|1.61km from city centerOnly stayed overnight. While a bit quirky like many old hotels, it has been well maintained and updated and was very clean,. The single room was of reasonable size with a small but well very appointed bathroom. Breakfast was generous and varied. Rather than abandon a breakfast buffet (like some other hotels) they have solved the problem by providing plastic gloves which guests must wear along with their masks when picking up food. The breakfast room itself is large, comfortable and I might add beautiful and elegant. Like some others I note that like many older hotels, it has very thin walls so that noise is an issue. They have attempted to lessen this with double glazing and two door entryways to each room. My only problem while staying there was that I could not get the in room nespresso to work but I am unsure whether the problem lay with the machine or with me.

|2.11km from city centerWe stayed 5 nights here - visiting Wurtzburg for a wedding. I booked it originally because it had a pool ( a must have when travelling with an 11 year old!) The hotel completely exceeded my expectations. The receptionists were friendly and helpful at all times. All the staff were friendly. The room was spacious and clean. And the breakfasts were a delight - not just the range of food and helpful staff but the view of the castle and the sunny terrace. The pool was a decent size - changing rooms were very good…fresh flowers there a nice touch, My husband and I were delighted with this charming hotel. My son said his favourite part of our stay in wonderful Wurtzburg were ‘the breakfasts’ and ‘the pool’ !

Google Maps told me the way back a little strange, but I got off at the bus stop and walked a little in the direction of the bus.

The room also has water and two bottles of wine, which is great! The only regret is that the hotel itself has its own parking lot, but because I ca n’t speak English well, I parked my car in a public parking lot, and I have to pay, if the hotel waiter can take it to the parking lot!

Not very far to the HBF and the city centre, but the view of our room went to a highway and an unattractive residence/market area. There were also not the wine mountains in the distance. Rooms OK, but windows could not open. We were stayed here during a bike tour and would not recommend this inpersonal hotel for a longer stay (we were there two nights). If already chain with acceptable prices, then Motel One.

|3.25km from city centerMy wife and I were very much looking forward to our stay at the Schlosshotel Steinburg, as it came highly recommended by our friends who had stayed there previously. But our stay started off poorly from the check-in. The person at the front desk was absolutely rude and unhelpful. From the moment we walked up to the desk, there was no greeting. Just a ”yes?” I commented that the GPS had brought us through an interesting path and if that was correct. And she replied, ”well you are here so it must be.” And it just kept going. I told her that it was our first time there and ask if she could tell me a little about the property and she told me that there was a QR code in the room that has all the information. That was just the check-in. Throughout our stay, the hotel staff did not seem to want to be there or had any intentions of making our stay welcoming. Never an offer to help with bags or any assistance familiarizing us with the property. I inquired about their spa facilities and again was referred to the QR code in the room. Also, I thought it was odd that when I called the front desk for an iron, I was informed that they did not provide one but they would iron for me. I thought this was nice but upon check-out, there was an ironing charge. It was not an outrageous amount but either provide an iron, like most hotels, or inform the customer of the charge. It just further reinforced my opinion that I was troubling them. But the meal we had at the restaurant was very good and our server was very professional and his wine selections were perfect. Would I go back? Probably not.

The hotel is less than 10 minutes walk from the bus stop of the railway station and flixbus.
The front desk and the room are all good. There is also a refrigerator in the room. Wifi is also fast and comfortable.
The room is a bit narrow.

|1.97km from city centerWe received a very hidden kindness. We heard at arrival ka ”Welcome to us warmly, you had a good arrival” or similar. Nothing. Name, please fill in the form, give the room card. We expected as a couple (and without prior request, whether we are so right) a double room with 2 separate beds (mattress feels hard medium/3). The quite small room had a wet cell with shower and toilet, and a clock refrigerator. No safe. The internet connection (free) something for patient. It is a bright house, unfortunately with unrespectful guests; the pitcher over us from the upper floor did not let us rest for the first time. The Putzwoman was probably at 7 a.m. in service and let every guest know this in all the early days of the day when working. Our room was so clean (.....bis on a few spinning fabrics above the hangs ...) Parking places are found on the street (Parkscheibe/1 hour) and are very limited at the hotel. A problem is probably when the hotel is fully exploited. The 3* hotel offers breakfast, no gastronomy or a drink machine in the EC. Vis-a-vis has a small Bistro-local. The reception is occupied (only) from 7:30 h to 22 h. When booking online via the hotel's website (not via eM), the hotel offers 5% discount. The guests are mainly assemblers and visitors/patients of the Uniklinik WÜ. With regard to the lack of friendliness in the accommodation, note: The guest (paying) is good and the hotelier does not hurt.

Great attention is paid to cleanliness and protection from Covid. Staff provided clear instructions about the hotel, free WiFi, etc. The walk from the Hauptbahnhof was about 10 minutes but in a straight line, and it was very easy to walk from the hotel to historic sights, the city market place, and restaurants. A lovely, first stay in Würzburg. The woman who ran the registration desk and supervised the breakfast room was so gracious--a beautiful experience!

|1.94km from city centerWe spent 2 nights in this hotel as part of our Romantic Road trip. We booked on line with the hotel directly 1 1/2 months prior to arrival and requested for a room with a view. Unfortunately, upon arrival in the hotel at around 15.30 hrs we were given a room facing the back road. The girl at the counter insisted on several occasions that no other rooms were available until a few minutes later she came to our room and offered a move to a room with a view. It was well worth the trouble as it makes such a difference to look out to the river and castle on top of the hill. The rooms themselves look recently renovated and are very comfortable. There is a split air con unit which makes for a comfortable room climate during the hot summer days. Both windows facing the road and river can be fully opened and there are electric black out blinds and drapes. The windows are fully soundproof and we slept very comfortably. The beds are 2 singles pushed together in the usual German style. The bathroom is small with a shower, wash basin and toilet. Although very compact, everything works. The water pressure is strong and there is liquid soap and shampoo in dispensers. There is a big flat screen TV with a lot of German and International channels, a fully stocked mini bar, in room safe and 2 USB charging points at the desk. A Nespresso machine with complimentary coffee pods is also available. Breakfast is the usual spread of German breads and bread rolls, cold meat and cheese, cereals and scrambled eggs. We had a very comfortable stay and I would have rated the hotel as excellent if not for the hick up with the location of the view. The gentleman with beard who checked us out was very friendly. We came by car and left our vehicle in the public car park just across the road from the hotel. Overnight parking is Euro 19.00 per day and there is no discount for hotel guests. My suggestion would be to make rooms with a view bookable at a higher price and have a guaranteed reservation for this room type.

I could talk about the horrendous customer service. I could talk about the outrageous price. Instead I'll just say this. How on earth does a hostel only open their reception between 6pm and 8pm? You literally have two hours where you're allowed to check-in. Your train arrives at 4? Tough luck, gotta wait. Had a delay and arrived 8:30? Thanks for your money, but you ain't sleeping here. They don't even have a phone number in case any of their current guests have a problem. Lost your key or someone stole your wallet in the middle of the night? Good luck finding a bench to sleep on. They say it's because of covid, but covid exists in all of Europe. Are all the other hostels in Europe also closing at 8? Right, didn't think so. The reality is that this is because the manager is a cheapskate with zero regard for their guests.

Sometimes, we are offered a room immediately on arrival, or are informed that OUR room would ready by such & such time. Nothing of this sort happened at Motel One Wurzburg. The first impression that we got was that we were at a Homeless Shelter & not a modern chain Hotel where we had a confirmed Booking. The receptionist (Eduardo) kept on repeating that we do not have any room, we do not have any room. NEVER did he once said that YOUR room is not ready at this moment, but it would be by 3 pm. Even when I came back for Checking in at 3pm he was in no hurry to allot me a Room. I had never felt so INSECURE in an Hotel before. I did not even knew that whether I will ever get a room or not. The hotel has a beautifully designed lobby & lounge, and it is situated at a very central location. It could have been THE Hotel to stay in Wurzburg because of its excellent pricing, but the apparent arrogance & complete lack of empathy towards the guests makes it the most undesirable place to stay in Europe.

Spacious room, impeccably clean, free mineral water in the room, central location but on a quiet side street, friendly staff, I was extremely impressed. The only thing that really could do with improving is the breakfast: for a cost of EUR 8.50 it could be better than boiled eggs, bread and second-rate vegetables.

Very small double bed, mattresses were older, no refrigerator, water cooker or other comforts in the room. No proper door to the bathroom. This is only separated by a glass door from the rest of the room. The ”door” is not close - no noise or vision protection. The whole building and the hall to the rooms have come in the years. The lady at the reception was not particularly prevalent, have received telephone calls during check-in, not greeted at the visitor and go and was very overburdened so no information was given to business. As said, the location is optimal. For the price I would never visit the hotel again.

Parken geht in einem öffentlichen Parkhaus um die Ecke mit einem geringen Rabatt pro Tag. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfbereit, allerdings waren die Zimmer erst um 15 Uhr beziehbar. Zu den Zimmern: Es gibt keine Fahrstoch und wir waren in Zimmern im 2. Stock, die unrenoviert waren. Die Zimmer waren zwar groß und im Bad wurde schon mal was gemacht, hatten aber den Charme der 90er. Dito für die Zimmer für den Rest der Familie. Das Frühstück war ok, es gibt aber eine fertige Wurst/Käse oder Käseplatte zur Auswahl. Müsli ist sehr begrenzt und es gibt nur gekochte Eier. Dafür war die Brötchenauswahl gut. Alles in allem aber nur 3 Sterne für den Preis.
