Very disappointed after our stay at The DaVinci Hotel. I was thoroughly looking forward to this stay as I have not stayed in this hotel before and it had been on my list, check in took quite long, which didn't bother me initially but ended up being a compounding factor after everything else, we had booked online and it took close to an hour for us to get checked in and given our room key, we used this time to look around. When we finally got to our room, we quickly left everything and went to the mall then had dinner, we got back relatively late and only upon getting back did we notice the bed was 2 single beds pushed together, however we booked and paid for a delux king room, needless to say I spent the duration of the evening falling through the 2 beds as I was trying to cuddle my lady, so I didn't get much sleep to say the least. When we got up in the morning I quite badly needed a coffee to wake me up after the night I had and Lo and behold, the coffee machine was not working! By this point you can imagine the frustration.. so we got dressed and went down for breakfast, the process of simply getting a coffee took close to 40 minutes, let alone the food arriving! We actually ended up getting up and leaving because we had plans for the day and did not expect to wait over an hour for our breakfast to arrive! The cold food that was available at the buffet was very dry as well but we scoffed it down and went on our way, it was only while we were walking out that the juice we ordered when we arrived was beginning to make its way to our table, so we were given the bottle and we went on our way We mentioned the incorrect room as well as the coffee machine to the lady at the checkout desk, to which I was reassured that next time we stay it will be nice I can very confidently confirm that there will not be a next time from us, as we do expect a certain service when checking into a 5 star hotel and paying the price that comes along with it On a positive note, the concierge was helpful with taking our luggage to the room Such a pity for a lovely perfectly located place to put such little effort into the quality they provide

I travel to Johannesburg several times per year, every year and have always stayed at the same hotel, however at the recommendation of friends that live in JoBurg, I took a chance and stayed at The DaVinci, also recommending that my Brother and his Wife who would be on the trip with me, also stay there; by far the biggest mistake I could’ve made. This hotel is nowhere near the standard of a 5-Star property. Upon arrival, I noticed that there was a lot of odd traffic of people in/out of the front of the building and lobby areas. The elevators are open to the public so a lot of the Sandton Mall foot traffic is found in the hotel lobby all times of the day and night, didn’t feel secure. My check-in didn’t meet my expectations as I was not offered a room upgrade nor told if an upgrade was/wasn’t available. After a 16-hour flight, I arrived to my room to find significant amounts of mold on the walls of the shower (see attached pictures). I made the Front Desk Staff aware of the concern and was initially told that I’d need to speak with the Staff in the morning. Upon going to the front desk the next day, I met the Benedict to make him aware of my concerns, he was very smug and simply replied with “Okay, do you want us to clean it?” I advised that YES, while the room/shower needs to be cleaned, I do not want to stay in a room with very visible mold in the shower. Benedict immediately seemed irritated that I was requesting an alternate solution, very unprofessional. He offered me another room which had its bathroom (literally) in the middle of the floor offering no privacy. After walking back/forth to this room (no staff from the hotel was sent to assist with the review of the rooms) I advised that I didn’t want that room either. He then stated “Well, I can offer you an upgraded room which has a balcony”, again I was never offered an upgrade when I checked in and in-essence, the room that was being offered was in fact smaller than the corner executive room (with mold) that I booked. Nevertheless, I had a full day of events planned so I didn’t have the time to engage any further with Benedict’s unprofessional, disregard, lack of empathy, and dismissive behavior. I was forced to repack all of my belongings, move them from the 7th floor (room with mold) to the 6th floor (new room). The bed in the room was horrible and terribly uncomfortable! The bed is a spring mattress which is relatively thin. The sheets, duvet and pillow case all had stains on them, I requested that the bed linens be changed. Also as the days went on during my 4-day stay, I could smell heavy cigarette smoke coming through the vents in my room as the HVAC was on. In addition, the Housekeeping staff used so much furniture polish on all of the wood, that 2 of my shirts got stained when sitting at the desk as I didn’t realize the polish was so heavy. Finally, the breakfast that the hotel offered was terrible. It is not a buffet, as bowls of fruit, plates of meat, cheese,

We stayed here for a total of 4 nites, beginning of March, two nites we had booked for some rest before joining a group tour of South Africa and Victoria Falls. Two more nites were included in the tour. We arrived very early on the first day, and our room wasn’t ready (no surprise), so we walked over to the mall via the 6th floor access. (Sandton mall), and had a very nice breakfast/lunch at the cafeteria in the Woolworths. When we returned to the hotel, our room was ready, and a porter brought our bags up right away. The room was of a good size, king size bed was comfortable, bathroom had separate shower and bath, and was nicely decorated. We were totally exhausted after almost 24 hours of travelling, and were fast asleep within minutes. Upon waking, we had a very nice dinner at the hotel’s San restaurant. Breakfast in the morning (included) was amazing- there was a cold buffet spread, and in addition, you could order an a la carte dish from the menu - no going hungry here. Honestly, the only thing i could complain about was how cold the water in the pool was.. Besides the easy access to Santon mall, you can also walk to the Nelson mandela square which flows into the sandton mall, which had quite a selection of restaurants - we ended up eatin 2 very nice dinners there. This would definitely be our hotel of choice, should we ever return to Johannesburg..

One of THE BEST stays we have had in Sandton of late. Firstly, on arrival, you will be pleased a covered parkade with state-of-the-art security, and plenty of space for your car. Then you work your way towards a stunningly designed reception on ground level WITH SELF SERVICE CHECK-IN or a more traditional check-in at the counter if you prefer. I you do self service check-in, I highly recommend taking two access cards. One for you to access the room and another for the electricity in the room.... Some of my favorite highlights: -I absolutely LOVED the wallpapers in the hallways -Loved the LED strip lighting and Wallpaper headrest in my room -I loved the Jacobs cappuccino available in the passage to all guests. The only bad lowlights: -The bathroom sink situated in the main doorway is very poor design and is very out of place. -The walls are very very thin and our neighboring guests annoyed us all night long by opening and closing stuff. -There are no plates, no knifes and forks, only two drinking glasses. --  Sent from my Android device with K-9 Mail. Please excuse my brevity.

I visited TL a few times and I’d like to just make a few notes based on my own experiences. Readers discretion is advised! Firstly this building is state of the art with the newest of technology & the views are UP there next to God! 😃 The apartments come in 3 colour schemes and have marvellous marble table tops and flooring! I have stayed in 3 different residential apartments so I know they definitely changed a few elements as they went up each floor.. The 2 bedroom apartment was fully equipped. The only hack upon sitting in the living room is that you will think the remotes don’t work because the decoder is closed in the tv stand drawer and has to be opened when you operate the tv ( I don’t think they thought much about that element when they ordered the tv stands as it’s an element that kinda makes the ergonomics in the space look weird) Long story short, I had to call reception for assistance only to find that the trick is just to open the drawer .. and then bam.. TV starts working! 😕 -I mention this because it’s definitely happened to someone else! I can bet on that! One little personal touch that I loved is that the cloths in the bathroom were wrapped in a lavender stick which is quite refreshing for hotel towelling that is used time and time again! ( I’m yet to still come across a hotel that bothers to put sta-soft on their hotel towels 🤔) - weirdly I only found this on the apartment in the 31st floor and it was sad to see that this doesn’t occur in the 26th floor! Hehehehe ... “we getting lazy in housekeeping as we move up the floors aren’t we ?! 👀 “ Speaking about the housekeepers.... they are loud. Will answer phones while cleaning and their behavior was very unbecoming as they get especially excited if the other room in the apartment is not used as it’s less work for them (which I understand) but it doesn’t come as very professional when said out loud. One of the bathrooms had a drain on the floor next to the shower door that really gave off a bad peel smell. I don’t know if they are aware of that or have any intention of fixing it though but it would be bad to make guests sleep through that kind of problem and expect a great review. I remember just blocking the drain with the bathroom bin but it was a bit frustrating as it got in the way of the door of the toilet. They definitely did not have this kind of a problem on the 26th floor though so I don’t know if it’s an oversight when they were tiling as they moved up the floor. The air conditioning control in the 26th floor is conviniently placed near the bedside light whilst the controls on the 31st floor is by the door of the room.. a bit of hack to get up and switch things on an off by the door if you ask me.. Also , Whyyyyyyyy is there no bed turnover service with chocolate on the pillows in the evening???? I thought the idea is to pamper guests 😌 Or better yet just a lovely fruit basket to welcome guests in the apartment (or wine for that matter) 😤 - I’m starting to thin

Disliked: I honestly feel like the pictures posted on Bookings.Com are a total misrepresentation of what one walks into. We walked into an apartment that looked empty. The lounge area to be precise looked like our furniture was repossessed or we were new tenants waiting for furniture to be delivered. It looked cold and unwelcoming. The pictures on the other hand showed a fully furnished apartment with carpets and or a table in the middle of the lounge. 90% of the TV channels gave error 48-32, and the channels that play without a problem are kids channels. Apparently, the area has signal problems. The cutlery and crockery was a joke, 1 eating fork, 1 spoon, 2 steak forks, 2 teaspoons, 3 butter knives, no bread knife or chopping knives. 4 pots, only 2 of those pots have lids. Only 1 small serving dish, the other one had no lid. When we checked in, we had to pay R200 damage fees, which we were aware of, however, no one walked us to our room for an inspection, despite having paid the damage fee.....when we got to our room, the kettle lid was broken, the cabinet door on the island was broken... The accommodation is located on Grayston drive. It's a busy street, so obviously, there are no silent nights. So if you are hoping for a quiet day or night l, this won't be a place for you. The same night we checked in, we wanted to cancel our reservation and book somewhere else. Unfortunately for us when we went to reception, the reception was closed and we couldn't be assisted. for a place located in Sandton I had high expectations and they were definitely not met.

The check in process was very simple with super friendly staff. One guy stood out for me his name is ”Essential” he went out of his way to ensure that our stay was comfortable. The rooms were fairly clean and had a nice mini bar fridge. The downside was that they didn't have microwave ovens in the rooms, Essential sorted us out through the restaurant. The wifi login tends to be troublesome, I'd prefer they improve on that or find a simpler way to secure it and still allow flawless connecting.

I spent two weeks at the Piazza Hotel Monte****** for business, and it was amazing from beginning to end! Starting with Sipho, the taxi driver who fetched me from the airport and took me to the hotel (and helped with daily transport to site) - he was a gem! Always on time, efficient and friendly. I strongly recommend his services. My room was always spotless, breakfast was great and so was the room service - the best soups and sandwiches I've ever had. The staff were so welcoming, helpful and always friendly. Being within the Monte****** complex provided us with endless dinner choices - we didn't have one bad meal. I would highly recommend the Piazza Hotel.

Located in Sandown, at the heart of Sandton meant traveling around the district was convenient and time-saving so it’s great if you want the best of everything in Johannesburg. The hotel is relatively new and very clean, they seem to adhere to high hygiene standards and their rooms are fresh and well stocked. They have a fantastic pool and jacuzzi area and this was where I enjoyed spending most of my time, just wish there wasn’t an obvious fence immediately after the infinity pool as I feel this defeats the purpose. Not a place I recommend for high-profile guests simply because coming and going was too easy and there wasn’t much privacy outside of the room. The breakfast buffet as well as the food menu were quite a disappointment except for their steaks and cocktails: the breakfast range was limited so forking R240 pp each day felt like a rip-off. The service was generally incredible, with warm and friendly staff ready to greet you at every corner.

My stay started out okay at this 4 star hotel, well situated in the Morningside area of town but my last 2 days were not okay on account of a problem with the hot water. After a long day just wanted to unwind and take a long bath, to my surprise there was no hot water. Well these things can happen I guess so I promptly told the reception about it so it could be fixed by the next day. In the morning...Still no hot water. I told the reception again, thinking that they would have the whole day again to fix it but upon returning to the hotel the problem was not resolved. The manager said that the maintenance crew had tried to fix it but fixed the wrong ”thing”, which means that they never went into any of the rooms to see if they had actually fixed it. They could not switch my room because it was the whole back block of the hotel and the only rooms left also didn't have hot water! I left in the morning with yet another cold shower. Sorry folks but this is unacceptable, even it it meant having someone work on it all night, it should have been fixed. Oh, and also food at the hotel restaurant takes 45 minutes to prepare! Order early! Safe in the room doesn't function either. Change to 2 stars maybe 3 at best.

My husband and me, we traveled to ZA for the first time. Our first stop was at The Ashford guesthouse. That was actually a perfect choice! :-) I really loved their fittings and furnishings on the whole property. Everything was so lovely! We stayed there for 4 nights. The staff has been unbelievable great, too! As we are booth vegans, it was difficult to find the right accommodation. But the guesthouse staff is open minded to create a vegan breakfast every morning. It was delicious! The situation of the guesthouse is good, as you have the chance to walk to the Rosebank Mall close by. There, you can find lots of shops and restaurants. All in all, we definitely recommend this place! As we won’t make it to the Kruger NP this time, we definitely have to come back and we’ll book this guesthouse again! :-) Thanks for everything!

As a guest from Namibia, I recently stayed at Road Lodge for three nights, and I wanted to share my experience with fellow travelers. Overall, the hotel offers beautiful aesthetics and has a friendly and helpful staff, which contributed positively to my stay. However, I must address a significant concern regarding the control of noise within the premises. Upon my arrival, I was immediately impressed by the hotel's elegant design and the warm welcome from the staff. Throughout my stay, the employees were attentive and willing to assist with any requests or inquiries, making my interactions with them enjoyable. Regrettably, I encountered an issue with noise disturbances during my stay, which greatly impacted my ability to rest and relax. After experiencing a sleepless night due to noise caused by other guests, I expressed my concerns and requested a cancellation and refund. The hotel offered an alternative solution by moving me to another room. However, the experience in the new room was even worse, as the noise levels persisted and disrupted my sleep further. As a guest, I believe it is essential for a hotel to maintain an environment conducive to rest and tranquility, especially during nighttime hours. While the hotel's staff was responsive to my concerns, the noise issue was not effectively resolved, ultimately leading to an unpleasant experience. I sincerely hope that the management addresses the noise control concerns promptly. It is my belief that by prioritizing the peaceful enjoyment of all guests, the hotel can provide a truly exceptional experience. I would recommend that the hotel management takes immediate measures to address this issue to ensure a restful and comfortable experience for all guests

Holiday Inn Sandton does every top notch! While their restaurant is being renovated they upgraded the view that came with the delicious meals. Rather than relocate the dining room to one of their spacious internal conference rooms, they moved it to offer all diners the ”best seat in the house.” Starting the day with these views was inspiring and energizing. But the real boost of confidence comes in knowing I was staying where everything matters to this team as much as it does to me. See you again soon!

Best fresh fruit at breakfast I have had in a long time! I was very well looked after by Sam, Janine, Patricia and Sally - they made me most comfortable. My room was spacious, well appointed and kept in immaculate condition by Patricia and Sally. I would strongly recommend Houghton Place to any visitor.

Probably one of the nicest hotels that we have ever stayed at. The hotel itself, the room and surroundings were beautiful, but what made it even more special were the staff. From the moment we arrived at the hotel to the moment we left, nothing but happy smiling faces who were more than eager to help us in any way. A very special place.

Holiday Inn rosebank hotel is located at the center of rosebank and there is a gautrain station just in front of the hotel entrance and also you can access to the rosebank mall directly from the hotel. The entire team on this hotel was super friendly always willing to welcome the guests with pleasure. Breakfast on the 2nd floor served by variety of food selection of which including a cheese plate and an egg station was just enough to boost energy to start up the day. The food served from the hotel restaurant was with a reasonable price so that I could enjoy delicious food without going out for dinner. I would definitely say that it's worth the money to stay in this place. Although I had a concern about the city Johannesburg before the trip but at least in this rosebank area which was totally safe to hang out and walk around the streets with no stress. I had such a great experience in Johannesburg and willing to come back in the future. Thank you once again to leave this beautiful country with good memories. It's was such a pleasure to stay here.

For the rate charged at this hotel, I expect more than one 200ml bottle of still water for 2 guests in the room. The biggest issue is breakfast. Very basic, poorly prepared food. A toaster that requires you to put bread through 4 times. A manager that tells you nothing much is being done now because they are waiting to renovate. When we got up in the middle of our breakfast to get more food items, our table was cleared of all food, juice and freshly poured coffee. Poor management at the restaurant

The door opening mobile phone provided by the hotel should be fully charged in advance to avoid the embarrassment that the door cannot be opened when entering the door.
