My husband and I booked a room for the weekend of July 4th. We always stay in Hilton hotels and are Hilton Honors members. As suggested in the emails I received from Hilton (and to help maintain everyone’s safety) we checked in through the app the night before and requested a digital key so that we didn’t have to stop at the front desk. We also picked our room and told them when we planned to arrive, as is normal per app check in. On our way to the hotel, we picked up dinner from a local restaurant and drove to the hotel, ready to head up to the room to eat. We walk past the front desk, go up to our floor and my digital key doesn’t work. I head down to the desk. There is one person working at the desk so I have to wait my turn. I told the kid I had checked in thru the app and my digital key didn’t work and first he asked that I demonstrate with my phone how I tried to open the door. He asked multiple times for details about what the key thing did (it flashed yellow.) He issued me a keycard. I headed back upstairs. Keycard doesn’t work. Same flashing yellow as before. We tried several times. I head back down to the desk. There is still just one person working, so I have to wait my turn. When I get up there, the same kid asks me to demonstrate how I used the keycard and what exactly happened. He takes my keys and recodes then or whatever and sends me back upstairs. Keycard still doesn’t work. I head downstairs. There is still one person working so I have to wait my turn. When I get up there, the kid once again asks me if I know how to use the keycard and asks again what happens when I hold the keycard up. He wants to see my keys and recode them again. I protest. This course of action isn’t working. He insists. Keycard still doesn’t work. I head downstairs. There is now another person there-perhaps a manager? He walks past me in line as he returns luggage carts and then proceeds to clean the coffee maker (that is closed off and not available for the people staying at the hotel per COVID). He sees me waiting. The kid at the desk sees the Manager. I wait my turn in line. For 10 minutes. Keep in mind this is my fourth trip to the desk, each time waiting at least 5 minutes. This time when I get up there, I kind of loose my cool. No yelling but I definitely said that I was frustrated, that my dinner was now cold, that I had done everything they had suggested in their emails to me and that I just want in my room. The kid says he can switch me to a different room. I say that’s fine as long as it is on the same floor on the same side with a king bed (we had paid extra for a lake view). He didn’t think he could do that. At this point, the manager finally comes over and asks if he can just let me in the room and they can work on the lock while we eat. YES! YES! Please do this. As he heads upstairs with me, he once again questions if I know how to use a keycard/digital key and scolds me for not h

COVID-19 canceled A LOT this year so my husband and I decided to have a little getaway to Madison, WI to visit some breweries and antique malls (while wearing a mask and staying socially distant of course). We stayed at the Hotel Ruby Marie because we love quaint B & B's and historic boutique hotels. We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend this charming little hotel. COVID-19 precautions are in place which made the stay a little different. Prior to arriving Dillon gave us instructions that we would need to check-in with the bartender from the Up North bar if we arrived after 2:30pm...we got a kick out of that. We were also told that our room would not be serviced during our stay. I asked Dillon for extra towels and wash-cloths since that would be the case and he remembered my request and gave us plenty. The room was very clean. There was even hand sanitizer in the room...nice pandemic touch! They have an excellent protocol in place for cleaning the rooms between guests...after it's been used they don't even enter the room for 24 hours! For breakfast we were treated to the Lakeview Bakery & Deli. Normally the Lakeview is closed on the weekends but Audrina came in and made meals for the hotel guests. The food was yummy and Audrina was a delight! She even gave us cookies to enjoy later in our room and cookies for our road trip home! Love Wisconsin hospitality! Thank you innkeeper Joshua for a really nice stay! It was a much needed pandemic getaway!

My husband and I spent 2 nights here visiting old college friends. This is a historical house that has been renovated and impeccably furnished. Guests can relax on the main floor which includes a large living room two sitting areas and heated porch. Views of Lake Mendota are spectacular. Jazz is plays in the background, books and magazines abound, cookies in the cookie jar, tea available. Breakfast is continental and more than adequate. We were upgraded to the Oscar Wilde room which is enormous with its own sitting area and walk in shower and jacuzzi tub as well as a king size bed. The owners are friendly and welcoming. The Inn is walking distance to the UW campus and downtown. We loved our stay and highly recommend it.

First - the good.: The location is right in the middle of about 15 or so assorted bars and restaurants. You don't have to walk more than two blocks for anything. The room had a REAL coffee maker with REAL coffee - quite a change from the usual. The bath towels were better than mine at home, quite a difference from the usual hotel towels. The bed was very comfortable, but I wish I had brought my pillow - but that is normal. The bad: The room did not have one of the stated amenities - the microwave. I did not need it, but it is listed. It is impossible to leave the toilet seat up - it fell while I was using the toilet and had to be held up during subsequent trips. I know, this IS Madison, WI, but why did you not list Fox News Channel in your channel lineup? It is available; I know as I found it along with many others not listed. The Ugly: The large cabinet in the room had drawer pulls entirely missing and there was a large cobweb near the desk - within three inches of the lit lamp. Now, to the two things I did not know about when I booked through Hotels.com: There is NO manned front desk. You basically check yourself in and out and, if something runs out - like the facial tissue did - where do you get more? Also not mentioned when I booked was the parking situation. You either pay $15.00 a night for one of two available parking spots in a lot a block away, or you pay an exorbitant amount in public parking farther away. Also, the windows had frosted glass. Don't know if there was any view, as you could not see through the windows. Altogether a quirky little place. Not very expensive and in a great location but with some very obvious flaws. Would I stay there again? I think not.

The hotel facilities are quite four-star, but UMW University is predestined, and the lobby and rooms have university mascots or logos. There are not many tricks for early drinking, typical American early drinking, with fruits, yogurt, etc., but during the epidemic, there is heat and social distancing, and can eat enough. The location of this hotel is great. Just in downtown. There are many restaurants within three to four minutes walking distance, and it is also very close to the lake. There are several supermarkets around, and the fresh market is only four or five minutes' walk away. It is 3-5 minutes walk from the bus station. The towels are white and the thick soft towels that Americans like to use, which is very comfortable. The sheets and pillowcases were white and clean. Lotion and shampoos are the same brand used in a five-star hotel in Shanghai. Breakfast and coffee on the lower floor. The bath water was super hot and comfortable. Of course, like other foreign hotels, toothbrushes, toothpaste and slippers are not provided. This is expected so I prepared it in advance. All the hotel staff were very friendly and would be happy to help. Booked on Ctrip. Very convenient. Next time I go to this hotel!

Jessica the Sales Manager from The Hotel Indigo approached and so kindly offered to host me for a night. I’m an influencer, and could not be more excited to come! While, I was comped the night, I had the best experience and would totally come back anytime on my own. I cannot thank her enough for this experience! Truthfully, I have stayed in pretty much every other hotel in Madison over my 5+ years here (I literally don’t know why), and I wish I was staying here all along! :) The hotel is SO cool, there are neon signs on every floor, the art is beyond, and the hotel smells truly like a dream. My room was STUNNING with beautiful floor to ceiling windows, the comfiest bed I have ever slept in before. The bathroom was great so clean with great lighting. The building used to be an old paint factory. Each floor is dedicated to an influential person from Wisconsin. The breakfast was so yummy! The neighborhood is my favorite part of part of Madison. Right across from Festival Foods this extraordinary supermarket. Emma was so amazing and personable. We had a great time chatting and she told me so many amazing recommendations in the area. After living here for all of college and now some time after I thought I knew everything, but she told me about so many places I have never heard of. I forgot to bring an iPhone charger with me, and was going to go out and try to find one, but she let me borrow her PERSONAL charger for the whole night and following morning. Now that is hospitality! Hannah went above and beyond. She came to my room and took content of me. She moved every which way to make sure we THE shot. She was so patient, helpful and kind. She helped me with every request I had and I could not be more grateful that I met her! She really made my experience so special here and I’ll never forget it! Everyone come stay here I could not recommend it enough! I can’t wait to come back one day and sincerely wish I could move in! Currently, I have already checked out and am sitting in the lobby writing this review sad to leave this special place. I love it here!

Stayed here for three days while in Madison for work. I’ve stayed at other hotels in town but selected this one because it was a little more reasonably priced – but sadly it should’ve been much more reasonably priced. From the outside and the area around it doesn’t appear to be that dated but once inside the hallways, rooms and stairwell show their age. First of all I got to the point where I stopped using the front entry because it always reeked of smoke. I had a room on the top floor and my first beef was the room was practically hot. It took A lot of finagling to make the temperature decent. Then the bathroom door absolutely did not stay open. I finally wedged a towel at the bottom because it was bothering me so much to have the door slam every time I walked in there. Next thing I noticed was the line of crumbling ceiling paint and plaster near my window. This crumbling plaster was also noted in the stairwell to the point where pieces of plaster had actually fallen onto the floor (see pictures). I started taking the stairwell because of the overwhelming stench of cigarettes every time I walked in the lobby door. I had a couple of bottles of water that I put in the fridge. The next morning they were frozen solid. In an attempt to try and adjust the temperature I had to pull the fridge out at which point I noticed soda or coffee or something spilled all over the wall and not cleaned up. Breakfast is not included and there is virtually nothing offered other than basic coffee and black tea. This is very different from other holidayinns in town where they have manager happy hours etc. There is a restaurant on site where you can purchase breakfast for over $10. I did not eat breakfast or dinner in the restaurant. I did not use the pool. The fitness center is fine, has all the basic equipment. However for overall value it just doesn’t cut it as you get a lot more at other Holiday Inn’s for not much more money, and less crumbling building.

Never have I been treated so poorly in my life. First day bathroom was clean ladies hair all over in the tube, they had to move me to another room. Second day I had a group of 8 teenagers, We removed from the hotel yesterday on accusations that 2 of the teens were involved in allegations playing around in the hot tube and 2 kids 16 and 10 years old told there mom they we jumping on each other, and accusing them of acting sexually, but others were there. I was not heard out nor the teenager and both explained they were horse playing but they were not heard. The complaint came from a guest who was not there during the incident, supervisor there ignore the teens that were involved took sides of the mother who had a complaint coursed against my group. Teenagers were upset and crying trying to explain but were yelled at. We reserved 3 rooms and were removed based on bias and prejudices and feel we were not treated fairly. We were from out of town and had to pack up and leave without being heard. I get it teens can be a teen no excuse for horseplay but to coarse a story and remove us was bias and we were treated u fairly. We weren’t loud or disruptive very respectful but didn’t have any fighting chance.

The reason I didn’t score this hotel an above average rating is because the customer service from Faith was lacking at best. I would have like to be welcomed and thanked, which didn’t occur. No recognition of my Titanium Elite status, no water or snack as accustomed due to status. When asked for information, was short and not complete. Did not hand me back my driver license and credit card, and just placed them on the counter. These little details is what separates an average stay from an exceptional stay. In honesty, I did consider an even lower rating because the spa was warm at 94 degrees and not hot, and the room was cold and similar condition to what a previous guest experienced and detailed in his Dec review; apparently the problem still exist. I kept the rating average because in the end, it was a clean and comfortable hotel with good rates and location. Work on the service a bit and this location can be stellar.

I arrived to Madison this Saturday at 12:45 noon, there were not shuttle service and no notice of that in the website. Then the first room that was gave it to me smell to cigarrettes, then the second room the bed was bad, when we ( daughter and me) shower there was so much condensation that I almost slip and fell, the toilet pump was damage and stuck. I inform all of that at the front desk and they said a maintenance technician will come...that never happen. Then the front desk decide to change me the room again this is the 3rd room. This morning they told me that I need to move to another room because is for handicap. I said I need to work and if it is ok, I will be moving in the afternoon, when I arrived then another person in the front desk told me that is not because is for handicap is because it was a reservation already on that room, something that I dont believe since it was verify yesterday and no reservations were made. I said I can stay in that room since I have disabilities. I'm a handicap. They said no, now I'm in a room that is in the second floor. We stay at this Hampton Inn every time we visit Madison. It's a very convenient location for us and there are lots of restaurants nearby. The rooms are currently undergoing renovations but we had no trouble with any of that during our stay. The new rooms do not have any outlets on each side of the bed like other Hampton locations so if you like to charge your phone next to the bed while you sleep you will need to bring an extension cord with you. The newly renovated bathrooms no longer have any shelves under the sink so I guess they expect you to not have a lot of toiletries and if you do then you need to put them on the ground, there is also a lack of towel hangers as well. They don't clean the rooms daily anymore due to the Covid so plan on taking out your own rubbish and getting new towels if you need them. They have breakfast sandwiches that you can heat up along with cereal, yogurt and fruit for breakfast. There is no guest laundry at this location and the laundromat down the road has closed so if you need to wash your clothes you will need to find a laundromat but it won't be near the hotel.

The only ding for me is no fan in the bathroom. Normally I won't give a 5 star review if there isn't a bathroom fan, but everything else was great. I want to bring the bed and pillows home with me. I wanted to steal the pillows, but that's not my style ... but I really wanted to. Yes I did. Bed was comfortable. The room was clean. Maybe remodeled recently? It wasn't old or worn. Staff was great. I appreciated the consideration of the COVID virus. Masks on the staff. Bags of food and water for breakfast instead of an open dining room. Lots of lysol and hand sanitizer. Across the street, there was a shopping area with dining choices. My favorite Hampton was always Chincoteaue, VA and this maybe ties that .. or darn close.

Very nice place for the price $71. $71 was the price I was quoted over the phone and confirmed at check in. When I was handed a copy of my pre authorized bill, it had $79. I mentioned it to the clerk to which he replied it would be corrected on my final bill in the morning at check out. The bill was adjusted correctly as promised. I wonder if it would have been put through at the higher rate if I didn't notice it. I'm hoping it was just a mistake and not common practice. The room was great and clean, even the bathroom. During my shower the tub creaked and squeaked like it was ready to fall through the 3rd floor. Freaked me out a bit, hope it didn't bother the room beneath it. Had to leave before breakfast so I cannot comment. Oh ya, has elevator.
