A great hotel for your next visit to Soldotna. The check-in was super smooth and the staff was really friendly. Took less than 2 minutes to check-in and head to the room with key. There are a lot of rooms at this hotel, but it was a very quiet location. The room was clean and had everything that was needed (TV, microwave, mini-fridge, cable, etc.) Nice size bathroom and as a nice added touch, there was a table with two chairs. Perfect for carry-out dinner in the room. The hotel was conveniently located next to a gas station with snacks, drinks and desserts. Everything you would want to see or do in Soldotna was just a few miles away at most. To top it off, there was plenty of free parking directly in front of the rooms. Check-out was fast and easy as well.

We went down to Soldotna and checked in at Aspen Hotel. The hotel is within the town of Soldotna, which gives you easy access to grocery stores like Carrs, and Fred Meyers. They also have multiple restaurants, coffee shops, and activities for the family. At the back side of the lake they have a walk way where you can go to and see the river. During the summer you’ll see several locals and tourist fishing for some salmons. This hotel does offer a complimentary breakfast if included in your package. We purchased our hotel stay through Expedia. The breakfast they provided was nothing much aside from waffles, selection of breads (such as beagles) juice, and coffee, cereal. They didn’t have any eggs, sausage or anything like that. But it’s still perk for a grab and go type of morning. The pool, gym are small but are available. They do have a laundry room on site if you need it. Other than all that, we enjoyed our stay... clean rooms, friendly staffs.

I flew into Anchorage then drove to Soldotna 2 weeks ago. Bad weather, bad time of year between Christmas and New Years. Icy roads and blowing snow for a 4 hour drive that should have taken 2.5. I just wanted a place to rest up for my apointment the next morning. First place I stoped (Aspen) coldn't find anyone to see if they had a room available. Next place down the road, almost next door was Anglers Inn. I was hesitant, that place used to be called Hoolagins (the name fit the clientel and employees) but what the heck it was cold, I was sick of driving. I parked and walked in, suprise, the interior looked nothing like it had under the old name, no one at the desk but there was a sign saying dial this number, I did and seconds later both the GM and Owner showed up to check me in, like it was a race or something. I got a basic room, I'm on the road a lot and just need a clean bed, bathroom and wifi. The room had an extra space heater but I didn't need it. Anglers Inn fit the bill. Room was clean, had a fride and microwave, I only used the fridge.. Attached restaurant "the Catch" has 2 dinner menu's the main one and one called "Comfort Food". I had chicken fried steak from the "Comfort Food" menu. I was tender, cut with a fork no need for the knife the brought with the food. My server was all smiles, after dinner I asked if they had anything sweet, I wanted sugar, she checked to see what was fresh, I choose the Apple Crisp and asked if it came with icecream ya it was cold outside but its icecream. She said "it could" so I ordered it. She smiled and said she would warm up the apple crisp then add icecream. Dinner was less than $35 including drink and tip. I was pleased. The hotel didn't have a lot of people, at least that was my impression but there were several tables of locals eating in the restaurant. Next morning at 8AM I was the only person eating, I had eggs, bacon, french toast and OJ. I sat at the table quite a while using wifi and working on my presentation for later in the day. By 9AM the place was filling up and by 9:30 it looked liked they would need my table soon so I left. Locals seem to like eating at the Catch attached to the hotel. My food both dinner and breakfast was good. I checked out of the hotel with no issues, they gave me a reciept as I left and emailed one to make my expence report easier when I got home. Vern the owner was there to check me out. So I delt with 2 servers, Eric the GM, Vern the owner. Next time I have to go to the Kenai Peninsila for work, I'll hopefully have time to make my reservation in advance and will defenenly stay at the Anglers Inn again.

I stayed here for two nights this summer while I was on a break working the Swan Lake Fire. Pretty much anything would seem top notch after spending a couple weeks on the ground, but I did truly enjoy my stay at the lodge. The price was reasonable and the room was comfortable. There are hooks outside of the lodge doors so you can leave wet gear hanging outside to dry. I enjoyed sitting on the docks that they have to fish from, you can literally fish right from the lodge. There is a variety of seating outside - benches, chairs and a swing, which is really nice. There is a bar at the lodge, I just went for one drink, and didn't eat. I would stay there again, it is super reasonable and homey.

It seems that when you reserve 2 rooms several months ahead of stay that those 2 rooms would at least be on the same floor..........NOT!! One was 1st floor room and one was 2nd floor room! Once again the room was just okay.....slightly shabby but comfortable bed. However, the 2nd day, housekeeping hardly touched our room. No soap, shampoo, etc left.....think that all was done was trash cans emptied. I paid the same amount both nights so why did I get shortchanged. Towels are terribly thin as is typical of Quality Inn's but we only got 2 towels for our King room. I had to go to front desk to get another towel to be able to dry my hair after showering. Breakfast had all the typical items.......bacon or sausage, eggs, waffle maker, toast, cereals, etc. but the servers were not kept full. Neither morning were we all able to have bacon/sausage as there were only a few pieces left at 8am......same with the eggs. I told the front desk girl about my concerns and she told me she would talk to the manager and see if they could add points to my account since I was displeased Platinum Choice Member. Nothing has happened with that. This was our second stay at this location and probably our last. Guess they feel they don't have to satisfy people from out of state since we may never be back in Alaska anyway.

When traveling around the Kenai Pennisula, you have a lot of activities in which you can partake, the result of which is you getting pretty tired. While in the area this last month my friends and I were able to stop and relax a bit, and recharge our batteries. We did this by staying at the Uptown Motel. This property is a small 2 story motel a short walk from a bluff that overlooks the mouth of the Kenai River. The rooms are nicely furnished, there are Kurig coffee makers in the room, a restaurant right off the lobby and a lounge in the next building over. The only complaint I would have would be the confusing controls for the shower. You have one control for the flow of the water, another for the temperature, and then to turn on the shower you need to pull down on a ring on the tub faucet spout. While not difficult once you figure it out, it can potentially take a few minutes to figure it out. The staff is top notch and very attentive, whether you need a new towel or directions to a close tourist site. I would recommend checking this place out when you're tired and need a day to rest up.

Being an airport hotel, we were expecting something large and impersonal. This is actually more like a small family run hotel and looks like a smart, large wood cabin. The downstairs rooms are motel style opening out onto the walkway around the hotel whilst the upstairs rooms are accessed from inside. The lobby is large and the staff friendly and helpful, although there seems to be a strict 3pm check-in policy applied regardless of whether or not your room is ready. Turn up earlier & you’ll be sent away. The room was well kitted out, clean and very comfortable, the only oddity being the hand basin in the bedroom rather than the bathroom. Lots of sockets, storage space and a comfortable chair with footstool to boot. Enjoyed our two-night stay and would recommend.
