|0.02km from city centerWe have stayed in many hotels around the world, but from the moment you enter the Metropole Hotel in Taormina, you realize you are going to undergo a unique experience. It is almost like visiting a large family in their magnificent estate overlooking the ocean on one side, and in the center of “movie set” Taormina on the other. This family warmly caters to your every need, and within their estate you have every possible facility you could desire. The rooms (several types, sea view and city view, but get sea view if you can) are spacious and comfortable. Marcello (the manager) assisted so ably and warmly by Santino, cannot do enough to guide you and help you enjoy their beautiful city. David, Maria and the other bar/restaurant staff are there when you want them, but leave you to enjoy the incredible view from the bar and restaurant in comfort. There is an infinity pool that is wonderfully refreshing, and has both open and shaded loungers to enjoy a restful break. The food in either the bar or restaurant is first class - best Niçoise salad I’ve ever had! When you visit Sicily, if your only splurge on one hotel, make it the Metropole in Taormina - it’s worth it!

Incredible staff From the moment, I first contacted this hotel with my many questions until we checked out, the patience, service and warmth of Cristian and Sara was incredible! Crisitan even saved a special side trip I planned for my daughter’s birthday. He was always available! A special thank you to Crisitian for helping us out. Perfect location We stayed in the Green Palm apartment. It’s a few steps away from the main square but nestled in a tiny street so it’s quiet. There is a nearby supermarket and even a washeteria a few steps away. The washeteria offers self-service or pay a little extra and they will wash your clothes. They even delivered it to the hotel as a courtesy. Cleanliness – 5 star ++ experience! I am very picky about hotel cleanliness, and this hotel was spotless! Simona, the housekeeper, ensured that the apartment was perfect every day. Daily housekeeping was such a plus for us during our extended stay! Simona worked with such pleasure and from the heart. She became a friend. Furniture-Like one reviewer, this apartment is decorated to a high modern standard furnishing. Super high quality and new. I loved the feel of the apartment. Lastly, I had the pleasure of meeting the owner of La Malandrina. He invited us to his beautiful lounge bar and was incredibly hospitable. Such a nice gesture! Bottom line – DO NOT hesitate! This hotel is one of the best I’ve stayed at with my family and we are experienced international travelers. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure the highest level of service.

|1.45km from city centerWe really enjoyed our stay here. Some of the negative comments are unbelievable. Before going to the Taormina area, you have to appreciate that there are two parts. The old town of Taormina is up on a mountain, the part by the sea is Mazzaro. The hotel is in Mazzaro. Taormina itself gets very busy and fairly expensive but nothing can take away from the charm of the place and it's great in the evening. I have been several times but my wife never. Especially if you do want some beach, Mazzaro is the better bet to stay. The Ipanema is ideally located near the funicular to get into town and close to the beautiful Isola Bella. Free but crowded beach. We had a warm welcome and our room was on the 3rd floor with a little balcony and a fabulous view of the bay. Yes the hotel is near the road but set back and in the evening is really peaceful. The aircon worked so well we had to turn it right down! Ample wardrobe space for two with a huge quantity of hangers. Lovely bath/shower in a nice sized bathroom. The bed was really comfortable and was impeccably made every day and the sheets seemed to be changed often. We had an issue with no signal on the modern TV but the hotel promptly put that right. We had a fridge but it more stopped cooled drinks from getting warm rather than cooling them. Apparently it was a remnant of a mini bar which they are withdrawing. I do hope they keep the fridges going. On the 5th floor there is a roof top solarium (baking) and up some steps a pleasant pool but limited lounging space. It would be nice though if they replaced a couple of the tiles on the side of and in the pool. There is a lovely courtyard outside with comfortable seating to have an after dinner drink from the reasonable bar. The hotel also has its own paid for (inc shuttle bus) private beach club with loungers very pleasant pool, tennis court and a snack bar. The restaurant was closed. There is also an underground car park. The food in the hotel was amazing. Always a choice of 4 starters always a Sicilian pasta dish (huge), risotto or a soup. Choice of mains different every day, fish or meat with vegetables. Oddly they always had an 'English' type dish like egg and chips. (Why in this day and age). The desserts were on a big table, a sort of cake (actually mousse like) water melon (wonderful) fresh fruit salad and I think a sort of creme caramel. Sometimes there were two 'cakes'; it changed every day. One evening they had Connoli and we made the big mistake of not choosing that as we thought it was cream. No. It's a typical Sicilian Patisserie stuffed with sweet ricotta. Sublime. My Sicilian friend ordered some little ones in a restaurant. On Saturday they had a gigantic buffet. Absolutely enormous. The staff are all lovely. The waiters are trained to a high standard and are really friendly. We watched fascinated while Vincenzo or Mario took an entire fish and filleted it in front of us. |0.6km from city centerWe’ve been to Taormina on two previous occasions, stopping at the nearby Ariston Hotel both times. No complaints about the Ariston. However, due to matters financial, we switched to the TPH, which was a bit of a gamble. This could have gone all wrong……but it didn’t. We loved it! If you’ve read some of the other reviews, you’ll get the picture quite well, the TPH could use a good decorater, however, it’s cosmetic, and caused us no problems at all. The hotel is smaller and quieter than the Ariston , and has an olde worlde charm, with its marble staircase, inlaid doors, chandeliers and furniture from a bye gone era. The pool area, although busy at times, was quiet and well run by the staff, a great place to enjoy the Sicilian sun, and cool off! The breakfasts were taken by the pool, nice touch, and there was plenty of variety on offer and we really enjoyed that. The view from there, and our second floor balcony, was unbeatable. The wifi in our room worked fine, all the time. However, the massive selling point that really made our time there so marvellous, was none of the above; it was the staff! From the quietly confident and helpful desk staff, to the welcoming and engaging catering/breakfast/pool bar staff, the maintenance man, to the room cleaners, they were awesome! If you need a place in Taormina that is central, clean, with great views, great food and fantastic staff, I have no hesitation in recommending theTaormina Park Hotel. Just don’t book it during the first two weeks of July, ‘cause we’re going back next year! Bravo TPH, you were amazing 🤩

Great location, very conveniently located close (walking distance) to the key highlights of Taormina, shops and the upper entrance of the cable car. Staff was attentive and friendly willing to share information and highlights about the area. Whenever we asked for assistance it was happily provided. The room we got was spacious and comfortable. There is a public parking adjacent to the hotel but if you want a private one to guarantee a spot, the hotel can easily arrange. Even though the breakfast is basic, its tasty. Would have preferred a bathroom with a natural ventilation but that did not affect our stay at all.

The location of the hotel is very good, just walk around the town to eat and walk. The balcony of the room faces the street view and you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of TAORMINA every morning. The hotel staff is also very enthusiastic and will assist with various issues. The next visit will definitely stay at this hotel again.

From the moment we checked in, nothing was too much trouble. The room was absolutely spotless and the location was just perfect right on the Corso Umberto a beautiful street with all the main sites and restaurants a stone's throw away. The venue is small and peaceful and a welcome break from the bustle in Taormina. We were able to connect with Rohid easily via Whatsapp with any questions about Taormina and he shared a fantastic list of restaurants and sites to see.

|0.53km from city centerHighly recommend Hotel Villa Ducale - we just stayed there earlier this week and we are already planning when we can return for another stay... The staff is amazing! No request too small and they will try to accommodate. When we drove up the hill to the hotel, we were floored by its beauty, and we immediately asked to extend our stay another night. To accomodate the additional night without changing rooms, the hotel manager asked if we would like to have a look at one of the suites across the street and we were thrilled to stay in Suite #5. We enjoyed stunning views from our terrace of Messina Bay area and the ”boot” of Sicily. The furniture in the suite was very comfortable, and we found it to be peaceful to sleep at night. I woke up early one morning and enjoyed the amazing sunrise from our terrace. The views are stunning from every corner of the hotel, which was designed so the guests can easily relax and enjoy the surroundings. We ordered drinks on the terrace near the restaurant for happy hour each evening to enjoy the sunset. Francesco was often our gracious host for happy hour, and helpful with tourist info and questions. We had dinner the first night we checked in and our meal was spectacular! The hotel does offer free shuttle to Taormina, which we used. However, it is easy to get a taxi in Taormina and not a significant expense so you can enjoy yourself on your own schedule. We enjoyed the small pool each afternoon to cool off, after exploring the area. The morning we checked out, breakfast was over- however, the staff graciously extended the buffet so our family could enjoy our last meal overlooking Taormina. We loved this wonderful hotel, the staff, the food, the views and the suite was amazing. We hope to return soon, and highly recommend Hotel Villa Ducale!!!

|0.8km from city centerWe had a last minute change with my husband and my father (52, and 83) to Taormina and so it was a challenge with very little prep time where to stay in a vertical place with my elderly father who is in good shape but challenged by long walks, inclines and extreme heat. We did it all-- close to the bus station (4 minutes), Corso Umberto (8 minutes), the Antico Teatrico and the view cannot be beat. There's souvenir shops and a mini mart within 4 minutes walk and the cable car is also only 5 minutes away. My husband and I enjoyed the pool and the views. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast the next morning before leaving. No one could be more helpful or nicer in this hotel.
CONS: It's a steep driveway to climb up and down for the elderly. Watching my dad in either direction was a little dicey and with his blood thinners I did not want him to take a spill.
PROS: Everything else.

Yes, the rooms are tired , outdated, shower is ridiculously small, pillows are lumpy,however, what more than makes up for that is first class customer service, views and yes views again. Cleanliness,really good. Pool area, well again probably due an update but again fantastic views. Thank you everyone who made my holiday so fabulous. I have been to Sicily a few times before, and especially loved it this time due to the unique setting. Unless I wanted to explore the east side of Sicily on my next visit I would definitely book this hotel again. Solo travelling and not put out the back, single room with balcony and sea views

This property is an older vintage hotel with a family history. But like everything in Taormina, there are stairs to navigate. (An elevator is currently under construction.) We had an amazing room (#24) with a full terrace overlooking the gorgeous gardens and stunning sea. The room and the whole property is full of vintage and classic furniture, art and ceramics. As in any older building the walls are thin; some other guests could be more considerate. You can walk to the main area of Taormina in just a few minutes - but again, the whole town is nothing but stairs! We left the car in the hotel parking lot for our whole 3 day visit. We walked everywhere including to restaurants. For a tour of Mt. Etna the company picks us up at the road. Just make sure the town gondola is 'in season' if you want to go down to the beach without driving - it was still closed for the winter in the first week of April. We found the staff very helpful and friendly - especially Sebastiano who handles the extensive breakfast offerings with covid protocols. There are both hot and cold offerings. It is all very good.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. I splurged and got a balcony view double room and the view was amazing. Large spacious room and bath with a balcony that overlooked the bay. Friendly reception check-in and personal transfer to our room - a good size, clean with a large balcony with a perfect sea view (across to Italy in the very distance!). The Hotel has its own private beach with sunbeds, umbrellas, towels and life guards. A large terrace area offered a breakfast spread with plenty of fruit, pastries and both hot & cold items. Very good evening menu with excellent waiting service from Raymond, Francesco, Ignazio and colleagues - the manager Giuseppe even gave us a bottle of bubbly to celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary. Well done. Reception organised a quick taxi service up to Taormina centre to save a climb!

We came over from England and had a Civil Ceremony at the Palazzo Di Santo Stefano, which was beautiful. Us and all of our guests stayed at the Hotel and they were absolutely fantastic for the entire duration of our 5 night stay and made our Wedding Reception perfect for us! From the moment we arrived, Gerhard, Christine, Claudia and all of the staff made us feel extremely welcome, at ease, and so special as they understood how big a trip this was for us! They worked alongside us to ensure we had the best possible Wedding; we had a drinks reception, live music and canapes in their lovely, secluded garden, then a delicious Sicilian wedding dinner, drinks and dancing with a DJ on the roof terrace - which they made look really stunning!! Ours was their biggest event so far this year with 40 weddings guests and they seemed so proud and happy to be hosting; nothing was stressful for us and they were natural hosts. On every aspect, Gerhard, Claudia and the team went over and above! The level of service from all of the staff is exceptional, and the hotel has retained such a lovely warm, traditional, family feel. We had one of the top floor suites with a balcony and sun loungers, it was a comfortable, fantastic room with an excellent sea view! I can highly recommend the Hotel Villa Schuler for both a Holiday and a Wedding - we definitely made the right decision : ) I cannot fault anything. All of our families and friends loved the hotel and everything about the Wedding and many want to return. Myself and my husband are going to revisit to celebrate our first anniversary in August 2023 and we can't wait!! Thank you to everybody involved and we look forward to seeing you again.

|0.29km from city centerSadly, excluding a wonderful lady behind reception & a lovely cleaner, this hotel at best is a 2 star hotel. Our experience has just been horrific, and I feel it only fair to share our true honest happenings. We arrived and were upgraded to a larger room. Greatly appreciated. We asked for directions to the pool, which may I point out is NOT part of the hotel, it’s a lido on the beach only reachable by a 15/20 minute shuttle bus. So the advertising of this hotel having a pool onsite is very far from the truth. I filtered swimming pool & free cancellation & there is NO swimming pool. So please do not expect one. The hotel room was warn out & needed some tlc. The curtain rail fell and landed on my head on the first afternoon, and was left on the floor for our entire stay. No attempt to fix it for us. The shower cubicle doors would not open or close easily. In fact I’d shower with them open and put towels all over the floor so I didn’t create a huge mess. Sadly on our third day in the hotel, my partner showered & the cubicle door shattered all over him. Glass absolutely everywhere. In his feet on his legs and he was bleeding too. He has scratches left on his legs and glass was still in his feet. The cleaner in shock rushed in, and a gave my partner flip flops as you could barely see any floor without shattered glass. Between the cleaner and a staff member, they cleaned the mess as if it had never happened. And we were expected to continue our day. A lady behind reception offered us a small room which we declined, as worryingly it felt also in need of some help. We continued our stay, as Taormina is full right now and left the hotel today at 12pm. Our departure was nothing short of horrifying, we arrived at reception greeted by the grandson of the owner rudely & aggressively pointing at us, surrounding us by three further Italian men, we have been told are police to ensure we pay for our damages. We did immediately as felt somewhat threatened & forced, and it wasn’t until the police heard the whole story, that they agreed this was unacceptable behaviour from the hotel & an extremely aggressive way to treat two individuals. They apologised repeatedly but we had paid the hotel & were left without any choice. The police did all they could and eventually got us a 50% refund in the damages cost. Sadly it hasn’t actually been refunded.

If anyone is coming from Catania , the bus is actually the most affordable way, only 5 euros and conveniently there is a bus stop right outside the hotel, literally! Also the airport bus goes direct, so do that if you want to save 100 euros in cab fare 😊. The moment I arrived for checkout Aji greeted me and checked me in swiftly , took my bags and offered me a nice welcoming drink at their rooftop restaurant. Aji was an amazing staff member, he looked after me and gave me so much useful advice, booked all my restaurants & beach access (highly recommend visiting the Belmond Santandrea beach if you can it is well worth it), and overall one of the nicest person you would come across, can’t say enough good things about him! Also the young lady on the front desk was a delight to speak to, she managed the social media and was such a kind person, always taking time to chat with me and keep me informed, a real pleasure to interact with! Now for the actual room, it was spacious with spectacular views over the sea and it even had two balconies, it got the most beautiful sunrise views I have seen in quite some time (attached in the pics to this review). The room was large with a nice long sofa looking out onto the sea and it had a classic modern feel, with a comfortable well equipped bathroom, and I had a great peaceful sleep there. For me the best part of the hotel was the roof top bar and restaurant , it was stunning, very chic and the views are unparalleled, I don’t think it can get much better. The breakfast was so delicious there every morning and never felt crowded , the mini cannoli’s are to die for! The service staff there were so friendly and warm, smiling always and genuinely happy to help you, you could see they loved working there, which is rare! The property had lovely gardens with beautiful flowers and plants everywhere, and a pool which was refreshing but I didn’t use it much as I was out and about most of the time. The proximity to the main town center is great, just 10 mins walk to the hotel which keeps things quiet, yet very accessible. If you are looking for a top notch boutique hotel experience with impeccable service then I would highly recommend staying here, can’t wait to come back!

Like every touristic top destinations also in Taormina the amount of hotels and B&B it’s simply impressive and the quality of the service is not always comparable to the hotel rates. I found this hotel a great compromise between reasonable price, nice bedrooms, great location and stunning view. What makes a difference in my opinion tho is the front desk staff together with their colleagues of the breakfast team and all the other friendly and serious pro I met during my stay in this hotel. As a skilled traveller and tour operator with thousands night spent in hotels in the last 25 years I’d say that there are few minor details I’d change or fine tune to be a full 4 stars but a big shoutout to Annalisa, Giovanni, Nicoletta and all the other top staff members - sorry guys I don’t remember all the names but you were all at the top. I found Annalisa and the colleagues very professional, kind, ready to give the right suggestions, expert and always friendly. Splendid view of volcano Etna from our room, wonderful natural surroundings, excellent hospital staff and services, tasty Sicilian food and wines, luxury hotel rooms and spa, comfortable beds and pillows etc. Whoa, there are too many, they are all so kind and friendly, I will list all of their names below: Enzo (great sense of humor and welcomed us upon arrival); Orlando (sing like Pavarotti and entertainment master); Daniel (shy but work like pro); Antonio (artist name Tony Zano who raps and released 3 albums with 22 tracks, true master); Gisappi (Bartender with glasses, also a great teacher of making cocktails); Kristina (very kind and friendly with lovely smiles); David (humble waiter at restaurant, from Tuscany); Valentina (Wonderful Chinese speaking and sweet); Ricardo, Roberto (always smiling and helpful with carrying stuff); Margarita (amazing events planner and great photographer); Luca, Giovanni (excellent shuttle driver who loves cars); Matia (doorman who appreciates piano and music). The only fly in the ointment is that the facilities and room types are slightly flawed, but as a century-old hotel, I am already very satisfied. Generally speaking, it is highly recommended!

|0.51km from city centerGreta is absolutely lovely, we had the loveliest room with stunning views of the town and mt etna. Obviously it’s on a hill…. It’s the slope of a volcano!! The walk down to the town is really straightforward and you can either walk back up or there’s a taxi rank by the excelsior hotel if you don’t fancy it. The staff were all really pleasant and the breakfast was great, plus if you’re driving you can find somewhere to park because you’re just a little above the town. I’d absolutely stay there again, some of the previous reviews are totally unfair…. Sicily is amazing and Greta is spotlessly clean and a really great place to stay, I thoroughly recommend it.

No matter which room you stay in, there is no 360-degree sea view Room, balcony view can refer to the picture below, I think the view is very good; in the end, in fact, there is no saying that the Chinese are arranged in a room with a poor view, because my left side (closer to the mountain side is disadvantageous) Location) Two people live in Italy. |1.44km from city centerThe location of the hotel is absolutely unbeatable, with the views over the bay just making it feel quite magical, especially for sunrise or sunset. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was useful that there was onsite parking, though there was an extra fee for this. The breakfast was outstanding, especially by Italian standards, but really a very good range of breakfast options and out on the balcony with a gorgeous view over the bay. On the down side, The bedroom was small and the bathroom was really tiny. One morning there was no water pressure at all in the shower, which was annoying, but this was resolved the following day. However the size of the bathroom was really not very good, we thought - it was quite difficult to take a shower comfortably in such a narrow cubicle. That said, I think we got the smallest room in the place, as we were only there for two nights, and other rooms seemed to be larger, so it is worth asking for a larger room! The restaurant at the hotel (for lunch and dinner) was ok, but nothing special in my opinion, food-wise. The breakfast was definitely the best in terms of food. However, overall, I would still definitely recommend this place, as it was so well located and the views just so beautiful, as well as the person on reception being very helpful. Also only a 5 minute walk to the cable car up to Taormina, which was a really fun experience in itself and afforded some amazing views on the way up!

Siamo stati accolti dalla signorina Eva che dopo un buon latte di mandorla offerto gentilmente, ci ha illustrato con dovizia di particolari tutte ,ma dico tutte,le parti più belle da visitare di Taormina comprese conferenze e iniziative varie. La struttura è un po' vecchiotta ma pulita. Il personale è attento ad ogni esigenza: Lo scarico del bagno non funzionava e prontamente sono intervenuti! Si è allagato il bagno per una perdita e sono prontamente intervenuti! Il televisore non funzionava e sono prontamente inter enuti! La colazione ottima e abbondante. Grazie di tutto!!!

|1.43km from city centerHello there all, In the summer i visited this hotel with my girlfriend. This hotel is truly a sweet one! When we got there it looked nice and clean. Very well maintained. When we were checking in to get a room, we were being helped by very kind people. We got a room on the third floor with a view at the garden. The room was nice. It had aircondioning, bathtub/shower, television and a nice 2 person bed. The view on the garden was also nice, with lots of crickets. So lovely. I was very happy and satisfied with the room. It looked good, had a nice view and it was clean. My gf however really wanted a room with sea view, and conviced me to ask for a room with sea view. So we went back to the receptionist ladies to ask them. In the back of my head i kind of expected them just to say: nope sorry! But when we asked they were actually trying really hard to find a room for us! So nice of them. After they did some talking and stuff they said to follow to another room. Well it was a big surprise for me! We got a room with a very nice sea view. We had a big balcony too with 2 chairs and a nice table. Super romantic it was! Everything looked super tight and clean. Also it was a bright room. So we were super happy and ready for our vacation. We booked with brekky in the morning so we could have some nice food in our tummy to start the day. The breakfast was from 7:30 to 10:00. The restaurant in the hotel looked really good! Also the personnel was so fast! And the food! Oh my god the food was so good. They had 3 different foodstyles, which was a very pleasent experience for the tummy. Everything was fresh, from fruit to meat, everything was good! The servants were kind and helpfull. Especially Allessandro, he was the best with his super positive vibes! For information to what to do and where to go, we went to the reception, and the people would help us kindly. They give good tips too. To make it short everyone was very helpfull. The hotel is in a pretty good position. It is 200 meters away from the gondeler ( that skilift type thing) that will bring you up the mountain where the city centre is. It will only take 2 mins. Also the hotel is very close to the beach. The entrance of the hotel is wheelchair friendly. They have an elevator and everything is very wide. The swimmimg pool was very nice too. Altough i never swam in it, it looked very inviting to me. I read some reviews about this hotel, but i cannot understand that some of them are so negative. The hotel is a very charming place that gives you a real nice italian experience on your vacation. On the last day we had to leave very early at 5 in the morning and guess who was waiting for us to say goodbye. Yes it was Allessandro!!! He also even gave us a small foodback with yogurt and bread, ham and cheese and stuff for on the way. He came an hour before his starting time to.say goodbye. This man is the kindest of all! OK if we talk about exclusive things we know that prices are high. but I'm sorry, I've noticed more defects and no clarity... than anything else. First, it was unclear, booking the private bathroom (I come to know when I arrive at a place that is not heated) so I think it was right to tell me in time or at least write it on the site, in order that the customer can choose other choices (in fact, the water was very cold). Second, the owner briefly explains the functionalities of the apartment from outside the house (because on the ground he was still a little wet by the cleaning carried out) And how I wanted to prove... at last the defects came out as fungi, cleaning not well and up to the bottom, the defected shower arm, 2 unused coffee machines (maybe it needed a license), some lights taken in my opinion (to be safe) And so many other details to take on that we don't mention otherwise we exaggerate! But sweet in the depth..... , at 20:00 I realize the bath has the hydromassage that doesn't go (in addition to being very cold) and think I had booked specifically for this to make a birthday surprise to my companion (of course disappeared!) However, I notice the owner of the defect, you answer me... I'm trying to get the maintenance and fix, moral: no one came to fix anything, no one excused anything, no one contacted me, And I and my companion at last couldn't even use the famous water massage bath!!!
