This property has an affiliation with A**y Rooms which advertised giving you a pleasant experience of staying. Some of it were true, some of it not. Thus, I booked here under the name 'A**y Ungasan Raya Gua Gong 257 Bali' for you not to be mistaken because both names represent one property. Business thingy was the reason for staying here and to experience something different, I chose this budget hotel (or kostel?). Kind of cliche. What I mean is, to avoid over budget at the end of the month, this place was the only I could afford. Okay, I scrolled down the web page, and see the picts of the property. Yeah not bad. And then I read the review at the website next door. Well, good enough. But when I got there... The staffs, the woman and the man couldn't find my booking! It took some time, and me being impatient because I checked in late. I was exhausted and I would want a shower and a sleep. They said the laptop was slow. Non of my problem! Then they have to call someone over there to clarify my booking. They also asked me to show my booking ID, and I got 2 email. One from A**y, one from T*******a, then they said how could you get two emails? Hello?! I didn't know! I didn't even ask for 2 emails whatsoever. That's their responsibility to make my stay wonderful. Finally, it was all settled and the woman took me to the room. Oh, they spoke loudly. I don't even remember they said sorry or not. The tone was harsh. I know where they from. But owner, please educate your staff!!! Hot water excellent, toilet average (no toilet paper), toilet amenities excellent, cleanliness excellent, the welcome snack excellent, bed excellent, TV excellent. Ok. Then, I decided to have dinner. The price list for fried noodle with egg is 12K. So, I ordered double fried noodle no egg. And it was 20K. WOW! AMAZING! VERY SMART! You, and you and you, buy something outside! Order food from outside! Buy something downhill! Don't even bother. And I found out, this place also a boarding house, not only for short-stay, but also for long-stay. One more thing I disliked was that the fact that the hallway has echoes. I slept on ground level near the lobby. And those staffs, they spoke very loud even at late of night. Sh**! I will not comeback.

Reasonable price for such level of service. The territory and rooms are simple enough. We had a small accomodation with our own bathroom. But hot water was available during the whole time we were staying there. There is a common kitchen where you can cook something to eat. On the one hand Merta Nadi homestay is close to the main road, but on the other hand it's very quiet there. At last the diamont of this guesthouse is Paco who is the host. Paco is freindly, helpful, cheerful guy. He told us plenty of interesting places to visit, gave us several pieces of advice such as visiting local market, good warungs, sunset points, beaches and etc.

Stayed there for 3 nights. I’m a solo traveler and was expecting somewhere I could meet people and book trips, but got there and realised how quiet it was. So I just took in the spirit of it and enjoyed how it was. The room was super clean and sheets perfumed. I read somewhere here the showers were cold, so was expecting that haha but no, guys, they do have warm and nice shower! Just don’t expect the best structure you know.. if you soak in the spirit of it you’ll love the place. But if you’re expecting a resort or super structured place then you might get frustrated. And btw, I’ve ridden a scooter there for the first time because they were so patient in teaching me! Loved it! However the “reception” only opens at 8 ish am.

I spent a week at the United Colors of Bali and paradise is the best adjective to describe it ! The hotel is all contained within a beautiful setting of trees, tropical plants, flowers. Beautiful scents and the sounds of nature are everywhere. They truly respect nature and the need to preserve it . The location is perfectly positioned to discover the beauty of Bali and the temples, rice fields and food markets. The staff are absolutely amazing and will do everything to make sure that your stay is a good one. Breakfasts were wonderful. Lots of fresh fruit and juices and different choices. I have also never met such a lovely team .. all smiles, warmth and happiness in abundance. Very sad to leave them all when I went !! Lots of advice on where to go and what to see - just ask. Will organise trips for you, Cookery Courses,Surfing lessons The bathroom in the villa is downstairs and up and down some quite steep stairs and so not ideal for the less able. I know that the complex is currently developing some bungalows on the same site which will alleviate this problem. I would absolutely recommend this hotel as a place to stay and am sure that you will have as fantastic a stay as I did.

I stayed for 3 nights/2 days and was nearly the only guest in the place and in all of Munduk (I traveled in May before the high season). Aris is very kind, the rooms are spacious, quiet, and clean with mosquito nets, and the food is home-cooked on demand and very reasonably priced. She provides hand-drawn maps of the area with walking options and gives any information you could want about local excursions. The price is very reasonable and the location excellent - back from the main road, so no traffic noises, with spectacular views to the west and south of Bali. Aris even let me switch rooms free of charge one day due to some plumbing sounds coming the bathroom in my room at night. Highly recommended.

The front desk lady and the guard are very cute, and have been tirelessly helping us solve various problems. It is very close to the airport. It takes 10 minutes to drive. It can be called with Grab. It is very easy, but there is a little bit of eating nearby. The bebek nearby is delicious. It is expensive, almost 100 RMB, and the airport duty-free shops are not expensive. It is recommended to choose other ones. There are Kura-Kura bus at the door to go to many places. It is recommended to take a taxi nearby. You can use this to go to Ubud.

Exactly what we were expecting from this place. Clean and extremely worth the very affordable price. Amazing view from the poolside over the sunset. Nice cuisine by Wayan and he is the guy who will make your stay perfect. They have scooters for rent at 80rp and breakfast à la carte. Kelingking Beach is 45min away by scooter and keep in mind the bumpy road. Leave the Bungalows at 7am to enjoy the most of the beach and avoid the tourists that usually arrive around 10am from the 8.30am boats. Highly recommended.

Very close to the airport, very convenient, walked around, the hotel swimming pool is very good, as well as children's center, gym. like. Kuta
Kuta Beach is the pumping heart of Bali. Famous spot for having some nightlife thanks to the numerous bars, discos and pub, is also a great spot for shopping from the little local shops up to the big brands located at the BeachWalk Shopping Mall. Of course, just few steps away from the beach (really appreciated from tourists), it is plenty of luxurious hotels ready to pamper their guests. But the DSriwing Villa Gallery is something else. A hidden gem, just few meters away from the busy life of Kuta Beach, but yet incredibly calm, relaxing and quiet, by few meters away I mean five minutes walking from the first restaurant of Jl. Pantai Kuta which is the main street that connects the beach to the shops, hotels and restaurants. I still remember our first night there, worried about having to hear the music coming from the restaurants along the beach line, but no, surprise! Absolutely NO NOISES. You turn around the corner of this small street where the DSriwing is located and magically, here comes the silence. The hotel is formed by private bungalows, each one with its patio and facing the clean and refreshing swimming pool, and each one has its own privacy. The staff is more than helpful, the check in fast and they will help you with your baggage and during your time at the DSriwing will fully respect your rest, asking if you want/need the cleaning service to be sure to not to disturb you. The bungalows are airy, clean and incredibly comfortables, king size bed, AC (working for real), closet flat screen TV, coffee, tea, water, bathroom with all the amenities and a nice bathtube that works also as shower. Little thing about the bathroom, they are so keen on their work that they changed daily our shower gel alternating the aromas, no low cost plastic bottles of shower gel or shampoo here, they fill some lovely ceramic bottles with the product. Remember that Bali is fully committed to fight the plastic and to protect their natural paradise. And oh! the windows are floor to ceiling (pretty high ones) so if you pull the curtains, you will enjoy the view of the garden. The DSriwing offers also a generous breakfast, delivered every morning right up to your door, on a table facing the swimming pool, you will be able to choose every night what to eat for breakfast, choosing between american, european and indonesian breakfast. Here you have a photo of the American one, with coffee, fruit, omelette, bread. We already decided that when we will be back in november this year, we will stay again at this lovely place. It stole your heart and gave you back a lot of peace.

Came here to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and stayed for 6 nights. Wonderful location, middle of the rice paddies but at the same time just 5-10 mins away from the ubud center. Villas big and spacious and wonderful outdoor bathroom. The bathroom amenities were not of the best quality but it was kept clean and tidy at all times. We tried breakfast on day 1. Was alright. Not great. So didn’t try again for the rest of stay but short ride away there are ample restaurants where you can get wonderful meals and breakfast. Overall good place to station yourself if coming for a week or so. Would come back again.

Darmada is a hidden eco-conscious resort that is designed to be part of the surrounding landscape and community. Nestled on the side of the river and tucked under the mountains, the resort sits on a large plot of land managed through permaculture principles and based on the Balinese ideals of Tri Hita Kirana. Based on these principles, the owner has limited the number of buildings so it really feels as though you are surrounded by space and privacy. Walking the grounds you can check out the various crops and plants cultivated on the land, which are used in the home-cooked food at the open air dining/kitchen area. Or wile away an afternoon by the river and enjoy meeting some folks from the surrounding village. And enjoy one of the most refreshing swims you can imagine in clear in the clear, cool spring water fed pool surrounded by trees. Our room was beautifully designed and comfortable, with a front porch area, large bed with mosquito net canopy, outdoor shower and a great back porch space with a hammock by the stream for more lounging and reading time! Internet is only available from the hotel in the common areas, but the Telkomsel signal is strong - would be a great place to work remotely or for writing retreat.

We had the pleasure to stay in Gerke House for more than 3.5 months. During this time we had a very good experience in every sense. The team of Gerke House is simply the best! Much attention to details and always ready to help and support their guests. The Guest House is kept in a very proper and clean way. The garden and the pool area are so beautiful and delivers a sense of quietness. The rooms are well maintained with good working air conditioning, the beds are comfortable and the team does the housekeeping each day. Every morning you can enjoy the freshly made à la carte breakfast, which offers many choices and is prepared with good ingredients. The wi-fi connection is fast and the network well distributed over all the property. Yoga classes can be organized or on request salsa dance classes (by the owner himself) in the studio-terrace overlooking the pool (this is an amazing place also if you want to exercise by your own). Gerke House is ideally positioned for exploring the surrounding areas and reaching Ubud in some minutes of drive, not too far and not too close to the center. The in-house laundry is really comfortable and so is the shared kitchen which has all necessary to prepare yourself your own dishes. We really appreciated the kindness of all the team in Gerke House and will for sure come back as soon as possible. A special thank you goes to Made and Karen the owners, as well as to Ayu who made us feel like at home!

Third visit to Bali in three years – and third stay at Kano sari. It gets better and better every time coming back here. Checking in at Kano Sari feels more like visiting friends than checkin at a hotel. Lovely staff, directed by manager Novi with a rear combination of warmth and smooth control. Owner Karen has made this a beautiful place, a quiet haven just a few minutes walk or a quick scooter trip from the busy Ubud centre. Not only in design, but also in maintainance. In spite of the heat, moist and wear&tear, the Kano Sari looks like new – or better – in most every detail. Novi and the staff makes staying here a beautiful experience, where every guest feels special and welcome. As a special gesture, we got to join Novi and Karen on a shopping trip in the Jl Raya Andong street. Novi and the staff also were very helpful with organizing laundry, taylor, transport etc. This time we stayed in one of the two rooms on the top floor of the main building. Great experience, where we loved the view and the good, airy feel of the room and the balcony. This time it was hard leaving. We have booked our fourth stay, bringing the rest of our family and looking forward to celebrate Christmas in Kano Sari.

It is really a five-star hotel. The service staff from the drop-off to the counter to the room are very friendly and the English communication is very easy. There are also many types of restaurants to choose from, and the decor is very beautiful. There are also many choices for breakfast items, but you need to wait in line during peak hours. The pool has 3 areas plus a children's play area. The only drawback is that there are too many flies to eat by the pool, and eating is really unhygienic. This time I chose a room type with breakfast for 3 people. On the last day, I checked out. The staff at the counter informed me that I had not received the notification from the agent and wanted to charge separately. Although I cancelled the charge first, it didn't feel OK. Such a simple procedure can make mistakes. I don't know whose problem is it?

Should not come again because hygiene is not enough. The hotel is relatively old. The wood-colored floors and walls ca n’t tell if it ’s dirty, but the table is obviously dirty. Someone has eaten before, and the soup drips on the table. The key point is that I returned to the hotel at ten o'clock in the evening, and I was too sleepy. I opened the quilt and found that the quilt was dirty. There was a big stain on it. I do n’t know who was left by the aunt or the juice. On the other side of the bed, there are small stains of the same color. The phone asked the waiter to change the quilt. The waiter had a good attitude and quickly came to change the sheets. As a result, he opened the sheets and found that the whole bed was yellow. . . The waiter was also very knowledgeable and hurried down to get a new bed. . . But it is conceivable that we can no longer trust the hygiene of this hotel The service was ok. I called at 10 o'clock in the morning to remind us that breakfast was almost over, although I thought it was for an apology. . Apart from the waiter who changed the sheets at that time, no one mentioned the issue of dirty bedding I regretted not taking a picture. At that time, the patrons were angry. When I remembered taking pictures, I only saw oil pen marks on the quilt (the sheets were changed but the quilt was not changed). But I told my experience anyway, maybe we were Unfortunately, I just chose a room with dirty bedding, but once I believed that there was a problem with the hotel management. In addition, no apology also showed that the small hotel management was broken, and I will not go again.

In october 2019 , we decided to go and see by ourself this Island we where hearing so many excellent comments. As we don’t like to organize too much our stays, we followed an excellent advise from a friend. We contacted the Mathis collection which is a resort with 3 different locations on the Island. Villa Mathys in Umala, Mathis retreat at Ubud and Mathis Lodge in Amed for a total of 13 nights in Bali. Our trip was amazing , everything was very well organised, we could have every informations upon our arrival in those 3 different hotels . Organising the day before what we were going to do the next day . This is a great advantage as there are son many things to see but also the need of relaxing some times . Villa Mathys: Definitely the first place where you have to enter Bali. The villas are extremely charming . This is actually a Paradise. Mathis retreat in Ubud: excellent location to visit all the surroundings. Karin was there to help us making the right choice for the excursions. The restaurant of the hotel is great with a vue on the rice plantations and some nice white ducks walking along. Mathis Lodge in Amed: exceptional place isolated in the hills whith a view on the Ovean and a Jacusszzi in the room !! The restaurant offered amazing italian dishes (and others) that Santos , the Manager always ready to make you feel well, teached to his local employees. We left there afte 4 days off diving and relaxing . Direct to the airport. Well We had a perfect trip !!

My friend and I stayed in Villa No. 1 which was at the end of the road so it was quiet with no passing traffic. The bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious. The bathroom had a free standing bath and a large show, a dual sink vanity and an outside shower area. AS well as the beautifully kept pool (cleaned daily) there was a meditation area with a table and carp swimming around as well as running water. The kitchen, lounge, dining area was homely with enough space for about 6 people. The staff were very friendly and helpful. You simply dialled 0 on the phone and they came from reception to deliver what ever you asked for. There was a good selection of food for breakfast. You ordered the day before and suggested a time that suited you and the staff delivered it. We also took the free villa chauffer driven car to the supermarket and the beach. At the end of the road, there was a selection of supermarkets and places to eat that were reasonably priced. The villa was good value for money.

It’s down a little alley off Poppies Lane 2, but only about 30 metres and feels totally safe. The ferry company to Gili T even organised a pick up for us from the guesthouse early in the morning. Would definitely recommend for a cheap and comfortable place to stay.

Amed
The thing about Camessa is, it's not fancy. But it's cheap! And for the price you get fantastic views over Amed Beach and some of the best snorkeling right out the front of the hotel. We got the top floor suite which had incredible sunset views of the volcano. It was a huge room with big private balcony. The staff were super friendly and accomodated all of our requests, very helpful organising laundry and driver also. The food from the restaurant was a bit hit and miss, but generally good. The pool was a bit suss as (like other Bali pools) I didn't notice the filter or cholorine being used, and it was being filled straight from the garden hose. There is easy swimming right out the front on the beach. Walk just 50m towards Cafe Bobo and jump in for incredible, clear water and a huge array of tropical fish and even sea turtles! Clean beaches with no rubbish. There are heaps of little warrungs to eat in walking distance, but for more higher end restaurants you need a scooter or have a driver to take you to one of the other beach areas. Another review remarked about the wave noise - on our first night the swell was quite high so we did notice the beach was quite noisey (although we didn't mind), however this was a full moon and may have just been the tides, because the rest of the trip it was just a lovely gently lapping of the waves. More disurptive was the live cover band from WaWaWeeWee (sp?) a couple of nights a week which went quite late. Hey, but if you like contemporary rock classics, just head down for a Bintang and join in!
