The hotel location is very good, just here is moonstone beach, you can see the beach after walking, there are several viewpoints within a range of about 500 meters by car. There are also wooden walkways to go. The courtyard room is useless. The small courtyard behind is not close to the sea, facing the high speed, it is better to have an ordinary room, the price is only half. The courtyard room also has more bathtubs, which increases the room area. Moonstone beach

The hotel is located in a small town, the small town of the special small Wal-Mart, the supermarket chain such as target. The hotel's rooms are large and the sanitation is average. I went to the supermarket and bought some semi-finished products for dinner, but found that there was no tableware. The little girl looking for the front desk asked if there was a disposable tableware, but the girl said that they had no breakfast so there was no tableware. Overall, it is OK, after all, the hotel cost is not high.

So after a long day of driving south on Pacific 1, both wifey and I were weary and happy to see the Morgan Hotel sign as we came out of the mountains. When we walked into the lobby, there was nice music playing and we were greeted by friendly staff. The room presents nicely when you walk in hence the nice photos online. Then you start seeing the signs of age. The small fridge was very old and door would not close properly. There is no microwave in the room. There was a table fan provided and it was ok to keep you semi cool during the night. Honestly when driving down the Pacific 1, we found it was a common theme when you are close to the ocean so maybe it's not a thing but we found it very strange not having AC in the room. Pros Easy to get to once you emerge from the mountains. It is in San Simeon which is basically a community of hotels. Free parking Pet friendly Comfortable bed and pillows Our room had a fireplace and super comfy couch. Updated bathroom Very nice pool area and breakfast area Cons Very bad internet. I could not even get my laptop to connect! We were at the end of the hall so that may have been part of the cause. I'm a computer guy so internet is important to me. When I finally did get to connect, the speed was less than 1Mbps. This is barely enough to check your email these days. The room was very empty and could easily handle getting rid of the little round side table and adding a nice coffee table in front of the couch OR adding a desk and chair. The room is large but the space is poorly utilized. The TV and remote are a throwback to the 80's. The remote is so old that the finish was rubbing off the back. No sleep timer on the TV. As others have stated the breakfast is terrible. There is basically yogurt and bagels. Nothing is hot, no eggs, no bacon, no sausage. There is ample room to provide a typical continental breakfast and this is the first hotel we've stayed at on our 12 day highway 1 adventure that provided such a bad breakfast. Even the bare basic Best Western hotels have a superior breakfast experience. Summary If you just staying a night and don't care about internet or breakfast, this was a nice clean, reasonably priced hotel with a comfy bed and pillows and clean bathroom.

The hotel is located by the sea and has a beautiful view, perfect for a scenic walk. The room is upgraded free of charge, spacious, upscale, comfortable, fully equipped, and the living room can see the sea. Suitable for taking children. Although it is simple (bread, coffee, fruit), but after heating, the service staff sent the rain to the room and enjoyed it. It’s easy to find a hotel after you travel to Big Sur on Highway 1. It’s also convenient to eat late.

Very close to the Hearst Castle, it is very convenient to rest on the way on Highway 1. Going out and crossing the road is the beach. It is very beautiful to watch the sunset. In the evening, the wind is strong and keep warm. The breakfast in the hotel is very rich, the dinner in the restaurant is also delicious, and the children's three chocolate bars are also sent at the time of departure, which is very intimate.

A temporary hotel on the road, a standard American motel, but it is much more cost-effective than other nearby hotels. Breakfast is also free. It is seven kilometers away from the nearest town and there is a big supermarket in the town.

The hotel is great right by the Pacific Ocean. I walked along the seaside trail in the morning and saw the sunrise! The hotel has a fireplace and an outdoor hot pool. Although it is not cold in winter, we get up early to watch the sunrise after swimming in the pool and soaked in hot water before leaving. There is no place to eat nearby, you can ask for breakfast to the room plus a little delivery and service charges.

The hotel room can see the sunset, the health bar is a general motel, very close to the beach, the restaurant next to the hotel tastes good, recommend New York steak, there is another point I am not sure, I received theft the next day after leaving the store I swiped the credit card information, because the card that was stolen was the first time I swiped the deposit, and I still paid a deposit at the next hotel, so each accounted for 50%. It is recommended that you close the credit card non-swipe transaction, just in case!

The property is very well maintained. Landscaping is 5 stars. The 2 firepits are nice. Not big, but for enough for like 4 people. Had a double queen room that was clean, and nicely decorated. People at front desk were nice. Some friendlier than others. The beds were on the ”SOFT” side. No firmness in these, which was disappointing ... but my back did ok. Things that need some improvement. COFFEE: the in-room units I always dislike because they are rarely very clean or the coffee very good, and they are messy to use. So they had coffee carafes in the office. But it was usually ”warm”, if there was coffee there. Many times it was empty. The DECAF carafe was ”broken” so the coffee was difficult to get out and it always deposited lots of grounds in the cup. Yuk. They said a new one is on order. hmmm. Seems like they should always have a spare one of these on hand. e.g. always ”be prepared” The pool area needs some TLC and some sprucing up. Not very inviting, The Hot Tub was warmish water. Housecleaning,. They don't do any once you are there. You can ask for new towels at the office. you pick it up. You have to put your own trash cans outside your room and hope they get to emptying them. And cups or glasses you dirty, same thing. Either clean it yourself or put outside and hope they leave you new ones, Or you need to go to office and get what you need. We were there more than 2 nights and usually at INNS, after 2 nights you get a cleaning, but not here. Just felt there should have been a bit more ”service” for the cost of these rooms. And COFFEE ... that is a biggy. It should be HOT, plentiful.

It was an ok Hotel on my way from San Francisco back to LA, The room is so so and rather damp. The staff are very helpful and polite. There are only 2 restaurant within walking distance but they are pretty expensive for what they are, the hotel will provide you a 20 percent discount for one of the restaurant. Next time I would rather continue my journey and stop at different area such as Morro Bay.

Self-driving Highway 1 is a convenient place to stay, convenient to check in, close to the seaside, spacious rooms, free parking, and rooms have fireplaces but I didn't light up for a long time, making the house full of smoke, haha. There is breakfast but you need to pay separately. Overall, the price is too expensive on weekends.

Filthy, super low budget at expensive rates, The room was dirty. I had to towel mop the floor I got a piece of glass in my toe. The towels were gray not white they were rough. The reading light had large amount dust the headboard had a grease head mark on it. The bathroom was horrible. The toilet was so close to the bath tub you could barely use it the bathroom light was rusted mattress squeaked all night. And the 3 original pillows provided were flat and no good. The grounds are a mess. Be careful where you walk you might fall. They had old trashed furniture towards the backyard near the horrible overgrown fire pit I asked for a additional pillow. The clerk did not want to give me one. But finally did under protest All I can say is this is the worst place I have ever stayed at. Please don’t make the mistake I made. Do not book at this dump Showing in the pics the gray dirty towel I had to use to mop the floor Others are of the horrible bathroom. And one of the dust covered reading light!

11-16-19 I booked on line so I really didn’t know what to expect but it was a very nice experience. We stayed in the main Squibb house that had about 3 rooms on the ground floor. We stayed upstairs in the Gothic room and really don’t know why it has that name but very comfortable. It was a small but efficient room. No TV or fridge in the room but we hardly ever turn on the TV and we sat our sodas out on the roof to keep cool so it was all good. The breakfast was served in the back-Barn And was great - we had scrambled eggs, toast, jelly, sausage, French toast, hot syrup, fresh fruit salad, coffee, OJ, hot tea, The breakfast area and sitting room was so inviting. We are planning on returning.

Booked an overnight stay directly on website. Hotel had cyber sale on rooms. Free parking in underground garage. Room was clean. Bed was very comfortable. Fireplace was on all night. Jetted tub was a plus. Had an issue that was easily taken care of by hotel maintenance. Helpful staff. Location was perfect if you want to relax and enjoy nature and the ocean. Wooded area meets sea cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Bicycles are available. Walking distance to town but suggest parking in town and browse the shops/restaurants. Overall good experience and would stay here again.

My wife and I stayed here recently while visiting family in the area. She rates it as 'excellent' overall where I would probably go with a 'very good'. One thing that we didn't like is that their website does not provide enough detail regarding the location of the rooms they offer. Thus when we arrived we found out that my wife, who has enormous difficulty climbing stairs, had to climb a very long flight of stairs to get to our room. I also had to lug our luggage up/down those same stairs. There is no elevator and there was no offer to assist with our luggage by staff. I had called the property ahead to ask questions however, I never got anyone to answer and by the time an employee had called me back it was too late to do anything about getting more details regarding room location, etc. There is ample off-street and street parking in the area and the staff were responsive to requests for additional amenities like toilet paper, soap, pillows, etc. They also offer a complimentary happy hour for guests from 5 - 7 PM every evening where you can get up to two cocktails and some basic finger food. If you are a light sleeper, it can be difficult to sleep as anyone walking in the halls can be heard through the doors and due to the squeaky floors. The pillows they provide were also very poor as they provided no support at all. Overall, if you like to stay in historic properties this place is probably for you. However, I highly recommend making inquiries in advance to ensure you get a room that will meet you needs.

Moonstone Landing sits along Moonstone Beach drive. Such a beautiful location across the road from the ocean. We stayed in an ocean front king room. Wonderfully comfortable bed ! Room was large with a table we could have breakfast at. Chairs on patio were great for watching the sunset. We originally booked another class room as ocean fronts were all booked. I put a note on reservation to contact me if a room became available. They did contact me and we were able to book that lovely room. This will be our choice of lodging if returning to Cambria. Super friendly, helpful staff ! The only bad thing was having to leave.

Hey we in our family that can make it up stairs had a great time because we can make it up stairs and loved the kitchen for breakfast. This house has a gourmet professional kitchen. Wow totally supplied for anyone that's a professional chief! The location is very near the quaint town of Cambria. For a family who can climb stairs, like all of us but my 86 year old mother, this is a fabulous stay. If anyone wants to bring your elderly family member just know she/he needs to secure a down stairs room at the inn and the rest of the family can have a awesome fabulous time at J Patrick House!

We came during the recent rains and was welcomed in the afternoon by the nice Nadally who gave us instructions. Our room was perfectly cleaned and had pretty much everything we needed. I had a list of restaurants to try but who knows, so she selected one from my list that was so good we went again. In the morning while also telling us of an excellent breakfast place and bakery in the town. Robin works the desk/and grab and go. She too was friendly and every morning we had a nice conversation even talking about the giant elephant sea lions which is not to be missed. There is a restaurant adjacent to the Inn that takes no reservations and is cash only (seriously) so it was not of interest to us for both those reasons. I’m not lining up at. 4 pm to get a view of the ocean when the sun sets at 5 pm🙄 plus food places in town are excellent

Front desk personnel was very friendly and attentive. The room, hmm. Clean but beat up. And broken. The fireplace did not work. Big bummer. Maintenance got it working, but if we turned it ff, it would not go back on. So, it was a one shot deal. Plus, you never want to have to call in maintenance once you are already in the room. Its just uncomfortable. The window opened on ground level to parking lot two feet from window. One window did not lock at all. Cobwebs hanging from ceiling I have these at home, but don't expect cobwebs at a hotel. The fan in the bathroom did not work. So it got very stuffy in there and never dried out from shower. Overall, I would not book here again. there are plenty of other hotel Inns along this stretch of beach, all with the same excellent location.

Moonstone Beach in Cambria is a beautiful place to stay! There are a number of hotels along the coastline here to choose from. I cannot recommend the Fogcatcher Inn. We stayed here in September 2022. Reception at the front desk was friendly but not well informed about some advertised amenities. We had upgraded our room to “ocean view” via an email invitation from the hotel but there was no record of that when we checked in. Also, we were told that since they have no food service there, we could order from a nearby food service with a provided menu. The restaurant was closed the day we were there though, so that was not helpful. Twice we went to the office for assistance and no one was there to respond. Pros- *Great location on beautiful Moonstone Beach. Wonderful shoreline walking path right across the street. *Spacious rooms with high ceilings. *Fireplaces in rooms *Bathroom was recently renovated and in good shape. Cons- *The hotel is rundown and worn. Our room was also very worn out. *Overwhelming odor in rooms of musty mold and mildew. We had to keep the windows open all the time, just to get some fresh air. They probably need to remove the old carpeting in the rooms to remedy this issue. *No air conditioning- probably not needed most of the year. *Uncomfortable beds. Bedding was old and musty smelling. *Chairs in room were worn and threadbare in places. *Nightstand clock didn’t work. Few outlets for plugging in to charge phones, etc. *Room was sp****ly decorated. Very little effort was put in to make room look inviting. * Window blinds/shades were hard to raise and lower and not in good repair. We were very excited to come stay at Moonstone Beach but were disappointed in the conditions at the Fogcatcher Inn. I realize that everyplace has suffered because of closures during the Covid quarantine but the value here for the expensive price was not acceptable.

At moonstone beach, the road is the seaside. There is a small trail that can always walk along the beach, and the sunset is super beautiful. The Blue Dophin Inn is right across the street from the beach in Cambria. It is a boutique hotel with great beds and clean attractive rooms. Our room included an electric fireplace, robes, and a breakfast delivered to our room. I rated it a 4 and not a 5 because the air-conditioning is limited to an open window and fan. The ocean breeze makes this work much of the year. It is less than 10 minutes from The Hearst Castle and a short walk from a great restaurant. In short a great place to stay as long as it is not too hot.
