This is a very nice hotel although it is in a very busy street. We arrived and there was nowhere to park in the street - it was valet parking but it felt very rushed to get things out of the car so they could take it away. The reception area is very nice with large pictures on the wall the bar area is nice too. The staff in the reception were very friendly and helpful. The pool was nice but it goes into shade completely in the late afternoon. I swum both days in the shaded pool and although it was cold it was refreshing. It was easy to get in with steps and a rail. Towels were available from reception. Our room was huge and the bed was very comfortable. The pillows were lovely. The view was just of the street at the front. The bathroom was nice with a reasonable amount of space. There was complementary water in the room. There was a fairly big restaurant for breakfast. Service was very slow and not very friendly. There where lots of basic items missing from the table - butter, salt and pepper, some cutlery etc and we had to ask for all of these things. The eggs were really hard on the first morning and not cooked in the way I had asked. Apart from the breakfast service I would recommend this hotel.

This is a lovely hotel. Our bedroom was very spacious. It was on the ground floor with a little private garden. The bathroom was fabulous with a round bath tub. Robes and slippers provided. Tea, coffee and mini bar in the room. We had a lovely welcome from the staff. The staff were excellent throughout and really helpful with local restaurant recommendations and directions. I would completely recommend this hotel. The location could not have been better. It’s in a small side street so very quiet but a two minute walk to all the shops and restaurants. Perfect.

We stayed as a family of 5 , 3 rooms for 2 nights whilst doing wine tours . The accommodation is modern, clean and adequate for a short stay . The rooms are on the small side and the bathroom is cramped . There is no room to store anything or put anything by the sink but otherwise ok .The breakfasts were satisfactory and well presented considering the small breakfast area. The staff friendly and helpful with our enquiries. Its well situated for all touring however the big let down is the roof terrace . We intended to relax and have pre dinner drinks but we didn't ; we shared the same view as other travellers we met . The hotel sells itself on its views from the roof terrace. our first and only visit was a disappointment , it is dirty , in need of housekeeping and redecorating looking neglected and shabby . The furniture is dirty and strewn around . The view is obscured partially by expanding roof tops and solar panels , not as illustrated in the brochures . This was a big disappointment as this is why we chose this hotel . The rest of the hotel was well maintained and staff nice .FYI the safe is too small to store laptops just about could lock up a camera.

Very funky apartment block, with safe underground parking. It's not an easy walk to town, about 1,8km away from the nice restaurants and shops. Powerful aircon in the lounge, unfortunately the rooms are a bit stuffy. Noisy student apartment block - I would probably not recommend it for couples or families. Made a booking through Booking.com, and although the site guaranteed our booking 100% with our 50% pre-payment, I received an email from the venue 2 hours before check-in to say our booking will be cancelled if we don't make another 50% payment immediately. They came back very apologetically once I pointed out the terms and conditions from the Booking.com site, but I felt this client interaction was unprofessionally done and needs work.

Rivierbos is situated directly off the main road in Stellenbosch, it is essentially the best location for its price. You can walk anywhere you need to (everything is literally a stones throw away). The accommodation is pretty much exactly like the photo's, very much a "what you see is what you get". That being said, the rooms were smaller than I imagined and similarly with the bathroom. You are provided with soap and shampoo and a showercap Breakfast is a wonderful arrangement of various foods, from fresh fruit to fresh farm bread, cooked breakfast (bacon, eggs, tomato, sausage, mushrooms), pastries, jams, and a small selection of ham and cheeses. The breakfast was quite honestly the best part of the stay. I felt like this could be streamlined, as the first morning despite there only being 3 tables it took forever for us to be asked if we wanted a cooked breakfast (and eventually we just ate some croissants and went about our day). The second day was much better with the (Owner? Manager? Running between the guests and the kitchen giving the guests orders to the kitchen) Rooms are situated right next to each other and noise can be a problem. I wouldn't recommend staying here if you are going to be staying in your room a lot (although why would you when there's a million things to do in Stellies) Three disappointing aspects were that our room looked directly onto the washing line outside, so there was a noise factor no matter what (other guests plus the laundry), as a result we also had to keep our curtains closed permanently so no one could see us / see into our room. Secondly, and a little odd, but we were only provided with one roll of toilet paper (which would have been sufficient) had my partner not had a stomach bug and the front office closed at 9pm so we just had to do without. And lastly there were renovations being taken place in the room next to us at 7:30am in the morning, which is just ridiculous. Not just renovations but anglegrinding and banging. This 100% ruined my mornings (breakfast did make up for it) but I just can't fathom why renovations would be done, in peak season (or placing guests next to that room), and so early in the morning. Breakfast finished at 10 and check out was 11am (Check ins at 2) there was absolutely no reason why they couldn't have started at 9am or after. Other than the above, it was amazing accommodation and perfect for our 2 night stay. It was clean, affordable, perfect location and best breakfast of my life

And if you can’t, I think you should reconfigure your trip to stay in a different town. Full disclosure: we only stayed here one night and liked that it was closer to restaurants than the other Marriott Protea, but we were very happy to not have to stay a second night. This should sum it up for us: they give out free sherry in the lobby (which was delicious), but I still joke that it was the only way that they can help people make it through the night. This may come across a bit harsh, but hear me out here... -“Not a modern hotel” was called out in a previous review - I would say this is old and hasn’t been updated since the 80’s or 90’s. We got “upgraded” to a two-level room, and I’m pretty sure that we stayed in a barn. (The bathroom upstairs didn’t have a ceiling or door, the one downstairs had a shower that didn’t drain.) The bed wasn’t too bad, but I definitely did not sleep well. -There is not a gym. The closest one is in the mall 10-15 minutes away, and you have to pay a guest fee. -The neighborhood isn’t great, so they’ve got security and a gate at all times. (This is a plus on this review.) However, this is walking distance to the downtown area, as long as you’re not too squeamish. (We felt perfectly safe, but who knows.) -Breakfast is not included - as a Titanium Elite, you can get the Continental breakfast instead of your welcome points, but then you need to pay an up charge to get anything warm. (The restaurant looked nice, but we did not eat there.) -As noted in other reviews, the “pool” is not great and calling it a “spa” seems a bit of a stretch. -We changed our plans about a month out and cancelled our old reservation, but for some reason they reinstated our reservation for a different day. When we arrived, they debated us for the first day on whether or not we actually cancelled it. They ended up taking it off after we showed them the cancellation confirmation multiple times, but not before they made it seem like it was our fault.

It's difficult to know where to start with the compliments.... From start to finish this was easily one of the best places we have ever stayed. We stayed in a suite room "Zorgvliet" which was stunning in every way. The views were indescribable from both the room and the private balcony with comfortable loungers; huge and comfortable bed; gorgeous bathroom with soft towels and refillable toiletries (so pleased to not have to throw away tiny plastic bottles!). Homemade biscuits every day, Nespresso machine, fabulous mini bar and ice easily requested from reception. Our room opened onto a lovely pool which was a sun trap with loungers. Breakfast was outstanding, plenty of special options for continental style with lots of fresh fruit and cereal. A good range of tasty hot options were provided, cooked to order. We walked down to neighbouring vineyards for lunches and wine tasting, a short distance aided by a helpful "walking and wining" map provided on check in. Reception were helpful and friendly and booked us a reservation in a great restaurant in Stellenbosch at the last minute one evening. If we are lucky enough to return to SA we will definitely return, and if not then we will certainly be strongly recommending to family and friends.

Traveling under the Covid restrictions is not a pleasant experience, but trying times & the exceptional staff that makes all this possible. The rooms are superbly cleaned, comfortable & quiet, easy to get a good nights rest & continue under these circumstances. Breakfast was made possible, although unconventional. All the complimentary stuff was missed, but understandably so. Every need & question was answered with a smile.

We stayed here for 2 nights recently and wish we could have stayed for longer. Michelle was so welcoming despite the fact that we arrived much later than expected. The room was spacious, beautifully clean and we loved having the pool right outside. The sparkling wine was a great extra which we enjoyed by the pool. Michelle was very helpful in recommending places to go to eat and explore. We spent a lovely day in Jonkershoek Nature Reserve. Would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful oasis to stay at.

The hotel is quite pretty and easy to access, but unfortunately the the communication and values are disappointing. My partner contacted them beforehand to organize a few birthday surprises. They replanned the booking without asking. We then had a fancy dinner at the hotel, which we didn‘t know was by some Star Chef and therefore unreasonable prized - moreover we do not agree to serve one bite starters on half a pumpkin as a plate, which will then be thrown away in a Country where people starve every day. Since the Spa and Dinner was planned for my birthday surprise they were asked to put those things on a different invoice... did not happen, everything landed on one, which I had to sign due to the fact that we booked the hotel with my card beforehand. If you stay there, ask them to not stay in room 3. You are very much on display. We recommend to not ask for a Special breakfast, the normal breakfast is just fine and not different to the other. They didnˋt have this ‚specialnessˋ other hotels have if you ask them for a birthday breakfast - ...or to just stay happy Birthday.

I'm so happy to post this review because I will always think kindly of our stay at Bonne Esperence Guest House. We stayed in Apt #1 which had a lovely large comfy bed, a small kitchenette with microwave, fridge, kettle and sink, and a clean and lovely bathroom. It was all very tastefully decorated and clean. Bonne Esperance is well located. We had a nice lunch at the botanic garden only a block away, and several more blocks away we had a delicious dinner at Hussar's Grill. The buffet breakfast was also delicious. The very best aspect of this stay was the staff. We arrived at the start of the shutdown due to COVID-19 and they were very welcoming and helpful. We stayed at Baruch on Lovell for two nights over the NYE period. It was simply perfect, from the helpfulness of the staff to the attention to detail of the room decor and the cleaniness of every area both inside and outside the room. Our room had direct access to a lovely swimming pool and the bathroom was very spacious. The Guesthouse was very secure and nicely located in Stellenbosch, only a short drive to many of the great wineries in the area. The continental breakfast was lovely, the service impeccable! It's hard to complain about anything: Exellent service, lovely room (no. 14), great location. We stayed eight nighs and felt almost as a member of the "family". The guest house is in a historic building and very cosy. Lovely to sit on the veranda at breakfast. We only had cold breakfast (don't like it hot), and that was sufficient for us. Fresh fruit salad could have topped the experience. At booking it was very important that we could walk to restaurants in the evening and feel safe. And so it is. Nearest restaurant is about 300 meters away from the guest house, and we felt very safe. Good to be a little away from the more noisy restaurant area. Plenty of lovely restaurants within short walking distance.

My wife and I booked at the Lodge for two nights as part of a winelands walking tour. We arrived each day tired and hungry and left each morning totally refreshed and nourished with one of the best breakfast buffets we have ever seen. The beds were perfect, and rooms were absolutely quiet. The best part of our stay, however, were the three hosts: the nicest people you will ever meet, who were sooo helpful and cheerful. There were two of us in a room and only one of us was allowed a key. Since we didn't travel together, I constantly had to ask for a key from the front desk upon my return to the room. It wouldn't have been a problem if a) they were there regularly - many times I had to wait a long time to find someone and b) if they didn't try to tell me I had not returned the key and they didn't have one. I was blamed for losing a key I never received in the first place. The room was satisfactory although the lock on the door seemed very easy to pick - it was very loose. Food items stored in the fridge consistently disappeared so don't bother storing your food there - only buy what you need. The communal areas (both outside and inside) is quite large and accommodating. It is a few blocks from true downtown and easy access.

Had the last 2 nights here on a whirlwind trip to the Cape Town area. Set up in the mountains 10/15 outside Stellenbosch, Clouds is a lovely peaceful estate with fabulous panoramic views. We had a very comfortable room to the side of the property allowing to see outside on the decking taking in the scenery. Lovely staff to talk to and really good food. We were winding down so chose to eat in the restaurant both nights and the food was that good I question why so many seem so keen to rush next door to the De Graff and miss out on what is probably a far more affordable evening. Also during our stay had a bottle of each of Clouds Chenin and Sauvignon Blanc and a Shiraz with our beef fillet, all high quality. We can only recommend a stay.If you do have a walk across the road to Tokara and Thelema wine estates, both lovely but Thelema was probably in the top 3 of estates we visited whilst on holiday. I have suggested in the summary that the hotel is in the luxurious category to stay in, and in terms of a stay it is, but the price range is a lot lower than others in the area. I have suggested the hotel

This was a Perfect Stay! Hospitality at this place is like no other and anyone who has been here I'm sure would attest to that. To begin with, the place is beautiful- the rooms are nice and spacious. The location is on a beautiful street where we would go jogging in the morning before going to the wineries. Now comes the hospitality part, JJ & Ricky made our stay so memorable. They were very hospitable and genuinely cared about making our stay as enjoyable as it could be. Breakfast was fantastic, but Dinner was something else. After a long day out we just wanted to stay in and watch movies and we thought about ordering pizza to come and deliver. JJ & Ricky insisted to not order the pizza and have dinner with them. They brought a 3course meal to our room, beautifully setup and it was some experience. I will never forget that. Made sure to take a quick selfie of us. This truly is a Perfect Stay and would highly recommend this place to anyone.

A very relaxed guesthouse with 8 rooms and a great garden. In contrast to many B & B's in South Africa, the pool was big enough to swim in. Our room (6) was spacious with all amenities (Tea, coffee, airco, good hairdryer etc..) The breakfasts were made fresh, to order - reminded us of Australia with delicious items such as crushed avocado on sourdough with eggs or salmon etc.. Fiona kindly booked us in for dinner and restaurants were within a good walking distance (20 minutes) - we also felt very safe here. Very luxurious hotel of approx 55 rooms. It was bigger than we were expecting but we had a lovely room - decorated to a very high standard with a huge comfortable bed. Complimentary mini bar and snacks is a nice touch along with bottle of wine and chocolates. Breakfast was delicious with a very nice hot menu option. Gym is really good with stunning views next to the spa over the mountains. Spa was lovely and enjoyed some good massages. Deli has great food and they’ll package it up and send it up to the pool if that’s where you’re sitting. Great selection of cakes. Pool menu is limited and service is slow , as is the deli. Pool itself is gorgeous, big and refreshing. Hotel has beautiful grounds and very well kept gardens. We ate at taphius one night. It says it’s a casual dining option but it isn’t - they still serve the food in a very fancy way. One thing we didn’t love was all of the day visitors coming for wine tasting and lunch, wandering around the grounds and property - doesn’t make it feel very exclusive for hotel guests who have paid several hundred to stay there a night. Would be nice if they could create some more exclusive areas just for hotel guests eg a smaller deli/ bar. Did wine tasting but were a bit unimpressed by how slow the service was. Would recommend visiting tokara for a drink with a view.

My wife and I had our wedding ceremony at the Le Franschoek Hotel and Spa on the 24th of October 2020. We decided to have our wedding at this hotel after searching for a Cape Wineland's themes venue and we were very lucky to come across this amazing Franschoek destination hotel. From the start we were taken care of by the Hotels onsite and full time Function and Banquet Manager: Portia Africa. Portia was an unbelievable help and the wedding would not have been possible without all her help. Organizing a wedding from a different province was made so easy with Portia's high level of professionalism and her extensive experience in event planning and management was certainly evident. Thank you Portia for helping us have the PERFECT wedding. The hotel was very accommodating with the use of outside suppliers for Decor and Flowers and the different service providers worked seamlessly. The Hotels, has 2 venue rooms both very luxurious in decor and very luxurious in the views that they offer. The view from the glass house venue on to mountain is absolutely priceless. The catering and food is also top notch and will have you guests asking for more:D The hotels's catering team offers drop plate service with enough staff and bar tenders on duty to ensure that the guests were served as promptly and professionally as needed. For our wedding we were permanently assisted by the Beverage and Catering Manager: Alex. Throughout the entire wedding evening Alex was always there to ensure that we were satisfied with the food ordered, ensuring that the timeline was in sync with the Kitchen's planning and also ensuring that the bar tab were being used for the intended purposes. Thank you very much Alex. The night was so seamlessly well run because of your expertise. Portia and Alex truly went the extra mile to make sure we as the bridal couple and all our guests were happy and comfortable. Portia even arranged package promotional prices for rooms offering great value room rates for guests. The rooms were fantastic, clean and serviced. The concierge was fantastic handling special requests and was open 24 hours which greatly assisted some guests looking for a room in the early hours of the morning. I can highly and without a doubt recommend this Hotel as a Wedding Venue. The atmosphere, views and service from Portia, Alex and Chris is truly best in class and cannot even be compared to some of the more mainstream wedding venues in the area. This Hotel and the managers there is a HIDDEN GEM!! Thank you Le Franschoek we will be back next year for an anniversary stay. P&R

Each year I have the privilege of staying at Webersburg Wine Estate, not too far from home, but the perfect place to go and feel as though you're in another world. Webersburg Wine Estate boasts the most beautiful scenery, it has a tranquil and elegant feeling, also home to some majestic Buffalo and other wildlife. I've been lucky enough to stay in a few of the different guest cottages, which are each uniquely beautiful. Each cottage is luxuriously comfortable with amazing surroundings. Our host Fred has been fantastic and extremely accommodating, friendly and informative. He made sure that we were comfortable and happy. Definitely not the establishment you'd skip if you're in the area, looking for some amazing food or over night stay. Thank you Webersburg, it is always a pleasure to stay with you. I look forward to my next visit.

Very nice accommodation in the heart of stellenbosch. Run by two lovely ladies who will make you feel at home for sure. Our room was a good size with a large bathroom and also a small terrace overlooking a garden. Breakfast is cooked to order with a continental option. Everything is only a two or five minute walk from the property. Would definitely stay again.

My wife and I escaped for a night over the weekend to The Beautiful South in Stellenbosch. We arrived on a very wintery Cape Town afternoon and we were thankful to be welcomed by Ryan, the Inn Keeper, who had ensured that our room was very toasty, to warm us up. We were then treated to some complimentary hot coffee, tea and complimentary ‘treats’ in the incredible main Chandelier Room, which had delightful music serenading us in the background. The next morning, after a very comfortable sleep in 5 star linen and a great shower, we ventured down to breakfast. We chose Eggs Benedict and a hot English breakfast from the menu, which was better than most five star hotels. After breakfast we said our farewells and were sad to leave to get back to Cape Town, but we will return in the summer when we can make use of the braai area and swimming pool. A special mention to Ryan as he really went out of his way to ensure a five star service. The Beautiful South is indeed so aptly named. Beautiful being the best way to describe it.
