It’s beyond me how this Red Roof has 4 stars... Save your money and go somewhere else! I’m a rewards member and stay at Red Roof because I have dogs, but this was a complete dump. The front desk was decent, but I did see a manager in sweats arguing with a guest in front of the lobby. Very unprofessional. When I checked in the first room smelled really bad like carpet cleaner. I went to turn on the ac but the filters were so black that I went to switch rooms. The 2nd room was nonsmoking and smelled like smoke. I tried to turn on ac but it was unplugged. I then tried to plug it in and realized the outlet was burnt, not to mention a half eaten Twinkie on the carpet. So glad I found it before my dogs did and go sick. My boyfriend then went to the front desk to complain... there was also no toilet paper! And they moved us yet again, but not before trying to blame the burnt outlet on us. The third room wasn’t any better, but I was tired of room moving. At least they offered us $20 back. Made me rethink ever staying at another red roof.

My family and I chose to spend a night in a hotel due to our air conditioner breaking. We chose to stay in this hotel vs others that we are rewards members because their website stated that both their indoor pool and their hot breakfast buffet were open (both basically a must when you have 2 kids and was LITERALLY my search criteria). Upon checking in, I'm met with a SIGN stating that the pool is closed. The breakfast buffet is closed and that they are offering bagged Togo breakfasts in mornings. I told the clerk I didn't want to stay because their website didn't reflect this and was told he had already completed my check in and would not be able to do a refund, so we decided to stay after paying the money. Through the night we had a neighbor on the floor that kept playing music loudly and was in and out of the room slamming doors and would wake our youngest up. I went downstairs to complain after the 3rd time and it was 2am. The night clerk was nice and apologetic, but just wrote down the problem and said she would give it to the manager the following day (did me no good that night). The beds werent equipped with the right amount of pillows and werent very comfortable. Needless to say I slept all of maybe an hour. I was so upset by it all I got my family up at 6am, packed our things and went to check out. Upon checkout (which was about 7:30am), the night clerk from before was having an issue with the person in front of me and I formed me that if I had a deposit I had to wait. We waited 20 min while she had the miscommunication with the person in front of me trying to stay another night. When I got up there to check out, she said oh, you paid with a card you are good. I asked about the bagged breakfast and she said oh yeah those, and didn't have them ready as it stated they should be on the signage.

My husband and I were recently stranded in Detroit due to bad weather. We booked rooms at two area hotels, and both of them were overbooked and could not accommodate us. By the time we got to the second hotel, it was after midnight and they very kindly let us know about the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Northville. Tanaeh very kindly helped me and my husband find a clean, quiet and comfortable room when we arrived at 1AM and even gave us a later check-out time so we could sleep in. And Dania was super-helpful after we had a good night's rest, even helping us find a tray for our breakfast, and giving us some much-needed toiletry items (since the airline still had our checked bags with all our clothing and toiletries). We might have been frightened away by some of the other reviews, but the staff at this hotel were there for us when we needed them most and came through with flying colors. And the breakfast was certainly good, too!

My wife and I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. The price we paid for a regular room was excellent. There was an issue with the heater in our first room, so they upgraded our room for free. Sam Samil was especially helpful during our stay. Next time we are in the Detroit area, we will definitely be staying here again!

I am a frequent business traveler to this area, and had stayed many times at this hotel during the last 4-5 years. I had not been since the renovation was finished in about a year, and I am not sure what has occurred, but the service used to be great at this hotel and now is sub-par. Typically I don't leave reviews good or bad, however, this needed to be addressed. I spent four days from February 25-28, 2020 at the hotel, and was very disappointed in how bad the overall experience has gotten. The check in process was fairly easy, however, the clerk paid no attention to my Marriott frequent traveler profile which shows I prefer to be far from the elevator and ice machine. I ended up in a room which was directly next to the ice machine and right around the corner from the elevator. I am a very light sleeper and this disrupts my being able to sleep because they are loud, thus the reason I have this in my traveler profile. The night I arrived, I met my colleagues in the dining room around 8:30 PM to have a quick meal. The waitress, Adriana, was her name I believe, seemed put out that I arrived after the rest of the party and essentially threw the menu to me on the table. We were the only people in the dining room eating at that time, and it was well before closing, so I don't understand her frustration. I ordered the crab cakes, and a particular craft beer from the menu. Adriana left and came back a short time later to tell me she "could not find the beer" that I wanted. I told her I would select something else, and I had to shout my choice at her back as she left again. I would have understood, but she did not check with the bar staff to see if they could assist and she barely let me make a second selection. I chalked this up to her having a bad day, but the following day I had dinner again in the dining room with my colleagues, and the situation was worse than the previous night. The same waitress greeted us again with an attitude as though we were interrupting her favorite TV program. We needed space for five people and there were only tables for four, so we asked if we could move a small two person table next to the four person table we sat down at. She acted very put out and basically left us to move the table ourselves. Once seated she tossed menus onto the table and left. None of these menus had the actual food service portion in them, it was only drinks, and it took us another 10 minutes to get her attention to bring us new menus. I will admit, the restaurant was very busy, likely due to the bad weather, but the manager of the establishment should have prepared in advance for larger crowds, and I could have understood the attitude more easily had the waitress alerted us that she was alone and busy that night and to excuse the long wait time, but she didn't do that at all. She finally came back to take our orders, all of us were ordering off of the happy hour menu. When I placed my order she acted as though she had never heard of any of the i

Stayed here 3 nights. Room was clean. The location of the hotel is great, about a block off the highway. There is a Wendy's and a Subway's right next door. Plenty of parking. Hotel seemed very quiet, but I never saw anyone else at breakfast, so maybe a slow weekend. Breakfast was just OK, eggs every day were rubbery, but there are waffles, cereals and yogurts. Some bread items felt stale. No pool here and internet connection was lousy. I had the excellent rate, so I didn't expect much. Microwave and refridge in room, ice machine and vending available.

I stayed at this property and my visit that abruptly came to an end was terrible the new manager Andrew that stressed to his staff that he in fact didn’t want local residents staying at this location forced me and my family as well as other long term guest to leave stating that I was in non compliance with the new rules I had been a long term guest at this property for over a year and had no issues with management in such matter until now I was emailed a form to authorize me to pay for my room while I was out of town mind u I never had any payment issues before he came along and I wasn’t even given a full 24hrs to complete and return the form before I received a call stating that I was no longer welcome to stay there and in fact had to vacate the premises so I had to drive 12 hours back to Michigan to remove my items yes I was given a few hours to remove my belongings but I did not deserve this if this in fact was a policy it wasn’t followed before now my room didn’t have a balance I was not rude nor did I cause any disturbance the general manager even went as far as to tell his staff if I wasn’t off the property by the given time to call Farmington law enforcement I will never stay at any Fairfield inns again nor recommend them I have spent thousands of dollars to be mistreated and discriminated against because as the manager worded it we are locals and he wants a corporate atmosphere good luck with that some of the staff is rude the management is terrible and it isn’t the cleanest establishment in fact I have photographs of mold on the ceiling which I said something about months ago the guest are made to feel like they are bothering the staff when anything is in fact mentioned they have a very few staff members that go above and beyond for the guest and they are on their way out of the door can u blame them?

We stayed at this establishment the first night in Detroit on our way to our ultimate destination on Mackinac Island. The evening Manager, Ronald, was very accommodating and gave us a great room, 327, at the end of the hall. The room was clean and everything, including the bed was very comfortable. Upon leaving the next morning, he was still on duty so I told him that the hotel was so nice that we were going to stay again upon our return to Detroit. I asked if we could have the same room and he made arrangements for our stay. When we returned on September 20th, Jessica welcomed us back and made sure our accommodations were exactly what we asked for. She was very personable and professional. If our experience wasn't good enough already then we met the Cook, Jeff who was responsible for the great breakfast prepared during our stay. This hotel is top notch in every way and would recommend it to anyone e planning to stay in the Farmington/Novi area. The only down side is the construction going on 12 Mile Road in front of the entrance to the hotel.
