Staying at the Aventine is perhaps the secret desire of all those who visit Rome. It is one of the places of greater fascination of the entire city and the testimonies of ancient Rome that here are innumerable, acquire animated contours the moment the street lamps are turned on in the evening. In the public square of S. Anselmo, in front of the homonym Benedictine church with convent, the S. Anselmo Hotel is distinguished in all its beauty, a wonderful private villa having pastel colours that as from 1960 has been transformed into an alluring hotel, where elegance, the romantic atmosphere and privacy, guarantee an unforgettable stay. Stepping out of the hotel and walking through the peaceful roads of the hill, passing by the imposing Benedictine Monastery, the famous public square of the Knights of Malta is reached, where Saint Peter's Dome can be admired through the famous keyhole of the Grand Priory of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. Moving on through the striking Garden of Oranges, to finally descend towards the Tevere, many times immortalised in the sunsets etched by Piranesi. The astonishment that is felt in seeing the amplitude of the Circus Maximus and the beauty of the Palatino ruins simply leaves one breathless and encourages you to continue towards the Colosseum and the Arc of Traiano before plunging yourself through Piazza Venezia, amidst the chaos of the Historical Centre. Completely restructured in 2006, it harmoniously complements modernity and antique fascination with a refined and elegant style, which is also unmistakably metropolitan and chic. The furnishings are varied, having a perfect mixture of baroque and contemporary pieces just like the fireplace being made of steel and backlit that contrasts harmoniously with the antique boiserie in wood, mirrors and dated appliqus brought back to splendor, modern steel tables in the breakfast hall together with an antique, gilded candlestick dating from the 800's originating from an old chapel of the

Have stayed several times here in the past few years and continue to appreciate the quiet location, set back from the street so that one hears birds chirping in the morning, not traffic, but the mass booking of student groups does threaten the serenity of the place. Close to Sancta Sabina and San Alesso, two beautiful but under-appreciated churches, also quiet retreats from the busy city below.

We recently sold a studio apartment in Testaccio and this hotel is in the same neighborhood, so we were thrilled to learn about this place when we return to visit family. If you want to spend time "like a local" in Rome, do it here. The hotel offers breakfast at Linari cafe downstairs for a wonderful start to your morning--you'll probably see the same people each day if you go at a similar time! Dine at the restaurants after 8 pm and they will be filled with locals. Go to mass at the church. Hang out at the square. Go to the mercato. Have an apertif in the afternoon. Buy fine foods at Volpetti. Be Italian for a few days. The buses/trams are very convenient unless you cannot walk at all. Reception is staffed in the mornings and they are very helpful if you need to arrange a taxi, need directions, etc. Testaccio is a great place to experience Rome, from a comfortable, quiet, clean room that is a great value for a typical Roman experience in a great and historic neighborhood. FYI--in Rome, it's actually nice to stay somewhere that is not in the center of all the tourist sites.

We went there for a week, my husband had work to do to do in the city so I visited Rome with our 1 and half year old daughter. Great location, if you enjoy walking you can walk to most of the big monuments or place to shop. The station or bus tour stop are really close (10-15 minutes walk). Also, the closest station (Piramid) is attached to everywhere you should go. Fews nice restaurants around 1-5minutes walk from the hotel. There is a great and big market 5 seconds from the hotel named : Mercato Di Testaccio. The furnitures of the room were nice/modern. On the other side, the cleaning wasn’t this great. Under Our foot or my daughter socks kept on going black because of dirty (so they clearly didn’t properly wipe the floor) , under our bed was not clean, they didn’t pick stuff on the floor they just pushed them on the side of the wall and the chairs/table on the balcony could use some cleaning. It wasn’t horrible , it liveable and the bed was super big and comfortable so we closed our eyes on it. Pluss the room had a big fridge , a microwave /oven and some nice cupboards. The breakfast was really basic : boiled eggs, bread , butter, jam, biscuit, fruit, coffee, pastry, cakes, cereal etc.., please don’t expect a full cooked breakfast. The staff was so lovely, welcoming, smiling and really helpful. It was a pleasure for us to be around them. The hospitality they provided was the best part of our journey with them.

This is a great place to stay in Rome. It is not a proper hotel, but an adapted floor inside a residential building. It has a shared kitchen and living room, and a few rooms. You access everything using your personal code in key-pads. The room I stayed-in was very clean, bright, and everything was new and comfortable. Also, very spacious for European standards. You have a small fridge in your room and the kitchen is well equipped. There is no staff on site, but the manager always responded quickly by cellphone message and was friendly and very helpful. The breakfast is served in the coffee shop next door. It is a basic breakfast (beverage and one pastry) but it is delicious, the staff is very friendly and you may complement from their menu. In my opinion, the only negatives were that the hot water in the shower doesn't get really hot and the place is uphill. If you have some mobility problems, that might be something to consider. However, I used Uber-bikes to return to the hotel, and it was only a 2-3 min ride form the metro station. It is well located, Colosseum is probably a 15 min walk and as I mentioned there is a metro station close-by.

Basic rooms, however when you leave in the heart of Rome, you do not need anything more. They were very clean and had cleaning service every day! The room had a safe and big wardrobe, plus a little fridge. The breakfast was delicious and super fresh and the pastries they offer, they were top! The neighbourhood of the hotel is called Trastevere and is walking distance from the Colosseum, the city centre, the Vatican and all the big attractions (approx. 30min walk from everything and considering the delicious food Rome offers, you need to walk!). If you prefer to stay in the neighbourhood, no problem, as it has lots of restaurants and shops around, walking distance 5- 10 mins. Overall, the hotel and location was an excellent value for money.

Termini Central Station
The hotel is a street away from the main road. We are a hotel from the Central Station at about 8 o'clock, which is relatively deserted, but the bright and spacious hotel lobby still gives a good impression. The check-in process was smooth and there were hotel-specific discount cards on the promotional shelves at the front desk. It should be noted that even if the room rate has been prepaid on Ctrip. The front desk will also ask for a credit card for guarantee (CUP available). A city tax of € 6 per person per night is charged at check-out. After checking in, I found several features that make this hotel truly worthy of the name of the hive. The ladder-shaped elevator, the rooms on the same floor are distributed like beehives, outside the balcony are hexagonal patios, honey-flavored shower gels and so on. Fortunately, the size of the room is not as small as a hexagonal honeycomb, and the two large boxes are still more than enough in space. There is also a safe in the room, so you can put valuables when you go out. Slippers were a pleasant surprise. Previously, hotels in the UK, the Netherlands and Switzerland were not available. Being forced to spend nearly one hundred yuan to bring his own slippers is really the consequence of not doing a good job in advance. The towels in the bathroom are placed on a heating rack, which is warm when you take them off. This is really a rare equipment and very intimate. Two regrets are that the first low-floor mobile phone and wifi signal are not particularly good. The second is that I did n’t eat the fried noodles for breakfast like other reviews, it ’s just a classic western breakfast. There are many high-quality Chinese restaurants nearby.

The staff was very kind abd helpful. About 20 minutes busride from the historic city. Beds very comfortable. The only negative thing is that we had to open two taps to get hot water. It's ridiculous that tremendous amount of water was wasted to get a 2 minute shower.

Termini Central Station
The hotel is very close to Rome Central Station, just a three or five minute walk. The room is not big, but it is a good place to live alone. There is a mini refrigerator on the wall, a kettle, tea bags, coffee bags, and a welcome chocolate in the room. There is also a balcony outside the room. In good weather, it should be nice to sit outside and bask in the sun. The bathroom is Italian, with a shower basin in addition to the toilet. The hotel has an old-fashioned elevator, you can experience it before. It took a long time to check out and felt that the front desk was not working efficiently.

Termini Central Station
It was very convenient because it was very close to the train station and within walking distance of the main tourist attractions in Rome. When entering the room, it was a two-story specification and I was impressed by the room with a feeling of openness. Cleaning was perfect and we were able to spend comfortably. At first there was no slippers in the room, but you can get it free if you tell the person at the front desk. Also, when I brought wine into the room and tried to drink it, I was in trouble because there was no corkscrew, but if I told this to the front desk, I was able to have it opened at the bar. Even after check-out, it was very helpful because I kept my luggage for the time to head to the airport.
