We had the deluxe family room which was very spacious. The place was very clean and well kept. Staff very helpful though our lack of Japanese language wasn't so useful! The lift to station on checkout was useful as it's not an ideal location on the other side of the station from town centre through a reasonably busy few streets though we have some little legs in our family and just took taxis when required. As we had a fridge in our room and could use the downstairs microwave, some information on how we could borrow cutlery or crockery would have been useful as we didn't like to make any mess! It would have also been good to be able to separate out our rubbish as we knew how well Japanese segregate it and didn't like the thought of staff having to go through our rubbish bag to do so! The family bath was too hot for most of the family though we have young children <5 years. The fridge froze most of our food even on the lowest setting; perhaps something could be done about this but overall an enjoyable stay that seemed good value and gave us a Ryokan experience.

The Hotel Montagne Matsumoto provides a great place for travelers to relax after a busy day. Visitors to Matsumoto will find that the Hotel Montagne Matsumoto is a fantastic accommodation choice. With JR Matsumoto Station just 300m away and Matsumoto Airport only 10km away, transportation is very convenient. Famous local attractions Matsumotoshi Hakari Museum, Nawate Shopping District and Jorinji Temple, can all be reached with a short walk. After a long day of sightseeing, guests can retire to the comfort of the hotel.

My family (2sons) visited L-Base in March this year! It is a little bit remote from Matumoto city but Hirata Station ist only 15-20min walk considering small kids! (Adult maybe 7min). Seven Eleven is also right there to by urgent supplies. We really enjoyed sleeping on the nice japanese tatami in original japanese futon beds. The rooms are very clean and equiped with everything necessary. We cooked several times in the small kitchen, when we did not get a table at the italien restaurant doma noma. The restaurant is right next to the hotel. When ever we had any question or request we recieved friendly and helpful support.

Booked a non-smoking room for 2 nights but as soon as I checked into my room, I could smell cigarette through the ventilation and despite turning heater off. As I'm slightly asthmatic and can't breathe well if cigarette smell presents, I went to the reception straight away and explained, but the manager didn't believe me. I asked him to come to my room and even though there was still strong smell of cigarette in the corridor and in the room, he denied he could smell it and was reluctant to do anything. I even asked him if other rooms on the floor were smoking rooms and he said no. Though he would not barge at first, I kept on insisting on a room change and he finally gave in. I always thought Japanese strides to provide exceptionally customer service but clearly not in this hotel coz I was treated with such mistrust and rudeness. This was by far the worst hotel experience I ever had in Japan! Luckily the air was fine after changing to a different floor, or otherwise I'd have to find a different hotel to stay and probably wouldn't get my money back as I booked directly on the hotel website. The other thing I didn't like was that I had to hand them the room key whenever I went out. This felt like they can't trust their hotel guests enough to let them keep the keys. I can understand that if I was staying at a local's home or in the older ryokan where the room door is not always secured, but this is meant to be a hotel? I also found the room quite dusty and outdated as well. Not somewhere I would recommend or stay again. So why didn't I rate it 1 star? That's because the breakfast staff were actually friendly and professional, much more polite than their main reception staff and also for the fact that it's located very close to the train station. If you are thinking about staying at this hotel, I would recommend you to compare other options before making your decision. There were a few other budget hotels nearby that's worth checking out.

We booked through agoda.com for a reasonable price. We arrived by train and literally walked across the street to the hotel. Check-in is at 3pm and like most Japanese business hotels they are strict about not letting you in early. The staff were friendly and spoke English. We had breakfast included, either Western or Japanese. We opted for the Japanese breakfast and it was great plus you get unlimited coffee or juice. Our room was small but adequate with a double bed that was a bit hard. There is a small refrigerator and kettle. The bathroom had a tub and Toto toilet. The location is great. You can hop on the town sneaker buses that make a loop to various attractions. We opted for the 500¥ daily unlimited ticket which also gives you a discount at different venues such as the castle and art museum. There are several convenience stores nearby and plenty of restaurants. We would stay here again.

We stayed here 1 night after doing the Tateyama-Kurobe alpine route. The hotel is well located a short 3 minute walk from train and bus station. There are Lawson's and 7/11s nearby as well as a multitude of dining and shopping options. There is a new place just opened which I can't remember the name of which has the Matsumoto brewery upstairs and you can enjoy a beer and food on the balcony - very civilised. It's an easy 15-20 minute walk to Matsumoto Castle which is very enjoyable. Great photo ops. Hotel staff were nice and helpful. Wifi worked well (always a plus when you are booking/researching on the go). Room was quiet and comfortable on the top floor. I believe there are bikes available which would be great but unfortunately we were only there the one night.

A very afforable hotel in Matsumoto located very close to the bus terminal and we booked the renovated non smoking twin room. The 2 twin bed was place next to each other with just a tiny gap in between but its ok and the bed feels slightly bigger than the usual single bed. Toilet is very small but well- equipped, its the standard for most Japan hotels. Room also came with free breakfast that taste quite well. It was raining while we were there and the hotel provided umbrellas for their guests to use, which was a really nice gesture. Check-in was a breeze but when we called the front desk from the room, they couldn't understand us what we were saying and they don't speak english too. Nevertheless, it was a satisfactory stay for the price we paid.

The hotel area is not surprisingly small, but I am very satisfied with the room at this price. I came from the Hirayu Onsen bus and walked for 1 minute to get to the hotel. I checked in on the 10th floor. I didn't take a look. Come to the map of Zhangsongben Street. I recommend this beautiful and quiet city. The service and details of the hotel are also great. I have always liked this hotel because I have stayed at the Prime Hotel in Osaka before. Very good, because this brand of hotel seems to be built next to the subway, travel is very convenient.

Just 5mins walk from Matsumoto stn, walk along the alley between Big Echo and McDonald's till the main intersection. Very convenient. Room was spacious, clean. Staffs were great. Buffet breakfast was served at the ground floor. Good selection of Japanese foods with some western foods, breads. The location is very good. Very near to the clock museum, Nakamachi street is further down the road. Matsumoto Museum of Art which was exhibiting Yayoi Kusama's art collections is also within walking distance, not far from Nakamachi street. Store our luggage at the hotel to continue our trip to Kamikochi, came back 2days later to collect my luggage, it was convenient since the hotel is located closed to Matsumoto stn. Will stay in this hotel again when i visit Matsumoto for the 3rd time.

I stayed briefly while visiting historical sites in the city. I have stayed in Matsumoto several times over the last 10-15 years, but this was my first time to stay at this hotel. It is well located perhaps 8-10 minutes or so walk from the station and all of the dining and entertainment options that are within walking distance of the station. Normally I stay at another hotel in Matsumoto, but the first two I tried were full, so I went with the Hotel Buena Vista. It is a very typical-for-Japan midrise 'business' hotel, showing it's age a bit but in relatively good condition. Room was average size for the hotel category (it's going to feel small if you're coming from outside Japan) and pretty spartan but not out of line for the category and price. I drove to the hotel, and one weird aspect is that one or two of the roads in the neighborhood have a very unfinished feel, like permanent detours and dead ends, which can make it feel a little odd if you're arriving by car. One nice feature, however, is the underground parking lot in the basement of the hotel. While the driveway to the parking area is quite narrow (call ahead if you're driving an SUV or larger minivan), the underground setup means it will be much more secure and also less hassle during winter vs other hotels in Matsumoto. Not everyone will appreciate the underground parking, but not many hotels in Matsumoto offer it, and it's one of the better features of the hotel. The lobby is clean but has a somewhat sterile feel to it and could use some softer surfaces and a design refresh to warm it up a bit and give a lighter and more welcome feel. Staff at this hotel have a higher level of English than any other hotel I've stayed at in Matsumoto. A plus if you don't speak or read Japanese... My room rate included the buffet breakfast in the dining room on the 14th (top) floor. The dining area has great views of the city, and the breakfast would have been wonderful, I am sure, except they ran out of a lot of the food before I arrived. Instead, probably half of the dishes were gone and they didn't bother refilling them. No apology, no attempt to make it better, no refund or credit. That's probably the biggest disappointment during my stay. Two lessons here ... one is that they don't stock much in the way of additional foods for the buffet, so if you're hungry, you'll need to go early before they run out. The other is that if you're paying for breakfast (i.e., not included in the price of your room), you'll want to think twice about eating here because they have a take-it-or-leave-it attitude if the food runs out. My advice: leave it. Though it could be very helpful if you're on a diet and trying to lose weight...! It may no longer be the case, but the hotel had literally busloads of tourists traveling in bulk from a nearby Asian country, so it was packed. At a couple of times during the day / night, the lobby and nearby driveways and sidewalks were jammed wi

First, new or clean. There is room rather than the narrow reception and hallways that are common in capsules. And it is good to have a large bath as well as a shower. However, shoe lockers are not high enough and narrow. The slippers inside are also worn down, so it looks dirty. There are few free herbal teas, PCs and popular manga in the shared free space, but you can read it freely, so it is a good base for trips that you want to reduce in price. And downstairs is a building with a bookstore and Daiso, so it's good for killing time. It is very close to Matsumoto Station so you can go to rice etc. immediately. The woman at the reception is a bit bad, so it is hard to hear. I spoke to English to foreigners, but I laughed a little at how easy it is to hear. In addition, although it is a motorcycle trip, a bicycle parking space is necessary, but there is only a little bicycle parking space under the building, but it is unsafe because it is shared with building users and cram bicycles and near vending machines, so it can not be said that it is scary because it is not safe. Moreover, since the entrance is a backstreet, there is no fear of mischief. There is a covered bicycle parking lot of a partner pachiya and it is very good, but 600 yen is expensive. It is the best if about 100 yen.

The hotel is very close to the castle: Perfect location! It is also pretty close from the station (less than 10min). The staff is very polite and helpful. They upgraded us and gave us a room with a view over the castle... The room was very confortable and spacious; it was the best room (and best bed, soooo large and comfy) we had during our whole trip through Japan, and it was really pleasant to see the castle from the shower. Thank you again to the staff for upgrading us! We paid around 120€ without breakfast for one night. 100% recommend this hotel when staying in Matsumoto.
