An extra pillow could be nice and an option to make coffee in the room but the complimentary toiletries, coffee and water were a nice touch. Hotels Near Restaurante Chino Hang Zhou In Bilbao Review

4.8/537 Reviews
The hotel is in a good location, Bilbao is not very large and you can access most of the city on foot, or by tram. It has been refurbished and has good services, but yes, EYE with the disco that is on the ground floor of the same hotel. From room 709 that overlooks a courtyard, the music rumbled and until 4 in the morning we could not keep an eye, even being on the seventh floor. I told the manager that I was at the Reception at 11:30 pm when I arrived at the hotel, I looked at myself like saying 'this girl is crazy' and the next day I tell the reception staff. If there is a club at the bottom, then they should 1) soundproof the disco well so that it doesn't rumble in the rooms, or 2) change the windows for sound insulators. It has annoyed me personally over the weekend, so I do not recommend it.

We stayed here for 7 days and found the hotel to be very nice. Front desk service was very good and breakfast restaurant service was outstanding. Housekeeping was efficient and the rooms were clean. Breakfast itself was very nice with a wide variety of food. The location of the hotel was good but not optimal for a tourist as it was about 8 - 10 minutes walk to the metro, old town and more to the shopping area. Walking back and forth to the metro got tiring quickly. This is not an issue if you have a car as the garage is right there. There were a few minor quirks in the hotel. Getting tea at breakfast could be challenging as the hot water cane out of the coffee machines and lines tend to form. It would have been better to just have separate tea kettles to reduce the lines. The setup of the bathroom was just not good with the washbasin and shower as part of the bedroom. This may work for a single person using the room but for a couple it was not ideal. Finally every night around 9-10PM the internet slowed to a crawl. Obviously their system cannot support the number of users surfing the net in the evening. Overall it is a good hotel with good service but I am not sure I will stay there in the future. I will probably get something closer to the Gran Via or Casco Viejo (metro station). It is more convenient for a tourist.

The location of the hotel is superb. The most newest hotel in Bilbao. The parking brothers are super nice. Everyone speaks good English. Four-star hotel. Five-star + service. When checking in, the big brother at the front desk introduced various local attractions and food. When I checked out, I parked the car a lot. Will eat pinchos before coming back, hotel has parking lot for 18 euros a day

We arrived via the airport bus and found the accommodation easily thanks to reading the reviews beforehand. It is a doorway with a many signs including one for Bilbao city rooms. The rooms are on floors 4 and 5 with Reception on the 4th. Check in was fast and simple with a warm welcome from the lady at reception. The whole two floors have well lit clean corridors and the lift is great. The room was a very clean well presented modern double with a large shower room and plenty of storage. The window s can be opened and I like other reviews mentioning the heat and the ceiling fan... we can say it’s chilly at night but the heating does come on at ten! The location of these room is very central and excellent l. Great transport links if needed but we walked all around the old and new parts of the city with the Guggenheim, bars and restaurants all on our doorstep. Shopping in Bilbao is fantastic and dint be afraid to visit the 2nd hand stores .. some amazing finds!!!

We arrived in Bilbao to spend one night before driving out of the city. We were aware the hotel had limited spots, but were told additional parking was available nearby. We pulled across the street (in a non-parking spot), hoping to drop bags, get directions to parking, so one of us could check in while the other secured the car in a lot. Unfortunately the desk clerk decided to rail on about how cars were unnecessary, he had travelled through Spain, France and Italy without a car, how most hotels had a small percentage of parking for number of rooms, etc. I told him we also prefer public transport but this time we were headed to places that required a car and would he please just let us know the location of the off-site lot. Meanwhile my partner waited nearby with the car. Finally, I told him he was making me feel unwelcome. He continued being unhelpful so I sent my partner in to finish the process. I'm not sure if he had a problem with women or I reminded him of someone he had a problem with, but it was ridiculous. The room itself was okay, considering it was lowered priced. Neighborhood was so-so. But mostly I'd never recommend it because of the way I was treated. There are many better options.

We had rooms on the 7th floor and these had the most comfortable beds I’ve ever experienced at an hotel. House keeping was unpredictable and disappointing. Rooms not cleaned and when they were the door was left open. They did eventually supply an ironing board and kettle. The breakfast is comprehensive and good although the hot food is not very hot. The hotel is well located about 15 mins walk to the Old Town and 30mins walk to Guggenheim. The metro is 5 mins from the hotel and Guggenheim is 3 stops away. Parking is 20€ per day.

We are a family of 4 and we always find it difficult to find a room for the 4 of us. The family room in the Hotel Gran Bilbao was the best yet. We had 2 large individual rooms, each room with two VERY comfortable beds. Each room had a tv and individual a/c controls. The bathroom was also very big and the jacuzzi shower was a total treat! Breakfast was a feast with everything freshly made you could think of! From fresh fruits, pastries, healthy and vegan cakes, smoothies, hot meals, freshly made tortillas and eggs, crepes, and waffles! Kids and adults loved it! The breakfast room was spacious and had a lovely view of a large bridge. The hotel has underground parking (€16/night) and it is located in the outskirts on top of a steep hill. It is a 10-minute walk to the old quarter (Casco Viejo) where we had lovely pintxos in one of the central squares. There is a bus that would take you there but we preferred to walk. The beautiful and more modern financial district with a fabulous walk by the river, architecture and the Guggenheim museum is a bit further away and I would recommend taking the car (underground car parks in the city center) or take a bus.

Very good hotel, just outside the city centre, but with the tram stop literally in front of the door. The road is fairly busy, but we had rooms at the back, where it was quiet enough to have the window open. Sizaeable room, desk, TV, luggage rack, cupboard with safe. Good mattresses and a 4 choice pillow menu. Big bathroom, with ample place for toiletries. Shower over bathtub though.Nice breakfast bufet, with lots of fresh goodies to choose from (including lactose free and soy options). Friendly, helpful staff. Wifi a bit unstable in the room sometimes. Also has metro station in walking distance, supermaket opposite the street. Also a long road around the corner with lots of cafes/bars, leading to a beautiful park at the end.

From the moment we got there until we left the service was great. On arrival we were not able to park our car due to the roof box which meant it was too high for the underground guest parking, the gentleman behind the counter got us a parking spot and got us help in getting to and from it. Drinks in the bar were lovely. The room was clean and well equipped (although the bathroom internal door handle needs attention), breakfast in the morning was a good selection. No on request cooked options, however, there was scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon prepared but with the wide selection of fruit, hams and meats, cheeses, breads, eggs, juices, cereals, yoghurts we were well catered for. We can’t wait to come back!

Stayed for four nights as I was attending an event. My husband joined me for the last day. Overall a great stay.. Walking distance to Guggenheim. Staff members at the reception and breakfast were very cordial. Esther gave us complimentary tickets to see vintage cars at the Guggenheim and we wouldn't have known that the cars were on display if she hadn't mentioned. That was the best part of our trip. Thanks for that! Two things which could be improved are to have a bit more options for breakfast and have a proper glass door for the shower.

Hotel Abando is set in a fantastic location, within walking distance of pretty much all the sights in Bilbao. The hotel is really comfortable and staff are great. We loved the design of the bedrooms which were really comfortable. The hotel is situated right beside a really lively street which seems to be the centre of the night life, yet you hear no noise in the hotel itself. We really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it. Breakfast is a bit of a rip off but there are plenty of places nearby to grab something to eat.

My wife is in the luxury travel business and has placed several clients there. Praised by all, so we were pleased to enjoy the property first-hand recently during a visit to France, then the Rioja and Basque regions of Spain. Hotel Domine is across the street from the Guggenheim Museum. Modern, stylish facility. Excellent shopping within a five-block radius. Breakfast on the seventh-floor terrace is a treat. Le Cafe on the ground floor has one of the best fixed-price luncheon menus we’ve enjoyed in Spain (38 Euros for three courses; imaginative menu). Polished, friendly, attentive service from the waiting and bussing staff. The reception and bell staff is top rate. They recommended a classic neighborhood gem of a seafood restaurant. The front desk took care of printing our Covid test results for returning to the U.S. One staff member, Diego, and the reception team solved a problem we had by arranging to retrieve something left inadvertently at another hotel. They arranged a taxi for an early flight and waited with us at the curb to make sure all went well. I wish we could have stayed there a few days more.

Fabulously clean, cute and cutting edge accommodations. Reception was friendly, multi-lingual and efficient. This is a nugget hotel, so not a lot of thrill. The lobby was on the small side but inviting. There’s an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet one can purchase (I did not) two elevators take you right upstairs. The hallways are cheeky and sweet. The room was small but as a touristy traveler that was fine. I don’t want to be in a hotel room. I’m out exploring. The bed was very comfortable and the whole room was spotless. Toilet and shower are separate which is helpful if there are two in the room. Highly recommend this place.

Stayed here the past weekend for 3 nights. The welcome was already amazing. The NYX Bilbao has a warm and hospitable feeling, and the staff are genuinely working to make sure everything is perfect, which it was. The front office manager - Amaia (hopefully I remembered it correctly) was so kind and personal. The passion and hospitality from the staff was inspiring. The rooms are clean, spacious and provide a lovely view of the Bilbao city Centre. We went for a drink every day in the hotel bar lobby, and the vibe there was calm and open. The bar staff has excellent knowledge about their cocktails and came with nice and creative recommendations. To add to this, very fair prices as well. Bilbao is a beautiful city, and the NYX in Bilbao fits that image so well. I would highly recommend staying here if you want to explore the city, because of the interior, facilities, staff, overall cleanliness and location, everything just makes sense. Thank you so much to the entire NYX Bilbao team for making this an unforgettable experience, I will for sure come back!! Also special thanks to Ms Herrera for checking up on us!! appreciate it :)

Had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for 6 nights on a quick trip to Bilbao for work. I will admit, this is my first time at a Mercure brand hotel, so had little to no expectations. Well, if this is the judging stick, then I will definitely select Mercure hotels in the future. From check-in, the staff were super pleasant and very helpful. One of my colleagues lost their luggage and one of the front desk attendants helped him to find somewhere that was open (on a Sunday) to get some things. All other aspects of check-in were a breeze. The lobby is quaint, with multiple seating areas and a bar. I stayed on the 5th floor by the elevator, but I could hardly hear people using it. The room had a comfortable bed, nice sized shower and was overall just comfortable. There was no iron or ironing board in the room, but was quickly supplied upon request. Location..., the hotel is located perfectly. It is in walking distance to a lot of nice restaurants/tapas bars, a park, shopping of all kinds, the river, Guggenheim museum, you name it. However, it must be said, that from Thursday onwards, there are multiple clubs in the direct vicinity of the hotel, so be prepared for crowds and possible noise. Nevertheless, if and when I am back in Bilbao for work or personal reasons, I will definitely check if this hotel has availability. One problem, if I have to list one, the parking garage is super tiny and gave every driver serious angst to park the car. But, it is directly connected to the hotel, so we made it work.

I stayed at the NH hotel for one night in April 2022 on a family vacation. This is a large, modern, very clean and well-organized hotel which merits its four stars. The location is very good, within walking distance to the shopping district and to the Guggenheim museum, while not being too far from the old city, either. There is parking under the hotel, which is helpful. Our room was large and very comfortable. There was a decent mini bar and good coffee and tea facilities in the room. The beds were ultra comfortable and the bathroom was very modern, clean, and large. The staff was helpful and spoke excellent English. We ordered from room service and the food was good, and not as overpriced as I have seen elsewhere. We did not have breakfast at the hotel (catching an early flight) but I would expect it to be on the same level as everything else - true 4 star quality. Highly recommended!

We left it a little late to book a room in Bilbao for one night at the end of our holiday, so this was the best we could find at fairly late notice in our price range for one night on a weekend. I hope the weekday rates are cheaper, but it's definitely overpriced for what you get! It's a pretty decent central location and the staff all seemed nice enough. However, the hotel has seen better days and seems a bit run down. There's a strong musty kind of smell throughout (particularly noticeable in our room). When I walked into the room and put the card into the electricity thingy, it partially fell off the wall (!) - though it did go back on again and still worked. The bed was very soft and not especially comfortable, but the worst thing was how thin the walls are. I mean, noise generally carries in hotels, but this was ridiculous - the walls may as well have been curtains for all the good they did! You can hear EVERYTHING. I definitely did not get a good night's sleep, and nor did my other half who can usually sleep through allsorts. Water pressure in the shower was good, but other than the staff and the location, that's probably the only good thing I have to say. Would I stay here again? Not if I can help it.

Cute hotel located on the hill of Bilbao. Husband and I came for leisure. We were a little hesitant since our Spanish is not the best but the owners spoke english. They made us feel comfortable and well taken care of. We arrived early and they let us drop off our luggage for storage. They guided us all the way to our room and even carried my luggage. Any questions they said not to hesitant and ask. We also enjoyed the breakfast they had on site. You have to reserve ahead of time due to covid. There are specific slots of when to have breakfast. The cafe is small but the food is delicious. Everything is made on site. We noticed the owner still in her pjs making food for the hotel. We thought it was cute. They also have a fridge with drinks that you order at the front desk and they bring it out to you. They even poured it in drinking glasses. Very nice! Overall, i would come again. Like that it was more on the countryside and the hospitality was top notch.

Our final overnight stop before catching the ferry back to the uk is always in Bilbao if this is were we are catching the ferry from. We normally stay on the other side of the river near the old town but decided to stay in the new commercial centre. Found the hotel quite easy and parked up outside in order to get directions to their car park which even though it was around the back of the hotel the final part in gaining entry was to drive down a predestination precinct. very good car park lots of space and elevators up to reception and the rooms floors once you had checked in and got your access key. Rooms modern clean and good WiFi service. With so many options we dined out for dinner and also did quite a bit of retailing the town map the hotel give you is very good. The location of the hotel is very good, it takes about 20 minutes to walk from the Guggenheim Museum and the old town. Bilbao is not big, and the main attractions can be walked around. The room is not big, but the layout is compact, and even an extra bed for the child. According to the waiter's reminder, the railway station not far from the hotel is not very safe, so don't go there at night. As soon as you leave the hotel, there are various restaurants and bars on the street on the left hand side, as well as two grilled meats. Of course, there is also a local famous food: grilled pork knuckle. The taste is average, but the meat is fresher and tenderer than domestic ones. It is recommended.

We stayed at this hotel twice within a week, taking an overnight to San Sebastian and then checking back in again. We're Bonvoy Titanium members, and on our first 3 night stay we used our "Suite Nights Rewards" to upgrade to a marvelous suite with a ton of room, which was incredible comfortable. We stayed at 5 different Bonvoy properties on this trip to Spain, and this one by far gave us the best acknowledgement of our status with several nice little perks. Our second stay the room was ordinary, but still comfortable. The hotel has a really excellent breakfast. The breakfast staff is excellent and works very hard even though they can be a little overly solicitous (but perhaps this is how they are trained in Spain because this was true also at the other Bonvoy properties and as Americans we're a little more used to serving ourselves). Such a great selection of breads, and many meats, cheeses, cereals, pastries, fruits, fruit juices (delicious banana smoothie). The hotel is in a great location. We walked very easily from the bus station and then walked all over the city from the hotel. Everything of interest is within walking distance (well, it is to us because we like to walk). Some reviews complain that this isn't in the Casco Viejo. Bilbao is a big city, so you can't be close to everything. We liked being able to walk to the bus and train stations and the Guggenheim, and the Casco Viejo is certainly walkable in 20 minutes. We had the concierge make a couple of dinner reservations for us because we were unable to make them online since our U.S. phone numbers kept getting rejected. I don't know what happened, but one of them when we arrived at the restaurant they didn't have our names (given the total lack of caring or regret on the part of the restaurant I think it's them to blame and not the hotel), but this worked out just fine with us because we ended up just eating at Bar Americano and we had an excellent meal. The bartender there makes the very best Negroni!! We enjoyed the rooftop terrace one evening and fortunately the weather was bad and therefore it wasn't too crowded (the front desk will make a reservation for you if you're a guest), but we didn't not return because everyone up there is smoking. I know it's outdoors, but when every single table but you is full of smokers you absolutely do smell the stench and it ruins everything. We didn't even stay for dessert because the cigarettes were unbearable (it took me back to those terrible days of travel in Europe in the 1980s). Everything very clean and comfortable.

Excellent cleaning, very good bed quite above the category of membership, very good and careful reception girl and gave me very useful information for the stay and how to move. In spite of the distance from the city center there is a fabulous 50-metre train from the structure that brings you to the city center in 14 minutes! Two bus lines at 200 metres (20/30 minutes to reach the nervous points). The Metro stop is inaccessible because it is beyond the river, so the news reported is wrong! Quality ratio /prezzo excellent. You can want breakfast because there is a small kitchen in common. Very satisfied!

Booked two rooms here in March as part of a trip around Basque and Rioja. Originally booked the hotel for three nights, but then had to fly home early and asked to change to one night with over 24 hours notice. They refused and I had to get my booking agent involved (who thankfully sorted it). We booked a superior room with an orange window. Gave the whole view of the river a strange orange hue, along with everything else in the room. Could not get cool air in the room, only hot. Beds were really comfortable and the location is good for the 'newer' parts of the city (inc. Guggenheim), but it's a bit of a walk from the older parts of town and the main shopping/eating areas. Sleep was ruined by 'banging' noises throughout the night - it was a breezy night and I think a window had been left open by the lifts. Would not stay again.

The location is on the edge of the old town, but overlooking a park, near the river, and within a 15 minute walk (along the river) to the Guggenheim. Our double room was small, but comfortable. We asked to be in a quiet location on a high floor and were indeed provided with a room on the 5th floor, with an excellent view of the city life in the park across the street. There is no 'lobby' to speak of in the hotel, just a small seating area. This was not a problem for us, however. The breakfast room is on the first floor and breakfast was adequate, with sufficient variety of breads, cheeses, ham, pastries, fruit, etc. The personal at the hotel are extremely friendly, helpful and professional. When one of our party was ill, they came forward in a kind way to offer help. They also very kindly booked our taxi back to the airport. All of this was done with a smile and in perfectly good English. In short, this is a great option at the right price in an excellent location in Bilbao! Strongly recommended.

Basque-English architect Manuel Maria Smith Ibarra brought the Carlton Hotel to the world's attention in 1926. Not only does the building impress from the outside with its triangular arrangement with chamfered corners, but it is the splendor of the interior and the 6 floors that makes an overwhelming impression. The rooms are luxurious and stylishly furnished, but it was the size of the king-size bed that caused us a lot of inconvenience due to our age. This issue was resolved thanks to the personal help and efforts of the duty manager, Mr. Pablo Arana, resulting in a move to a twin bedded room. This convenience made the rest of our stay very comfortable. A buffet breakfast is offered every morning at the hotel, which can also be used by outsiders at an additional cost. Hotel Carlton Bilbao is centrally located on Moyua Plaza, right next to a bus and metro stop. The Mercado de la Ribera farmers' market is just a mile away, the famous Guggenheim Museum and other places of interest are a 5 to 10-minute walk from the hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble for the customer. It is recommended to visit the El Globo bar, 3 minutes walk from the hotel, where you can find an excellent choice of pintxos.
