This is a great place to stay for those who are tired of generic hotel chains. From outside, there are no signs and it looks like a typical French residence. Inside, there is a lobby and dining area on the first floor and the rooms can be accessed via spiral stairs. The room was large compared to the ones we experienced in hotel chains in France and beautifully decorated. The property is located on a pedestrian road and our room faced the courtyard so it was very quiet. The AC was quiet and the amenities in the bathroom were really nice. The staff who greeted us was also very friendly and gave us a list of recommended restaurants. We also had breakfast at the property and the prices were reasonable for the quality. The selection was somewhat small (coffee, hot chocolate, toast, two or three types of pastries, and yogurt topped with fruits) but the quality of the ingredients were excellent. That being said, we did notice some drawbacks. First, there were no elevators and the rooms were located starting from the “first floor (i.e., second floor for US standards)” so stairs are unavoidable. This was not a big issue for us but if you have mobility issues or have large luggages this may be a problem. Also, there were no refrigerators or safety deposit boxes in the room. Finally, the “front desk” was not staffed 24 hours so this may be problematic in the case of an emergency at night. Overall, we had a positive experience at this property and would recommend.

I appreciate that this hotel is only 2 star. It’s relatively cheap for a fantastic location in Aix. If cost and location are the main drivers for your choice - then I’m sure that this hotel will please you. For me, I wasn’t overly happy with the hotel. Previous reviews suggest that the decor is stylish - but I think that it could really do with revamping/replacing in parts. There was a really strong smell of rose water around the hotel and in our room, which I appreciate some guests may find pleasing but, again, it’s not for me. It could be that it depends which room that you stay in. Maybe some rooms are revamped and others are not? We stayed in room 21; the toilet seat was broken and the dust cover in the bed was really old and faded/browning. Having said all of this - it is cheap compared to other hotels in the town, so I suppose it seems unfair to expect more...it just wasn’t to my taste - but I’m sure it is to other’s.

This is a lovely hotel in a great location. The hotel provides a continental breakfast and an express breakfast which is brought to your room. The express breakfast was coffee, croissant and orange juice which suited us perfect. The hotel doesn’t have its own car park however there is public car parking about a 5 minute walk away which is very convenient. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable and clean. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Perfect location on the main strip of Centre Villa. Decent sized triple room. Great hot showers. Separate toilet and shower. Friendly helpful staff. Toiletries NOT replenished. Clean and tidy. Good continental breakfast also available in the room. Coffee machine accessible 24 hours. Hotel parking hard to find but once you get it - no problem. Staff are helpful and will get in car and go with you to the parking entry if necessary. Rooms are lovely and warm - needed to open the window to cool it down.

I have a terrific stay at Hotel Les Quatre des Dauphins. It's in a quiet area of the old town near the Cezanne Museum which is great for walking, dining, exploring and shopping. It's a small, quaint hotel. Nothing seemed like it was more than a 10 minute walk. The hotel is older with a lot of charm. I had booked a single room which was compact, but comfortable. It was an extremely warm summer in France and I was very thankful that the hotel is air conditioned which made me look forward to returning to my room. The staff were extremely friendly providing tourist information, dining suggestions and watched my luggage on my last day as I explored the city. There is no elevator so if you are traveling with bulky luggage or have mobility issues, sadly it's best to avoid this property. Getting to the hotel wasn't difficult. I took a bus from the Marseilles Airport which dropped me off at the Aix-en-Provence Bus Station. You could hop in a taxi to the hotel or walk in about 15 minutes. My US phone plan didn't allow for int'l usage. I downloaded the Sygic navigation app ahead of time which doesn't require internet access to use. I was able to use it to get from the bus station to the hotel without any issues.

The Saint Christophe has an ideal location, a block off the Cours Mirabeau and a five-minute walk from the bus station. We had the deluxe double room for a three-day stay in Aix, which included a huge en-suite bathroom with tub and shower, a separate nook for the toilet, and a balcony with a table and seating for four. Hotel staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. They allowed us to check in early and helped us arranged an early a.m. taxi ride to the Marseilles airport. Service in the lounge/restaurant was hit-or-miss, and there are many better dining options nearby. I liked the art-deco decor of the hotel, although some of the furnishings are showing their age. The elevator is very small and very slow.

I spent almost two weeks here in July 2020 and loved it. The grounds are beautiful and a great place for walks. Dinner at the “restaurant gastronomique” was a very pleasant experience, as were cocktails with my guests in the garden. I also appreciated that breakfast was brought every morning to my suite. This is a very dog-friendly environment, so the two weeks that I stayed there I spent a lot of relaxing time with my dog, which was lovely! Unfortunately the place is outside the city of Aix and just off a rather busy part of a motorway with nothing else around, which meant two things. You definitely need a car or you have to take a taxi at least once a day in order to get into town for shopping and social activities. And second, there are very limited options for walks with your dog around the hotel. The nearby village of Célony with its shops provided some sort of remedy for both of those issues (you can do some shopping there and walk your dog to the village and back to the hotel). Staff service throughout was much appreciated. Whatever they may have lacked in terms of “formal training” in the hotel industry, they more than made up for in terms of friendliness, kindness and sincere eagerness to provide good service. The fact that there weren’t many other people around when I stayed there certainly helped matters: the swimming pool was almost never busy, the tennis court and gym were almost always available, And a lot of the time it felt a bit like I had the entire place to myself! I’m not sure whether my experience would have been different had there been lots of people around all the time... But the place is definitely worth a try for its superb grounds, good facilities and great restaurant, offering guests the opportunity to relax in peace and quiet!

A lovely little apartment hotel in the centre of Aix, although once you're in your room on your balcony looking at the hills behind it's so peaceful you could be in the countryside! Well apointed for a little self catering break with dishwasher and cooking facilities and it was terrific having a pool on site to use. The room was clean and in good condition. Superb loation just a short walk from anywhere you could want to be in Aix. All the staff we encountered were super helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The parking was a real welcome bonus and we felt safe leaving our car for the stay (and it was reasonably priced) We will definitely revisit this hotel in the future!

Friendly, efficient staff. Very clean room, comfortable bed, quiet at night. Good, varied breakfast with quality ingredients. Good bread (not industrial) and good jams. Very convenient to downtown. Free parking. Some downsides: hotel is on a small incline, and so is parking. You are going up and down to the car and the street and the hotel. If you have trouble with small, rather steep hills, then you will have problems. We stayed in a "Comfort Room with Shower." The room was extremely small, and so was the shower. If you weigh over 180 lbs (81 k) and are over 5'10" (1.8 m) tall, you will have difficulty fitting and washing in the shower and your feet will probably extend over the bed. Perhaps other rooms are larger. All-in-all, a good place, but rather expensive for what you get.

The Villa Saint Ange is truly a wonderful hotel, but there are still a lot of small issues that have to be fixed. We had a Junior Suite and a normal double room. Our normal double room was especially made for people with disabilities like deafness, blindness and people in wheelchairs. This room has two bathrooms, one normal one with two sinks, a toilet, a big bathtub and a walk-in shower. The other bathroom is bigger, so a wheelchair can easily fit inside. Also, the shower is wider and the toilet has a handle bar to easily get on and off. The sink is lowered, so people in a wheelchair can still reach the sink, but there is no mirror which should be fixed. The room is nicely furnished and has an old, but fine touch to it. The bed is absolutely amazing! The mattress is very comfortable and guarantees a good night sleep, also, the pillows are very plush and all the linens have a nice smell. The same goes for the towels. The junior sweet is the same as above, just the room is a bit bigger, but there is no bathtub in the bathroom. The hotel is nice, but there still has to be many things fixed to make it a "true" 5 star hotel: - There should be a coffee and tea maker in every room which you would expect a 5 star hotel to have. Because there wasn't any, we ordered coffee to our rooms with some croissants. We ordered four times coffee with milk, but only once everything arrived at the same time. Once we had to call THREE times to get the missing hot milk, sugar and croissants which they didn't deliver directly. For an astonishing price of 56€ this should DEFINITELY not happen. - Water should be replenished every single day. On arrival, there was a complimentary bottle in our room, but it wasn't replaced even once during our stay. This is really not a big request and true 5 star hotel's do offer this. - Amenities such as Q-tips and cotton pads should be replaced without asking every day if needed. This wasn't really the case, so we always had to ask the cleaning staff for some extra. - In both rooms there was no hotel directory. I can understand that maybe this is not possible due to the current situation, but as an example there could be in every room a QR code which you can scan to see things like the TV channels, the room service menu and many more. This would really make the quality of service better. One last thing to say is that as we tried to consult somebody with our bad room service breakfast experience, one of the managers approached us with an very annoyed and aggressive attitude, as if we did something wrong. This person raised her tone against us and didn't want to solve our problem which made us feel very uncomfortable. This is definitely not the way to treat your guests at any hotel and is unacceptable. All in all I can say that this is still probably the best and nicest place to stay in Aix en Provence, even though it has several issues which need to be resolved. These requests are really nothing special and only then I would cons

Our family of 4 booked here on a whim at the last minute and I'm so glad we did. Nothing negative at all. Food in the restaurant was beyond amazing. Pool was beautiful and clean. The chateau itself was beautifully decorated and very clean and welcoming. The owner was beyond amazing. She helped with everything we needed and set up horse riding in Arles. She went above and beyond making us feel at home. I would come back just to stay here for a quiet week. We ended up staying 2 comfortable nights and wish we had longer. Make sure you save room for dinner outside. Beautiful setting. Waitstaff went out of their way to be helpful and our steak was cooked perfect.

It is a 5-minute walk from the centre of Aix-en-Provence. It is not a big town. Maintaining a five-star group standard, the front desk is very professional and enthusiastic. The restaurant is very professional and very good. Breakfast is rich and dinner is authentic. The room is extra large and the bathroom is extra large. In short, it is a five-star standard. It is great to recommend a trip to the city centre on a small train to learn about the history of this ancient city.

A very pleasant stay at the Hotel du Globe. Staff were helpful and friendly - their English was far better than my French! The room was nicely decorated and clean. Breakfast provided a good selection for a small hotel. For myself, having soya milk as an alternative was much appreciated but other options included fresh bread, cereals, dried fruit, facility to boil eggs, juices, coffee machine, fruit, meats and cheeses. Slightly unfortunately on the last day I was leaving around 6:45 when breakfast began but was able to get a hot drink before I checked out. Complimentary tea, instant coffee and sweet treats to help yourself to throughout the day in the downstairs area. About 15 minutes walk from the bus station with shuttle to Marseille Provence Airport. Everything was very well thought out and I would definitely return should I find myself in the area.
