We chose this hotel based on the wonderful reviews. We arrived and were not entirely sure how to navigate. It is across the street from a US Military ship, however, the water views were lovely. We were awoken by the US National Anthem ( not sure if this is regular or just happened that morning) Serapo beach was a bit of a walk away in the opposite direction of the lovely old town. Without a car it is the best location as it is about a 10 minute walk to both areas. We opted for the larger room with the balcony view. It was very lovely and I would recommend it. There was a small kitchenette in the room which was surprising, and lovely for a longer stay! Most of the staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fine. I would probably choose to stay here again if I came to Gaeta since I would not have a car.

The hotel looks like a great place, and quite modern. Unfortunately they forgot to teach their staff about customer service. The pool forces guests to wear a swimming cap & charges for them. We tried to switch out our wet towels for dry ones & were told no you only get one towel - deal with it yourselves. Then breakfast the first day we could ask for cappacino the next day they said no coffee only ! Really ? The waiter called my husband a pig and another derogatory name in Italian when he asked if they were going to refil the scrambled eggs after 3 bus loads of people came in. A terrible experience ! On a positive note is is close to a very nice beach. Gaeta is an absolutely charming place to visit but stay somewhere else ! The other irritation is they offer parking at hefty rate & you have to go to the front desk to get let in & out ! So inconvenient! They also charged us more than initially quoted. So not impressed !

Our cousin who is a travel agent suggested this hotel to us for the first week of our trip to Italy. There were a couple of surprises, but overall it was a pleasant stay. The hotel is close to the beach, boasts a friendly staff and provides comfortable rooms. We chose to stay on a mezza-pensione plan, so our dinners were included. As an American, some of the dinner choices were not ones I was thrilled about (rabbit, octopus, etc.!) but there was an abundance of fresh vegetables, salads, fruits and other foods. We didn't starve. The colazione was set in a large room which opened up onto a terrazza overlooking the water. There were plenty of offerings for breakfast, too. There is a pool underneath an enormous clamshell cover, but we only used it once. Bathing caps are required! We were surprised to have to pay extra for a couple of things. We've stayed on these plans before and wine has been included with dinner--it isn't here. But again, we didn't go without! Beer, wine and bottled water are offered for extra. The other thing was that we had to pay a daily rate for beach chairs and an umbrella, which I guess is accepted in many places. However, we were not charged at another hotel we stayed in--our chairs and umbrella came with the room. I would recommend this hotel. The beach is what we went for and where we spent most of our time. The beach staff is helpful and conscientious and we were able to swim, sun and relax in well-tended surroundings.

I was stationed in Gaeta in the eighties when I was with the Sixth Fleet. I decided to come back for a visit with my wife and daughter and we stayed at Il Quartuccio. Absolutely amazing stay! The B & B is on Via Indipendenza, in the old part of town, what we sailors used to call Piccolo Alley! This is as quaint as it gets! The rooms are tiny, but comfortable and extremely clean. The windows and balconies all overlook the Via Indipendenza which is more like a tiny, cobble stoned, winding alley. You are in the heart of Gaeta and are rubbing shoulders with the locals. I love this place. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Parking in Gaeta can be a nightmare, but they have four spots for the hotel which are on a first come first served basis, but the owners will help you with parking permits. Use them. The police are very strict! There are numerous little bars and restaurants nearby as well as grocery, art, and souvenir shopping. I can't wait to come back!

We spent 5 lovely nights here and enjoyed our stay. While the Villa is technically in Gaeta, it is nearer to Formia, both very easily accessible by public transport (bus ticket only €1.50 per journey) and both worth a visit - Gaeta a little more medieval, with a greater choice of restaurants, Formia more contemporary. Re the Villa - Pros: fantastic pool and gardens, the dinner in the pm, while expensive by Italian standards, was very good; lunch was good; room was beautiful (in the Orange house) exceptionally clean - sheets and towels changed daily - very good WiFi and air conditioning; reception staff friendly. Cons: some of the waiting staff a bit dismissive, no lounge or bar area as such, or a residents area to make a cup of tea; not much information about the Villa or the local area in general. If coming by train to Formia-Gaeta, you can get a free shuttle bus (Navetta) from the train station to the bus station, and then the bus to Gaeta which stops right outside the hotel. It's a lovely area to visit, great scenery, and the hotel provides a lovely relaxing base. Would definitely go back.
