We (8 people) took 3 cabs to the Luna Hotel and was greeted by Paolo who immediately took our 8 heavy bags up to our rooms and was helpful in securing future transportation etc. The Hotel's accommodations were a unique in that there were only 4 with a common kitchen area in the middle.Very comfortable ocean views with 2 of the rooms, great bathrooms and shower. We were there in April so area wasn't too crowded so explored the beach (treasure hunt for sea glass) and a classic Gelato shop right next door. The real "gem" was the restaurant that occupied the ground floor plus outside accommodations for lunch.this was the owners true calling and some of the best meals we have had in multiple trips all over Italy.

The very modern building is not located in the town center but you can walk to the beach and to the center (20’).The car park is that of the shopping center. Our room was large and clean and the air conditioner worked well. It’s certainly quite ok for a night while on the road. There are some nice places to eat and drink in the town center. The breakfast room is very large and it can be noisy when full... the staff did their best to maintain the place clean and to clear up tables but it was very messy due to the large number of customers having breakfast at the same time. Some extra staff would be helpful at the weekend to help! Food was basic.

I stayed here on business for a week. The hotel rooms are spacious by European standards and the king be was comfy. It is located convenient to many local restaurants and to the harbor cruise ship terminal. We were between temperature seasons, so we have to go without heat for a couple of days before they got it turned on...was quite cold but we managed. The breakfast has a small selection of hot foods...bacon and eggs, plus an extensive selection of breads, cold meats, fruit and cheese. It is also a short 5 minute walk to the central shopping streets and fifteen minute walk to the central train station.

I stayed with my mother for an entire week on late August/early September with my dog and cat. Room itself has a nice decor and smart TV, but: - The beds are way too small (my dog alone on one of them even fell back first into the floor two times; my mother fell nearly once!) - Corners of the windows still had spider webs (unacceptable even for whichever two star hotel) - A light bulb was down and remained so for the duration of the stay, even though a middle age employer came up to replace it but didn't have (no spares on a hotel constantly needing them like any other, really??) - The same employer insisted that the safe had a key, not aware it actually works by inputting a code, despite I told him it wasn't a key; we never got to use it the whole stay either - Breakfast was one of the best points, although the scrambled eggs were more like been made without the yolk; maybe the eggs aren't good quality, maybe you simply remove the yolks, I don't know honestly - Overall room service is okay, every day our towels have been changed - Reception service is okay as well, although that time the lady could barely speak French (I can understand and speak Italian, French and English beyond my native, but my mother is only - and still barely - French), therefore staff which can speak a wider variety of languages is better welcoming - Parking lot is hopelessly dirty, full of trash everywhere across it's western half - Location is still good, by the beach, immediately and safely accessible by the underground passage Of what needs to change imperatively are the single beds' size, cleanliness standards, quality of some breakfast products, competence of some staff, and order the installation of sound barriers along the railway (awfully and pointlessly noisy too, as our room's window was kinda broken enough to leave that critical fringe open).

I have started this review for the 5th time and still, I do no think my words written today will truly give the "rating" that this boutique hotel deserves. Let me first talk about the events that unfolded. During our first silver service dinner Edmondo Segre, husband to Alessandra Segre, introduces himself and welcomes us to his second home (owners). They both live on the property adjacent to the hotel which he mentions in his second sentence to us. He also offers our cocker spaniel, Amylee, to roam freely and have as her own backyard. No need to "pick up" - quote-unquote. His warmth and love of hosting his guests are represented in his smile and eagerness to share his intimate knowledge of Italian history, culture, and naturally the wine. Last I checked I have not been welcomed by the owner of a hotel... oh wait that doesn't happen. "If you have a complaint talk to me", he says. If he is unable to do it he will facilitate it as best he can with his highly trained and organized staff who are so well instructed on when, where, how, what, etc to help each individual guest. Most are fluent in at least 3 languages - French, Italian, and English. If you asked around Russian, German and Spanish speakers are there as well. Having been greeted and welcomed we spent the next 9 nights enjoying a total rejuvenation of our mental states as well as the hospitality we have yet to experience anywhere else. Every staff member knew our likes and dislikes within the first day. Attending to our wants before we even spoke a word. A step ahead. I see some reviews about dated rooms. Let me give you an example to better illustrate my view on this topic - I watched as a 60-year-old camp in the heart of the Sabi Sands South Africa was renovated. At the time I thought yes that is exactly what it needs to keep up with what is now a "super luxury industry". On my return, I found the place heartless and stripped of its rich history. I had become separated, the work was not of the high standard that was once a norm, the smells, the textures, and the aura had vanished. I still feel deeply saddened by the event and can honestly tell you that the rooms do not need to be renovated, this is an establishment dating back to 1979. If you want to stay in a modern 5 Star Hilton then go stay there. This place is not that. It is so much more and not something that could be bought or sold on the market or for any cheap trip advisor review. For it is not in the cold materials that a hotel is made. It is what fills the halls, what kind of experience the staff creates, and the aura that one can be immersed in. On leaving all we wanted to do was turn around and go back. But like most of us, we slave to the needs of our capitalist ways and sell our precious time to go spend more time in places like this. We can't want to return. A thank you will not be enough but it is all I can write here - Thank you, Edmundo and Alessandra, it was truly pleasure.

We've never stayed at any yacht club before, so were very curious about the Yacht Club Marina di Loano. First of all, the location - rather far from the city center, but Loano is not really that interesting, so I don't consider this as a disadvantage. There are some shops and restaurants in the marina, but keep in mind that off season most of them is closed. We were there in the 2nd half of October and the marina was deserted. It's not that easy to get to the hotel, but you get very clear instructions, so that's great. It's awesome that they provide accommodation with a free parking spot. It is a bit complicated with all the different cards, keys, remote controls that you get but manageable. The staff at the reception was very helpful and nice, you only have to remember that they are not available 24/7, only till 7pm as far as I remember. The room was great: stylish, comfy, with kettle, tea and fridge, great view over the marina, and yachts. From our balcony we could also see an old church in Loano! One disadvantage: really weird smell in the room, like from a detergent or sth. Very nice lobby/seating area, with huge and comfy sofas, interesting reading options and great views. Now about the not-so-great stuff: the lobby area was completely deserted, someone in another review mentioned mood like from the movie Passengers or the Shining - totally agree. Most of the facilities were closed during our stay: the bar, the restaurant, the sun deck. The hotel should mention that in advance. Sun deck I understand, but it would be nice to have a drink overlooking the marina - we couldn't. But the worst part was breakfast - it was on a 2* hotel level... Limited choice, no toaster, nothing warm to eat, no hot milk (who eats cereals with ice-cold milk???), disgusting juice, everything cooled and stucked into buckets with ice cubes... Brrr! Very desperate, we found a rumpled menu card on the table - supposedly they can offer you some beacon, scrambled eggs or toasts, but the waiter did not mention any of that to us! He spoke little to none English, but I've managed to order a toast - he prepared it outside, so it was barely warm. WORST BREAKFAST I'VE SEEN IN ANY HOTEL

The house and park are just amazing and taken great care of by the lovely hotel owner and his family. We were very warmly welcomed and they made it feel like home. The rooms are really well-furnitured, clean and spacey. We would highly recommend the Villa degli Aceri and already thinking of going back there soon.
