We chose hotel Ungherese, because we traveled by car and the hotel is situated outside the limited zone for cars in the historic center of Florence (ZTL) and offers parking space at a private parking garage with an added fee in the room price. Very quiet location, easy access to the city center (bus stop just a few meters outside of the hotel, use buses no 11 or 17). The hotel is recently renovated. The rooms are beautifully decorated (ours was room no 9), the bathroom was spotless and the wi-fi is great. As for the breakfast, it was adequate but with limited variety. One major disadvantage: there were a lot of mosquitos during the summer season, due to the fact that they watered the plants in the garden throughout the day. The windows weren’t equipped with insect screens and as a result we woke up every morning with multiple mosquito bites. We tried to keep the windows closed but it didn’t seem to stop the bugs. It may seem unimportant but really bothered us in the end! All in all, it is a decent choice at its price for the city of Florence.

3 is a little harsh, 3.5 is more like it. I booked this B&B based on pictures and descriptions via a well known hotel website(not sure if I’m allowed to say). To say i was deceived is an exaggeration but I feel I was misled. This was supposed to be a special treat for my wife as previous B&b we have stayed in on this trip were supposedly less glamorous shall we say. This turned out not to the case. Maybe I romanticised over the description of looking out over the garden on our private balcony in a quiet suburb, but looking out onto a main road was not my ideal. My wife loves a bath so I also booked this room as a deep soaking bath was included, great after 10 days of walking around various towns and cities. This also turned out not to be the case, very disappointed to see there was only a shower. Breakfast was very nice, but what makes a good B&b into a great B&b for us is interaction with the host, going that little bit more for the customer. How are you today? What’s your plans? Have you been to see this yet? I would advise you try this, it’s so much better/easier. There was none of this, yes the lady was polite and friendly but that’s where that ended. The building is amazing, maybe having breakfast available in the garden away from the road would be a nice option to have. I have already received an apology about the bathtub as I left an initial review with the company I booked through so the hosts knew we were disappointed with the room but made no effort to speak to us in person. I wish them them the best in the future but I think they need to learn that in this age of tripadvisor and social media, customer happiness is key to a successful business.

The first impression of this guest house as soon as you open the big heavy door is very nice! It feels like you are entering a palace indeed. A lot of history behind its story that makes it interesting. The room we had was a simple two bedroom that was very basic. Saying that, still the high ceiling with the unique design, the sculptures and the wooden feature in the bathroom made it feel a bit more special. It was very clean and the water bottles that offered for free was a nice touch. The receptionist was very kind to help us with anything we needed and the recommendations she gave us for restaurants to visit were very helpful and very good indeed. She was very kind and polite and if we had to score her it would be 5starts out of 5. There is a room to have a cup of tea or coffee for free, if you want, that it was a nice touch too. The only thing that I could say as negative for our room was that it was facing the main road and because of its age it could be noisy during the night if someone was passing by and was talking loud. But it is not a very busy road so this is not a huge problem. If you are a light sleeper however, make sure to book a room facing the other side. Also make sure you will have toiletries with you as they are provided just on the first day of your stay. The location of the hotel was not very central but still in walking distance from the tourist area. It is next to a train station though so if you don't want to walk you can take the train or a bus or even better you can hire a bike as Florence is for a sure a city for cycling around! We would stay at this hotel again but we would probably rent one of the nicer rooms.

Hotel is right next to the station which is a 5 min journey into the main station for 1.5 euro each way per person, but be aware that there is step only access for the footbridge to cross the tracks and down onto the platforms. You cannot hear the trains from the room so don't let that put you off, however, if you're a light sleeper then take some ear plugs as it can be noisy at night as the B&B is on a busy road. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the room was verh clean. It's a continental breakfast and you can have it in the room or out on the terrace if the weather is nice. There is a hair dryer in the bathroom and a fridge in the room with water and soft drinks that you pay for if you take them. There is also a safe in the wardrobe which you can use if you ask for a key. Overall a decent budget B&B with easy access to the main tourist attractions.

Great hotel with super friendly and helpful staff, pleasant continental breakfast and clean, modern rooms with all the necessary facilities (mini-fridge, safe, hairdryer etc). My boyfriend and I still can't understand how it's rated 2 stars as we've stayed in not as nice hotels that are supposedly 4 stars! It is a bit of a walk from the main tourist attractions (25-30 minutes) and there isn't a great deal in the way of bars/restaurants nearby but there is a bus that takes you into the town centre in 10 mins from right by the hotel. My only real criticism would be how tricky it was to get to from Pisa airport - you have to get a coach, then a tram and then a bus which took us a couple of hours. I think the hotel's website makes the journey sound a bit quicker and simpler than the reality!

The staff couldn't do enough to help me. They have a smattering of English but hey you're in Italy! they are very supportive and accommodating. Hotel is basic but lovely, beautiful garden. Word of warning there's no lift ... so be prepared if you are on the top floor! Having said that I was helped up with my luggage at check-in :) It's closer to a 30-minute walk in the heat and if like me a little tubby! but an easy walk to all the main attractions and even some that aren't on the main tourist trail. Well worth a visit!

We stayed in la farina apartments for a few nights during the peak heat wave in Europe in June this year. Our apartment, which supposedly has air conditioning was just insanely HOT. We couldn’t sleep at night because of this and we brought it up with the reception twice and both times we were told oh we’ll fix it while you’re out today! But we’d return again in the evenings to the hot apartment. I really don’t think the air conditioning was working at all! Was very disappointing. The apartment itself was well furnished and had a nice feel to it - Pity we couldn’t enjoy it with the crazy hot weather and faulty air conditioning. The apartment’s are also bit of a walk from the station so if you’re carrying heavy bags prepare to lug it around for 15 minutes. There’s a really nice pizza place right next door and that was pretty much the only positive thing about staying at la farina.

The Villa is in the hills above Florence and is owned by a Missionary order. There is plenty of parking. A bus stop is a few hundred metres from the Villa and it takes about 15mins to the centre. You can buy tickets at reception and the staff were very helpful with bus numbers and stops. Our room was a bit more basic than we were expecting and quite small with twin beds. It did however open onto a large shared terrace. The bathroom was a good size, we had very good internet access but tea and coffee facilities were only available in the communal dining area. · Room was quite small and the twin beds a bit basic. No in room tea and coffee facilities.

I ve stayed at Hotel Massacio for 7 days. The location is perfect - just 20 minutes by foot to the city center and 7 minutes to the bus station to badia fiesolana (I visited a summer school there, so the location was very relevant for me). The stuff was always nice and ready to help. Cleaning service came every day (!) and changed the towels once in 3 days. The room had everything I needed. It was not air conditioned, but there was a ventilator, so it was bearable at +35 degrees and very nice and cool at night (I opened my window every night). So, if you are looking something affordable to stay for a long time, this hotel is a great choice.

We were very impressed with the room and staff and really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. LARGE room with a kitchenette and table, high ceiling c/w chandelier, good sized bathroom with an excellent shower, and clean, clean, clean! The bed was very comfortable with high quality linens. Gabriele was VERY helpful with directions to attractions, bus routes, restaurant recommendations, etc. He let us keep our bags at the hotel for the day after checkout in the AM and supplied us with a door code to retrieve them if he wasn't there. SO convenient! We were in room #1 which is right at the front on the ground floor. We were a bit concerned that it might be noisy, but found the room to be quiet and very handy with no stairs or waiting for elevator. The Duomo and Academia are a decent 20 minute walk away, but the #17 bus stop is a 3 minute walk to connect easily with transit to other attractions like Plaza Michelangelo. The supermarket is a block away, which was very handy. There aren't a lot of sit down restaurants in the area as it is essentially residential, but we found the Edi Restaurant 2 blocks away to be VERY good and reasonably priced. There was no breakfast included, but coffee was available in the morning and an honour system wine bar was very convenient. Overall the guest experience was very comfortable, safe and cozy, away from the tourist core. Great value for the price, we will stay here on our next visit to Florence without question.

Our three-night stay in Florence, of the four cities we visited in Italy, was by far the most comfortable, and the one from which we had the best 'local's perspective'. Matteo was the most brilliant host; his hospitality, advice, and above all friendliness made for an experience that went above and beyond our expectations (which were already high, following other guests' reviews). Upon our arrival, he gave us tips and recommendations for Florence, and over the following days was always ready to answer any questions that came up. The breakfast each day was amazing, with baked cakes and pastries, bread, honey, jams, cheeses, cereals, juice, boiled eggs, coffees and teas, fresh fruit, and an array of dates, sunflower seeds, and such items. Also set in a wonderful residential location only a <30 min walk (or 15 min Mobike!) from the centre. The stay itself was streamlined and well-equipped, with room service, AC, a minibar, a TV, in-room kettle and tea area, all of which meant that, despite being a B&B, it was extremely comfortable and with the skill and professional touches of a larger hotel. The combination of the friendly chatter around the breakfast table every morning, Matteo's hospitality and warmth, and these professional touches, all combined to create a wonderful experience for us as guests. My only small, niggling issues lie in that the fridge in the room was weak, and so wasn't too good at keeping our water bottles cool, and, secondly, the pillows were much too flat to be really very comfortable to sleep on (personally). These issues were, however, to no detriment of the overall stay. Also, bear in mind that (our room at least) did not have a safe. I would recommend Villa Landucci without any reservations, and definitely plan on returning!

Stayed here in Oct 2017. Travel Agent booked after highly recommending to us.I sure didn’t like it. As hotels don’t have AC, we had the windows open. Temp was comfortable, but windows opened in, making a cramped space tinier. Bumped/ my head several times on open window at night. Shower was mediocre. When I needed more wire hangers on check in night...night manager took me up four flights...but no hangers in storage room. Location was ok, but not great. At night, we were treated to a street show...from Italian couples who were arguing and fighting in street. Buffet breakfast was highlight of stay. I’ll pass on this hotel if I ever return to Florence.

Plaza Lucchesi Hotel truly is a 4.5 star hotel. It is located in a great location within walking distance (10-15 minutes) to the city center, facing the river Arno. It’s a beautiful hotel close to everything, yet not in a crowded part of the city but “surrounded” by plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from. I stayed at room 208 which is a spacious, comfortable superior double room with a big window directly facing the Arno with magnificent river views. Bathroom was also spacious but it had a not so comfortable tab. I would prefer a shower instead. The only problem was my internet connection which was frequently interrupted and my mobile signal which was no good. I also took a look at single rooms, since some friends stayed there, and they were nice, clean and beautiful. The best part of this Hotel is the absolutely beautiful view from the rooftop pool bar, overlooking Florence, especially on sunset. If you go there, up the 5th floor, you can see the entire uninterrupted panorama of Florence. The Staff was really friendly, professional, helpful and welcoming and they all spoke good English. We felt welcomed right away. From the reception desk, to the cleaning ladies and the personnel at breakfast, they are all so kind and attentive that made us feel at home. Breakfast was excellent with lots of options, a good selection of everything and something different each day so you wouldn’t get tired of the same food. I loved the croissants although I admit I expected fresh made pancakes and omelets! The concierge was very helpful and corresponded to our needs. Generally we had a wonderful customer experience and we would definitely stay there again.

We were really looking forward to our stay in the Palazzo Castri, but ended up being very disappointed. We had a Junior Suite and it was rather small. The bathroom was right next to the sleeping area and had glass on the doors, Thus, if someone got up to use the bathroom at night and turned on the lights, it would wake up the other person. In addition, the noise coming from the heating/air system was very loud. Even with ear plugs we could hear it (my wife's parents had room next to us for 1 night and it kept them up all night). We could also hear noise from rooms all around us. They did move us our room after the first night and it got a little better. We called to order extra pillows and had to call 3x (each time). The breakfast was ok. The breads were rather stale. The evening tea was also disappointing. They would run out of desserts and it would take a while to restock the trays. On the positive side, the hotel garden is beautiful. After our room was moved we had a beautiful view of the Duomo. The manager went out of her way to help us and she was very nice. The problems with the rooms etc are out of her control. The hotel is just not built very well. The location of the hotel is a short walk from the train station and very central to everything in Florence. Overall, very disappointed in our experience. Probably would look for another hotel in Florence.

Carefully write a review of the Four Seasons Hotel in Florence, three nights in Florence, 2 nights PORTRAIT, 1 night to experience the seasons, give the following suggestions: 1) Service: Say service first, personal feeling, PORTRAIT service is more cordial and enthusiastic. There is WELCOME DRINK at the door, with beer and red wine and other drinks. There is a doorman from Russia who is very enthusiastic and can really describe himself as a guest. If you leave, you will also ask if you want to bring bottled water. Four seasons, no one can say bad, but it is very standard and professional, but there is no temperature. PORTRAIT won. 2) Location: The four seasons are far from the attractions, but not far away. The distance cannot be said to be a weak item. The hotel has a garden, but it is not very big, but it is okay (refer to the size of Shanghai Garden Hotel). Moreover, mainly, the garden layout is not very special. PORTRAIT is on the edge of the old bridge, the most central location, everything is convenient. PORTRAIT won. 3) Price: Four seasons more than 7900 35M2, no early; PORTRAIT 4500 one night / 4900 one night, 40M2, but the hotel gave me a rise, lived 53 room type, including 2 early. PORTRAIT won again. 4) Room decoration: the room, the four seasons are European style, or the law-abiding; PORTRAIT is more modern, also comes with a simple kitchen cabinet, you can eat yourself. Personally, the style is like PORTRAIT. 2 bedding products are good. 5) Four seasons, because the price is much more expensive, my heart naturally demands him. Service I scored 4 points because it was not special and the price was not good. The Michelin-starred PALAGIO restaurant has also tried, and can only say that it is okay, not surprising, and quite satisfactory. 6) Four seasons should be expensive in many additions? For example, I saw that there is still a hairdressing. It is estimated that the SPA is also very good, but it is not used. In addition, there are swimming pools in the four seasons, but it is not big or open. PORTRAIT does not have a swimming pool. The above hopes have a reference to later people.

This hotel really is an amazing place to stay. The service that you get from the reception staff to the man serving breakfast is extraordinary. The staff called me by my surname when welcoming me everyday which always put a smile on my face. The hotel was very clean and in a great location just a 10-15 minute walk to duomo and the attractions of Florence. The breakfast due to Covid was not a buffet and instead was waiter served and the waiter couldn’t do enough for us. I am coeliac and they took complete care of me with a breakfast box in the morning with muffins, brownies, bread etc. Just top quality service and food. The room was very clean as was the hotel with no worries about Covid. I would 100% stay here again without doubt. Thanks to all the staff for being so attentive

This hotel is just amazing. It looks nothing from the outside, rather dull and imposing with red brick. Step inside and the whole façade turns into elegance and beauty. Our room was 628 and it was gorgeous. Spacious, immaculate and had lots of other qualities, i.e. mini bar (payable on departure, quite expensive), beautiful shower and bath toiletries, large fluffy towels and a good sized TV. The King sized bed was comfortable with luxurious bedding. Good air con. The breakfast has a good selection and is situated on -1 floor. Masks are compulsory in all common areas in the hotel, including collecting your breakfast and such like. Only mask free whilst seated and eating. Outside the hotel, 25 yards to the left, across a fairly busy road is the metro which takes you direct to Florence. Stay on the tram until the very last stop (this is announced), cross the road and your journey around Florence can begin. We ate at various restaurants, cafes, wine bars and each one had it's own delights. My favourite spots were View on Art Rooftop and Move on Italian pub & record store. Art rooftop is picturesque with stunning views of Duomo. Drinks are expensive but as a one off, worth it. Move on pub was a great location for sitting and watching the world go by. Great service in both. We explored Florence by foot (average 30,000 steps) which is so easy to do as so much to see. We took the city tour bus too, fantastic way to get great photos. We visited the Pitti Palace and gardens. Make sure you get the correct ticket to see both. Walk the Ponte Vecchio bridge and revel in the splendour of the jewellery shops. Florence has so many sites and beautiful monuments, it is hard to mentioned them all. Good tip - flights from UK direct to Florence take forever. We flew Manchester to Pisa, took the airport shuttle to Pisa train station and travelled to Florence. We used the tram and got off right outside our hotel. Great adventure to add to an inspiring and breath-taking holiday x
