Amazing hotel with the perfect location across the street from the beach and a rooftop swimming pool. The rooms are spotlessly clean, spacious and beautiful with very comfortable beds. I've been coming back every summer over the years with my mother who is quite a demanding client...the staff is lovely, patient and always helpful. The hotel restaurant has high standards of food and presentation and the staff is adorable, always very attentive to food allergies which we both have. The breakfast is really varied (the gluten free chocolate cake is delish!) and after all these years we always end up having most of our meals at the hotel restaurant and at the beach restaurant at noon, since we feel it's really the best value for money in town. I highly recommend this hotel and can't wait to get back!

This was a very cute little town! We were looking for a place to stay to be close enough to visit the Cinque Terre but also close enough to be able to get to Milan. I had never heard of this town before but thought, it's Italy it can't be bad. It is just minutes from the Cinque Terre and we were able to do a day trip there and still able to spend time relaxing in the water back at the hotel in the sea. I found this hotel through tripadvisor but was a bit worried because you cannot book a room through their website. It sends you to booking.com. There weren't many current reviews on tripadvisor so I was skeptical. But after continuing to check and checking it's location on google maps I decided to give it a shot. It turned out to be a great room and great hotel. The location is right on the water. We were on there 2 nights and were saving money so didn't get a sea view (which we regret) but really got the same view at breakfast and from the outside lounge. I am pretty sure it is the only hotel that is on the side of the road of the sea. Most others are across the road. The hotel is close enough to the train station that we walked but I am sure a taxi ride would not be too expensive if you needed to ride. We walked each time. The town is not too big and we walked everywhere. Our room was not too big but just fine for the two of us. It was unseasonably hot in all of Europe the 2 weeks we were there and the A/C could not keep up. I'm sure that was the case everywhere and nothing could be done about it. The building had once been a theater? so there was a big open two story space, and they hosted a dance class one night. Our room was off of that area and they played ballroom music during the lesson. But they BLASTED it. Like absurdly loud. They were just dancing and it could have been about half that loud and been effective for the dancers. It wasn't that long but it was annoying and inconsiderate. Their breakfast was a very nice spread. It was served in a restaurant that was indoor-outdoor seating. We were the only ones there one morning and sat right at the railing for a sea view. It overlooked all of the beach seating area that is included with the hotel stay. There was a small concession stand outside of the hotel that sold drinks, chips, pastries, hotdogs, snacks. There are plenty of restaurants in the area. My son ate tons of seafood in this town and the Cinque Terre. Included in the room are 2 chairs and an umbrella at the beach in front of the hotel. The front desk will give you towels. I don't know how you get access if you aren't staying in a hotel. You maybe have to rent a chair? But we used it one afternoon and it was outstanding in the heat. The water is nice and there is a lifeguard. He also kept after rowdy kids whose parents seemed to have disappeared. There are paddle boats that the hotel owns that you can take out. This is a very nice hotel and we will stay here again if we are able to return. This was a super town and a

We stayed here for 1 night 03-06-2018. I fit Aircon for a living and noticed when we arrived it was turned off, on questioning reception they said it comes on at 1pm, my partner and myself woke up at 3am sweating and very uncomfortable, I noticed again the Aircon was turned off. When asked at 3am why the Aircon was off reception replied 'technical issues' this was not correct simply the hotel trying to save money. We were adviced simply to open the window which we did now so many mosquito bites!! Very bad stay!!!

Very basic, if not primitive, resembling a youth hostel. Saved by Chinese owner (yes he is friendly and helpful, despite his origins). Within walking distance to town Centre. Rooms small (recommend to take three bed room for two if you stay longer).

This hotel and surrounding gardens is an excellent spot to enjoy Italian hospitality, decor and natural surroundings. A converted Genovese fortress, the hotel is restored with impressive period details, a truly grand central stairwell, striking views of the sea from high atop the resort city of Sestri Levante which is served by private elevators. The staff was very helpful overcoming the inevitable travel disruptions. A short 20-min walk to the train station puts the visitor in easy commute to the Cinque Terre towns of Monterosso, Vernazza and Manarola. Rooms are small, a quirky interior elevator and AC a bit wanting but overall an impressive hotel.

This is THE place to stay in Sestri Levante. Without doubt the best hotel in the resort and possibly one of the best four star hotels in Italy for its location alone. We did not stay in the hotel but had only the pleasure of dining in the restaurant a couple of times. However we were shown a selection of guest rooms by Paola, a charming lady in management. We were most impressed. Ultra modern in style and décor but beautifully presented and all with walk-in wardrobes and of course great views. As for the restaurant it is worth the visit for the spectacular views alone.Floor to ceiling windows provide a panoramic view of the town and coast and beyond towards Santa Margareta and Portofino. On our evening visits we were blessed with wonderful sunsets which made it even more special. We could not fault the food and service. Perhaps a little pricey but not overly so and many of the restaurants in town are similarly priced but do not have the ambience , level of comfort or those superb views. Our only regret is that we did not know about this hotel when we booked our stay in Sestri Levante but hope to come back sometime and spend time in this great hotel..r O

First time we picked this hotel for the location. From the entrance to the hotel you just need to walk 35 steps to get to the small and fascinating beach at ‘Silence Bay’. However, we found the hotel a wonderful place to spend you time, when you’re not going to the beach or sitting at one of the great restaurants nearby. The atmosphere is warm and really welcoming. The staff - being Cristina and her colleagues during the day or Andrea taking the night shift, are helpful in so many ways - and always with a smile. You, as a costumer, is first priority - something other hotels doesn’t always quite get. The decor is old fashioned but nice, the rooms we’ve stayed in are spacious with minibar and the pool area is great - with sun from early morning to late afternoon. This was our third stay - wouldn’t change it for the world when visiting Sestri Levante. Hotel Due Mari is a big part of why we come back to this seaside town and why we like to visit it.

This hotel really made my trip to Italy complete. It is a gorgeous villa with a cute pool, flowers everywhere and lemon trees. What set this apart though, was the service. We had a few mishaps during our stay (getting stranded in town - taxis don't run at night), flooding the bathroom etc. and the man at the front desk (I regret not getting his name) was so helpful, kind and accommodating. The Villa is set apart from town, but we liked having a retreat. It was about a 10-20 Euro trip into town (depending on the availability of taxis). The breakfast was lovely - it's not the meager continental breakfast you're used to. They even give you a small parting gift when you check out. Such nice little touches really made a difference.

The hotel was recommended by my parents who have stayed there several times a number of years ago. The location is great and the beach very well run. Unfortunately they are the only positives from our experience. The service was appalling with no welcome or introduction to the hotel and services on arrival - we were merely handed the room key and asked to hand over the car key to be parked. The website states that suites are allocated 2 beach beds. When I asked at reception I was told we were unlikely to get a space at the beach as they were very busy. The beach had been the deciding factor in choosing the hotel over others in the town so we were very disappointed. On arrival at the beach we were very fortunate to be allocated 2 beds near the sea which we were delighted with. The manger confirmed these were included in the room rate as we were staying in a suite. However when we were handed the bill at checkout we had been charged 180€ for the 6 days on the beach. When I challenged this and recounted what the beach manger had told us I was told this was not possible because we hadn’t booked directly with the hotel. At no point in the 8 days we stayed at the hotel and used the beach were we advised of this and the reception staff were extremely reticent to budge from this position. After 30 minutes of waiting they agreed to a 50 discount on the beach charge. The breakfast service was disappointing and we were repeatedly ignored by staff when we attempted to order coffee. I completely understand and welcome the fact that due to Covid the hotel have had to change their processes which would explain the lengthy queues however the overall rudeness of the staff was disappointing (the exception being the young waiter serving breakfast who was extremely friendly and helpful!) Equally my previous experience in Italian hotels is that they are meticulously clean. However this was not so at the Balbi. The bathroom sink was not cleaned and we were repeatedly left with 3 towels for 4 people. Again perhaps me this is as a result of Covid. The room had very little storage to unpack clothes with no drawers at all in the children’s room. The WIFI was intermittent at best. We were very excited to stay at the hotel and extremely appreciative to be able to get away this year due to Covid, acknowledging that service could be impacted, however this is an expensive hotel with an exceptional reputation so we were very disappointed with our experience. I would not recommend.
