While many of my problems are Marriott specific (no acknowledgement of Gold member etc), the real problem with this place is the customer service which I expect to be excellent in any Marriott property. The woman who checked us in was dismissive and curt, the poor guy who was supposed to help with the bags didn't speak English and no one explained that so we had to struggle up the staircase going into the hotel with all our bags (and we are in our 80's). We went for a walk and the clerk (now a different one) didn't even acknowledge us when we returned. When we went out to dinner, I stopped at the desk and Monique FiNALLY explained what had happened and apologized and tried to make amends. She said the manager would come and talk with us the next morning but we left at 9am with no visit. When we checked out, the clerk said parking was complimentary. I tried to explain that I paid extra for parking in my room rate so would like a refund of that and she refused any adjustment. I would contact the manager directly but don't have contact information. On the website it still says our reservation is "in progress" though we checked out 8 hours ago. Beyond this unfortunate set of encounters...the room was stark, the lights were harsh, there are few places to plug in electronics, the bed was Marriott comfortable (I love Marriott's beds), the bathroom is spacious and nice but there was little hot water and little water pressure in the shower. And to add insult to in injury NOTE there is no coffee make in the rooms and no coffee in the lobby so unless you buy breakfast (not inexpensive) there is no access to coffee in the hotel. I can't remember the last time I stayed in a hotel with no coffee.

This review is primarily for Mr. Joe Williams, who was the shuttle van driver that took and picked up my wife to and from Reagan National Airport on Friday, December 13, as well as, Friday, December 20, 2019. My wife and I were traveling on vacation and we chose Sheration Suites of Old Town Alexandria to leave our vehicle while on vacation. Mr. Williams exemplified an incredible amount of professionalism and customer service. He ensured that my wife and I had an enjoyable journey to and from the Airport by showing a unique about of humor and kindness. We could tell right away that this gentleman was used to dealing with people and wanted to make sure that his customers were a priority. On our return trip on Friday, December 20. 2019, Mr. Williams was the driver again, and immediately recognize my wife and me, which again made us feel comfortable and important. However, on the return trip, this journey would be a little different due to the fact the Holiday seasonal traffic to and from the airport was at full capacity. Mr. Williams despite the heavy traffic and the increasing amount of customers traveling to retrieve their vehicles he still maintained an extremely pleasant attitude. The thing that caught my wife's and I attention about the level of professionalism and calmness that was put on full display by Mr. Williams was that he was receiving phone calls from the hotel's front desk about his estimated time of arrival due to the apparent uneasiness of the customers awaiting his arrival to carry them to the airport to catch the flights. Mr. Williams informed the individual on the other line that traffic was extremely heavy and he was doing his level best to get to the hotel. However, the calls didn't stop, but Mr. Williams again demonstrated a great attitude and calmness and informed them that he would get there as soon as possible. Finally, My wife and I often use shuttle van services from various hotels within the area to park our vehicles and carry us to the airport, but this journey with Mr. Willams was stress-free and wonderful. My wife and I want to commend and highly recommend Mr. Joe Williams for his extraordinary attitude and invaluable customer service skills. Definitely a five-star rating! Sincerely, Dr. Duane and Mrs. Michele Mangum

Overall this is a good hotel -Very Clean, Great Location (walking distance to all main attractions) but i cant give it more than 3.5 stars for following reasons- We had only one roll of toilet paper in the room and it was almost at the end so i asked front desk for one roll - i went to sleep 4 hrs later and only in the morning i realized it was never delivered. I requested front desk to have my room cleaned (if you dont request they will not) thinking when cleaning lady gets there she will realize that we need another roll but came back to what was there before( and btw i always leave tips too)-had to go to front desk and actually follow one of the workers to supply room to make sure i get it. The next day we were checking out and at 845am we had a knock from housekeeping asking us if they can clean our room to which we said not yet and that we were planning to leave by 945-10 . These ladies actually sat on the floor by our door since about 920-950 until we told them we are ready to leave. VERY not professional. Another major issue was our bed and pillows. Very uncomfortable - i travel a lot (even during covid time) and this is actually i think my first review of any property where i didnt like pillows and bed. PS if you driving and planning to park in their garage make sure to check in first and ask clerk for directions or you will not find it.

The stay was a quick overnight trip to attend a school shadow day for a potential school for my child. We rode the train, and I love the close proximity of the hotel to the train station. It's in walking distance of various stores and restaurants. The room was super large and comfortable. The Check-in receptionist Nicole was so personable and helpful with providing suggestions/tips to help make our relocation to the area a smooth one. She even asked how the school visit went when we checked out.

I stayed at the Embassy Suites Tysons hotel many times in the past years. Just like most hotels of this brand, I like the spacious suites and thoroughly enjoyed, before Covid-19, the generous offering of their buffet breakfast. During my most recent stay, however, I had the displeasure of having an interaction with SANA HUSSAIN at the front desk. When I asked Sana for the bottles of water that come with a Silver membership, she informed that they now only give free bottled water to Gold members which I immediately refuted. She then continued to tell me that the hotel can no longer afford to offer free bottled water. Someone from upper management must remind Sana that a bottled water costs 10-15 cents at wholesale. She only relented and handed me the two bottles of water I have been accustomed being offered at a Hilton front desk each time I check-in when I told her that I would review Silver benefits online and would return to her if the Hilton Honors website still mentions that this benefit is still being offered to Silver members. It is unfathomable how an employee like Sana would make up new policy to a Hilton Honors member who earned the benefits of an Elite Status. People who check in at hotels come from near and far, a nice gesture by offering a bottled water after a long travel for many of us should not be something that Sana should personally decide to take away especially after earning the Elite Status, no matter how low it is in the hierarchy, through direct Hilton reservations. When I called Sana Hussain a few minutes later to correctly inform her that the Hilton Honors website indicates that Silver members are still eligible for free bottled water, she became defensive, argumentative, and downright rude by constantly interrupting what I had to say. She offered a number of explanations why I was not eligible for free bottles of water: 1. She repeated that I was not a Gold member: 2. Sana told me that half of the hotel's staff have been laid off for which I really did not understand her train of thought. What does this have to do with me or with two bottles of water? I am still paying for my room, I did not ask to stay for free at this hotel. In fact, if it is true that half of the hotel's staff had been laid off, you would think Sana would be a more pleasant employee that she was able to keep her job and appreciative of the hotel guests who continue to come. 2. Sana pointed out that I booked through a third party and to be eligible for the bottles of water worth 10-15 cents each, and that I should have directly booked through Hilton which would have been $50 more per night. I have stayed at many Hilton properties booking through a third-party and I NEVER had any issue getting two complimentary bottles of water until I met Sana Hussain, the bottled water warrior. Finally, she kept interrupting me while I was talking and pointed out that she gave me the two bottles of water anyway and that I was making a big deal out of the

Despite the situation with COVID, Westin managers and staff worked with us from beginning to end to make our event fun, safe, enjoyable and memorable. All of the Westin staff are excellent and went overboard! They were able to help make our event a great success and safe with about 100 guests. Our guests were all happy with how the event turned out with the social distancing measures and were glad to stay at the hotel overnight. They have an excellent chef as well who provided us with delicious meals for our guests! Our family highly recommends Westin Alexandria Old Town to anyone who is considering an event during this COVID time and in the future!

The staff @ the Landmark location allows the opportunity to explore the Washington DC and Northern VA region. a most stress free experience. when first you meet the "4 amigos": Alan, Mohammed, Estuardo and Akram you know you are a welcomed guest. . Alan, Mohammed , Estuardo and Akram are always attentive, fun and the guests "learn to love them". Their attention to detail and their attention to "you" makes each stay a "family" event. I recommend the Landmark location if you are travelling to Alexandria. I might also mention that Mohammed is a genius when dealing with computers and all electronics. Take the time to visit the Landmark and say hello to the staff that makes the stay a most pleasurable experience..

Stayed here in mid August. Convenient location near Arlington. Lobby is nice albeit a little dim. Check-in was easy and fast. Room was fine...total no frills, but that's what we wanted, a clean simple room. Beds were very comfortable and bathroom was clean, but bring your own shampoo & soap because there is not much on hand in the room. Saw other reviews complain about outside noise and I have to agree. I actually got up out of bed once because I thought the window had to be open. Didn't check out pool or breakfast because it was closed due to covid. One beef with this place was the garage. Besides having to pay $22 (which I guess they all charge now), we had a cargo box on top of our car which cleared the bar at the entrance then smashed into to ceiling as soon as we entered and turned to go up the first ramp. Then, when we were leaving the garage, the gate came down on the back of our car because we did not pull out fast enough. I guess there was no sensor. Furthermore, the gate is not some padded bar, but rather a gutter leader tacked on without padding. If the plaza across the street allows overnight parking, then save the money & aggravation and go park over there. Bonus, 7-11 across the street sells beer although it wasn't exactly cold. I've seen nicer more modern Courtyards, but this place wasn't bad & I would consider staying here again.
