|2.46km from city centerWe really enjoyed our “bigger” room as a family of 4. Very spacious, modern and has nice lighting. The kitchen island was brilliant as we were able to let the kids make their dinner while we went out to a lovely restaurant nearby. The location is perfect for the charming old downtown area. It’s only 5 minutes to the downtown airport if you are flying out domestic. They have some parking right in front, which isn’t the case for other high end hotels downtown. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Would absolutely stay again!

|2.04km from city centerThe experience in this hotel for the last 2 days was made remarkable by front desk receptionist, Farooq, whom without hesitation and perfect can-do attitude helped me recover my misplaced cell phone with the Bus Tour Iceland company who just dropped us off. It is people like Farooq that ensure great travel experiences can remain as such. I recommend this hotel because its staff that truly care for their guests.

|2.54km from city centerThis hotel is the perfect location for a visit to Reykjavik. The main shopping street and many restaurants are within walking distance, as well as the old wharf where the whale watching ships are located. The staff was great, the coffee house excellent. Make sure to get a superior room; the second time we stayed we were not given that type of room and it was smaller and on the noisier side of the hotel. On the weekends, the bars close at 4:30 am, so there is much partying going on!

|1.24km from city centerThis hostel has a practical and functional location only. The only reason to stay here is for it’s convenient pickup and drop off stop for tours and the airport. The room was a 4 bed dorm and was stark. Located opposite the kitchen and above the main entrance meant it was quite noisy too. The bunks are very, very basic. There aren’t charging points at each bed in this particular dorm (3) and the blanket provided is a decorative throw. The cleaning left a lot to be desired. Regularly had to ask reception for hand soap in the toilet, paper towels and toilet paper. The Wi-Fi is non-existent and the reception staff are totally ambivalent; they are pleasant but absolutely no desire to help. Plausible deniability comes to mind. You only stay here for the location that allows you access to all that Iceland has to offer.

|2.11km from city centerI’m trying to write a balanced review … so here goes … Benefits: Location Clean rooms L’OR coffee machine … but there is a but later on …. Nice chocolate offered on check in but just slapped into my hand! 2 x bottles of water offered again just dumped into my hand no here we are complementary snacks and water on behalf of Canopy Hilton … I found this level of service not good. Set backs: Diamond member - remember a serious amount of money spent at Hilton brand hotels and extreme loyalty to the Hilton brand - No upgrade offered, but suites still Showing on Hilton app for entire stay and on booking.com Canopy Hilton might have shown the same commitment back to top tier members loyalty and in-fact a poor attitude and extremely lacking in customer service on front desk I would say 8/10 times during stay. No milk for L’OR coffee machine only creamer!! No milk for tea in room Poor bathroom amenities no shower cap, no toothbrushes, no razors etc had to ask not great! Housekeeping said they had none … asked at front desk and the Hilton colleague opened a draw full of amenities!!! Making guests go down to reception to beg instead of just providing in room!!! Demonstrates Poor customer service. Then to be told we may not have orange socks or shower caps we may have run out … surely at a top rated brand hotel there is stock take and orders are placed in a timely fashion! Not impressive from Canopy Hilton at all. No orange socks in room, but left bathrobes again poor customer service. No welcome to Canopy Hilton thank you for being a diamond member …. Again poor customer service not recognizing loyalty. No executive lounge - no drinks vouchers given to diamond members as in other Hiltons - seems mean and lacking in customer service. All in all as a diamond member felt a little let down after really looking forward to my trip especially at this brand of Hilton in a great location. Feels run by people who either haven’t been trained adequately, they have no commitment to the Hilton brand or simply just have no idea about hospitality.

|2.01km from city centerMy sister and I stayed here for two nights at the end of our Iceland holiday. Centrally located just a 5-minute walk from the Hallgrimskirkja and a 20-minute stroll from the harbour. I had been a bit worried about parking so I had emailed the hotel in advance to ask and got a very prompt response. It was astoundingly easy to park close by and we got a lovely friendly welcome from the hotel staff; in fact all the staff we met were really friendly and chatty. The room was a reasonable size (initially made up as a double but this was swiftly altered to a twin while we were out whale-watching) and had everything you need (including a fridge). It was a bit stuffy in the room, even with the little window open so we had the room door propped open for a while but, as I think Iceland was experiencing record hot weather at the time perhaps it's not fair to criticise! Our room was on the first floor but we didn't experience any of the noise from the restaurant/bar that some other reviews have mentioned. Would definitely recommend as a good location for a stay in Reykjavik.

|1.19km from city centerI enjoyed my stay at Hotel Cabin very much, largely due to the eager-to-please staff, especially Lenny at the front desk. Rooms are small but quite adequate; I didn't expect to be spending a lot of time in the room except to sleep. (The bed was excellent.) The lobby area is a great [place to congregate and/or meet new people. After a long day of touring the many wonders of Iceland, I was very pleased to come back to the Cabin to relax. My only problem was with the continental breakfast, which was OK but lacked variety. I would definitely stay again, largely due to the terrific staff (Lenny, Bianka, Katya).

|1.48km from city centerCheck-in and check-out instructions were clear. Emails were received promptly prior to our stay. Good location - apartment was easy to find and very close to Laugavegur Shopping Street. Convenience store (Vikivaki, I believe it was called) is just right in front. ”Bonus” grocery store is also nearby (around 5 mins walk). Good base for tours as Bus Stops #9 and #10 are just close by (around 3-5 mins. walk). Apartment was very clean and cozy, with soft comfy beds. Good amount of space to move around. Kitchen essentials were available - pots, pans, dishwashing soap, plates, utensils, spices, coffee machine and pods, tea, spices were available. Bathroom was clean and spacious. Perfect for stays with family (4-5 persons)!

Second, the front desk staff are very good, the breakfast food is also good, the hotel rooms in the downtown area of Iceland are very small, this hotel is not small, and the bathroom has a heating towel rack, convenient for drying. |1.7km from city centerWe had a room on the 4th floor with a balcony, overlooking Laugavegur. Even though it was a Saturday night, we weren’t disturbed by any noise, and the room had a nice view of Hallgrímskirkja. We were pleasantly surprised to be able to check in at 12pm when we went to ask if the hotel could store our bags for a few hours until check in at 3pm. The lack of breakfast was not a problem, as we tend to skip breakfast and do brunch instead. I would stay here again. If you have a hire car, park in the P3 on Skulagata and walk the short distance to the hotel. The lady on the reception was very hospitable.

|2.11km from city centerI think Hotel Holt is a nice boutique hotel with all you need. It’s small but all details and needs are being catered. Hotel management is running it with heart which you can see in many aspects. I think this hotel. We didn’t have the breakfast so can’t comment on it but overall experience is good. The price is a bit pricey but it’s okay as we are in city centre. Well located and just a few minutes walk to the Main Street. And the best overall, they have car park and it’s free….

The hygiene is very good, the room is very warm, in a place like Iceland where the price is high, this hotel is simply great value, the boss is Chinese, the people are very good, patiently answering various questions, gave us a lot of good suggestions, conscience recommendation, will set this hotel next time I go to Iceland.

|2.22km from city centerI traveled to Iceland with my fiance and our toddler and used this as our home base for the week. We really wanted a place with a kitchen and a place for us to hang out after his early bedtime, so this apartment was perfect for that. We were able to make many of our meals in, use the washer dryer (thankfully manuals for all appliances were in one of the kitchen drawers), and hang out in the living room while he slept in the bedroom. The location of this place is great - right on the main street. I agree with the reviews that the provided directions could be a little better. Basically look for the small tunnel next to the IceMart that's right at the bottom of the Rainbow Street and go through it, and there you are! This is not a luxury hotel, as some other reviews seem to have expected, but it's a perfectly serviceable and clean apartment in a great location. Cons: No on-site parking. We had no problems finding free parking by the school near Hallgrimskirja and walking, and we also quickly loaded and unloaded in the parking lot right on premises (which I think is for the restaurant and that's why you can't park there). MINOR concern because I brought my own- The bathroom only had sets of shampoo and conditioner, no body wash. Pros: Self check in was easy and allowed us to check in early in the morning upon arrival (we booked the evening before to ensure we could check in). The location is great. We didn't find it to be too loud, but had brought a small sound machine from home for the baby so that might have something to do with it. We loved having a washer/dryer and dishwasher and small kitchen to use. The shower has GREAT water pressure!!! We loved the clean and bright Kronan grocery store right around the corner. Overall this was a great stay and I would return to this location!

|1.82km from city centerThe hotel is in a prime location. That is the only good thing I can say about it. We arrived at the location, saw the hotel sign but couldn’t find the entrance. Tried calling the hotel and no answer. The sign is above a Vietnamese restaurant. We Walked around to the next street and saw another sign. Followed that to a sign that said reception. It was the back door of the restaurant. We walked inside and asked the cook where the check in desk was for the hotel. He said behind us. We turned around to see a closet with a desk in it. After standing there for about ten minutes we asked if there was anyone to check us in. The cook said he could. Sketchy. He came over asked our names , looked in a log book and said you’re in room 32. Ok. Do we sign anything? Do you need an ID? May we have the key? No just go upstairs. The key is in the door. Then he leaned over the counter and said directly to my wife and I ,” This bad hotel. You shouldn’t stay here”. Great. Never heard that before. My wife is freaking out. We go around to the stairwell and there’s a sign on the elevator. Apparently it was shut down over a year go due to faulty installation. We took the stairs up 3 flights. The key was in the door and other rooms had key’s sticking out. I could’ve opened any room I wanted. No security. The room was musty and filled with flea market furniture. The toilet seat was broken. The cabinet door under the sink was broken. The lamps wouldn’t work. The shower was half the size of an airplane bathroom. We couldn’t use it. My wife refused to take her shoes off to walk on the carpet. Do not stay here.

|3.3km from city centerOn the edge of Reykjavik's pier, this location is very close to the Aurora Center Art Center. There are many restaurants nearby, and it is close to the business center for shopping. However, it may be difficult to find a parking space in the hotel, so I parked on the roadside at the front entrance. The room quality is good, but there is construction in the square outside the window. Although there is no noise, our room type does not have a view. |1.78km from city centerThis was part of a 8 day tour where we spent 4 nights in the hotel. It really was the perfect base for a non-stop, busy trip to Iceland. The location is absolutely perfect - very central to the main tourist spots in Reykjavik but also in a cool, vibrant, modern part of the city itself. The hotel itself is at a great location. We were greeted with warm and friendly smiles. This place is a real gem. The staff is super friendly and eager to help. The room's are also clean and generally in good condition. Very comfortable bed. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Kitchen was great and so handy after our day trips. Staff are very courteous and helpful. Everything was delightful. Staff was professional, courteous and so helpful. We are thankful to Mariko and Tinna who took great care of us during dayshift and María in the nightshift. Through them, I can see the Icelanders quality of being kind, helpful, and honest. There was some confusion with our sight-seeing tour, which obviously made us a bit worried, however, the staff went out of the way out to help us. We felt so comfortable and peaceful there. We stayed 4 nights, but came back and stayed for 2 more nights on our way to UK after visiting AKUREYRI! But the best thing about Leifur Eiriksson is the people who run it. When we got there we were welcomed, given delicious food, and made to feel right at home. Many thanks, if I choose to go to Reykjavik again, I will definitely go to Hotel Leifur Eiriksson

|1.62km from city centerKex… Ugh such a frustrating review to write. I really wanted to like the Kex hostel it has its good points, but overall was the worst hostel stay I have had in Iceland. I’ll give you my very detailed opinion. The Bad… -Lacking in the toilet paper department!!! We were on floor 4 there were several private bathrooms with showers and also separate locker room style bathrooms. At 7:30 AM I ran to the bathroom after finishing my business realized there was no TP! Ugh. Anyway afterwards I looked through the different open stalls with toilets. Only 3 toilets on the whole 4th floor had TP! To me having adequate TP is an essential thing. The bathrooms weren’t restocked until 10AM ish. And we aren’t even in peak tourist season. We mentioned the issue to the staff and they said “just call next time you need something” kinda hard to “just call” when you have already done your business in the bathroom and you need something to wipe with! They need to have staff check the bathrooms more frequently. -The kitchen is sad in the “equipment” department. One of the reasons we stay at hostels is to cook our own food. Maybe they are trying to push buying food from their restaurant. I get that they get a lot of traffic. But the cooking pan selection is -Terrible- nasty old pans that the thrift shop would discard. Janky handles, and interior coating mega gouged out. Don’t come here expecting to cook at least on level 4. -No way to make coffee!!! Again they probably want you to pay for their breakfast. But there is no option to make coffee. No coffee pot, machine, or way to make a filter pour over etc. Don’t bring coffee grounds expecting to make your morning brew. There was an electric kettle, but again no way to make coffee unless you brought instant. -The showers need a good bleach and scrub. The walls had black mold growing on them. Considering the fact that Kex was our most expensive hostel in Iceland (we paid 20,906 for a private double, with linens, and shared bathrooms…or $153 US) compare Kex to the Svjarborg in Stykkisholmer $90 US or Halfdan HI Hostel $63 US ( in both we had a private double & shared bath) but both were awesome and had a fully equipped kitchen with decent quality pots, options to make coffee, and plenty of toilet paper. I understand that being in the city we can expect to pay more. BUT I expect that price to include: -enough toilet paper -a means to make coffee -decent cookware. The good… -The location is great. Easy walking distance to the main shops/streets. And the ocean right across the highway. -Awesome “vibe” cool decor, lots of couches/lounge areas. -Entertaining/Social. In the evening there was group song trivia in the main area, and in another a live band. -Our room a private double with shared bathroom was large, and we slept well. (Note: I have never stayed in a “quiet” hostel so I always travel with a sleep soundtrack on my phone and a melatonin) -The staff was all polite In conclusion, I have traveled on 4 contine
