left out of the main entrance of the hotel, turn right at the end of the road and there are a couple of shops up there and a cafe). You can buy drink there to put in the fridge in your room. Also, ice machine on the first floor by the lifts

The hotel was excellent, in our room was a comfortable King size bed, with good en suite facilities. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful with a good knowledge of the locality. We opted for the full English breakfast, which was supplemental to the room charge, but was well cooked and tasty, and gave a good start to the day. Although about a mile from the city centre, the hotel is only a couple of hundred yards from a bus stop with frequent services to the city centre. There is free off road parking.Thoroughly recommended.

Nice room. There is a pool and gym. If you are driving, you can email hotel with car plate to reserve a car park. 4 EV charging parking space is available. Tricky to find the car park though, so entrance on Station Rd. Shopping area across the street. Find the Picnic cafe, they bakery and coffee is great.

Stayed at Bow Guesthouse for one night during the week. Upon arrival was met by Mr and Mrs Raza, they are both so lovely. Room was great and even smelt of curry my absolute favourite so I was a happy customer. Would definitely recommend to fellow curry lovers.

Tiny room with no opening window. Lack of fire signs in corridor, so it would be very risky if there was smoke. I don't like the bathroom arrangements as no privacy and just a screen. It is really poor design. The room was very hot in the night. It was ok for one night but I would not repeat my visit. Staff are nice and the vending machine is handy.

This is possibly the worst hotel I have stayed in. The building looks beautiful from the outside and when arriving I thought I was in for a treat, however as soon as I stepped inside I was contemplating paying £200 for a room at Premier Inn. The place is really run down, falling apart at the seams. On check in I was directed to the “Kendrick Building” and was told my room was on the first floor. Unfortunately there are about 5 different staircases each leading to 4 or 5 rooms, there aren’t any connecting corridors linking them all. Eventually I gave up and went back to reception and was escorted to the room. The room numbers follow no logic, I was in a room that started with a 9 and the room next to me started with a 5. On entering the room I was again thinking about walking back out and paying over the odds for a Premier In . It was really bad. Peeling paint, bashed up walls and a strange smell. At least the bed would be comfortable right? No. It was rock solid and seemed to be very short compared to most other budget hotel beds. The sheets had a few faint stains but were otherwise clean. It was fairly noisy so I thought why not close the window - oh wait, how do I raise the blinds? The pull cord to raise and lower them had been chopped off. Not that it would have mattered anyway, the windows were shut but single glazed, badly fitting and draughty. The room faced a fairly busy road so there was constant traffic noise, sirens, and drunk people passing by throughout the night. The bathroom was roughly half the size of a shoebox. To use the sink I had to stand in the doorway. The toilet was shoved up so close to the sink that my knee was touching it. The shower was quite small but adequate, although the shower head sprayed in every direction except where you pointed it, and looked like something from the 80’s. Which was probably the last time it was cleaned too - it was filthy. After again contemplating an expensive late-rate Premier Inn I decided to go out for dinner rather than risk the restaurant. I came back around 11pm planning on getting a good nights rest before a long day of meetings the next day and I fell asleep at about 11.30pm. BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZS!!!!! What the HELL is that? It was a very loud fridge located behind a wardrobe door, whirring away like a potable AC unit. Nice of them to provide a fridge, but I would much rather not have one than be woken up by a very loud electrical buzzing sound every 30 minutes. The final straw was the guest next door whistling for about 10 seconds at 30 minute intervals until about 3am. At this point I gave up and slept in my car for a couple of hours. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Do not waste your money.

We reserved a 5-day period, including Christmas, because we were looking for a comfortable and quiet place. They first placed us in the 6th tower in the apartment 6B, but it was extremely noisy. The apartment is wide, was well clean and the team seems to be well professional, there is also a safety that is staying in the parking, but this detail with the floor and acoustics left unwanted. They moved us upstairs, 6C, to try to threaten the noise problem, but when other guests entered 6B, it was possible to hear TV, conversation, floor, everything! So if you are someone who needs quiet and a little silence to work, find another place. P-S: TV is not smart and almost no channel options, the washing machine wasn't working. I think that for £100 a day, they could improve these aspects!

The Voco hotel Reading was exceptional form start to finish. From the welcome from Rico (Brilliant customer service) to the 30th Anniversary message and treats in the room from Adel and Adrianna. Adrianna booked us out and has perfect customer service skills. We have now stayed in Cardiff Bay and Reading and would recommend both

A well kept and centrally located building for services apartments in the center of Reading. Clean, very well equipped apartments. We had a hickup with extending our reservation, but that was solved by a very professional Guest Services Manager Craig Priest (did leave us outside for a Saturday night though). Highly recommended.
