      This is what I sent the hotel and not 1 member of staff responded … I am contacting you as I am still reeling from the disaster that was my stay at the Riverside Hotel on Sunday 1st May… Upon arrival we were directed to our room being 151 to find we were in a family room with 3 beds not what you would expect to find when on a romantic night away for our anniversary we had absolutely no privacy for people walking their dogs by our window so close we could have reached our and shook hands with them and there forever barking dogs.. The only option we had was to draw the very heavy black out curtains so sat in darkness having to put on every lamp and light that was in the room I think a sheer net is most definitely needed on your windows. The floor was not hoovered and covered in crumbs or some such thing the bathroom floor had hairs on it, we had to ask for toilet roll as there was none left in our room.. The room phone had coffee spilled inside the receiver and was all sticky. The standard of hygiene was not good at all. I requested a bucket of ice at the reception at 5.10pm and had to call again for it at 5.30pm then at 6pm to which I was advised there was a wedding in the hotel and the bar was very busy this should not affect the service that as a paying guest I received but it did. The bar guy finally brought the ice and I had to ask him to get us toilet rolls as these had still not arrived yet either from 5pm. It would also be helpful if there was something in the room advising how to contact reception etc and for room service .. The food in the restaurant was average my husband ordered the cheese selection after his meal to which he got 3 small bits of cheese no grapes it was a shabby offering to say the least, the blonde girl in the restaurant was however very nice and attentive. There was a bowling party of older gents that sat in the foyer all night and it was just a drunken rabble taking over the place so no seats available for other guests. The corridors were noisy from 6am in the morning the housekeeping staff should really be more considerate of sleeping guests. We went to breakfast and had to wait 15 minutes at the fish pond for a table the hot food was all but gone and there were no pastries at all “not much of a continental offering” I left having nothing to eat only a cold cup off tea. There was a gentleman sitting next to us at the window that cursed at the top of his voice because there was no bacon left the breakfast staff heard this cursing and said absolutely nothing it was a very intimidating experience I am shocked this was going on as there were also children nearby. All in all I have never left a hotel so upset and unrested in my life it was our 20th wedding anniversary and we had a terrible night I don’t find this to be at all acceptable the receptionist did ask us on our way out if we enjoyed our stay to which we said yes just to get out of there. I booked this on an Itison deal and that should in no way have
