This hotel is great for those looking for a place to crash at night between working or vacationing - it's neither a ritzy hotel nor a traditional ryokan. The room smelled slightly of smoke even though it was a non-smoking room. Staff are helpful and friendly, and breakfast is halfway decent.

My nephew arranged this hotel for us. It was perfect. Easy to walk from Yuki train station - just a few blocks. Check in was easy with friendly people. It smelled strongly of cigarette smoke when we entered, but were glad they have a whole separate building for nonsmokers. There is a large ofuro (Japanese bath) with separate rooms for men and women. The breakfast was adequate - mostly Japanese style, but a few western things. We don't mind rice for breakfast occasionally, so it was fine for us. We had a room on the top (7th) floor and were excited to see beautiful mountains and even Mt. Fuji as it was a clear day. My nephew lives in Yuki and picked us up for dinner. We only spent one night.

A 3-storey guesthouse located on a branch of the Tomoeha River. Megumi speaks enough English to communicate the facilities of the hotel and she is very welcoming. It is very convenient to be able to rent a bicycle from her to ride around town. I slept in one of the western dorm-style beds and it was very comfortable. A thoughtful touch is spare earplugs at the tea station upstairs. One thing I am finding is that when a listing says "shared bathroom facilities, that could mean any number of things! Here, the showers are clean and good, and there are 2 separate and lockable shower cubicles, can be used by men or women. There are toilets on every floor. The guesthouse has a good free breakfast, I had some boiled eggs and a savoury pastry. Toast and jam is also available. They also do hot drinks and meals if needed. It's a reasonable walk from the train station, but it's flat walking.

Because it is in the countryside, there are few high-rise buildings. You can see the buildings and signs of the hotel when you leave the north exit of Furukawa Station. It is even more eye-catching at night, with the green neon lights, which is a five-minute walk away. There is an AEON store within a ten-minute walk of the hotel. There are few people and the price of clothes is good. I went to Sano Ole from Furukawa. Compared with Tokyo, it was more calm and not so hard. Those who like shopping can consider it. The hotel is divided into a main building and an annex. The room I booked is in the main building. The first breakfast was the worst I have ever eaten in a Japanese hotel, similar to the level of a small domestic hotel. I had breakfast in the other restaurant the next day, which was obviously better. It seems that the two pavilions have different treatments. What a mess. I didn't pay attention to booking a non-smoking room. The smell of smoke covered my body as soon as I entered the room. Opening the window, turning on the air conditioner, and turning on the air purifier would not help. I didn't sleep all night, and there was a secretion in my pharynx immediately. After negotiating with the front desk, no one changed rooms. The next night, there were very few guests in the hotel and did not change. I held my nose for two nights.
