Such a marvelous stay. The place is located right in the center, one short block away from the main street where cute stores and boutiques are located, and about a 5-minute walk from the main square, Piazza Duomo. The entrance to the hotel is through the café. The lady who greeted us was very nice, she helped me to carry my clothes and showed us to the room. It was in the back and had a little charming yard with tables and chairs. You can smoke there if you like. The room itself was very beautiful. Please check the pictures. The floor doesn’t have a carpet but it’s warm (heated). If you don’t like walking on the floor barefoot, take slippers with you. The TV is very small and quite far away from the bed (it had a Russian channel too, by the way) but we don’t really watch tv or stay in the room long when we travel. The bathroom has a shower cabin. A few amenities provided (soap bar, lovely shampoo and shower gel and also, unexpectedly, contact lens solution). I was glad I took a hair conditioner with me. Sincerely, I would substitute contact lens solution with a hair conditioner. I had contacts before and you always go everywhere with your solution. It’s like breathing. Most likely nobody from the guests will need it for a long time. While the conditioner is a must for the most women (and some men too). Just a friendly advice to the hotel :) The next day we also had a breakfast that was included in the stay. We asked for 9 AM and when we showed up at the lovely café at 9:09 it was already served. We appreciated that because we had an appointment somewhere else after that. It was a perfect breakfast: fresh focaccia genovese and prosciutto cotto (ham), fresh warm croissants with apricot jam, fresh fruit and berries, freshly squeezed orange juice and made to order cappuccino. Everything extremely simple but delicious and just the right amount! Loved it! The decor of the sitting room is cute too. It has a bit of a French vibe, which, of course, is logical considering the geographical location of the region. So, to sum it up- great location, great room, great breakfast, great service! Recommended for those who would like to stay at a place with a character and a personal touch.

The hotel is well situated next to the Duomo of Alba and the place is clean, these were the two best things about it. Unfortunately the hotel is very noisy, the rooms are not soundproofed in any way and the whole place echoes like a church. You can hear every step, and move of other hotel guests to the room like you can hear when other guests are having a shower or use the toilet. Not only this but the Duomo next door will start ringing its bells at 7.45am and 8am and so on... Another big fault was that there was no internet connection in the room, no signal whatsoever. Maybe some other rooms get signal closer to the reception but the room where we were staying at the end of the corridor had none. Besides this the bed was rather uncomfortable and there was a strong, unpleasant smell of detergent lingering everywhere in the hotel. The place felt unloved and it lacked attention to details. Overall it was unfortunately not a very nice experience, especially since we had high hopes after reading positive reviews of the place.

First things first. The location is fantastic. It's exactly where you want to be in Alba. Second, it's certainly good value for your money. Now...the negative. I understand air conditioning isn't "a thing" in Italy but when your city is experiencing higher than normal temps and you advertise air conditioning...you should have working AC. When we arrived we were placed on the highest floor (floor 3) and walked into a room that was 26 degrees (79 in F.) Now if you're American like me, this may feel a bit high. Especially after walking in from a hot summer's day. When I went down to ask about why the AC wasn't working they said it was being switched to heating systems soon. I asked if they could lower it even 2 or 3 degrees or at the very least provide a fan to move some air around. There is no airflow. They told us they would fix it. That night we returned it was blowing hot air. Still at 26. It was a miserable night's sleep. The next day they tried to "fix it" again. Same results. Slept in 26.2 degrees all night. The third day a very helpful young man tried his best to refill the water to help the cool air, and success! The temp dropped to 24. Far from the 22 he promised but we were thrilled! Until...midnight. When the air shut off completely, never to return and thus concluded our 3rd miserable night sleeping at temps above 26 degrees. And when you're hot? You noticed the hard bed and paper thin pillows that much more. It's a shame. The space is great, the kitchen is great, the bathroom is new and nice. The lack of people working in the building itself is tough and PLEASE don't advertise air conditioning if you refuse to have it work properly or even let guests have control over things. Bare minimum...give us a fan to move some air around.

This hotel was one of our absolute favorites during our trip abroad! First of all, Alba is a gorgeous small city inundated with good food (NINE Michelin stars), good wine, and fun people. Locande del Pilone is small, quaint, and perfectly situated atop a hill, surrounded by breathtaking rolling vineyards, hazelnut farms, and small Italian towns. The rooms were comfortable with AC (important this days during European summers). The Michelin-started restaurant residing within the hotel is delicious, and if you choose to opt out of the pricey 11-course, 4-hour experience (although worth it to experience this at times exotic - veal heart, veal tail, foie gras sorbet - and fun menu), the a la carte menu is reasonable priced (20-30 Euro for a pasta dish). There is also a great restaurant owned by a jolly old Italian man who never wore a shirt or shoes 😂 just down the hill (5-10min walk). We had a superb and filling charcuterie board served with a surprising amount (>1lb) of beef crudo as well as other locally sourced ingredients with some dolcetto wine there. DONT MISS ALBA. And when you visit, stay at LdP! PS - We rented a car and navigated throughout Piedmont with the car. Unsure how you would do it otherwise... wasn’t an Uber or Lyft kind of place and I’m not sure if trains get you there!

We stayed in the Deluxe Suite (w/kitchenette) and this was HUGE. It really was more like an apartment vs a hotel room. There was air conditioning in each room so that was really nice, esp. in the heat of the summer. Breakfast is okay -- not bad but not amazing. There is an array of bread/pastries, fresh fruits, meats and cheese, and includes one hot drink. There is an additional fee for more drinks or other breakfast entrees not featured in the buffet (i.e. eggs) but it's not expensive at all. The family that owns this estate is very warm and friendly. I didn't get their names unfortunately but the son welcomed us upon check-in and offered us complimentary glasses of spumante (which was delicious! we ended up purchasing multiple bottles). The mother, who runs the place, is an absolute saint. Their hospitality was shown even beyond the hotel grounds. We were driving along the road to Treiso and got stuck in a drainage ditch when the lovely owner happened to pass us, turned around, and called multiple people until she could get someone (it was her brother-in-law, who owns the property next door to Cascina Barac and he's also absolutely wonderful!) to help tow us out. She doesn't speak English really and yet she still made us feel so well taken care of. She even called the restaurant we were heading to (before we got stuck) to let them know we were running late. The location of Cascina Barac is pretty well-situated as it's an easy enough drive to Monforte d'Alba, Barbaresco, Neive, etc. We recommend hiring the e-bikes (25 euros for 4 hours, 40 euros for 8 hours per person) and exploring the region. Because it's electric, it makes going up the hills quite easy. They are happy to recommend restaurants and make the reservation for you, which we appreciated. There is plenty of parking so you do not need to worry about that. The only thing that would have made this place absolutely perfect is if it had a pool! But overall, we had a lovely stay and enjoyed our time here.

Not knowing much about Alba and wanting to attend the White Truffle Festival, we booked this hotel based on the photos and a couple of reviews. Having spent my career in the hotel and restaurant business and being a long time hospitality professional, I have always read these reviews with a large dose of cynicism. In fact, when I have had a negative experience I NEVER, post a review. Instead I write to the management team which has ALWAYS resulted in a pleasant response and a resolution of the issue. So, of course this is a positive review. We had driven almost 7 hours from Treviso and had about had it. Tired and frustrated with the GPS that had sent us to a dirt road, we were thrilled to see the Medea signage. The parking was conveniently adjacent to the hotel with an underground parking lot as well as a street level lot. Spotlessly clean I must add. We entered the lobby and were greeted by an incredibly friendly young man who could have been an owner. The lobby was sparklingly clean and the desk had many guidebooks and pamphlets. We were checked in, given accurate directions to Alba and informed of the small Bar next door. Given our key, directed to the elevator and instructed on using the key card to operate the lights we opened the room door and both exclaimed WOW. Quite frankly we were not expecting as spacious a room with a great club chair and the most comfortable bed. A spotlessly clean bathroom with a great shower with atypically good water pressure for Italy. A beautiful view of the farm next door and the lounging area adjacent to the entrance with a lovely outdoor wicker furniture set. Nice amenities, a small mini bar and great lighting. We drove to the restaurant we had reserved using the 100% accurate directions from the front desk person. It is a short and easy drive to Alba with plenty of parking in the Historic Center. That night we slept like babies and woke to a beautifully sunny morning. We went down for breakfast which had been described at check in. A lovely assortment of pastries, a fresh baked torte and a GREAT coffee machine which dispensed Espresso, Cappucino etc. Some salami, cheese, fresh fruit and juices. No bacon and eggs but if that is what you are expecting than you are in the wrong country. We had spent almost a month in Italy and stayed at an increíble Spa on Lake Garda, an AirBnB in Treviso and had dined at local places as well as a Michelin starred restaurant. We attended festivals, visited wineries and ended our trip with the International White Truffle Festival. As we reflected on our stay we both remarked that the Hotel Medea was the most incredible ending to an amazing trip. We usually return to Italy twice a year for a month and we will definitely add Alba, Hotel Medea and the Festival to our subsequent visits. And I must add, the housekeeper made up our room as well if not better than any Ritz Carlton. Everything spotless, all of our luggage neatly arranged in a corner, towels folded and restocked. The ba

My husband and I choose this place because they provide private parking and have a Tesla charger, but we would stay here even if we didn’t have a car! The location is perfect - easy walking distance to the main area in Alba. The suites were spacious and clean and cutely decorated making it feel cozy and comfortable. Loved the toiletries like their Nebbiolo grape lotion! They have coffee, tea and some complimentary snacks which is nice. Kasia gave us a warm welcome and was friendly and helpful throughout our entire stay. Checkin and checkout was super easy. Also loved the complimentary tasting at the Rivetto winery which was excellent!! Highly recommend this accommodation and would definitely stay here again in the future!!

We stayed at Miaclara for two nights as part of our visit to the Lange region. Miaclara is a small hotel set in the middle of the vineyards of the Rinaldi family. The place is amazing; way exceeded our expectations. The setting is breathtaking; with views of the vineyards and countryside everywhere you look. Our room was lovely. It was big, comfortable, and with a sleek yet classy feel.Only criticism is that the room could have used more light at night. The bathroom was spectacular. Yet the best part of this hotel is the people. The owner, Paolo and Monica, are super friendly, very genuine, and eager to share their stories as well as learn from yours. They recommended visits and restaurants that were all great choices. Their vineyards are beautiful, with great wines and enjoyable wine tastings. There is no restaurant, but a delicious breakfast is beautifully setup every morning. Having a car is a must and there is parking right there. Special mention to Ombretta, who was hard working as well as very helpful and courteous. We will definitely come back to this gem.
