When we went to Siracusa I booked only one night at this place. I knew i won’t have time to walk across the city to see the historic downtown so this was a price/value decision. I think this place worth the price. It is located at the bridge of the downtown. The place itself clean and nice. The owner is easy to communicate with and told everything about the city for 1 night stay. It is more like a student hostel but if you want to spend a night or two you won’t recognise that there other people around in the property. It has 2 bathrooms with small cabins, but if you leave early and return late it will never be busy. Car park right front of the hotel is free. But be careful. For you who travelling by car and you don’t want to risk, just use the automatic parking at the end of the street of the property. Don’t leave the car at the street... as far as you know Sicilian people (and even tourists) just simply can’t drive. I left the car for one night at the street, in the morning the by parkers broke my front numberplate and they scratched the rear corner. I’m telling you, if you don’t have a good insurance just don’t drive in Sicily at all!!

The location of the hotel is really great, right after crossing the canal of the Ortegia Peninsula. The reception staff is young, kind and very helpfull. The first surprise that greeted us was the "smallest" hotel room we ever encountered (the same reaction came from the couple of friends who came with us). The double bed in the center of the room (see attached pictures) filled about 75% - 80% of the room size and there was not much room to turn around. The second surprise was that "there is no wardrobe" and there is no bench / shelf where you can unpack your suitcase (except on the bed) and / or store your clothes. There is no connection between the pictures of the hotel rooms that appear on the hotel's website and / or Tripadvisor. The shower is quite small but it looked like it was recently renovated and apart from the size is quite good. The next morning we found quite a few people in the dining room which we think stayed "In another wing of the hotel" that is located elsewhere in the building. I am guessing that "in the other wing of the hotel" are the hidden rooms that appeared in the pictures on the hotel's website. Breakfast was a meal with all the ingredients of a typical Italian breakfast. In conclusion if you are looking for a room, for one or maximum two nights and are not afraid of a small crowded room this hotel can suit you.

Nicely appointed rooms in a great location in Siracusa. Enter the rugged wood doors on street level of one of the town’s many streets and walk up a marble staircase to Nostos, a modern boutique hotel with nice rooms and good staff. Location is great for touring both sections of the city. Note that breakfast is provided at a cafe down the block - great pastries, freshly squeezed OJ, wonderful coffee, and great service!

My husband and I stayed for two nights in this neat little hotel in Siracusa. We liked the location - just over the bridge in Ortiga and by the water, but on a quiet street off the beaten track. We parked on the mainland in a public lot close to the bridge and walked our suitcases over to the hotel - very easy - and while it turned out there was parking just outside the hotel on the day we arrived, we were pleased that we had opted for a public lot where we did not have to worry about parking in restricted zones, the car being broken into or damaged in on-street parking, etc. There is a lift up to the hotel which is great for transporting luggage, Our room was simply but pleasantly appointed (everything white and blue), clean, with a large window/door overlooking the water, and a nice bathroom. The hotel is within easy walking distance of all the major sights. Staff were pleasant and helpful, and the breakfast served in a pleasant, bright dining area, with the option to eat outside on the terrace, was excellent. Highly recommended.

Casa Cristina B&B is ideally located in the centre of Ortigia just opposite Apollo's site. It has 3 large rooms all with balconies and ensuite facilities. A modest breakfast is provided but one can use the kitchen free of charge. Utensils, oil, butter, salt and pepper, cleaning tools and soap are freely available. Milk, coffee, orange juice and cereals are provided... A pharmacy is located next door, a supermarket is just 2 minutes away, as well as several restaurants and cafes. The market is open every day where one can buy fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh fish, meat,... fresh herbs, etc. Souvenirs, clothes, watches, belts, etc are available from shops as well as the market. The beautiful sea is visible from both ends. The owner Mr Sergio us very hospitable and tries to solve any problem you may have :-) Ideal place to stay, very worth for the price paid.

Recently back from 5 weeks in Italy-- we spent 3 nights here. It's a great location. the host, Francesco was Extremely helpful. Even before we arrived, he was able to provide helpful information on the area in regards to parking or taking the bus. He even provided links on google maps to assist us! The apartment was clean, and comfortable. There was a small balcony that we could enjoy of coffee on each morning and a small refrigerator that was handy. They heavily promote recycling, which I thought was a great feature. There is a small market within walking distance and also a reasonable laundry service nearby. Lots of local restaurants/cafes to choose from as well. Check in and check out were smooth. FYI -There is a lift, but there are a few steps to maneuver before you get to the lift. All in all I would definitely recommend a stay here

Being easy to find and with (chargeable) parking is a godsend in Ortigia. Our room was a good size with wooden floor, fitted furniture and a huge marble bathroom. View over the harbour from the front is worthwhile. Room generally well equipped including kettle and fridge, the only complaint I had was that the AC didn’t work very well (and never when you were not in the room) so it was always a bit hot. I think in the summer it would be a problem. There is a lift to all floors once inside the main entrance, where they kindly provide umbrellas in case of rain. Breakfast on the top floor had a great view and was a pretty good spread of savoury and sweet dishes, although the coffee service was a bit confused. Probably the best breakfast we had in Sicily. Everywhere is walking distance from here in Ortigia and we also walked to the Greek theatre site from here.

The hotel is about a 10-15min walk to the Old Town (Ortiga) and about 20min walk to the Archaeological Park. Service was impeccably friendly and very responsive; my wifi had issues and they promptly reset the router which fixed the issue immediately. The room had ample space and had the relevant amenities, incl air condition. Shower was a bit old, small but clean. There are breakfast boxes available if you need to check out earlier. Great value for money!!

I travel and alone most the time . I chose this hotel because of location to the train station and PRICE . There are hundreds of hotels to stay in . Most you will need a taxi to get to . Sicily was here before Jesus and like most of Italy you visit to see the sights . As for being safe I had absolutely no problems . As for being dirty and run down I’ve been in much worse at the Holiday Inn USA . I’m in my room to sleep and the mattress was a comfortable memory foam that let me sleep better than my Sealy Posturepedic at home . The staff was more than professional and very polite . The breakfast was much better than most in Sicily . Remember what I said about cost ? The breakfast is good and yes there are hotels with better food but it should be a fast quick meal because you know you can’t wait to sit along side a street for lunch so it’s way more than sufficient. A 24 hour desk is better than many in Sicily should you have a problem . As for the noise so many complaints were about ? Italy can be noisy but I didn’t need ear plugs . The TV ? It had CNN but I came here to get away from the USA and not worry about the blunders I’m missing out on . There is a Hop on Bus just a few blocks away and at 5 euros all day it’s a great bargain . Sit on the right side of the bus as you will see better at most sights HOWEVER get off the bus at the sights you want to see . It’s a bargain and my hotel desk clerk told me to hop on board . So complain about a bargain or enjoy Siracusa. The choice is yours but I am a world traveler and I have no problem recommending this hotel . Remember that you can spend much more and by doing so you may feel obligated to stay in your room on most of your visit because you paid too much . It is a 5 minute walk from the train station and about a 15 minute walk to the center of Ortigia. The island is just not that big and this hotel is plenty close and just fine fir your stay .

Winston Churchill stayed here in 1955 and I suspect that it has not been cleaned or maintained since that date. With a heavy heart I write this review as I am shocked at the poor standards of professional service and hotel cleanliness. We travel a lot and this Hotel has to be seen to be believed. Firstly, it is anything but a four star hotel. A two star average would more accurately describe the Hotel although it does have a pool which is large and looks clean from a distance. Thee Hotel's notion of hygene is to put chlorine in the pool. The sand, dust, bugs, insects and other creatures all around including pigeon droppings do not seem to come into the equation. I will list the areas of concern: (1) We booked four nights with the option to extend for 6 nights (they had a six nights pay for 5 nights offer). When we arrived we immediately said that we wished to extend and the offer was conveniently 'forgotten'. Francesco at the front desk (angry and rude reception man) even suggested that we were making things up. After further investigations by Francesco, the offer was honoured but the scene for battle with the staff was already set. Unprofessional and unnecessary; (2) The rooms were tiny and stank. On the fourth night we were moved (finally) - apparently they had a sewage / pool issue. This was not my fault but was experienced at my expense. (3) The plug sockets were so flimsy and badly inserted that we had trouble inserting plugs and the sockets kept coming out of the wall; (4) the carpets and floors in the hotel were filthy - hoovers only came out once and there was filth everywhere; (5) the bannister rails down the stairs were flimsy and not even attached properly - they were dangerous and neglected; (6) The outside of the Hotel had paint peeling everywhere. The benches needed replacing as they were old, paint was peeling and the general look was aged neglect. The gardens were not maintained at all and filth was everywhere. From the main road, the property was used as a rubbish tip. (7) Breakfast was an amazing experience - they provide a brochure explaining that breakfast was totally free coupled with a cartoon of a man inspecting the mouth of a horse. The fact is this was blatantly untrue. You could get Nescafe instant coffee from a machine but if you wanted a normal (real Italian coffee) then €1.50 per cup was added to your bill. Incidentally, the coffee / hot water from the machine was disgusting tap water. Tea bags were provided if you wanted tea but if you wanted to put your teabag in a pot, then €2.00 was charged. They even charged us €10.00 for a tomato salad at dinner which was to replace the fennel salad which came with the sea bream / sea bass. This was dishonest and plainly rude but in the context of the staff training and discipline at Grand Hotel Villa Politi not at all surprising. Positive points: The wifi worked. The Hotel was well positioned but not on the sea front. Clearly this Hotel needs a comple

We stayed one night on our trip around Sicily. It is convenient for parking the car, and for getting to the archeological park. It was also easy to get to old town. The hotel lobby is really dark and right away gives you an unwelcoming cold feeling. Although the staff are very friendly and helpful. walls are painted black there was no lighting at all in the lobby, odd. The rooms were mostly white and very small. We know rooms in europe tend to be smaller but this was really small with room for only one bag to be laid out and only 2feet around the circumference of bed . very tight. Bathroom was fine as far as size also very dark grey walls, cant understand why there is no shower door the bathroom floods as you shower because it is rather small and the door protects nothing. The modern fixtures nice. The breakfast downstairs was very good, you can have made to order omelettes, eggs, etc which was very nice, although i don't think most guest are aware of this as there is a small sign stating that you can get items cooked but it is positioned in a way that most guests miss it. Coffee and juices very good, as well as breads and pastries, very fresh. the beds were comfortable and we had a good night sleep. I am glad we did not stay for more than one night, i would have preferred a more traditional hotel. If you enjoy modern and dark then this is for you. next time in Siracusa we will stay elsewhere, but this is a personal preference.

A budget hotel, opposite Syracuse railway station and just around the corner from the bus station, making it a good location from where to visit other parts of the island. It is also within walking distance of tourist sights in Syracuse and Ortygia. Rooms are kept spotlessly clean, with ample towels changed daily and our bed super comfy! All staff were pleasant and friendly, making our stay, in what initially seemed a somewhat seedy part of town, utterly enjoyable.

This 4 room hotel is very well located at one end of via Roma, close to Piazza Archimedes. They offer parking that is 200 meters away, very convenient. The hotel, every part of it, is beautifully designed. The room is spacious and bright with more than enough storage. The bed was very comfortable, and best of all even though via Roma is a busy pedestrian street, the windows are so insulated that when they are shut you don’t hear anything. There is a small balcony off room 2 ( large enough to stand on) and a really beautiful common terrace that’s a delightful place to eat breakfast, relax in the early evening (when it’s shaded) or to have a nightcap. Some snacks and tea are available 24/7. My only criticisms are that more information could have been given out at checkin (like we didn’t know at first how to access the street door because I wasn’t told there was a keypad off to the side) and we were really trying to get laundry done and it was never communicated to me that they could not do it (I had to keep asking). I expected a bit better at a luxe property. The breakfast was the most anemic of the hotels that I stayed at, but that didn’t really bother me much since I wasn’t usually hungry in the morning from the previous day! A beautiful property I would definitely stay at again.

We booked one night here quite last minute and were really pleased we did. The hotel seems very new, there is a lovely swimming pool and our room had a jacuzzi - we didn’t make use of it as it was a bit cold for us, but still really nice, and an outdoor area with seating. The bathroom was great and as others have said there are lots of lovely touches like a straw bag and straw hat for use at the beach. Andrea who greeted us was charming and had lots of recommendations both for Plemmirio and Ortigia. The only drawback was, the walls do seem to be thin. The person in the room adjacent to ours was a loud snorer and it was like he was in the room with us. Had we been staying more than one night we perhaps would have asked to swap rooms but for one night there’s not a lot that can be done. This is a lovely place to stay but it may be worth packing earplugs.
