I arrived around midnight checked in the room 304. Naturally I went to the 3rd floor to find the room, but there were only 301, 302 and 303 over there. So I came down and asked the front desk. It turned out that I had to go to the 2nd floor and then take a small staircase to go to a 3rd floor corridor under the attic to get to another attached section of the building which contained 304, 305 and other rooms. Odd, isn’t it? No elevator access to the room and I had to go through a claustrophobic hallway and pass a small service door to get to the room. I also noticed that there was no door to separate the shower or the bathroom from the room. So nothing to stop all the moisture and odor to get to the room. still not a deal breaker. Anyway, I went out for a quick bar hopping and came back at about 2 am super tired to crash in my bed. But the room was way too hot. around 30 C (85F). I tried to lower the temp on the AC controller on the wall but It didn’t work. So I thought to give the front desk a call. To my surprise there was NO PHONE in the room! So I had to go down through the narrow hallway and staircase and all that jazz to get to the front desk. The guy at the front desk told me that they intentionally disabled the room temperature control because some guest abused the system (what?!) and he had to set the temp for my room himself. So he did that. He also told me to use my cellphone or to use what’s app on my phone to call the front desk. I went back to the room, and unfortunately the room was still hot. No change whatsoever. I couldn’t successfully add them to what’s app either, so I just called them on my cell phone, which would cost me international roaming charges (from US to Europe). The guy said the AC seems to be broken. I requested to change room to one of the lower levels hoping those would be cool. Note that my trip was in September, the outside temperature was very chill (around 10 degree Celsius) but my room had no window to open and somehow it was oddly hot, perhaps because it was just under the attic or some other reason like that. The front desk told me that the other rooms are occupied and he offered to give me a fan instead. I accepted, but then a few minutes later he called me and said that they don’t have any fan, but he can put me in room 305. Fortunately room 305 had a window which I could open to keep the room cool, however I had to leave the curtains open all night. Long story short, it took me from 2 am to 3:30 am to get to bed and finally get some shut eye until the bright daylight woke me up at about 6:30 am and gave me a bad headache. This was my first night experience in this supposedly fancy hotel which costed me $160 a night off-season. I got only 3 hours of sleep and a bad headache. No working AC, No elevator access, No phone to call the front desk, No bathroom door. The room 305 also didn’t have any phone in it, but its bathroom did have a door. The next day I talked to some of the other guests at the

We stayed here for one night on our way from the Uk to Germany. As we stayed on a Sunday night we got a great rate and upgraded to a "Charming room" with a great spa bath in a massive bathroom. Room was nice although in some places furniture looked a bit worn around the edges. As the hotel was fairly empty we had a quiet and peaceful night sleep in a super comfy bed. Breakfast was included in the rate and good. We really enjoyed the central location with everything in walking distance and although the underground parking garage is not cheap at Euro 25 it was super convenient. Leuven is a lovely place and we would happily stay again in this hotel on our travels.

The hotel is in an excellent location for all travellers and particularly those without a car being directly opposite the train station, it is attached to a good brasserie and within a short walking distance from the town centre. As we had larger size luggage the staff assisted in carrying them up the stairs to our room. The rooms are spacious with pleasant clean décor the bed was very comfortable, the ensuite was clean and functional. Good Wi-Fi in the room. A great buffet breakfast with both cooked and continental available. All staff we friendly, polite and attentive. Would stay again if we return to area.

I've been to Leuven a couple of times now but this was my first stay at Hotel Malon and I'm torn about this review. The location is terrific, right across the street from the train station that made getting from and to Leuven from Brussels very easy. The square outside Hotel Malon is typically active and fun with a number of interesting restaurants and bars. I liked the people who work at Hotel Malon. I have a bit of an odd routine (e.g. early-morning breakfast in the cafe in my workout clothes while doing some work at the breakfast table) but they were very accommodating. But my room was awful. I had no windows. I had no TV. I had no air-conditioning, only a fan that didn't do much to cool my room during the relatively warm nights we had during my stay. (The ability to open a window most likely would have mitigated this issue.) They have no exercise room, but they also have no elevator so after my daily runs around Leuven I got even more exercise walking up 3 flights of stairs (which I don't mind). However walking up 3 flights with luggage is not fun. Normally, I would give them a terrible rating, but the location and staff prevent me from doing so. My advice: Call ahead and make sure you get a room with windows and a TV.

The appartments are big and they have all you need to stay some nights. We stayed in a familiar appartment for 3 adults and my daughter 3 years old, and it was very comfortable. It was a semi-duplex, with an eating-room/kitchen with 2 beds and 1 bathroom in the ground floor, and 2 beds more in the upper floor. We stayed in the New Year and we could dinner calmly, it was not noisy. On the other hand, the upper floor has a very low roof, so I hurt my head, when I go up. Stairs was inestable.

I usually book rooms in hotel chains, as I know what I to expect, and am wary of unexpected and inconsistent B&Bs. However, this was an excellent. The owners were very welcoming. Most important to me were the quiet and clean bedroom and nice shower. They have put in a few unique features, like having a radio and lights in the shower. Breakfast was standard continental breakfast with cereals, cold meats, breads and tea/coffee. However, there were also boiled and scrambled eggs that came from the 10-11 chicken that they have in a coop in the garden. I also noticed some rabbits roaming and fish in a pond. The weather wasn’t suitable, but in the summer, it would be stunning to have breakfast outdoors. The price was very good value for money. Location was great. There is a bus stop to the city centre nearby, though I preferred to walk everywhere. In summary, highly recommended and worth 5/5.

We booked this hotel to avoid a ride back home after a party so we did not had any particular expectations of this hotel. However our stay was a pleasant surprise. Our room was modern and very spacious. In fact it could meet up with bigger, more high-end hotel chains. The Carpinus hotel is located at the central square in Herent. There’s plenty of parking space but unfortunately there’s also a church which bells are ringing from 7am onwards, every 30 minutes. So earplugs could be useful if you want to have a long sleep. There’s also a restaurant which seems to be famous for its sushi but we did not try it. The breakfast buffet is served in the restaurant and although it’s simple, most things are provided in order to have a decent meal to start the day.
