I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Holiday Inn Express Wigan and was thoroughly impressed with my experience. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm and friendly service from the staff. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and well-appointed with all the amenities I needed for a pleasant stay. The bed was comfortable, the shower was hot, and the Wi-Fi was fast and reliable. The hotel also offers a complimentary breakfast each morning, which was a great way to start the day. The hotel was well positioned near the M6 with plenty of parking, I even noticed a destination charger for EVs. The staff were friendly and provided a great service. The room was spacious, clean and well equipped with sofa, writing desk, kettle, hairdryer and TV. The bed was firm, but comfortable and there were additional pillows available if needed. The room was well heated, but there was no air-conditioning; I stayed in the winter so this wasn’t an issue. The pub next door provided breakfast which were excellent, and also included a children’s play area for anyone with children. It also offered evening meals, great quality and filling portions. I look forward to staying here again.

We attended our friends wedding. The day was perfect from start to finish. The staff were all friendly. The wedding venue was stunning and the food was excellent. The room we stayed in was very modern and very clean. The bed was comfy too. The breakfast was really nice. I would definitely recommend this venue to other friends looking for a wedding venue or just to stay over after having a nice meal.

We spent New Years Eve and have to say, it was a brilliant way to bring in 2024. Our rooms were lovely. They were clean, and beautifully presented. When we arrived at the Blazers Suite for our Carvery Dinner, the staff had prepared a table really close by, as I had mentioned when booking that a member of my party was a bit unsteady on her feet. The receptionist said there would be somebody ready to help her to carry her hot meal, and there was a lovely member of staff at the back of the queue, who was more than happy to assist with choosing and carrying the plate to the table. The food was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the salmon and prawn starter, wrapped in the lightest pastry. The DJ was good, and the dance floor was packed all night. At midnight there was a rousing chorus of Auld Lang Syne. Only one little quibble, to knock a star off. I checked breakfast and check out times with the receptionist when we checked in. I had previously rang to check this information and was told breakfast 8-10am and check out 10.30am. I thought it worth another ask, as in previous hotels these were later, but the times were confirmed as above. I was surprised, therefore, to overhear the same receptionist mentioning a late check out to another guest as we were checking out. I queried this, and she confirmed both breakfast and check out were later, it being New Years Day. She said she had not been told about the change early enough, and apologised. After such an enjoyable evening, and a lovely breakfast, I was not in the mood to complain. However, the added half hour for breakfast and checkout would have meant we could spend a bit more time with my family, who had travelled from the Wirral to celebrate with us.
