We stayed for 3 nights with our 2 young kids. We chose the western room with tatami area as it was huge but it’s on the 1st floor. Plenty of space for kids to run around. The room itself was a bit outdated, could do with new carpets. But it was clean. Beds however were slightly uncomfortable as the mattress was too hard for my liking. For those who drove like we did you’d probably have no trouble getting around. The hotel is secluded and there are no restaurants or shops nearby. The nearest convenience store is probably 4.5km away. The hotel has only one restaurant which I thought was rather odd being such a huge hotel. No lounge or cafes serving cakes or tea. There is a small restaurant serving light lunch (hot dog, udon, curry rice) at the pool. That’s it. I would advise those with young kids to bring loads of snacks and drinks and light meals with you. The hotel has great facilities. The indoor pool was a huge hit and there are 2 outdoor pools. There’s a small game room too. There’s a beach nearby too. Calm waters and clean. Overall a great hotel for families

The Amanemu was all I had hoped for - well up to Aman standard, quiet, integrated with nature, perfectly clean, and peaceful. I came for the nature, proximity to Ago Bay and the Ise Grand Shrine, Aman aesthetics, and the private onsen. The resort is assimilated with the surrounding national park, very peaceful and with areas that allow you to easily wander and see nature. The Ago Bay itself was relaxing and you can walk to the Sunset Beach (among other places) to enjoy it. The onsen was spectacular, both at the spa and in my room. It was exactly as advertised - the hot spring water flows directly into your own deep room tub, through its own faucet. The spa has a larger onsen (bathing suits are required) that was like a series of wading and sitting pools, set outdoors. The overall room and resort were very very clean. This may be the most clean hotel I have been to, on par with Aman Tokyo. The robes and two types of slippers in the room were local in style and comfortable. The staff was attentive and quick, without being intrusive. Also, the staff was quite detail oriented, to the point of saran-wrapping leftovers I put in the mini-fridge, but knowing not to fold clothes I left out to air. The tour guide the hotel provided for the Ise Jingu tour was informative and fluent in English. She and the driver provided a nice day of shrine touring, shopping in Oharai-machi, and seeing the Ago Bay as well. All in all, it was a relaxing getaway and another great Aman experience.

We stayed 2 nights for Shima trip. This is fantastic resort with huge properties. We chose this hotel because it seems to offer more activities and size of the properties. It seemed renovated old resorts so I wasn't expected too much, but it turns out great stay. 1. Property Huge property sharing with Amanemu resorts for the part. There are several trails within the properties. Hike to the sunset beach, or hike to the wet lands to the shore, or hike to Marina. Each road was paved and very easy hike but it's so quiet and isolated, perfect getaway if you love nature. 2. Amenities -There's a laundry room. Washer/Dryer was free but you need to purchase soap. It was great features as we are traveling from US, any laundry occasion helps. -Bath: Women's side has huge dressing room with Mikimoto cosmetics. There are 1 wood tub, 1 granite Pearl tub and 1 outdoor tub. Each tub is not that huge but I only see one or two person at a time. 3. Activities -Free activities includes: Free "welcome" drink by the lobby. Orange juice, Honey lemonade, Hojicha and cookies were there all the time. -8pm-10pm there was fire pit outdoor with lounge chairs to see the stars. It was totally isolated and quiet, just the sounds of bugs and birds. Great detachment and we really loved it. They were also coffee and mushmarrows for roasting for free. -Rest of the activities such as Yoga, bike, golf cart, standing paddle, fishing, cruise is with additional charge and very expensive. It was great idea to have activities but I think hotel should reduce the rates by 1/2, otherwise nobody will order them. 4. Room: We had Deluxe Twin room wish comes with lounge area. Twin room was slightly wider than "twin' size. Room was huge. Separate toilet and bathroom with large vanity area. Amazing views of Bay and we really enjoyed. Building seems old, but we were very happy with the layout of the room and quality of linens. Room has 2 sets of Futons for an additional guests. There were lounge wear which can wear to the bath or restaurants and cotton pajamas which helped a lot. 5. Food -We had cheapest Kaiseki package with breakfast. Dinner: Dinner was served at restaurant. Each table had good space in between with very large dining table. Tastefully remodeled throughout and didn't feel old at all. Portion was small but we both got full in the end. Quality of foods were amazing so as presentations and plates. For the 2nd nights they provided different menu for us and it was fantastic dinner. Breakfast has western and Japanese breakfast but I personally enjoyed the Japanese breakfast. Quality of foods are great and we really enjoyed the meal. Overall we were very happy with the service and facilities. It was one of the memorable place to stay. *there aren't many convini or store nearby. I'd highly recommend to get the drinks or snacks before arriving to the hotel. Hotel does not have convini and very limited selection.

The hotel is located near the Yindao Station. The location and environment are very good. The open-air hot springs are very large, and the pearls are good for the skin. There are no Chinese guests here, but there are many Japanese elderly people. Breakfast is self-service, and there is no choice of package options on the Ctrip dinner. The taste is quite satisfactory. The room is not exaggerated, the scenery is very good, suitable for leisure and holiday. Recommended!

We stayed here for one night and enjoyed a lovely dinner and breakfast in our room. Unfortunately, it rained throughout our stay, so we couldn't enjoy the beautiful ocean view, which all rooms offer. The hotel is a little old, and so the doors are short, and the hallways show their age, but the rooms were nice enough, and were very clean. The baths in this hotel were enjoyable; there is only one outdoor bath, which switches genders daily so be sure to partake on both days of your visit, or you will miss out on the outdoor bath, which has a lovely ocean view. The kids had fun playing around in the outdoor pool; it is not meant for adults, since it is only a couple of feet deep at most. The food was spot-on, and we especially liked the ise-ebi and other seafood we were served. The children had their own special "kid friendly" meals served at both breakfast and supper, and they liked theirs! This hotel is a very quiet and relaxing hotel to stay at in the area. It is within a short walk of Kashikojima station as well, so it is convenient.

This hotel is out of the way, it is not covered on the JR Pass and there are not huge cities nearby. In fact, for most foreigners I can’t think of a compelling reason why they would think about Shima, but if you come you won’t be disappointed. First a warning: this is a good place to really unwind, relax, look at the sea, go to Marineland (interesting acqurium nearby) hit up the local Onsen, etc. There is not a ton to do in the immediate walkable vicinity that I found. Now the hotel - the hotel, and whole town for that matter, were PUMPED to have the G7 a few years ago. The hotel has numerous plaques and photos to the event. The amusing thing is it is like the hotel forgot the G7 was in 2016, and thus the service is world class, as though a president might walk out of a room at any moment. It really is an amazing hotel. Why should such an out of the way hotel have such good English speakers? No idea, but it was fantastic. Why was everyone, every single one, of the staff so kind and courteous? No idea, but wow. Stayed in many five-stars in Japan, but this was the best service. Definitely get a package with at least breakfast. The food was fabulous. The rooms were divine and very peaceful. This has become super long, but I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. If you’re not from Japan you’ll likely be the only foreigner there, which can be a nice change from packed Kyoto. Why is such a world class hotel so far out? No idea, but I’ll take it.

Otherwise pleasant stay marred by poor management behavior. On my morning of checkout, I was running late to a tour in Toba. Running out the door, I vacated the room, left my key, asked the bell desk to hold my luggage - and informed the front desk that I would settle the final bill upon my return from the tour. They told me that this would be impossible, that I needed to stay and handle the payment formalities immediately. Knowing formalities in Japan, especially at high-end establishments, are handled with great attention to detail and care, this would surely make me late for the train and my tour. A manager attended to me and when I quickly explained the situation, he told me "that is not of my concern. You may not leave without paying first." At a hotel where service is lauded, a guest's concern should be your concern - the lack of care and poor treatment from this manager shocked me and marred an otherwise pleasant stay.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights from April 1. It is located close to the train station, within a 10 minutes walk. The twin room that we stayed at has a good size and all the amenities expected for a comfortable stay. But what is more outstanding is the service of the staff. Though English is not commonly spoken at the hotel, staff would try their best to offer help and advice. The Front Office Manager, Mr Wakabayashi, was particularly helpful to us even before our arrival. When I carelessly left behind a pair of eye glass at a restaurant in Ise city, Mr Shota Ban, a front office staff, volunteered to drive to the restaurant himself to get it back for me. The driving alone, both ways, would take more than an hour. He passed back the eye glass to me before 11pm. He also politely declined any payment from me to cover the cost of gasoline and his time. This is really impressive. Without the eye glass, I have problem in reading and it would certainly disrupt our onward journey.

Nice enough hotel and the staff try very hard to help. The views from the hotel are beautiful over the bay but it is pretty remote and there is not a lot to do when the pool is closed in off season. They run a regular shuttle service to the train station and into town but only up to 18.00 and 15.00 respectively so you basically have to eat dinner at the resort. Evening meals were satisfactory but the buffet breakfast provided to our group was certainly not. Cold and inedible. I preferred to eat the standard breakfast which was very limited but at least edible. Their sister hotel would be a much better option and it is only five minutes away.
