We had originally booked at Easter to stay at this Premier Inn, but it was no problem to move dates due to lockdown. This was part of a mini break involving a visit to Highclere Castle, which is no more than 15-20 minutes away. Clearly in times of the Covid-19 virus a few things have changed, but it felt very safe, with clear arrows for where to go to check in, sanitisers and other measures in place. The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, I did get the sense it is much quieter than normal. Inside our room I was really pleased to find the twin I asked for was one double, and one single bed. Perfect for my teenage daughter who does not want to share a bed anymore with a menopausal mother!! The aircon was very welcome to say the least. The hotel room was spotless and gleaming, you can tell they are really keeping everything extra clean. You still get free tea and coffee in the rooms which is fabulous, and free wi-fi. Convenience wise you are right near the town centre but the hotel was very quiet, I heard no traffic once in my room. There is an underground carpark nearby but I used a parking app to get a very cheap space right across from the hotel. It was a one minute walk to Victoria Park, where you could walk along the Kennet & Avon canal (beautiful!), or about two minutes across the road to the town centre which is very smart, with extensive shops. Breakfast has changed, sadly no help yourself (probably better for the waistline!). An attentive and cheerful waitress took our orders so everything was freshly cooked. For £8.99 each it was unlimited drinks (tea/coffee/fruit juice), things like toast, pain au chocolate and crossiants, yoghurts and cereal PLUS a cooked breakfast on top. So you won't go hungry. The cooked breakfast was ok, not the best but average. Still good value for money. To serve the waitress would put our tray onto a table nearby for us to help ourselves too, so less people were touching plates etc. Great idea at this current time. For information there is no dinner service at the hotel but plenty of places to eat in the town.

The room was lovely and very comfortable. Staff were also very accommodating and friendly. Unfortunately, I left the room without my charger after having used it that evening. On returning to collect my bag (I left it behind the bar whilst on a course) I enquired as to whether the charger had been found, but it had miraculously disappeared! It was no longer in the room plugged in to the socket I had left it in, it wasn't in my bag (that hadn't left the building) and I certainly didn't take it on the course with me. This is a huge inconvenience as I now have no way of charging my phone which I rely on to communicate with my elderly parents. Apart from this, the hotel was very nice.

Hotel in nice position, handy for local shops and restaurants. Breakfast was good. Interior of room was your average Premier Inn decor. Despite hotel being at very low capacity the room they allocated had awful view overlooking a flat roof and air con machinery. Bed was really uncomfortable but as it was only a 2 night stay we didn't complain. First evening we chose to eat in the restaurant. We wanted a nice restaurant experience so when asked if we were eating in or out opted for in and made our selection from the extremely limited choice. Really disappointed when our meal arrived in a cardboard box, and the portion was really small. Hand sanitisers were conveniently placed and masks to be worn inside. No room cleaning during stay which is fine but was surprised there was only 2 teas and 2 coffees in the room for 2 adults 2 nights. 1 drink each per day! I understand we are in the middle of a pandemic and things have changed drastically, but this only made our short break even more important. All in all very disappointed with this Premier Inn experience, wasn't as good as previous stays in different locations.

In order to take the children to the nearby school for an interview, stayed for one night, so there is not much demand for the hotel. The facilities in the room are general, the beds are put together, not very comfortable, the health is OK, the breakfast is too poor, the overall feeling is not acceptable for the holiday! The decoration at the front desk is ok, warm and elegant!

This was our first time back in at least 8 years. We stayed in a suite with a small balcony. The room was large and on two levels, a sofa area being in the lower area. The room was quite warm so had to have the balcony doors open for a while. Unfortunately couldn’t do this through the night as the road is quite noisy outside. You can’t control the temperature in the room as it is a standard temperature pumped throughout the hotel. The bed was comfy and the bathroom large. Tea and coffee making facilities. Our one observation that we thought was poor was that a turn down service was done, but the mugs we had used for a cup of tea in the afternoon hadn’t been cleared so were therefore not clean if we wanted tea in bed in the morning. We had dinner in the restaurant (7 course tasting menu) which was fabulous. The only thing we didn’t like was the final dessert which was a fabulous chocolate dish, but had olive oil poured over it. Wasn’t to our taste! Breakfast the following morning was good. A good selection of items to chose from. All in all an enjoyable stay and won’t leave it so long until next time.

Booked here for just the one night and it served it's purpose. Literally only needed a place to sleep. The bedroom was big, warm and tidy. The bed itself was comfortable and I had a good nights sleep. At the £26 I paid for the one night, it was good value for money. An example of not having to spend too much to get a good nights sleep. The only thing to consider is that the only places to eat are based in the service station itself. But it contains a couple of nice cafe's (Arlo's serves main meals) which if you show your room key you can receive a 20% discount. There's also a Mark's & Spencer's food shop and a Burger King. If you're looking for anything more, then you will probably find something closer to Newbury itself, 15 minutes down the road.

We stayed at newbury tothill after staying at Littlehampton travelodge, After very little greetin I was given a key (this was not cleaned before giving it too me like it was in tge other travelodge) went to tge room which looked like the two travel cots were just thrown in the room, no sheets either and an extra single bed, after asking for tge bed to be removed as it did not need to be there, tge person who was on reception seemed very reluctant but did put the bed away. The floor was gross it had not been hoovered, there were handprints all over the door mirror and the bathroom had an overwhelming smell of pee! I had to buy flash wipes to clean the bedroom and bathroom before my family (1year old twins, 4yr old daughter and my husband) could even get out of the car! Considering your websites boast how well you are coping with the current covid situations THIS TRAVELODGE IS NOT!! not in our room anyway.. yes I did see the same guy who gave me the key spraying the doors but I can guarantee the room was not cleaned to standard at all! I have also taken photos which I will be more than willing to share with management should they wish to contact me! The only thing I regret apart from choosing travelodge is wasting the money on two nights and not cancelling as soon as we got into the room but after travelling the children needed somewhere to sleep!

We retreated to The Furze Bush Inn after a day of bucking the crowds at Highclere Castle. Furze Bush is a very pleasant and attractive, low-key inn. The staff is especially friendly and helpful. Being clueless about the local beers, I was offered a flight of several for tasting, which was a great introduction. Our room was very clean and quite comfortable. Dinner was delicious as was breakfast. Note to those who are unaccustomed to it: a duvet is used on the bed rather than a top sheet, and face cloths are not provided.

We live in Newbury and last visited, what is now the Pheasant, several years ago. As a Wedding Anniversary treat and having had positive feed-back from friends, we decided to revisit the Pheasant. And what a pleasant surprise! Friendly welcome from the charming staff and a delightful warm table next to the central wood-burning stove. The Pheasant has had a splendidly quirky interior decor change, obviously based on the pheasant and country- life. I hit my head on the “duck” sign on the front door just like most entrants! Pate starters and scrumptious venison pies were excellent. Prices were very reasonable for such a splendid meal. We strongly recommend the Pheasant and shall return, (remembering to “duck” at the entrance!)

We stayed for one night in the 'cottage'- a large comfortable room and big bathroom. There was a private outside seating area, which would be nice in warmer weather. Appreciated the coffee-maker and quality bedding. There are various dining areas in the pub, which were busy with festive diners, and we enjoyed dinner in the orangery (with open kitchen) at the back. The starter of white onion soup with rosemary was very good, but it wasn't until afterwards that I realised it should have come with garlic crisps (it didn't). Some bread would have been appreciated, but then we eat out much more often in France (where it is provided as a matter of course with every meal) than the UK. Sourdough bread or seeded rolls would have gone well with the soup. I enjoyed the tuna poke bowl. My husband's chicken piri piri was very bland and did not appear to have much piri piri, if any. Apart from this, we enjoyed our dinner. Breakfast was delicious, especially the avocado, poached eggs and smoked salmon on sourdough toast.

Four of us stayed here overnight as we were visiting Highclere Castle and its too far to visit from the North East without an overnight stay. Easy drive down as it is mostly straight motorway. Takes around 4hr 40. We stopped off at Sprotbrough waterfalls near Doncaster for picnic lunch. We arrived at Burghclere around 5pm and were shown to our rooms by the luscious Louise. Thankfully the nanas were in a ground floor room as they would have struggled to get upstairs on the steep narrow staircase. We had booked a table for dinner prior to our arrival and as the weather was glorious we sat outside. Although the menu was reduced there was still plenty to choose from. The fish and chips, burgers and ham and egg were all devoured. After a comfy nights sleep we had a magnificent full English, again outside as the weather hit lucky for us. Lashings of hot tea and proper bread for the toast. A good start to the day. There is coffee and tea making facilities in your room and small pouches of shower/shampoo. We had an iron and ironing board in our upstairs room. No wardrobe so may b needed it you are staying for any length of time. Needing petrol after the drive down thankfully there is a garage a few minutes away and Highclere is only a few minutes drive away. We probably wont return to Carpenters as once you've been to Highclere you dont need to go again but wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for a stay while visiting the area. Great stay in difficult times and we were so glad that the hotel part opened in time for us to enjoy our trip to Highclere.

Greater nicely on arrival, shown to our room on ground floor called penclose. Room decorated shabby chic, good size and had tea and coffee. Bath nice with heated floor. Bed comfortable. Food not bad in the evening, but a little over priced. Breakfast good with lots of choice. Only issues. Room right on the road, and I mean 6 inches from the room so even though triple glazing you heard traffic most of the evening. Fire exit light right in the room, bright enough to read at night which made sleeping hard. Pillows too soft. Door to courtyard outside room squeaked all night, even woke us up. Told lady as she said people had been complaining for weeks, WD40!!! Windows in bathroom dirty. 4 poster bed clearly had been broken. Massive plus though staff were excellent. So I’m afraid average 3.

When we first arrived, the First two ladies we spoke was lovely and friendly and very welcome , we then found out we had to pay for parking (we was staying for a week so was quite expensive) £12 a day . this isn’t stated when you book. we got to our room to found the standard of the room was not what was shown in the pictures , the window looked as if it hadn’t been cleans in a few weeks , we understand that you’re in a seaside town and the window are going to get very dirty but you wouldn’t of be able to scraped the thick layer dirt off! When opening the window there was mold growing on the window opening. My sons bed was against the wall by the window , we were right by a street light that came thought the curtains, and the draft coming though the window which meant we had to move our sons bed next to ours! For a family of three who was staying a week , we had hardly any room to hang our clothes , literally three coat hangers ! So we had to live out our suite cases , there is a long light behind the double bed , this was full of grim and dirt and was broken! The bath have some handles in them one was broken and the rest was full of dirt , around Mirror in the bathroom was had marks all around it! The bathroom floor had dirt and grim behind the door where it looked like it hadn’t been clean! The sink again had thick dirt around it , our hand was didn’t even have hand wash in it , it had the shower and body wash stuff in it! The usb socket next to the bed was broken. We had cleans in four times during our stay they only hovered once and never once changed our bedding and what with a two year old wasn’t very helpful! They didn’t really do much to the room apart from change our dirty towels! We ate in the restaurant down stairs the first night we arrived and we wish we didn’t , the food was horrible, the burger tasted like it had been cooked in a microwave , my sons sausage was over cooked , my partner’s pizza look amazing but when he tired picking it up it feel apart and didn’t taste right! There was a cat that kept coming into the restaurant, the staff kept trying to get it out and keep it out which is a positive. On a whole the travelodge looked nice from the outside , the room was horrible. the staff where lovely and welcoming can’t fault them enough! We normally always stay in travelodges if we travelling and we’ve never had a problem until this one .

I stayed here with my mum and daughters and it was lovely. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lovely smiley woman and she was extremely helpful. Check in was quick. When we entered the room, it was slightly chilly so we turned the radiator on and it heated the room up with a couple of minutes (we could see why they didn’t leave it on as it got warm quickly). The room was clean, the bath and shower were great and the Sleepeeze mattress was the best mattress I’ve ever slept on. We didn’t have breakfast but when I can downstairs to get more milk for our room, I could see the social distancing rules were adhered to. We have a disabled badge and one of the male workers (I don’t know his name) saved us a space when we went out, which was very much appreciated. If I could change one thing it would be that I wish there was a plug near the tv as my daughters brought there fire stick with but couldn’t use it. Minor detail. All in all, I’d definitely stay here again!

I stayed here and you certainly get what you pay for. Room was basic but clean and all you needed to rest your head for a night. I unfortunately left my headphones at the hotel and was distraught when I found out as I live 3 hours away, however the manager was more than accommodating and sent them back via an envelope I sent them and I could not be more thankful. It may not seem like a lot, but my headphones are needed for my everyday so when they arrived back safely I was overjoyed. Nothing is too much for the manager, really nice and would recommend staying again! Thank you so so much.

We stayed here overnight as going out with friends. There was a derby match on with Fleetwood so bar filled up pretty quickly after the game. But what a fab atmosphere. There was a lovely gentleman that greeted us on arrival & advised the car park was full up but gave us a free voucher to park at Travelodge. There was no places at the time but after 15 mins wait we secured a parking place. Said gentleman (concierge) is by far a massive asset to the hotel. Our room was lovely & view spectacular, everything you needed for a night away plus more. We went into the bar fir some lunch & although it seemed to take ages it was well worth the wait. We were very late getting back 3.30am (dirty stop outs) but were greeted so warmly on our return & had a chat & laugh with security. Breakfast this morning was amazing, only down fall was no black pudding & fried eggs a little sad but the scrambled eggs were as light as a feather. I burnt the toast & set fire to it (my fault) but the staff just laughed, very nicely & sorted it. Check out as check in was as smoith as ever & lots of chat. We will definitely return as quite simply, the whole experience was a poor joy

This is a tremendous place to stay if you want to enjoy Blackpool. Number One is located on South Beach close to where the illuminations start. This means being an easy walk from the tram stop that gives easy access to the whole of Blackpool (for a £5 a day hop on hop off ticket). The trams run back until around midnight. A taxi to the Tower is about £7.50 if you prefer. And if you want to walk this is just as easy and completely free... There are dedicated parking spaces and plenty of on road free spaces that are free and safe. Number one has a tremendous welcome - the two girls that greet you, escort you personally to your room to go through the facilities and look after you at the well stocked bar are friendly, happy and helpful. The help, generosity and welcome is extended by Mark who was able to provide first class recommendations for restaurants and shows (we took up the recommendation to see Kinky Boots which was exceptional) and he was kind enough to provide a discount code for the Winter Garden. What strikes you when visiting is the quality of the decor, fixtures and furniture throughout Number One. The owners take great pride in their property and it shows. It’s modern, funky, clean and bright. The rooms are all well appointed, clean and well maintained. We had number 12 on the third floor. This is serviced by a lift or staircase. The sea view is good and the room boasts tv, whirlpool bath, shower, remotes for lighting, small balcony, seating area and comfy bed. The box of nick nacks that could be little essentials in the wardrobe is a super touch. The bar area is a generous social area and the range of drinks wide and various. Service is until 11:00pm after which time and honesty bar works if you want a night cap or longer chatting. Breakfast selections are made the evening before to save wastefulness and works really well. It’s a wide menu along with a buffet for fruit, cereals etc. The quality of what Mark cooks is exceptional. The fresh orange is a must. It can be cold in Blackpool but Number 1 can be really hot... Number 1 is a credit to the owners and staff. An award winner. And one of our favourites from our travels - no mean feat.

I just don`t know where to start with this "HOTEL"...I had read the reviews which are mostly negative so I wasn`t expecting anything special...2 stars, basic but they do a breakfast and are close to the amenities. On entering the place, it was obvious that the decor and carpets were rotten. strong, musty smell but the lady seemed pleasant and we were given our room keys...Nothing, and I mean, NOTHING, could have prepared me for the nightmare I was walking into. The room are the smallest I have ever seen. I have a potting shed with more space!..The toilet area had a large puddle of coloured fluid around it and the lighting area above the shower had so many dead insects of different sizes that a field biologist would have had a field-day. I complained to the lady about the water around the toilet and she said I could have the room next door. She obviously didn`t like me complaining as she put me in, what I can only describe as a cleaning cupboard..8ft x 11ft as a form of punishment. I declined her offer of the cupboard and said i would have to avoid using that area. Though I was told it would be fixed..it never was in 3 days. There was the issue with "Towelgate". "no towels"," I`ll get her to put them in your room", "no towels", "I`ll put some in your room", "no towels", "fetch em yourself!!!....My friends room was even smaller than mine and you know a room is small when you cannot even get a wardrobe in it!!.(He never did get any towels so I gave him 1 of mine)..There were 6 of us staying at this place and we all had the issues. No hot water in 2 of them, no heating in 1 of them, I tried to open the windows in my room and they all appeared to be locked shut and the toilet window had the handle snapped off. After 2 fire alarms at 7am in the morning, I felt this place had some real issues. We asked for breakfast in the morning, told that would be ok, went out for the evening and on our return, we were told that they had cancelled our breakfast because they thought we were going to "get pissed" and wouldn`t be up in time for breakfast..Unbelievable..(Does 2 gin and tonics for a 57 year old lady count as "getting pissed") Thankfully, this actually did us a favour as the dining room is disgusting and I doubt it would have a food hygiene certificate and there are plenty of cheap cafes just a 2 minute walk away and they are clean with good hot food. All in all, this has to be the worst place I have ever visited. I would suggest that the new owners have bitten off more than they can handle, they are friendly, only 3 people, but this establishment needs an awful lot of time and money spent on it to bring it up to the very basic level....enjoy the photos!!....oh, and as for the "Pool" that some people keep mentioning, the only pool I saw was the the one in my bathroom. Luckily, we, as a group could see the funny side and was certainly an experience but, listening to everyone complaining at the reception, makes for a toxic environment. I don`t
