Situated on a side street in the pedestrian area of the old town, this B&B is in a perfect central location: you are really in the heart of Montpellier's old town with plenty of cafes, bars, restaurants and attractions in walking distance. If you come by car, there is a parking garage close by (EUR 20/day). The rooms are simply furnished but have a modern bathroom with walk-in shower. The beds are comfy and we slept great. The breakfasts are hearty with a selection of croissants, bread, jams, and cereal. The cherry on the cake with the hostess - she was really fantastic being very talkative and interesting (an artist). She provided great suggestions including some nice restaurants that are normally not on the tourists paths.

Having stayed here ago about 18 months ago when I was delighted with my choice, I was really looking forward to returning to Montpellier and this hotel. Sadly, standards seem to have slipped a little since my first stay; the room was clean but looking a little tired and the breakfast buffet, a highlight of my first stay, was very variable this time round. Whilst much better on day two, on the first morning the presentation of food was absolutely atrocious. Take a look at the photos I have posted of the disgusting clump of undercooked croissants & pain au chocolat that was on offer. Most unappetising! It seemed to me that the breakfast area was very poorly resourced with just one staff member to prepare food, replenish stocks and clean up. They say nothing is ever as good the second time round and sadly I feel the same way about this property.

I can honestly say that out of all the Ibis hotels we have stayed in, this was the worst. While the room was clean, it was extremely small and there was no bathroom door, only a curtain! The shower also had a window in it. You would need to be extremely comfortable with who you were sharing the room with here. From speaking to friends that were also staying the hotel, their room had the same layout. One of the mornings when I went down for breakfast, there were no plates, no cutlery and very little food. There was one girl working in the kitchen and when I tried to get her attention she completely ignored me, despite having seen me waiting. When the food was eventually restocked, the crepes were stone cold but overall the selection of food wasn't bad. Other friends of ours stayed in the Ibis Centre Comedie which was only a two minute walk away and it seemed to be a far better choice!

We had a one stay on our way back to Mallorca. The property is stunning and has beautiful grounds which is one of the reasons we chose the hotel as we have a German shepherd. Our room, a suite, was superb and very spacious and well located for reception, restaurant and all the grounds. Reception was efficient , helpful and friendly. Room service was also very good and efficient. So far so good. The problem the hotel has is for a 5 star at these prices details are important. The car park is a distance from the reception and there is no valet parking available and no one present around the car par to help with luggage etc. For me this is a must for a 5 star. The restaurant. The food was very good, however the service, although friendly, was slow. We waited a while before someone asked us what we wanted to drink . I was shocked when we asked for 2 Bloody Marys and we were told that they did not do those types of cocktails! Apparently they only do “classic cocktails”.... that for a top restaurant is ludicrous We then waited for a while for the wine we ordered, so we sat there for at least 30 minutes without getting a drink One last point if your a pet owner. Although you pay a supplement to have your pet stay the hotel does not even provide a dogs bowl in the room. So take yours... I would not discourage anyone from staying here and we may well go back but they need to iron out the small details to be truly 5 star

Needed to stay a night near the old city that also had car parking. This hotel turned out to be just the thing (probably best that your car isn’t too big though as the entrance may just have been made for a horse and cart...). We did a bit of a reconnoiter a few days earlier as we wanted to impress the kids with our local knowledge (not helped by getting lost driving in). Negotiated the roads (eventually) and parked successfully in the dungeon. Met with the wonderful staff who were ever so helpful, including directions to baby clothes shops (don’t ask). We arrived several hours early (despite my best efforts with the GPS) and we got quickly sorted. Close to everything we needed (and baby clothes...). Cafes, trams, restaurants, bars, aspirol spritz(es), you name it, its all handy. Travelling in the fridge that doubles as the lift to the rooms is an adventure. Equally fun on the spiral staircase. The rooms are good, quiet and clean. You’re here for the city, so enjoy. Worth all of its two stars! Recommend it. Enjoy.

We booked this lovely family run B&B at the very last minute. The welcoming atmosphere of the garden and the house in the evening lights gave us a very good first impression. The rooms were big enough for four of us and the bathroom was generously spacious. We liked the design of the rooms and the comfortable bed. We really appreciated the cleanliness all over the premises. The breakfasts were simple but delicious. We really liked the restaurant but sadly it is not opened during the weekend. The hosts are extremely kind and helpful. Thank you for making our long weekend memorable.

We booked here because it was near the centre of Montpellier and was opposite the aqueduct. We had booked one of the hotel's car parking spaces before we arrived so when we did arrive the awesome guy on reception told us where we needed to go park. We also checked in early too which was great. The guys took our bags up to our room while we parked the car. We had booked a classic double room which was tiny to say the least. The bathroom was modern but the towel rail was positioned next to the toilet which we thought it was terrible idea. A word of warning the walls are paper thin!!!! The room didn't come with a safe which was disappointing. At around 3.30am a couple came back from their night out. Woke us up on their way up stairs and then proceeded to have intercourse very loudly twice in a row. I can say that it is the worst night sleep I have had in a very long time. The staff are excellent and super helpful but the hotel itself was a total let down.

Stayed one one enroute from Spain to France. Found the place difficult to find as a new bypass has been built within the existing motorway network to allow traffic to pass straight through Montpellier which meant our Sat nav took us straight through so we had to wait ages for an exit off the motorway to turn around to come back. Added at least 30 minutes extra onto an already long journey. The man at reception wasn't the most cheerful and asked if we intended to have dinner in the restaurant and we said we would like to eat at 8.30pm. He seemed put out and said the restaurant closed at 10pm, but we said after an 8 hour drive we wanted a short rest and time to freshen up. We arrived early and ordered. Food was average for French standards and you could tell it had been warmed in a microwave as some parts of the meal were warmer than others. Room was fine and beds ok for one night. The fiasco on the bypass would probably make me choose another place to stop on future trips.

The three rooms open on a very quiet courtyard with greenery and small inviting tables. A perfect setting for our small group which occupied all three rooms: A larger table in the shady courtyard welcomes guests to,breakfast served buffet style. Delightful in Summer. .On week days, the bread comes from an exceptional bakery. Add croissants, yoghurts, fresh fruit, a pot of fresh coffee. Marc made me a special decaf expresso diluted with hots water as I requested. Delicious home made coffee cakes. One morning was cloudy and a little raw so breakfast was set inside. Marc and Etienne are congenial hosts, attentive to every guests' needs. For example, Marc provided me with a top sheet to replace the "couette" which was too hot in Summer. My bed was firm, yet comfortable for my taste. Finally the location is at a 5 minute walk to the TRAM stop at Chateau d'O. The park and ride station of Occitanie is also close and convenient: it allows parking for the whole day plus TRAM tickets for all the vehicle occupants to go downtown and come back.

Our party of five adults arrived on a Sunday morning, but were able to leave luggage until all rooms were ready. We were shown the room that was ready and it seemed clean and comfortable.Upon our return, the check in process was rather haphazard and obviously the weekend housekeeping service was in charge. In our room there were plenty of washcloths and two big bath towels – and that was all. Getting in and out of the big tub was perilous. However on Monday both hand towels and a bathmat were provided. The lighting was "atmospheric" i.e.low, and it was impossible to read by the bedside lamp since one of the two small bulbs had been removed. Monday breakfast was delicious, although it arrived in the same haphazard manner with no explanation as to whether we were to be served or get things ourselves. One gets the idea that the restaurant which operates Tuesday through Saturday is the main focus of the establishment and the B&B very much of an afterthought. They offered no suggestions for dining options other than to wave in the direction of Montpellier which was about a 45 minute walk away. When we left on Tuesday morning, three chefs were hard at work in the kitchen preparing for the evening's dinner.

A few things to know. The hotel is not near anything at all. You must take the #9 bus or walk to Place d'Europe to take a tram to other parts of Montpellier. The busses in Montpellier stop running at 8 pm, just to let you know. The 6 euro breakfast is a requirement even if you just have coffee and orange juice. They have a pretty good breakfast buffet, and you can't beat the price anywhere else in Montpellier. The rooms are small but clean and the hotel is clean and modern. If you fly in, take a cab from the airport for 25 euros. It will save you a lot of time.

We stayed in room 903 on the top floor which had a mezzanine for the bedroom and living area downstairs so not really suitable if you cannot manage stairs. Staff were very friendly and helpful throughout . Check in is a bit odd as you select your little plastic bottles ( one of each per guest)of shampoo, shower gel etc and were told this is to help the environment. Surely with all those little plastic bottles it would be much better to have large refillable bottles in the bathrooms? Or maybe it’s an excuse to simply stop pilferage? Anyway the room was very comfortable especially the excellent bed and we slept well despite being opposite the train station ,the double glazing works well.Good duvet and huge TV’s. Bathroom was fine, typically French small bath and small towels. Lovely breakfast. All very modern and new with good access to the old town.

From the bottom of my heart I'm thanking the owners of this hotel. Apparently it's been going down many generations in this family and since they are caring so much for the customers I feel obligated to share my words about the amazing stay we had. Read more about why it was good below. The price is alright, the location is even better, but the service they provided was beyond my expectations. The day we were going home it was raining the whole day, and we thought about paying for a day-room, but they let us use the breakfast hall to relax for several hours and feel as comfortable as home. The owners lives there so it feels like a home in many ways. Thank you for being so kind to us through everything. We will come again!

The B&B is a very short walk from the train station. From upstairs, you need to exit at the back of the train station. There is a small balcony with an elevator, the street you see from the balcony is the street you need to walk down. The B&B is very well presented and the host, Michel is extremely friendly & helpful. The room itself was very clean and comfortable and quite spacious, beds were very good. Bathroom also very clean and a reasonable size with good water flow. Breakfast was in the kitchen at a large table, here you get to meet other guests. Breakfast was good and was served by Michel. There kitchen & facilities can also be used by guests, which was great if you wanted tea or coffee or to eat in. All attractions were very easy to get to from here, Michel provides you with a reasonable map (many B&B's did not provide maps) and highlights main attractions. Overall a very good stay with a great host. Would definitely go back to this B&B.

We spent several days at Hotel Mistral during the recent heat wave. It was absolutely delightful. The AC worked great even when temperatures reached historic highs. The rooms are charming with lovely color schemes, comfortable beds, and a great French feel. The location is terrific - quiet, but within easy walking distance not only of the Place Comedie, but also of the train station, several small eateries and (important for us) a great laundromat! The neighborhood is wonderful and diverse. Best of all are the staff, who are super helpful and knowledgable. We arrived early and they bustled to get our room ready right away. Good: Great front desk, very helpful, room is neat and tidy, bed is comfy enough, they also kind enough to provide a small bed for my 3 months old son. The residence (please note this is not a hotel so the front desk only opens at certain time - not a problem for us) is located is a great area, easily accessible with a stroller to Place de la Comedie (15min walk) and carrefour city is nearby (8min walk) if you need groceries. They also provide free parking which is what we like, probably the only one within 15min walking distance to Place de la Comedie. Bad: No air conditioning in the room, and it's scorching hot in summer! It feels hotter in the room because of the direct sunlight and we didn't need an alarm to wake up. They do provide a fan but to be honest it doesn't do much, there are air conditioning vents in the room but unsure why it's not available. The elevators also seem to be very unreliable, both elevators broke down on our last day and I have to carry our luggages and 3 months old baby from the 5th floor to ground floor using staircase. Overall, good stay, but please improve on the air conditioning and the maintenance on the elevators.

The hotel is not bad, not very clean but acceptable. Small room with a small toilet (my friend couldn't even seat without touching the wall). I am allergic to dust and so, I had to sleep with the window open even when it was cold but the other person sleeping there didn't notice anything and was okay with the window closed. The elevator is made for children or something because it is ridiculously tiny, we went up the stairs with our baggage. The price is affordable and comparing to the other hotels in Montpellier, it was cheap. The problem? The man who "welcomed" us when we arrived was very rude, he explicitly told me to shut up at one point when I was asking for directions. We had booked the parking too with the hotel and the explanations on how to arrive to it (it's not located in the hotel) were really bad and he didn't give us the number of the street or the number of the parking within the building. So, after driving for a lot of hours, I had to drive for a half hour to find it, stopping at every door on the street and clicking to see if it opened and, once inside the parking, I had to try every number with the key (it finally was the 30 something). To sum up, after having been talked to in a very rude way, it took us like an hour and a half to park and come back to the hotel and then, when we told him about all what happened, he had the guts to just turn around and say if we wanted to pay for breakfast. He didn't even say I'm sorry for not giving the right directions. Now, of course we did not pay anymore for absolutely anything and if we hadn't booked in advance, we wouldn't have stayed here, that's for sure. Maybe it's just that guy who's rude since the guy in the morning was nice but I'm never returning there. I have returned to Montpellier a few times and I have stayed in other hotels, in the end, I prefer to pay a little more and know that I have something nice when I arrive there. A total nightmare!

Stayed four nights at Hotel Campanile. I had a 6th floor room facing the train station. Although the room was small, I found it to be well laid out, best utilizing the space available. My bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was modern with excellent shower pressure. During one night of my stay I did experience the noise issue others have mentioned. At first I thought it was an air pocket in the water pipes until I found the source of the sound. I opened the window latch (window still closed) and that solved the problem. The staff at reception were very polite, professional and welcoming. The hotel location is great - across from the train station (zero noise thanks to soundproof windows) and a short walk to virtually all of Montpellier’s major sights. Note, this hotel is attached to Golden Tulip so just watch which entrance you use.

We have spent almost a week in the self catering accommodation. The reception was always friendly, helpful and professional. We have requested a good month before our arrival a room on the top floor with a nice view. The reception fulfilled a half of our request. We got a room on the top floor facing the fire station and they were a bit loud in the morning and evening. Hence, we weren't completely happy with the quietness of the place. The apartment had a little kitchenette which had all basic necessary items for us to cook. The bathroom was a nice size. The room was a good size too. It's about 15 min walk to the tram station, but on the plus side only 200 yards behind the apartment was a beautiful chateau, good wines and beautiful gardens. The journey by taxi from the airport took us about 8 min and costs €29 whilst on a way back we have used public transport, two single tickets are €3.20 for the tram and €3.20 for two tickets on the airport bus. The journey took us about 25 min plus walking to the tram station 15min. Overall, the facilities of the place are reasonable, the town is clean and nice. We weren't impressed with the massage service, was overpriced for what was offered, back massage only €40 per person..for 30min....it was too gentle, it felt rather like stroking not massaging. Unfortunately, the woman doesn't speak English so if you have any pains you can't explain ...your help is Google translate or the reception.

Third night in France and last night before getting to our holiday resort. Having stayed at other Inter hotels elsewhere, we went for this one. The room was a good size with an accessible shower room easily entered by a sliding door. So far so good. It turned out that the restaurant was closed on a Sunday, so it looked like a trip into the centre of the city for food. However the receptionist took orders from us and a couple of other guests and went into town and got us some take-away food which filled a space.... Good of him, and it added to the general relaxed atmosphere in the hotel. After a few drinks on the terrace we decided to turn in. The bed unfortunately was not the most comfortable, quite a bit of give in the mattress which meant that it wasn't the most comfortable sleep ever. Breakfast was OK but we were still quite tired after an unsettled night in the bed. Overall we enjoyed our stay and it was a pity about the bed.Perhaps another room could have had a better bed, but that's the chance you take. However that does not mean we would not give it another try in a different room.
