Stayed here for three days at the end of a nine day trip to Italy. By the time my wife and I arrived we had already come down with a severe case of the flu (had not left our room in Florence for two days). Upon arriving in Salerno my wife had developed strep throat. We spoke little to no Italian (most from phrase book). I went to the front desk and fortunately Carmelo was working. He spoke good English and understood my desperate situation. He made a few phone calls and in short order made arrangements for the Hotel to transport us to the local hospital. We were take there by Charles. When we go to the ER Charles clearly knew everyone and made sure we were taken care of (later found out Charles used to work for local ambulance company). He even made arrangements for us to be taken back to the hotel via one of the ambulances. It took almost a month for both my wife and I to recover. It wasn't until we returned that we found out that there had been several instances of people dying from the combination of the flu & strep throat this flu season. Words cannot begin to express our gratitude to the kindness and compassion shown to us by Carmelo and Charles. Two very, very ill Americans in a foreign land with no local language skills. Our trip itself was pretty much a disaster, but, the experience of how we were treated so well by complete strangers will always be with us. Pictures are views from our room. This is all we really got to see of Salerno other than the local hospital

I stayed at this Hotel for 2 nights. It wasn't my first choice but it was cheap, available at the last minute, and approximately 7-8 minutes via taxi from the ferry. The room was very outdated however, it was about 75 Euro per night and across the street from the Sea. Room features: Fridge, safe, air conditioning, daily room service and breakfast included. Hotel Breakfast: Breakfast runs from 0700-1000. I recommend arriving to breakfast around 0700-0800. The food was fresh and the selection included a variety of croissants filled with nutella or some sort of lemon filling. There was also cheese and deli meats, grapefruit juice, and fresh coffee. The bar will make you American coffee at request and you may get to enjoy a few songs as the guy that makes the coffee loves Frank Sinatra and will sing to you. Room: The room wasn't dirty but it desperately needs a renovation. The bathroom is very small when compared to American hotels and the towels were very hard. The bed was also very hard but again if you are looking for a place just to crash on a budget suck it up because its reasonable. The sheets/towels are changed daily and you don't have to request for this to be done. In fact there isn't even a option to place the little placard outside the door because there isn't one. You do receive the standard shower cap, shampoo, and tiny bars of soaps. The fridge is lightly stocked with whiskey, sparking water, mineral water, and a few sodas. The tv is about 17 in. but I didn't go to Italy to watch TV so that didn't matter. The kind staff makes up for the lack of amenities. Food: There isn't much to eat locally without a walk included. But also be aware that nothing opens until after 6 pm so plan accordingly unless you like McDonalds. There is one across the street that may be open 24 hours. Each time you leave the hotel you must turn your key back into the staff. This isn't a bad thing as you will never have to worry about losing it because it is attached to a heavy round keychain similar to a paperweight. The bellhop will also walk you to your room and carry your bags up the stairs. I believe the was an elevator available as well. When you leave... the maid will turn off your a/c so just don't take that personal they are trying to conserve. Overall, this place is average but doable for the price. Enjoy!

Loved this cozy b&b❤️ It’s very elegant and extremely clean, located in a great position, the medieval heart of Salerno. It’s surrounded by cafes and stores, but at the same time in a very quiet place, you could sleep for hours. At a few steps you have the harbor to get the ferries to Capri, Ischia and the Amalfi Coast. On the other side, five minutes walking you get to the main train station and the bus central station, basically you have all the connections at your fingertips. The manager is just great, the breakfast range is wide, the quality is superbe. You can choose your favorite options and they just deliver to you whatever you want: organic juices, smoothies, fresh fruit, amazing cakes... I was just impressed.

I stayed one night with my wife and daughter. The location was superb within easy walking distance to the train and ferry. The room was very modern, updated and comfortable. I paid extra for a parking spot for my rental car. It was a very secure garage very close by. The owner allowed us to leave our car for the entire following day as we toured the Amalfi coast. He also provided storage for our bags for the day. On our return, he personally took us to a nearby gas station so that we could fill up before continuing our trip. Without a doubt, this B&B exceeded our expectations and we were very happy we stayed at La Collina dei Ciliegi.

We had a room, not an apartment. There are 3 rooms in total. We had room 3. Location is great. Just on the edge of the old town so you can walk to everything. A beach is just across the road. A bus stop to the railway station or Amalfi is very close. We walked to and from the station. If you have roller bags I suggest walking along the water otherwise it’s a nice long (mostly) walking street directly from the station to the BnB. The room is amazing. It’s set in an old fashion grand apartment block. Our room is twice the size of a normal room with a large sitting and study area. Large French doors, ornate ceiling, period tiles. Fantastic! Our host was charming, friendly and helpful. Always bright and bubbly, she cooked fresh cakes for breakfast each morning - and the breakfast room is a delight. Wifi is ok. There was no noise from other guests at all. The room has a small air con unit that just did the job in the mid summer heat. But we rarely used it. The only negative is there is some road noise and a bar underneath. It’s no more noise than any city hotel but you might want to consider ear plugs or request the room that doesn’t face the busy street. Up the stairs and turn left. But the other charms of this place make it all worthwhile.

Had such an amazing stay with these wonderful hosts. Vincenzo and his wife treat you like family, with a warm welcome and a map of the city and beautiful attractions, these guys go above and beyond for their guests. Nice clean tidy room with room cleaning and a perfect coffee and crossiant in the morning. The building you stay in is fantastic with a Budapest hotel feeling you really feel apart of another world. value for money is great. The BnB sits a 5 minute walk to the port where you can go on a direct ferry line to Capri, stopping at the Amalfi coast and Positano Will be coming back with my boyfriend soon. Thankyou Vincenzo :) you made us feel safe as two young travelling girls.

My husband and I had booked a 3 night stay prior to leaving the UK which we extended to 6 nights once we arrived; the view was breathtaking and the room was lovely. There were only 11 rooms and at partial occupancy it felt a little like having our own private villa with very efficient and friendly staff. The Good: this villa was clean, the breakfast was plentiful, the view amazing and the pool area was quiet. There were lots of options for sun beds or sofas or tables around the pool and also shade and full sun; it never felt crowded. The room was spacious with efficient air conditioning and a huge bathroom. The staff were lovely, and had varying levels of spoken English ( I don't speak any Italian) but we got things done very easily and when asked they provided us a lovely but simple lunch, ordered us a taxi and generally kept everything running smoothly. Being high on hill meant that it was much cooler than the old town where it was quite stuffy. As a dog lover I enjoyed seeing the owners dog out in the front driveway, a lovely old labrador who would amble slowly about. This made the place feel much more informal and friendly. Don't worry if dogs are not your thing they are very much kept away from the public areas. The Bad: almost nothing. The view came from being perched on top of a big hill and other reviews will mention the 300 steps and the escalator that shuts at random times. This is easily overcome...if you turn left at the bottom of the hotel steps just before the escalator and follow the road down it is a much more gentle walk both up and down...and you feel very virtuous when eating a gelato or tiramisu! You are then on a nice gentle and flat stroll through the old town and on to the promenade where you can take advantage of all the lovely little bars and restaurants. The villa is on a main road with passing lorries from the Docks, but again don't let this put you off. You cannot hear them from the room, the balcony or the pool area. Overall I loved this place and would highly recommend it.

My husband and I just left Suite 39. We came here as part of our anniversary trip. We booked a total of 4 nights and only stayed a total of 3, leaving a day early. Pros: the staff is very friendly, it is about a less that 10 minute walk from the train stations. It is about a 10-15 minute walk to the primary ferry and about 20-25 minute walk from the ferry that takes you to Capri. It is close to the historical district and there are great restaurants nearby. The room were for the most part clean. Cons: the rooms are very very small. We have been to Europe many times before but this room was exceptionally small for us. It’s the bed and night stands and you have about maybe 5/6 feet then the wall. For us plus our luggage it was a tight space. There was also mold in our shower and my husband had to clean it off. The previous reviews from 2017 say how breakfast can be delivered to the rooms. This is no longer the case!!!! You must go down to the cafe downstairs around the corner yourself to pick it up. Typically that’s really not a big deal but what had made us choose suite 39 was that we were under the impression it would still be delivered in the morning at the time of our choosing. Again, not the end of the world but something you should know if you are reading previous reviews. They provide you with “one free water bottle a day” but it’s a refillable water bottle that I think they might just fill from the sink. Suite 39 is located on the 4th floor of a sketch looking building. There is no reception just a small desk with all the rooms around it, therefore it gets very noisy. The walls are thin and you can hear everything outside in the streets as well. The room served its purpose as a place to sleep but we personally would choose somewhere else the second time around.

My parents, cousin and I hopped of an exhaustive train journey of 6 hours.... we were very lucky to have found Enrico and his B&B. We checked in later than expected but Enrico was super helpful and loaded up our luggage into the elevator and showed us the rooms. He explained everything in complete detail and reiterated he was there to help during the period of our stay. I stayed in the “Capri” room, very comfortable, large and with ensuite bathroom. The wifi was convenient also to help plan the next days on the Amalfi. Would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to any friends or eager travellers. The rooms are very economical in comparison to further up the coast. 6/5 stars.

We stayed in Salerno at the Casa Castagna for 4 nights. The B&B is located in good location about 10 minute walk to the train station and the ferry to Amalfi. Teresa is the manager for the B&B and she is excellent. The rooms are spacious, very clean, a very good continental breakfast is served each morning in the central dining room. There is a lift from the 1st floor to the 2nd floor where the B&B is located. It is very quiet location but central to pedestrian shopping area, restaurants, historical sites, and transporation. We loved Teresa, she does an excellent job in taking care of you while you stay there. We would highly recommend Casa Castagna for anyone visiting Salerno.

We stayed here for four nights while visiting the Amalfi coast. There were nine of us so we basically had the entire place to ourselves for 3 of those nights. There are 4 rooms in this b&b. It’s in a regular mid rise building, so you could miss it. The rooms were very clean and spacious. Our room had a newly renovated bathroom. Breakfast every morning was quite good, the usual Italian fare. Sylvia was always there early getting everything set up for us. She was so sweet and helpful. Gave us good advice on what to see and how to get to Capri sine the direct Salerno to Capri never seems to actually run. Location is fantastic, close to train station, the main shopping street, and a 5 minute walk to the Amalfi and Positano ferries.

My friend and I travelled to the Amalfi Coast last June (2019) and had originally booked a quaint B&B in the mountains for our accommodation, but as we were only there for a long weekend and had decided not to hire a car, we decided to switch to a hotel closer to local transport links instead - it was a bit more expensive but ultimately the best decision ever! It was a lovely stay and we would both happily return! When we arrived, there was a major refurb in full swing with some scaffolding and building work going on (which we were informed of prior), but this didn't bother us at all. We had earplugs with us but didn't Our twin room was big and airy, with high ceilings, air con and ensuite bathroom with a shower - it was so hot we both had at least 2 showers a day! Everything was spotlessly clean and continued to be each evening we returned from our day trips. The staff were wonderful too, so welcoming, warm, and friendly. Most of them spoke English too, which was refreshing as we had not perfected our beginner's Italian conversation techniques just yet! Breakfast each morning was a lovely affair - self service traditional continental with a variety of hot and cold drinks, cereals, yoghurts, fruits, bread, cold meats, cheese, and delicious mini plain and filled croissants. The Hotel Plaza is located a stone's throw from both Salerno train station and the local ferry port, where we caught ferries to other coastal towns along with connections to Capri and other islands. The hotel is also located along the street from the shopping district, a pedestrianised promenade lined with palm trees with old fashioned buildings hosting a few bars and restaurants too. All in all, a super place to stay, highly recommend!!

We stayed here for 4 nights as part of our trip to the Amalfi Coast and Napoli. We checked in in the restaurant a few meters away where the reception is and where we had our breakfast included in the room rate. We booked the superior suit and we found it very spacious, clean and comfortable, with high ceiling and a luxurious chandelier. We also had a private balcony overlooking the main street and we loved that too, especially my partner who is a smoker. The bathroom was clean, the shower with good pressure and constant hot water. We had a small fridge and the big unexpected bonus for us was the large smart TV where we could stream Netflix on the rainy afternoons. We felt living like locals a little bit staying in this typical for the area house. The only things I didn’t like was that we had two single beds in our room too which spoiled the overall feel of the room, and also thr breakfast was very basic (although the cappuccinos were great) but other than that we liked everything and we were happy with our stay.

This place has the best location in Salerno. Close to town, restaurants, the best beach in the city. Parking is a virtual nightmare and you can hardly find any space. The room is okay. Not a lot of kitchen utensils to cook but the essentials. The coffee machine had stagnated water inside. They did not bring clean towels until third day. but it is a room in a great location. The room is either fantastic nor great. Just a normal okay room, hence, a bit overpriced. Would recommend and stay there again.

The place was in a decently central location, about 15 minute walk (up hill) from the central station. The owner/manager was extremely nice and helpful and actually allowed us to check in early. The rooms large and clean though the king size bed had a a lousy mattress which for someone with hip problems like me is not the best. Also, though the bathroom looks pretty nice the sink is placed way to forward creating a lot of water splashes behind it ruining the wood base and the heating rack is too close to the toilet boil, so much so that you rick getting burned all the time. Biggest problem is the fruit and veg market in the square below, it gets VERY noisy from 5 am in the morning!!

Italy's second stop - Florence. For those who are worried about Italian law and order, I hope that you will find this comment helpful. We also looked at the reviews of many hotels, and when we went out, we were very worried about throwing things or being turned over. After screening with friends, this is a very old hotel. First of all, don't think that the hotel is an old hotel, worry about the facilities and equipment. In contrast, these historical hotels have their own unique charm. If you come to an Italian hotel, you will have to pay your own city tax. Ctrip prepaid is only paying the room rate. When you check out, remember to pay the city tax. The third is to praise the location of the hotel breakfast, believe me, you will be surprised when you go. This hotel! Great!

The breakfast at the hotel, although simple, was very good. The environment is good and the service staff is very good. They will ask you what coffee you need and make it for you. The hotel is by the river, opposite the observation deck overlooking the city. Room 115, which is scheduled for more than 1,000 nights on Ctrip, is extremely small. Immediately decided to change rooms, adding 80 euros per day to 414. It should be the best room in the hotel. No one has lived in it for a long time. It was temporarily cleaned for me. With terrace, you can see the dome of the Church of the Cross and Lord Square and the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Flowers. Almost the same field of view as the pictures provided in the museum's commemorative album. The gap with room 115 completely heaven and hell. Later I lived another day. When leaving the hotel, almost € 1,000 was paid. The hotel had a fatal injury, too far from the train station. The hit was around 16 Euro. Whether you go to Pisa or Outlets, you have to go to the train station, and the traffic costs a lot of money. The weather was bad and almost all of them were hit later. The cost of living in this way is particularly high. Unless you are light and easy to come to Florence in the future, it is recommended to live near the train station. So as not to increase a lot of transportation costs.

The hotel location is very good, very close to the train station, walking distance to all the attractions of the central city. The hotel environment is very artistic and there are many art books in the lobby. However, there are no TV channels in English or Chinese. Breakfast was plentiful and staff were friendly. On the first night of check-in, I found that the curtains were broken. I called the front desk to repair the curtains, but the maintenance master didn't come for a long time. When I called the front desk, I kept apologizing to us, and soon the master brought the ladder. The curtains could only be hung up that night. The curtains were repaired when we returned the next day. Solve the problem in a timely manner.

I like this hotel very much, beautifully decorated, with a small swimming pool, a variety of restaurants, good taste, it is said that the restaurant still has a star level. Breakfast is good and hot coffee is also available upon request. Booked in the parent-child room, the room is double-decker, there are two toilets, and all kinds of supplies are also complete. I sent six apples, were friendly to Chinese, had a lot of towels, and had toothbrushes. Although we didn't use their disposables, we also felt Chinese courtesy. There is also a Chinese-style breakfast: instant noodles + dumplings, haha, we did not eat Chinese breakfast. The only bad thing is that there are many flies near the restaurant on the first floor. The little ones fly into the room. Don’t mind if you mind, I don’t know if this will happen. There is also a super close to the station, less than 5 minutes, which is especially suitable for those of us who take the train. Not far from the attraction.

Cost-effective, small hotel remodeled at the end of the pitti palace. The location is super superior, the corner location, convenient and well-connected, and shopping and dining areas are integrated, right in the middle of a bunch of local brand stores! Not secluded, safe and lively! The top floor breakfast room overlooks most of the Florence side. The waiters are friendly and the rooms are clean and tidy! Breakfast is ok, continental breakfast has always been simple. Although the hotel is not large, the double room is enough for me. Selected by dozens of hotels in Florence, not for nothing, I will be here next time!
