Family of 4 - Kids aged 10 and 5. We stayed in a Superior Cottage at Santa Claus Village for a week, and it was absolutely magical! The cabin was very clean and had a private sauna. 4 of us stayed in there, so we used the pull out lounge for the kids each night. It was very comfortable and the cabin has floor heating, so it's really cosy. The cabins are set back from the road, so they're nice and quiet. There are lots of ice sculptures and lights to see, along with Santas house, reindeer and Snowman World. Dinner and breakfast was included. Dinner was basic bistro food, but breakfast was a glorious buffet of the loveliest, freshest food. A huge selection of food to choose from. There are little sleds around everywhere, and the children loved being towed around everywhere in them. The staff are always friendly and helpful. They helped us book a cooking class with Mrs Claus which the children loved. We also visited Elfs farm, which is great for little kids, they can feed the little reindeer and rabbits, and there are cross country skis to try out. The tourists do flock into the village at about 9am, but we had excursions booked each day with Lapland Adventures, so by the time we arrived back, the hoards were gone again. I would definitely recommend a trip here. It's truly once in a lifetime. NB It's seems that when reviewing Santa Claus Village, people have mixed this place up with SANTALAND. Please do not confuse the two. Santaland is an atrocious abomination that shouldn't be running. It's poorly operated, overpriced, boring, the lines are long and I was actually embarrassed to have taken my family there. Santa Claus Village is wonderful and thoroughly magical.

Greetings from the sunny LA! :D I had such a pleasant stay at Santa's Igloos with my boyfriend to celebrate our engagement. I checked the reviews and were a bit skeptical of the place, but turn out, it was amazing and I believe those bad reviews were just from people who were too demanding. We got such good luck to get to check in at 14.00 already as the lovely man by the reception (Min or ming?, I am sorry, I don't remember your name correctly) informed that the igloo is ready and helped us with the luggage to the igloos, even though he were having his indoor shoes. Our igloo was with sauna and we truly did have very good time enjoying it. We even went outside, jumping to the snow and it was so much fun. The fireplace was such a great addition, with marshmallows on top of it. Food-wise, it was really good. We had to wait a bit long though since there was big group. The best part was the staff. They truly knew the place very well and very informative. We felt that the service was really excellent, probably the best so far in our trip. We met 3 receptionists in total (1 was the guy who checked us in and 2 other lovely ladies) and they were helping us during our stay, like a lot. They tried to help us with the problem. We had our tv not working, but they tried their best and we truly appreciated it. The waiters were so attentive. If there could be one or two things to change, it would be that breakfast could be more diverse, and Auroras (but of course, this is not the hotel's fault since it's nature). And we also didn't know we had to book the shuttle service one week in advance of our check in dya so we missed that one :( Prices were also a bit too much though. In general, we love this place so much. Keep up the good work and big applause to the staff whom we met (if we could remember all the names, we would list them here). Definitely we are planning to come back for sure! This is our trip before our marriage, so we know now where to go for our honeymoon next year

Christmas Cottages. We travelled as a family of 5 through TUI and were assigned chalet 66. It was a bit of a struggle getting luggage there (including massive sacks filled with the provided thermal clothing) but were lucky enough to have one hotel sledge to help. The cottages are fairly basic but ideal for your needs (well and iron would have been nice). There were two single beds upstairs and off the living room downstairs, two single beds and two pull down beds. The pull down beds made me loose sleep as they only have a small bar in the middle and my kids could’ve easily rolled out the bed and it was some way to the floor, so I slept in one of the singles below and woke every time they moved .... The sauna was great particularly for using the excess heat to dry the clothing for the next day! Very small kitchen area but has everything you’d need for a few days - I had a few things with me snack wise and didn’t have to visit a store. The reception area has a nice bar for snacks and off this is the dining room for breakfast and dinner - both these meals are buffet style and if your kids are a little fussy they’ll probably survive on fries for their evening meal (well mine did!). We got to play with the sledges round about the reception building and close to the ski centre, the kids loved this. It was very quiet round the ski centre during the day and did feel like an escape from the outside world. We did go into the centre of town and staying out at the cottages (5 minutes drive) really gave us a much better experience, in my opinion. Lucky enough to have extra sledges for check out for our luggage! Would definitely recommend Christmas Cottages if you are looking for that lodge type feel rather than a hotel.

Spent a birthday visit in Rovaniemi to see and feel surrounded by the Lapland winter splendor. Not disappointed! Our modern, clean room had a floor to ceiling window that looked out onto the snow-covered, tree filled mountain. I loved the color palate and simplicity of the room’s design that is quintessentially Finland. And don’t get me started on the sauna- while some might find it strange that the sauna has a glass wall open to the bedroom-the ingenious design allows for access to that amazing view (there are curtains for privacy if needed). The hotel service was friendly, professional, and helpful. The cafe was perfect for light meals/snacks and a drink at the bar, we recommend trying the local Cloudberry liqueur. The Sky Kitchen’s menu, dining room, and view were an amazing 5 star experience. We didn’t rent a car, but found the local taxi/shared ride service were easily accessed (we used the shared ride app ‘Menevä’). Lastly, the slopes are steps away from the front door- we got a courtesy ride down to the base to rent our skis.

This place is enchanting. We've traveled in March 2019 with my family including 2 children age 8 and 2. Safartica is the company managing this property. They offered to us the best customer service and fulfill every request we had to ask. We took the train from Helsinki to Rovaniemi. Another beautiful experience for the kids. We reserved two cabins with bunk beds, bathroom and shower. Very comfortable. You can book the train online (IC265 going up and IC266 going back to Helsinki). You can fly as well if you don't like the train. The chalet is just fantastic. 3 bedrooms with 6 beds, full kitchen, 2 bathroom, one with inside sauna. Washer and dryer. Cozy Fireplace. Just all you need to live like home. The hotel Sky Ounaasvaaran is at walking distance, were you can use their restaurant or just spend few hours having a drink. Also Grocery market is 20-25 minutes walking. Plenty of tours available. It is cold but surprisingly not as cold as we thought. Helsinki was much colder. Visit the close Santa Claus village (20-25 Euros by taxi). You can cross the Arctic Circle line right there. Husky and reindeer tour available at extra cost. Meet with Santa (free entrance, but then they offer pictures and video at extra cost if you want to purchase). Send my messages if you want to know more.

We have just stayed in this amazing apartment for my partners 40th birthday celebration and will be returning for sure. The location is perfect if you just want to relax, and is close to all excursions/activities that you may want to do. Also, close to the local supermarkets if you want to grab your groceries and cook indoors. This apartment is located on the river front, with exceptional picturesque views, and the facilities within, second to none. Even has its own sauna!!!. Yes, we stayed here during the winter, and thoroughly enjoyed everything about our stay, however we are told the summer here is just as amazing. The owner(Tohir) could not do enough for us and made us feel so welcome. If we needed anything at all, even a lift to one of the attractions, he assisted with it all. On our arrival, he collected us from the airport and took us to the apartment, even made a real nice gesture of providing flowers, a bottle of bubbly and chocolates, for my partners birthday. We did read the reviews before we booked, and people’s comments regarding the need for a car, however everything is in walking distance, if you don’t mind a walk, taking in all the amazing views at the same time. Yes, some of the attractions are 3-4 miles away, so some may feel that a little too far. If you fancy a husky safari, the husky farm in Santa’s village is real value(40 euros per adult) for money, as we looked on all websites which were quoting between 130 and 200 euros per adult, for similar safaris. All in all, we could not fault anything about the apartment, location or the lovely country of Finland and it’s extremely friendly people. We will be back once again for sure. Thank you Tohir for your hospitality and making us feel welcome.

I stayed at the hotel for 6 nights as part of a winter safari trip in Lapland. Nice hotel with very kind staff. The lobby is a bit small, but it doesn't bother. The hotel is a short walk from the city center. A short walk away is the river (which is frozen in winter) and along its pleasant walk. There are pubs and restaurants near the hotel. The hotel room is a bit small for a couple but for a single is really good. It was clean and every morning made sure to make the bed (which was comfortable). The shower and toilet are clean and I really enjoyed the heating. It is possible to open a small window to let in fresh air but it causes the room to cool. The breakfasts and dinners at the hotel were rich and delicious. I was pleasantly surprised to find chocolate in the coffee / tea corner. I really liked the sauna. It's just a pity there's no timer inside to know how long they've been there. Definitely a recommended hotel

We stayed here 3 nights, a group of 8, 4 rooms. We had wanted to stay at another hotel that was sold out. I’m glad. This place was great. We took the overnight train to Rovaniemi. We got to hotel around noon, the rooms were ready which is always a happy welcome. The rooms were very comfortable, basic hotel room. King bed, mini bar with fridge, nice size bathroom. We each had a balcony, but it being in the 20s outside we only used it to keep beer cold! Breakfast was included. It was a Buffett. Very large variety, cereals, waffles, cheese, meats, eggs, yogurt, juices, coffee, teas. The location was great. We could easily walk to bars, restaurants, a little mall that had a market and liquor store.

Did not pay attention to the order details, in fact, the title was written: Koskikatu 41-43 (Check-in: Santa's Hotel Santa Claus, Korkalonkatu 29, 96200 Rovaniemi), is the need to go to the main store in the city center to check in and take the keys. The accommodation building is an electronic access control system that requires a room card and a door card. There is also an electronic intercom system that can be called at the head office of the general store, which is convenient. Under the accommodation building is the "Greater China" Chinese restaurant. However, the neighborhood is relatively deserted, 5 minutes walk from downtown, 2 distances from traffic lights. We live on the third floor, there is an elevator upstairs, look out the window, the surrounding houses are not high, the view is wide. The rooms are medium in size and the bathrooms are medium in size.

We had a nice visit is this Scandic hotel and had a good sleep. We arrived after a morning flight from Helsinki and our room was not ready, but we were able to leave our luggage to storage and we walked around the city and did some shopping. After finding some good bargains and good lunch our room was available and we rested some in the room. Room was nice and clean and were satisfied. The breakfast was very good and we were ready to drive to Saariselkä. We got some extra service when checking out. I forgot to mention when checking in that I am Level 2 member but the nice person adjusted the price for me. I also got the key for the rental car from her, so there was no need to check the Hertz office.

We stayed here for one night in their basic room, but their cheapest basic room equals to a suite or atleast junior suite level of most other hotels in Finland! The lobby was very elegant and they really had payed attention to details in their interior design. The same thing applies to the room itself. 10/10 for the room decor and design! The room was very big too, with a real living room, work desk, huge closets, big bathroom, great samsung smart tv, probably 50-55 inch and a big double bed. The only downside was the pillows and duvets. Pillows were ballfiber, instead of microfibee which I would have expected from this level of a hotel. The duvet was heavy but not airy. Otherwise everything was absolutely fabrastic! Even the staff was one of the frinedliest and most elegabt ones I have met in the whole country. Yes this hotel is a bit on the pricier side but it was worth every penny!

My friend and I booked this lodging with our two children on AirBnB. We initially had another less personal location booked as a place holder, and could not believe our luck when this super-host, highly-rated, location became available. The gorgeous historic wooden lodge is chock full of simple, Scandinavian charm, and located less than 15 minutes walk to Rovaniemi's town center, the Arktikum and Pilke museums, restaurants, and the bus and taxi stop. We booked the only available room left, with 9 beds! The kids loved the bunk beds and the cozy hideaway where they retreated with their tablets and to throw stuffed animals on unsuspecting parents. It was nice to have a fridge and stove and a large table for meals when little ones were tired of the cold (and frankly parents were too). We loved the sledges available free for use as we discovered its much easier to pull kids through the snow on them than to have them dawdle and jump into every snowbank. The staff were very helpful and kind, ready to provide assistance and information. The 5 euro laundry was a great deal. We only wish there had been a toaster and more counter space in the small kitchen area; and also more space in the left luggage -- on our final day about 4 families checked out at the same time with either 6 PM flights or the 6 PM train and others were checking in and the small space filled up very fast. Overall a fantastic place.

Having been to Finnish Lapland a couple of times prior to this trip, we decided to give the Arctic Guesthouse and Igloos a try. Situated just 1 hour drive from Rovaniemi, the drive is straightforward. For those not wanting to drive, there's a bus option and in the foreseeable future, a shuttle pick up direct from the airport to the Arctic Guesthouse and Igloos. Upon arrival we were greeted by Auvo, our host, and Tuomas, an employee. Although Auvo is a non-English speaker, with the help of Tuomas we were able to communicate effectively....we also used Google Translate. Our overnight accommodation would be the amazing and futuristic looking glass igloos. As we are a family of four, and as the igloos only sleep two; we were split between two igloos. Mummy and Matilda (5) in igloo one, and Daddy and Lily-Belle (11) in igloo two. The first thing to note is that the igloos are superbly insulated and toasty warm, with digital controls so you can set your own desired temperature. The igloos are excellent, and really different from what we expected, extremely modern with LED lighting, a Bluetooth speaker to connect mobile devices, WiFi....that's right, WiFi, usb sockets for charging, futuristic digital light switches, a console that tells you the temperature, humidity etc and much more. Main compartment has a very comfortable double bed, with duvet, pillows and a furry throw, towels are provided. The views through the five glass panels are panoramic. And if you want a bit of privacy, no problem....just draw the curtains, lie back and look at the stars through the glass paneled roof. The sky was dark and gloomy and we knew there would be zero chance of seeing the Northern Lights...but that wouldn't stop us enjoying our time at Arctic Guesthouse and Igloos. There's a small loo but do beware..upon entry I banged my head on more than one occasion. A little kitchenette but little does not mean inadequate, on the contrary...there's so much cupboard space and everything you could possibly need within; such as a kettle, 2 ring gas hob, kitchen roll, wipes, cleaning products, glasses, cutlery and so on. And if you're worried about where to put luggage or hang clothing, don't be, the bed lifts up to provide masses of storage, and there are lots of hooks on the walls for hanging coats etc. In the ground there are a couple of plastic covers, open these and there's a fridge in one, and a fishing hole in the other...how cool, go fishing without leaving the warmth and comfort of the glass igloo. Once settled we made our way to the Arctic Guesthouse and Igloos reception for our evening meal. The dining area is traditional Lappish with lots of wood and although a little dated, it is clean, spacious and most importantly, warm and inviting. A variety of food was ordered and we have to say, the food was exceptional, in presentation, in quality and in taste....clean plates all around, and knowing how good the food was, we couldn't wait
